DPM Chapter 12-Marriage Negotiations Part 2
Translated by Snowfall77

Mozun stared blankly. He hadn’t foreseen the other party being aware of the whole story, when it came to the meteor stream. And this common solider, armed with that knowledge, wasn’t acting pleased with himself, nor intimidated.

Feeling more respect for the soldier before him, after a moment Mozun adopted a slightly less condescending attitude. “You saw it? You were capable of understanding?”

Wu Xingyun nodded. “Well, I believe it was unintentional. I saw your face, your focus and seriousness. It didn’t look like deliberate malice. And…” Wu Xingyun paused, then continued voicing his inferences. “You’re very strong. Strong enough to split meteors in two without any protective suit. I think if you desired to ruin the peace with the Federation, you wouldn’t gone through that much effort. You could totally defeat us, if you really wanted. That’s why I believe you didn’t mean any harm.”

Mozun didn’t speak. He figured the man in front of him was kissing his ass, whilst also providing a way out of an embarrassing situation.

However, getting buttered up was comfortable, especially coming from the mouth of his open, straightforward fiancé.

Smiling, tone milder, Mozun said: “Since you believe that, then it’s a good start. Let’s discuss the wedding. Any requests?”

Feeling he’d made some headway, Wu Xingyun immediately kept forging ahead. “Right, I hear you don’t plan on holding a ceremony, but just want to go directly to the wedding night?”

“Yes, that’s our custom,” said Mozun carelessly. “The ceremony isn’t important, the fun part is the fucking. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you’re satisfied. After all, we’re going to be stuck with each other for a long time, right?” Then Mozun thoroughly looked Wu Xingyun up and down with presumptuous eyes, making Wu Xingyun feel exceedingly queasy.

But Wu Xingyun held himself back, taking out a pre-prepared list of wedding details. “That’s not at all acceptable. Our wedding represents the peace between both sides, therefore a service should be held, including an interview broadcast to the whole galaxy, a master-of-ceremonies, witnesses, and a go-between. Can’t skip any of that. Second, choose 10 o’clock in the morning, find a godfather, read our marriage vows to each other, and a proclamation of friendship between the two sides. Third, holding a banquet, to which my people are invited. They’ve been working hard for a long time, they need some relaxation, and they should be witnesses to the wedding too. Fourth, about the wedding night, I don’t think our relationship is to that point yet. We should cancel this step…”

While listening to Wu Xingyun belabor his points, Mozun had gradually become impatient. When Mozun heard ‘cancel the wedding night,’ he snatched Wu Xingyun’s piece of paper, gave it a cursory glance and slapped it down on the table. “Too many requests! You’ve got so many requirements, and I’ve got only one. Do it and I’ll give you what you want.”

Wu Xingyun, feeling maybe Mozun wasn’t that hard to negotiate with, endeavored a courteous, amiable smile. “What is your requirement?”

Mozun, glinting eyes holding a hint of ill will, considered Wu Xingyun’s silky skin. When Wu Xingyun had heard that skipping the wedding night was a possibility , what an irrepressible smile! How very happy he was, showing his shining teeth.

A wicked fire kindled in Mozun’s heart, and he let it blaze. He wanted to grab Wu Xingyun and give him a few words. “That delighted to cancel your wedding night?”

Instead Mozun snorted and said: “My requirement is simple. You want to forego the evening activities, but you said so yourself, our marriage represents the peace and friendship between both sides. How can we not express it? Well, if we’re going to broadcast the ceremony to the whole galaxy, demonstrating our permanent peace, you should convey the Federation’s sincerity and kiss me in front of everyone. Ten minutes, lots of tongue, with you looking enchanted and engrossed. If that’s not satisfactory, we’ll broadcast our first time. And if it still isn’t pleasing, you’ll need to try different positions, or if you’re too dim-witted and it’s no good, we can only tear up the contract……”

Wu Xingyun snapped out of his seat. “You’re going too far! I’m here on behalf of the Federation to marry! Not to make a porn film!”

Mozun laughed, his eyes lingering on Wu Xingyun’s body. “Porn film? Do you have that ability? Soldier, this is your task. If you don’t want to, then you’ll kneel down to me at the wedding and propose to me in public. Ask me to please marry you and swear you’ll only love me for your whole life. On behalf of your Federation, declare your undying, devoted service……”

Intuitively, Wu Xingyun reached for his gun. It wasn’t there, but if it had been, Mozun would have acquired a new hole.

