DPM Chapter 102- Surviving the Temple Part 2
Translated by Snowfall77

Mozun saw that Saman’s face was brimming with incomprehension, panic and doubt, so Mozun repeated his question: “How do you sever the spirit link?”

Saman’s actions suddenly reflected its expression as it screamed in terror and sent out chaotic bursts of energy: “No……No……Don’t sever my spirit link……Don’t……Please don’t……”

Forcefully exerting himself, Mozun now pulled out what he’d been pinching on Saman.

Saman screamed. Its body erupted with white light and it appeared to be in great agony. Desiccation spread over its flesh and it withered, falling to the ground unconscious.

At that very moment the other four light elders emerged from their respective doorways, faces contorted with panic: “What is happening?! Why is Saman’s spiritual link severed?!”

Of course they asked not using words, but their spirit links, the brilliant rays of light from their bodies illumining the entire temple.

The second Saman had fainted to the floor, Mozun had immediately hid in a crack by the pillar of light, a hiding place that it didn’t occur to the Saer to find.

He observed how the light scattered from Saman as the Saer lay prone, then hovered in the air above it before finally returning the Saer’s body.

The desiccated form gradually returned to its original state. Saman got up off the floor, glanced around in pain, and tried to explain to its compatriots what had happened.

“My spirit link has been severed……” Saman spoke out loud. However without its own spirit link, its words meant nothing to the other four light elders.

Mozun understood Saman just fine. But the light elders were still confused.

" "

“That creature! That person is not one of us! He is our enemy!” Saman gesticulated wildly, wanting to condemn Mozun.

Dazed as if confronted with the unthinkable, the other Saer stood and took no action.

The minutes stretched out until Saman again attempted to communicate……

Speaking carefully, Saman told the others what had happened: “It was the new light elder, my pair. He plotted against me, he severed my spirit link. He made it impossible for me to connect to the Deity ever again! This is worse than death for me……”

Astonished, the other light elders exclaimed: “What? Mozun did this? Why would he do this?!”

Saman shook from head to foot, suddenly recalling what Mozun had said.

“I have a spouse! And I love him a lot. I won’t physically join with anyone else except him.”

“He is my friend and my partner. I don’t want anyone to hurt him.”

“Do you know what love is?”

Understanding washed over Saman, its body crackling, chest swelling with anger.

Saman’s voice thundered with indignation: “That fucking insect! I don’t care if he’s a Dark Temple warrior or an insignificant being, I’ll send them straight to hell. Him and Mozun both, they’re going to fucking die!”

Exiting the temple, Saman raced towards where Wu Xingyun was imprisoned.

The four light elders left behind exchanged dismayed looks. It took them about ten seconds to cotton on to what Saman, whose spirit link was gone, intended to do.

Belatedly reacting, one communicated “Go! Grab Saman!” via their spirit connection.

“Capture him why?” Another asked.

“Saman’s spirit link is severed, therefore……whether willing or not, Saman has betrayed the Deity!”

“A person of the Deity who betrays the Deity must suffer complete death!”

“Seize Saman and kill Saman before the Deity!”

“Sacrificing Saman’s spirit to the Deity is the best thing we can do for Saman!”

The elders had stood there like statues, not moving their mouths, blinking at each other as they accomplished all their communication via link. With the next course of action decided upon, they leisurely walked out of the temple. They needn’t chase after Saman themselves. They could directly spiritually summon the Duodao warriors.

Before Saman could reach Wu Xingyun’s location, the Saer was encircled by countless Duodao warriors.

“Kill! For the sake of the Deity, kill!” The Duodao warriors were as stupidly brave as ever, lacking all fear of death and brimming with combative power.

Their conviction penetrated down to their very bones. Swam in their blood, flowing through every vein.

Forgetting the state it was in, Saman had also tried to summon the Duodao warriors before being reminded that that was no longer possible. Unable to give orders to its lessers, Saman felt a deep pain that made it twitch and shudder all over.

The next second a Duodao warrior attacked Saman and it immediately became clear to Saman what was going on.

Whether voluntary or forced, it didn’t matter. Sundering of the spirit link meant renouncing the Deity.

Meant falling into the deepest abyss.

Meant—traitors to the Deity were expelled, left to eternally drift at the edge of the universe.

Saman howled in anguish. It still possessed its energy, but now its spirit was disconnected. Suddenly rising into the air, both hands lifted high, Saman let off one wave of radiating energy after another, attempting to kill the Duodao warriors attacking it.

“Saman is trying to escape!” The light elders informed each other.

“That cannot be allowed!”

“Saman must come back……back into the embrace of the Deity! No matter the betrayal of the spirit link.”

All of a sudden the pillar of light in the center of the temple emanated an immense brilliant beam, an urgent siren sound reverberating through the sky.

“No! A Dark Temple warrior is coming!” One elder sent to another.

“Those bastards! Attacking right after we’ve lost a light elder. This must be deliberate!”

“Traitors, those who betray the Deity don’t deserve a good death!”

Slowly floating up to hover in mid-air, the four light elders formed two enormous balls of light, brightening up their surrounding area.

“Go……Purge the traitors! Let the power of the Deity burn them away!”

During most of this, Mozun had no idea what was going on outside, staying hidden between the light pillar and a slab of stone. After the four light elders had left the temple, Mozun decided to try and find Wu Xingyun first. Alone, Mozun knew he was no match for four light elders. But the instant Mozun went to leave the temple, the light pillar abruptly issued its alarm, rapidly swelling in size. His body enveloped, Mozun was drawn into the beam.

In that last split second, when he was still able to think freely, Mozun recalled Saman’s words: ““Everything you want to know, you can know……follow the Deity’s will, establish a spiritual link……”

Then Mozun was in the pillar of light and he understood……

The spirit link, the Saer, what a Dark Temple warrior was……

The understanding kept flooding in, too many things becoming clear. Like……what fearful things humanity was facing.

This race had no mercy, no love, no higher sentiments whatsoever.

Except for themselves, anything and anyone was insignificant.

They’d been born in a distant part of the Andromeda galaxy, consumed with a indestructible determination to migrate.

The tens of thousand Duodao warriors and the four light elders on this planet were just the barest tip of the coming migration.

Nestled back home in the Andromeda galaxy was great numbers of Saer, high-tech battleships, airships, and mechanical equipment, all ready and waiting.

‘Preparing to immigrate’—the truth being it was an invasion of the Milky Way, one that the Saer had been planning thousands and thousands of years, and it had only just begun.

In the blink of an eye, Mozun was ejected from the pillar of light.

It’d been less than ten seconds, yet it’d felt like a lifetime.

Too many memories, too many new elements, were flooding Mozun’s mind. And something else was swelling to a rise within him.

Then it washed over him, overwhelming feelings of joy, safety and warmth.

His spirit was linked.

Care and affection from billions of others inundated Mozun, but even more clearly experienced was a clear and bright quietness.
The Deity……

Mozun was filled to the bottom of his heart with the awareness of his spiritual connection with all the Saer.

In the words of the Saer, Mozun had become a true light elder of the highest status.

So long as he was willing, he could live in the Saer forever, a life a hundredfold better than what he’d endured before……having countless family members, reaping inexhaustible faith.

And—he could find a light elder pair and experience authentic unity.

A feeling only the Deity could provide……

The ability to share in the well-being and peaceful happiness of the Deity……
