DPM Chapter 13 Provocation (1) Part 2
Translated by Snowfall77

Gazing up into Mozun’s face, Wu Xingyun saw complacent eyes sure of their victory. Infuriation consumed Wu Xingyun. He realized he was no match for Mozun, and he recognized even clearer that he had hopelessly screwed up the mission.

Well, if it was screwed, let it be screwed from crotch to sternum. On behalf of the people of the Federation, Wu Xingyun should teach this arrogant, ignorant guy a lesson!

Wu Xingyun whispered: “Come here.”

Mozun lowered his head, moving closer to Wu Xingyun.

Thump! Wu Xingyun’s fist hit Mozun square on the nose.

Their strength was hardly equal. And before the negotiations, wishing to show sincerity, Wu Xingyun had opted not to wear a combat suit. Therefore, Mozun wasn’t shaken the slightest. Instead it was Wu Xingyun’s hand that felt the pain.

Yet…Wu Xingyun thought it a good punch.

Then, clipping his words off one by one, Wu Xingyun declared to Mozun: “You. Stop imagining. I’ll report the situation to the Federation, and make sure the Federation is ready to fight. I’m not afraid of you. We’ve never been afraid of you!”

Mozun regretfully rubbed his nose, raising an eyebrow. “What a pity…But I’ll still give you a chance. I’ll ask you again this time tomorrow.”

Then rotating to a stunned Ouyang Liu, Mozun told him: “Stay here and persuade him. Get him to agree to my terms. If you’re successful, I won’t forget your merits.”

After saying that, Mozun strode out of the tent, alighting into his ship without looking back.

Following a couple of steps behind, Ouyang Liu’s speed was not enough to catch up to Mozun. Ouyang Liu could only watch Mozun depart without him.

Standing on the edge of the platform, Ouyang Liu stared after Mozun disconsolately, until the shadow of Mozun’s ship could be seen no more. Turning back around, Ouyang Liu found a group of soldiers standing around him. His nominal comrades. Wu Xingyun was planted in the front, glaring.

“Captain Ouyang Liu, please come with me.” Wu Xingyun led the way back to the tent. There only Lu Hai, the guard captain, stayed as an observer, keeping Ouyang Liu isolated from the other soldiers.

After Ouyang Liu sat back down, Wu Xingyun inquired: “What’s going on? Why are you with the Night Shard?”

No matter how angry he was, Wu Xingyun intended to strictly follow military regulations. When dealing with internal personnel issues, the first order of business was gaining a thorough understanding of the matter.

At first feeling timid from so many indignant eyes, Ouyang Liu calmed himself down, slickly smiling at Wu Xingyun: “Sergeant, are you interrogating me? You’re not qualified. Remember, my rank is higher than yours! I’m your superior officer. Attention!”

Wu Xingyun’s voice remained unwaveringly calm. “Yes!” He gave a standing salute. “Report. Captain, before leaving on this mission, I was appointed as the person in charge. The mission is not completed, we are still constrained by it. Therefore, on behalf of the Federation, I ask you to tell what has happened these past days. I hope you answer honestly.”

Ouyang Liu only nodded, revealing a smug expression. “The thing is, the one to marry Mozun will be me. So, Sergeant, you’d better be courteous to me, or I’ll have you flung back out into space!”

Wu Xingyun, looking a little distracted, did not doubt Ouyang Liu’s words.

Just moments ago, Mozun and Ouyang Liu had appeared quite intimate. Wu Xingyun figured that was why Mozun had been incessantly searching for faults during negotiation.

Even though Wu Xingyun didn’t doubt for a second that Ouyang Liu and his family would disgrace the Federation, if Mozun and Ouyang Liu had come to this agreement, who was Wu Xingyun, an ordinary soldier, to interfere?

After thinking for a minute, Wu Xingyun said: “It’s like this…It would be agreeable if you took my place. Give me the federal transfer order and I’ll give you the job. However, as is customary, you still have to report everything that happened in the three months since your disappearance.”

Noticing Wu Xingyun’s face turn bleak for an instant, Ouyang Liu’s heart sang a happy tune. He showed his teeth, saying: “Sergeant, don’t be too sad. Mozun couldn’t possibly want an unqualified nobody like you. If you were with him, there’d be no affection at all. As for my three months…”

Slowly, Ouyang Liu began to tell his story, beginning from the day of the meteor flow, about how Mozun had rescued him and brought him back to the planet.

No one had guessed it, that day when they’d gone back into the meteorite stream to search for missing comrades, that Ouyang Liu had already long since left.

Wu Xingyun took out his tablet and began recording every word Ouyang Liu said.

But the later parts of Ouyang Liu’s story had no real value. He blabbered on about how Mozun had entertained him, how they were falling in love, no, they were indeed drowning in the river of love and on and on.

Ouyang Liu spoke in minute detail, but Wu Xingyun listened only half-heartedly, busily taking notes without paying much attention to the content.

Finally running out of steam and innuendos, Ouyang Liu proudly asked Wu Xingyun: “Sergeant, you were against me before, what qualifications do you have to oppose me now?”

Not answering the question, Wu Xingyun said: “Captain Ouyang Liu, your words have been recorded. Give me the federal transfer order, and I’ll hand over the task to you. When you negotiate with Mozun, you’d best get a spaceship to take us back, as all our Federation ships were destroyed.”

Laughing sarcastically, Ouyang Liu replied: “Have I not told you enough? Get it clear, this is Master Mozun’s territory. No transfer order is required!”

Wu Xingyun insisted. “I won’t leave my post without the order.”
