DPM Chapter 35-Rain is Coming Part 2
Translated by Snowfall77

Mozun said: “It’s alright, Mother Wu, I should consider you my elder. My mom was about the same age as you.”

Quickly adjusting, Mother Wu resumed her chatting. “You see, I always wanted a daughter. I’d originally intended to use preimplantation genetic diagnosis, but my husband wouldn’t allow it. I named my first son Wangmei, my second son Zhaomei, and my third son is called Panmei. So my three oldest sons were named ‘hoping for a sister.’ But when I was pregnant with Xingyun, I also quarreled with his father, and having another son……I was thoroughly disappointed. Since I couldn’t expect a daughter anymore, I named him Xingyun. He grew up obedient, didn’t cry or throw tantrums. He was a good-tempered child, didn’t fight or grab for things. Definitely not bad. Sometimes he’s stubborn, overthinks silly stuff, yet if you coax him, he’ll be soft-hearted.”

“No, he’s very good,” Mozun told Mother Wu, “When he was on our side, everyone liked him.”

Wu Xingyun, out on the balcony observing the scenery, didn’t pay much attention to the conversation between his mother and Mozun, uninterested in listening to his mother’s idle nonsense.

Looking out over the street, Wu Xingyun noticed that it was deserted. All the vendors had put away their stalls, the only movement some disorderly leaves flying around.

Mother Wu kept on gabbing to Mozun: “I think you’re very good, moderate temperament, and considerate. It’s our Xingyun who isn’t very sensible, you shouldn’t be bothered by him too much. Let him do more, think of it as taking care of a younger brother. Just say some soft words, a strong husband should be flexible, right? You can afford to make allowances, right? Later, I’ll make you lotus rib soup.”
Unable to help himself, Mozun laughed. “Mother Wu is a good person, I……Will try again.”

“That……” Mother Wu fretted. “Oh, I’m going to go out and see why my husband isn’t back yet. You two have a nice talk. You’re married, how can you so causally part? After all, your wedding was broadcast to the whole universe, you can’t suddenly get divorced! My Xingyun can’t live with his family for the rest of his life!”

Dramatically claiming she was heartbroken, Mother Wu made Mozun laugh again.

Wu Xingyun, finding it brisk outside, went back into the living room, to ask Mozun: “Dinner has been eaten, you’ve met my parents, and it’s getting late. When are you planning on leaving?”

Mother Wu hurriedly scolded Wu Xingyun, adding to Mozun as she went out the door: “Young man, don’t go. Stay here for one night, I’ll go buy you some toiletries.”

Then only two people were left in the room.

As soon as Mother Wu left, the whole atmosphere chilled. Mozun said: “Your family is very good. Being here, I miss my mom and dad a little……”

Wu Xingyun went “hmmm,” feeling the phone in his trouser pocket vibrate.

Mozun continued: “I……Wu Xingyun, are you really not going to change your mind? As long as you say the words, no matter how many people try to stop us, I can take you back.”

His brows furrowed, Wu Xingyun opened his phone and squinted at the text message sent by Wen Nuo.

The text was very simple, only one sentence. “Come downstairs now.”

Wu Xingyun’s intuition told him something was amiss, however he didn’t have time to mull it over. He went straight to the door and put on his shoes, telling Mozun: “I’m going out, you……Don’t stay here, let’s go!”

Mozun looked at Wu Xingyun in a bit of a daze, asking after a moment: “If I wait here for you, will you come back?”

Wu Xingyun replied: “I have something to do right now……Hey, you wait for me a little while, I’ll escort you back to the star port. Just don’t go running around.”

Nodding, Mozun affirmed: “Alright. I’ll be here, waiting for you to come back.”

Bang. The front door closed. Mozun leaned against a chair by the window, minding his own business with a freshly cleaned cup of water in his hands.

He gazed out the window as he drank.

Outside on the street there wasn’t a single person. Not only was there no one on the street, the building he was in, the whole neighborhood, all the residents were gone.

Mozun’s eyes narrowed. This was a harbinger of danger.

So, what would Wu Xingyun do?

Wu Xingyun should realize that something was wrong as soon as he got out on the street. After he discovered the peril, would he come back to tell Mozun?

Mozun weighed the current situation in his heart. From the first time he had noticed something was odd, up to now, he’d known the enemy couldn’t move that quickly, and that the circle surrounding him should not have closed yet. He also knew that leaving at this moment was his best chance. But he wanted to gamble. He wanted to know. Despite Wu Xingyun’s repeated rejection of him, was there a tiny part of the soldier that cared for Mozun? He really wanted to know, if once Wu Xingyun grasped the threat, would Wu Xingyun immediately return to inform Mozun?

Even if it was just to……Give Mozun a call.

Mozun’s eyes fell on the landline phone in the room, waiting.

Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD or PIGD) is the genetic profiling of embryos prior to implantation (as a form of embryo profiling),[1] and sometimes even of oocytes prior to fertilization……requires in vitro fertilization (IVF) to obtain oocytes or embryos for evaluation. Embryos are generally obtained through blastomere or blastocyst biopsy. The latter technique has proved to be less deleterious for the embryo, therefore it is advisable to perform the biopsy around day 5 or 6 of development.[2]