The two men looked at each other, Wu Xingyun glaring, while Mozun retained his indifferent, lazy smile. Although Mozun seemed to appreciate Wu Xingyun’s angry and humiliated expression.

Taking some deep breaths, Wu Xingyun calmed himself down. Mozun was deliberately finding fault, trying to provoke, in order to tear up the contract and put the blame on Wu Xingyun. Then Wu Xingyun wouldn’t complete his mission.

Therefore, Wu Xingyun told himself, he needed to keep in mind the psychologist’s teachings, and not lose momentum. He purposely returned Mozun’s scrutiny.

After watching Wu Xingyun for a while, Mozun’s smirk disappeared, and his tone grew detached and ice-cold. “Soldier, this is just a political marriage. I am unyieldingly strong, but as your Federation is weak, you also are weak. Understand? Why are you still talking to me about conditions? Are you depending on your pretty looks, or are you waiting to offer your ass to someone else?”

Wu Xingyun’s lungs wanted to explode. He didn’t know how to refute Mozun, and he couldn’t think of anything to curse Mozun with either.

All Wu Xingyun knew was that the other party was nakedly insulting him and the Federation he represented.

And as a soldier, Wu Xingyun was born to battle and gain honor, not be degraded by an enemy.

Better to die with glory than live in humiliation.

His voice almost roaring, Wu Xingyun responded. “Yes! Our marriage is a political marriage. I came on behalf of the Federation, and yes, the Federation couldn’t beat you. But I’ll tell you! All men are born equal, Federation citizens and your people alike! Insult me if you want, but don’t insult the Federation! Your conditions, I won’t give in, not one step. If you can accept that, let’s continue on with our marriage and keep the peace. If you can’t accept, I’m more than ready to fight you to the death on the battlefield!”

Mozun cocked an eyebrow. “Just you? In my eyes, you’re an insignificant insect.”

“Even insects have their dignity,” Wu Xingyun retorted. “Federation soldiers might be weak, but we will never be timid, cowardly deserters. We’re ready to contest you! We want peace, but we don’t fear war. And if you want combat, I’ll fight to the end. Every one of us will fight to the end!”

Having said his piece, Wu Xingyun went to leave the tent.

However, he only got two steps before Mozun pulled his arm.

Immediately standing still, Wu Xingyun wanted to shake off Mozun’s hand, but he understood it clearly. Mozun’s terrifying power and strength. He didn’t struggle because he knew it would be futile, and would only expose his own weakness.

Wu Xingyun looked back, showing Mozun an obstinate expression.

Mozun stared in turn. They were both silent, neither side willing to concede.

The two of them stayed face to face for who knew how long. Then Mozun slightly leaned in, putting his lips close to Wu Xingyun’s ear, and said in a low voice: “Soldier, I know why you want the peace talks to fail. You won’t have to marry me, and then you can run off and be with your sweetheart. Isn’t that it?”

“What are you talking about?” Wu Xingyun asked. “To marry you is my mission. Rest assured, if you cooperate, I’ll work hard to complete the task.”

An ambivalent smile stretched across Mozun’s face, his breath warming Wu Xingyun’s flesh. Wu Xingyun felt itchy, flushed from the base of his neck to tips of his ears. Mozun, noticing, was tempted to take a bite, but suddenly thought of something unpleasant.

In a questioning voice, heavy with ridicule, Mozun spoke: “Complete the task? Let me ask you, what’s your relationship with Wen Nuo? You’re my future wife, but when you’re disoriented, you call someone else’s name. Do you think that’s the right approach to your duty?”

Wu Xingyun froze, stunned and not quite understanding Mozun’s meaning.

But Mozun released Wu Xingyun, face serious, and then stated in a murderous tone: “You best remember this, my eye won’t tolerate a speck of dirt. So don’t blame me for being ruthless, unless you can prove to me, that after we marry, you’ll be loyal only to me. Otherwise, I won’t take someone who’d turn me into a cuckhold, given the chance. Even if the peace breaks and there’s war again, I won’t take such a wife!”
