DPM Chapter 38-Sun God Part 1
Translated by Snowfall77

The asteroid was ordinary, the diameter of a decent-sized moon, with an gravity system designed to give visitors a pleasant touring experience. Footsteps fell airily, while peacekeeping troops were kept to a minimum. Since the siege had begun against Mozun, the regular inhabitants of the asteroid had long been evacuated. Now there were fewer than a thousand reserve troops remaining, leaving virtually no one.

Stationed in temporary barracks, the reserve troops’ commander received the notification that they were immediately entering a state of war and must prepare to fight.

Just as the commander stepped out of the communication room, about to gather his soldiers for pre-station mobilization, a black smudge appeared in the sky.

The speed of the darkness was extraordinary, radiating a tail of fire. Then, in a nanosecond, the black spot became a dazzling point of light, like a signal flare burning against the day. Feeling the scorching heat rising in the air, the commander quickly realized it was the Night Shard.

Everyone gazed up at the descending blaze. No one would dare to fly a plane at such speed when breaking through an atmosphere, for the friction-produced force would burn out the hull of the plane and kill the pilot.

Had the Night Shard finally reached the end of the road, disregarding his life, or was he that indomitable and unafraid of the flames? Who could know? They could only watch the shining light break through the defensive barriers at full speed, like a meteorite striking a celestial body, sinking into its surface.

The light disappeared, and after a few minutes, the sound waves from the impact reached the Federation’s detectors.

The commander stared towards the place where the Night Shard had landed, chills creeping through him.

The Night Shard’s choice landing site didn’t seem random, being the five hundred years old exhibition area of the Federation Military Museum.

Where was stored a replicated legendary killing weapon, made to deal with the Night Shard, yet ending up becoming the Night Shard’s horrific advantage, the ‘Sun God’ mecha.

Most of the mecha displayed at the museum were mere models, however the fabled ‘Sun God’ replica was still functional, and the one person capable of harnessing its destructive power had just come for it.

No Federation soldier alive had taken part in battles from five hundred years ago, however the commander had learned about them from the history books. Realizing that the paltry amount of soldiers he lead would have to fight against the Night Shard armed with the Sun God, the commander’s first reaction wasn’t bravery for the battlefield, but wishing to avoid it altogether.

He immediately called Shi Fei on Liu-Mang-Xing, reporting the situation.

Whereupon he was told to delay as much as possible, along with the reassurance that a swath of supporting troops were on their way.
It took a little time for the commander to calm down, yet eventually he took a deep breath and issued the order: “Attention, all units, prepare for battle, location coordinates……”

In the mecha section of the museum, the glass dome had been shattered by the plane’s impact, some of the glass glowing red, liquefying into spheres before hitting the ground.

A deep pit of nearly one hundred meters smoked in the ground, small aircraft piercing the dirt here and there, Mozun and Wu Xingyun beside them.

Crossing through the atmosphere, Wu Xingyun had revived from his puppet state, but he still maintained a dead silence, sitting in the pit with his arms around his knees. When Mozun threw him over a shoulder, Wu Xingyun offered no resistance or sound.

Unconcerned about Wu Xingyun running away, Mozun first found the museum’s communication system, sending a message to the Demon Army to meet him. That done, Mozun finally had a little time.

Mozun’s clothes had been completely destroyed, so he found a red banner in the museum, tying it around him, leaving his shoulders and back exposed.

His body was well-proportioned, his muscles brimming with explosive power. In the past, covered by his garments, he’d appeared slender. At the moment though, as Mozun frowned at Wu Xingyun who was squatting again, Mozun exuded the danger of a fierce tiger fresh out of the cage.

Earlier, there hadn’t been an opportunity to talk with Wu Xingyun, but the enemy fighters hadn’t caught up yet. And some matters needed to be settled. Things needed to be clarified.

Grabbing Wu Xingyun’s collar, Mozun threw him under a golden six-armed mecha, the shining armor reflecting off Wu Xingyun’s helmet.

Mozun kicked Wu Xingyun, then crouched down, his voice biting cold: “I’m going to ask you some questions. You’d best be honest. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being impolite.”

Wu Xingyun stayed silent. He heard Mozun’s words, yet didn’t reflect on their meaning. The one thought in Wu Xingyun’s head was that he was about to die.

Mirrored in Wu Xingyun’s helmet, Mozun saw a malevolent face, red eyes gleaming with betrayed anger. An image Mozun loathed. Mozun roughly removed Wu Xingyun’s helmet, throwing it aside.

Inside the combat uniform was a stupefied little soldier, nothing worth remembering.

If it weren’t for Wu Xingyun resembling ‘him,’ Mozun would have never looked twice at Wu Xingyun at all.

Yet, because Mozun had paid attention to Wu Xingyun, Mozun had become infatuated, eventually leading him to the terrible situation he was currently in.

Still, Mozun had never been afraid of bad people. When faced with a predicament, he’d only strive to figure it out even more. Now Mozun needed to be sure of how worthless the man before him was, and whether the soldier had made a fool of Mozun or not.

“Wen Nuo’s plan aimed at my weaknesses. Who revealed those to him?” Mozun turned his head slightly away, tone cold and detached, not looking at Wu Xingyun.

“I’ve considered it carefully. The only person who could tell Wen Nuo would be you. You betrayed me, didn’t you?” What Mozun hated the most wasn’t Wu Xingyun leaving. After all, he wasn’t the least bit concerned about Wu Xingyun. Who cared if the two of them were nothing but mere strangers to each other? It was the selling out and betrayal that made Mozun burn with anger and humiliation. He felt shame for such a staggering error in judgement, how he’d lowered himself by being obsessed with such a person.

Wu Xingyun raised his eyes and regarded the man in front of him.
