DPM Chapter 16-Invitation Part 1
Translated by Snowfall77

Once they had reached an agreement on the most difficult issue, working out the rest of the details proceeded fairly smoothly.

Mozun promised to hold a grand marriage ceremony, both sides witnessing, highest peace accords signed, and a ship provided to return the escort team to Federation territory.

And Wu Xingyun must be delightedly participate in the marriage consummation, while in the meantime, be well-behaved and obediently listen to Mozun.

As for the issue of Ouyang Liu, the negotiations eventually hammered out a two-part compromise.

Ouyang Liu would be kept by Wu Xingyun for the time being, however Wu Xingyun was not free to dispose of him until the end of the honeymoon.

A transcript recorded all the terms clearly, and when both sides signed, it went into effect.

A huge stone in Wu Xingyun’s heart finally fell. Landing in the pit of his stomach, flinging up pebbles and dust, as he became even more trepidatious, thinking of his terrible wedding night looming.

“Solider, I hope our married life will be little happier than right now,” Mozun told Wu Xingyun, then walked out of the tent.

Wu Xingyun could only absentmindedly make an ‘oh’ sound. After coming to this latest understanding, he felt exhausted. More tired than if he’d just run twenty kilometers (twelve miles). For the first time, he let go his propriety and leaned back in the chair, eyeing the two signatures on the official paper, his head in a daze. Taking some deep breaths, he finally exited the tent, telling the crowd to pack up and prepare for landing.

Everyone started bustling about. Only one person stood still, on the edge of the platform, watching Mozun’s aircraft drifting away in the distance.

Ouyang Liu, feeling apprehensive. He’d been hypnotized, all his actions laid out in the open. If these people returned to the Federation, the records and proof would be handed over, and he would be condemned as a traitor, possibly executed on the spot.

He knew it all too well, he’d never be able to return to the Federation. He could only stay by the side of Master Mozun.

But…why hadn’t Mozun taken him away just now?

His innards churning uneasily, Ouyang Liu wondered. He ought to be the one Mozun liked. Wasn’t Mozun worried that Wu Xingyun would harm the left-behind Ouyang Liu?

The last, great secret Mozun wanted, Ouyang Liu held it in his hands. Therefore Mozun wouldn’t abandon him!

Ouyang Liu strove to convince himself, tipping between doubt and belief, finally settling on the explanation that Mozun’s ship was too small. Two people wouldn’t fit. So Ouyang Liu just needed to wait about a half hour and a larger ship would retrieve him.

Indeed, half an hour later, reverberations sounded and a black ship lethargically approached.

It was an outdated Federation spacecraft. The Alliance’s science and technology were limited, even though they occupied half a galaxy. They only had two or three industrial production bases, for which they compensated by using seized goods.

The planet beneath them was even more lacking. Since it was populated by almost all mutants, who didn’t require ships to travel in space, it had taken Mozun a little scrambling to provide this craft.

Suspended alongside the platform, the ship’s hatch sluggishly opened, then the gangway stretched out and across.

As soon as Ouyang Liu saw that, he went to rush onto the ship. But he’d only taken a couple of steps when he spied the escort team quickly approaching.

Ouyang Liu hadn’t forgotten Wu Xingyun pressing a gun to his head last night, forcing Ouyang Liu to ‘voluntarily’ undergo hypnosis. Stopping in his tracks, Ouyang Liu let the escort team go ahead of him. Yet he also fretted about Wu Xingyun leaving him ‘lost’ on the platform, so Ouyang Liu figured his best bet was to board the ship when Wu Xingyun did.

Armed to the teeth, Wu Xingyun was wearing a combat suit, his entire person protected. Ouyang Liu, clothed in ordinary attire that he hadn’t been able to change for a day, felt rough and awkward.

""

Two men marched forward on the ramp, as Ouyang Liu didn’t dare say a word. He was too worried about Wu Xingyun inflicting a well-aimed punch, causing Ouyang Liu to fall off and be morphed into mashed meat.

