DPM Chapter 103-Fleeing Part 2
Translated by Snowfall77

Surveying his quiet surroundings, Wu Xingyun wondered how much time had passed.

Bored stiff, he instinctually stared up the baffling jellyfish thing above his head.

Then suddenly Wu Xingyun saw a strange distortion in the air a little farther away.

Like—the distortion a Ghost soldier or Wu Xingyun himself would make when passing by.

It was impossible that a Federation Ghost soldier would show up here, so……what was it?

In the blink of an eye, the detector caught it and illuminated it, showing what looked like a man with red skin, draped in a golden cloak.

Its eyes glowed like precious blue stones, and where its hands should have been were instead sharp gleaming red blades. And it moved extremely quickly.

Duodao warriors spotted it advancing and rather promptly lost their cool, to Wu Xingyun’s slight amusement.

An urgent alert went out: “Warning, warning! A Dark Temple warrior has invaded the prison of light! It is here! It……ahhh!”

A scream echoed as one particular Duodao warrior’s life was extinguished.

Wu Xingyun, attentively observing everything happening around him, was surprised when the person with red blades of light for hands sliced the jellyfish thing overhead in half.

Pfff. The detector broke apart and the red-skinned figure was nowhere to be seen.

Glancing down, Wu Xingyun watched his own body disappear.

He was finally invisible again.

Unable to see either ghostly figure, the Duodao warriors futilely threw themselves helter-skelter at where they guessed the enemies to be, managing only to chop each other to bits, blue blood disgorging from their bodies.

One……two……three……

In hardly any time, the Duodao warriors who’d been guarding the prison of light were all dead.

The red blade unveiled itself again, dazzling to the eyes, slicing through one wall of Wu Xingyun’s prison cell. Wu Xingyun withdrew to a corner, then went motionless, eying the figure vigilantly.

“Who are you?” The Dark Temple warrior’s question hung in the air. “Why can’t I sense your existence? Are you one of my people?”

Unable to understand the Dark Temple warrior’s language, all Wu Xingyun knew was that his guts were telling him the red figure was dangerous.

“If you are my people, you must return with me!” The Dark Temple warrior moved around the cell trying to find Wu Xingyun, before abruptly stopping.

It turned its head, looking to one side where a light elder in a long black coat had appeared.

The blazing red blades rose in the air, rushing towards Mozun.

Wu Xingyun raced to Mozun too.

Pfff……

A faint sound and Mozun’s arm was stabbed by something invisible, a rare occurrence for him.

“Be careful!” Wu Xingyun whispered in Mozun’s ear before tightly grabbing Mozun’s hand in his own.

The two men disappeared together, unseen to any eye.

Holding Wu Xingyun in his arms, Mozun rose up. When mid-air, Mozun stopped and hovered, unwilling to leave.

He wanted to know just what a light elder’s capabilities were, when it was all said and done.

Wu Xingyun hadn’t noticed Mozun’s arm wound at first. When he discovered it was still bleeding, Wu Xingyun felt a little discouraged.

Tearing off a strip from his shirt, Wu Xingyun hastily wrapped Mozun’s wound.

While Wu Xingyun did that, Mozun informed the other light elders where at least one Dark Temple warrior had been.

The other light elders came quickly. Mozun put aside Wu Xingyun’s hand, his figure reappearing as he hurriedly communicated with the light elders.

“What do we do now? The Dark Temple warrior is invisible, how do we guard against it?” Mozun asked.

The answer he received actually shocked him.

Without exception, the other four light elders ordered every available Duodao warrior to assemble at the prison of light.

The Dark Temple warrior might be able to hide itself, but it couldn’t conceal the deaths of Duodao warriors or the blood that would flow out of them.

So long at the Dark Temple warrior tried to escape, it would inevitably have to kill Duodao warriors. And if the Duodao warriors were packed almost impenetrably into a space, the Dark Temple warrior would be blazing a perceptible path of blood.

Then the light elders could use the bloody trail to pinpoint the Dark Temple warrior’s location.

This was far more than a ‘human wave attack,’ this was simply a ‘meat grinder’ tactic.

The unfeeling absurdity of it washed over Mozun, and he unconsciously drew back, pulling again at Wu Xingyun’s hand tightly, until they were both quietly hidden in the darkness again.

The other light elders’ attention was focused on the Dark Temple warrior, therefore this was the best opportunity for Mozun and Wu Xingyun to escape.

Yet Mozun still had an inarticulate desire to see the Dark Temple warrior versus the Duodao warriors. Was the Duodao warriors’ faith so pure that, even knowing they were being sent to throw their lives away and be pointlessly slaughtered, they would still obey?

Mozun didn’t doubt that they would. Knowing the history of the Saer, he was certain of it.

That didn’t mean he didn’t want to see it with his own eyes.

Flying in the air, leading Wu Xingyun away, Mozun couldn’t help turning his head to watch the scene of the light elders encircling the prison of light.

Innumerable Duodao warriors were cramming into the space, their blue blood continuously spurting, while the light elders had ascended into the air, attacking by sending out repeated electromagnetic waves.

Those Duodao warriors that were wounded, left unable to protect themselves, were speedily finished off by the light elders’ wave attacks.

While the Dark Temple warrior fought on, trying to carve a pathway out.

Soon blue blood seen to cover everything, even reaching one of the planet’s river, dyeing the water turquoise.

Mozun turned his head back to Wu Xingyun, saying in a low voice: “Take me down along this river, don’t stop!”

Even though Mozun was trying to flee, he was still in constant communication with the Saer. He dared not think of certain things, otherwise it would all be known. The heavy responsibility would have to be given to Wu Xingyun. And Mozun was convinced that when Wu Xingyun saw the ships, Wu Xingyun would know what to do.

“Mozun, where are you?” One of the light elders slowly noticed that Mozun’s position seemed to be far from the battlefield.

Answering was truly difficult. Mozun needed to deceive himself first, make himself accept a falsehood.

Mozun tried and tried. He couldn’t do it.

Thinking up a lie and actually inwardly believing it contrasted with verbalizing a lie were two different things. He could speak falsehoods to cheat others, but he couldn’t make himself think lies.

So Mozun instead resorted to asking incessant rhetorical questions.

“Is it killed? The Dark Temple warrior, did you kill it?” Mozun kept repeating this inquiry.

“We’ve almost succeeded! Come quickly! We’ve nearly used up all our energy, come and release your gamma rays and the Dark Temple warrior will be dead!” A light elder responded.

Yet in that same moment another light elder cried out: “Mozun! What do you want to do? You……”

Then the light elders quickly discerned Mozun’s thoughts, pulling them out of his mind. No matter how he tried to hide, it was useless.

“You dare try to escape?!”

“You dare to try and kill us?!”

“You will sever your spirit link?”

“Traitor! Saer who betray the Deity will be most severely punished!”

Without needing any signals, Mozun already saw the Duodao warriors sent to intercept Wu Xingyun and himself.

Dense like locusts and divided into two parts.

One part was occupied with destroying the spaceship Mozun had wanted to escape on.

The other portion were advancing towards Mozun, intending to encircle and suppress his rebellion. Only Wu Xingyun they couldn’t see and had no awareness of.
