DPM Chapter 17-Wedding Part 2
Translated by Snowfall77

Wu Xingyun glanced left and right, making sure there was no one next to him. When he turned his head back to Mozun, Mozun’s smile had disappeared along with the strange eyes, only ice-coldness left. The wintery regard of Mozun remained on Wu Xingyun’s face, until finally, in a voice almost terrifying in its tranquility, he said: “You’re right, it doesn’t affect what happens next at all.”

Turning sideways, Mozun added: “I’ve come to pick you up for our wedding. I hope it doesn’t disappoint.”

The herd of people went downstairs, where more than a hundred old-fashioned cars waited. The first car was white, a rose wreath on the front hood. Mozun pulled open a door, standing to one side and beckoning to Wu Xingyun: “Get in.”

After Wu Xingyun got in, so did Mozun, sitting next to Wu Xingyun.

The car started, and the motorcade tailed after, including the dowry members and escort team. The vehicles sped through the city, buildings and scenery flashing by.

Then Mozun suddenly reached out an arm, hugging Wu Xingyun’s waist.

Wu Xingyun turned his head, yet before he could complain that waist-grabbing hadn’t been included in the agreement, Mozun said in a low voice: “Soldier, today may be dull for you, but it’s a big day for me.”

Wu Xingyun swallowed the words he’d wanted to say.

Mozun quietly watched Wu Xingyun, the car speakers playing a beautiful melody with incomprehensible lyrics.

The hand on Wu Xingyun’s waist was trembling slightly. A fact Wu Xingyun was keenly aware of.

The two men were silent. Wu Xingyun couldn’t think of anything to say. Protesting seemed inappropriate.

After looking at Wu Xingyun for a while, Mozun finally spoke. “During my life, I will only have this one wedding. I know you’re unwilling, but I hope that, for this auspicious day at least, you’ll be good. I don’t want to be unhappy with you today…” Mozun’s hand tightened its hold.

“I’ll try to be cooperative with you, but…You’re not following the agreement right now!” Wu Xingyun complained.

Mozun chuckled and took his hand away. Not speaking again, he twisted his head, staring blankly out the car window.

The music in the car was still playing, a love song, lyrics rather explicit.

Thankfully, Wu Xingyun didn’t understand a bit.

After circling the city, the motorcade eventually stopped at the front of a large building, with a lawn roughly the size of four football fields, full of people. Cameras and equipment were set up, ready to broadcast to the entire galaxy.

Tables and chairs were also arranged, with a buffet of food. In the center of the lawn was a podium with the emcee that Wu Xingyun had requested.

Both Federation and Alliance flags were mixed about in the decorations. Mozun’s people and Wu Xingyun’s people were guided to their respective seats, as more flower petals gently shimmered down. The wedding march began blaring. Mozun extended a hand to Wu Xingyun.

Wu Xingyun shook Mozun’s hand.

Mozun seized Wu Xingyun’s hand and put it on his arm.

Wu Xingyun’s lips were clamped shut, as Mozun softly said: “You don’t have to be so rigid about the small details. Didn’t you keep your shoes on, while you were waiting for me?”

Wu Xingyun said nothing. Together, one in black and the other in olive-green, they walked down the red carpet leading to the podium.
A gun salute banged. Simultaneously, beribboned balloons ascended into the sky. It being Wu Xingyun’s first wedding, he couldn’t help being nervous. He took a deep breath, attempting to calm himself.

Two people came to the podium, then bowed to the crowd. The emcee read out the bilateral peace documents for both sides, Wu Xingyun representing the Federation, Mozun representing the Alliance. They signed the documents in duplicate, one copy to be sent back to the Federation, the other kept in Mozun’s custody.

Lu Hai would officially have possession of the Federation’s copy.

The peace negotiations were finalized. The dust settled.

Federation people viewing the live broadcast, some were relieved, others were embarrassed. Wu Xingyun’s parents and three brothers were also watching.