Everyone was abroad the spacecraft, the hatch closed, and Wu Xingyun took off his helmet. Only then did Ouyang Liu haughtily sneer at Wu Xingyun: “Just you wait and see! I might not be able to deal with you now, but know that your persecution of me will be avenged by Master Mozun!”

Wu Xingyun went ‘hmmm,’ having no interest in paying attention to Ouyang Liu. Upon realizing Wu Xingyun wasn’t going to speak to him, Ouyang Liu felt even more ill at ease. However, the pilot of the ship was one of Mozun’s people, and that allowed Ouyang Liu to imagine himself in a more dominant position. Even more so, the thought of the uncouth buffoon before him becoming Mozun’s official wife stoked Ouyang Liu’s indignation.

Lowering his voice, Ouyang Liu whispered in Wu Xingyun’s ear. “Soldier, I’d advise you to treat me with a little more respect. In the future, we’re both going to be living on this planet. You don’t treat me right, I’ll have some choice words for you in front of Master Mozun……”

Slightly raising his head, Wu Xingyun looked at Ouyang Liu, then down at his electronic watch. Standing up, Wu Xingyun issued a loud order: “Guards, detain Captain Ouyang Liu.”

The heavily armed guards, having no qualms about immediately acting on Wu Xingyun’s order, efficiently subdued the unarmed Ouyang Liu.
Lu Hai wasn’t clear on the specifics of Wu Xingyun’s final agreement with Mozun. Seeing Wu Xingyun finally take action against Ouyang Liu though, Lu Hai felt free to handcuff Ouyang Liu.

Boom…Boom…Boom…

Vibrations came from the cabin as the ship landed. The hatch slowly slid away, faintly scented air whooshing in.

Everybody watched Ouyang Liu, ignoring the fresh breeze and new scenic views.

Even if his hands were shackled, the second he stepped on firm land, his arrogant attitude swelled.

He infuriatedly howled at his rival. “Wu Xingyun, you’re jealous! With your petty vendetta. You contemptible, vile man! How dare you do this to me? I’ll see how you explain this to Master Mozun!”

Wu Xingyun ignored him. It wasn’t his habit to quarrel, let alone argue with a traitor. After landing, there were more important things to attend to.

Walking out the ship, Wu Xingyun started delegating. “Miners and farmers, began exploring. Soldiers, be on high alert.” He spared a glance at the still frothing Ouyang Liu. “As for dealing with traitors, it’s an internal problem. Let’s be mindful of our image…Well…Find somewhere to secure him…” Wu Xingyun wasn’t quite sure of the proper way to shut Ouyang Liu up and restore peace and quiet. It was Lu Hai who happily stepped in, solving the problem via a gun butt to the back of Ouyang Liu’s head. Unconscious, Ouyang Liu’s noise pollution thankfully ceased.

Some of the team found a place to unfold the Federation flag, while others carried their sparse supplies off the ship.

At first, Wu Xingyun had figured there’d be a lot of local people around once the ship landed. Looking around, there was no one. Only Liu Meng and a pilot who hurriedly exited the ship.

Wu Xingyun had also expected magnificent, modern surroundings. Instead, empty plains of grassland stretched on, a few mountains hazy in the distance. A seemingly wild planet, left undeveloped.

“This is the place? Yuanxing?” Wu Xingyun couldn’t disguise his puzzlement.

Clothed in white, long silver hair falling to the ground, Liu Meng elegantly came over to Wu Xingyun, bent slightly and said: “Yes. This planet is Mozun’s primary residence and the headquarters of the Alliance army.”

A slender finger pointed towards one particular mountain. “There, that is the place where Mozun lives. Most of us live there. Just a little over a hundred people reside on all of Yuanxing. I hope you will not find it too lonely.”

Wu Xingyun nodded. The mutants’ demand for food would not be as great as for ordinary people. He’d already known that military production was rudimentary. With a small population, it made sense for the planet to be barren and uncivilized.

Not the paradise Ouyang Liu had made it out to be……

“Mozun gave permission. You can build housing in this area. You will find energy-replenishing ore, if you start mining. As for food and water, there are creatures you can hunt. Three days from now, Mozun will come to pick you up and the wedding will be held at our residence.”