His family had been pessimistic and disappointed before. Now seeing the broadcast, close-ups of Mozun and shots of the environment, Wu Xingyun’s mother sighed. “The Night Shard isn’t bad-looking, and it seems to be going tolerably well. I think it might be alright.”

But the four Wu men were furious at the TV and smashed it.

At that point, for them at least, the live broadcast was cut short.

The ceremony hadn’t ended, however. Flags were exchanged, along with the state documents. After the vowing never to betray, the emcee made an unanticipated announcement, shocking Wu Xingyun.

“Next, I declare, groom, you may kiss your bride!”

“I oppose!” Wu Xingyun immediately exclaimed loudly. He didn’t want everyone watching the galaxy-wide broadcast to see him kissing Mozun. Absolutely not.

Obviously surprised himself, Mozun tilted his head at Wu Xingyun. “Why oppose?”

“There’s nothing in the agreement about kissing,” Wu Xingyun said. “And our wedding is already over……”

“What’s over?” Mozun interrupted Wu Xingyun, stepping forward. Mozun hugged Wu Xingyun’s waist, while leaning in and putting their faces close together. “This is the beginning.”

Flustered, Wu Xingyun murmured: “You said, it’d just be the wedding night, nothing would be in public…Um…”

Before he could finish speaking, he was kissed fiercely.

Wu Xingyun was a trained, excellent solider, but in fighting Mozun, Wu Xingyun had no advantages.

He could only grit his teeth and keep his lips closed tight.

Fortunately, Mozun didn’t intend on going deep. Only coldly and mechanically pressing his mouth to Wu Xingyun’s. A moment later, Mozun slightly withdrew, whispering in Wu Xingyun’s ear: “I won’t embarrass you, so I hope you don’t do anything to ruin the atmosphere.”

Glaring at Mozun, Wu Xingyun did nothing. No matter how angry, he wouldn’t be the one to break the peace over a kiss.

Mozun’s eyebrows raised a little, as he returned Wu Xingyun’s gaze.

After a second, it was Wu Xingyun who shifted his eyes. A burst of vexation hitting him when he noticed the cameras seizing the opportune moment for close-ups.

Smiling, Mozun took in Wu Xingyun’s blushing face. The curve curling up the corner of Mozun’s mouth stayed stuck, but his eyes’ expression gradually changed. Showing infatuation, pain, deep hatred, and unwillingness all swirled up together.

Wu Xingyun was recalling his life, the non-existent intersection between Mozun and himself before their sham marriage. How it was too difficult to forget the history he’d learned and the sacrifices of his comrades. Then he felt the hands around his waist squeeze tighter.

In a low voice, Wu Xingyun said: “Let me go. I’ll try to cooperate with you. Just don’t go too far…”

Again, he hasn’t finished talking when Mozun interjected with a ‘hmmm’ sound. His grip on Wu Xingyun loosened, and Wu Xingyun took the chance to move back a step.

The wedding song was blaring along, as an aerial automated camera swerved down, hovering at a perfect angle of the couple.

While Mozun kept still, looking at Wu Xingyun with an expression that made Wu Xingyun horribly uneasy.

Then stooping, Mozun bent his head and stretched out his neck, kissing Wu Xingyun’s lips for the second time.

“Don’t retreat…I’ll not go too far…” Mozun paused to say in a low voice that only Wu Xingyun could hear.

Wu Xingyun didn’t retreat. He waited quietly, until suddenly he felt that this kiss wasn’t a demonstration, not an insult, but pure, an expression of love.

Well-behaved, Mozun maintained the tender meeting of mouths until plenty of close-ups were obtained.

After Mozun’s lips left his, Wu Xingyun’s face was rather unsightly. He wanted to fight, but it wasn’t the time or place to flare up.
The successful completion of the wedding, that was the most important task.

Concentrating on preserving his composure, Wu Xingyun didn’t expect it when Mozun suddenly knelt down on one knee, took out a small box, and popped it open to show an old-fashioned diamond ring.

Mozun took the ring out of the box and offered it to his bewildered bride: “Wu Xingyun, will you marry me?”
