DPM Chapter 39-Big Bang Part 2
Translated by Snowfall77

The Federation fleet followed. Where the three stars flowed in strange orbits, and no one was able to work out their exact trajectory.

Mozun passed through the area with great care. The temperatures were very high, an electric arc lashing like a giant whip, flinging out its radian in light years.

If anyone got hit full-on, they would not survive.

The storming brought the pursuing Federation to a standstill, unable to safely navigate the complex environment. While Mozun, in the mecha flexible as a fish natant through seaweed, maneuvered with ease.

Wu Xingyun felt a scorching burn, the heat so high that he could feel his combat suit melting.

Surrounded by a colossal yellow-white radiance, he couldn’t discern anything. For a split second, he even imagined he was floating within a star.

Meanwhile, on the Federation command ship, Wen Nuo’s eyebrows deeply furrowed. He’d thought the terrain too complex, that Mozun entering the system was tantamount to suicide. Wen Nuo hadn’t predicted that the Night Shard would actually go in!

And more terrifying was that, due to the Night Shard’s proximity to the star, his stolen golden armor was rendered invisible.

The stellar system was too large for the fleet to circumvent. Yet if they let the Night Shard escape here, their many days of planning and fighting, the legions of soldiers sacrificed, would all be in vain.

Wen Nuo looked over to Shi Fei, who was pounding on a table and cursing: “Fuck! He got away again! Taking one of our Ghost soldiers too.”

Clenching his fists, Wen Nuo knew there was still another way to kill the Night Shard, a method that was certain.

But Wen Nuo didn’t know whether to say it or not.

“Report! The coordinates of the Sun God have disappeared. We are unable to detect it.” A soldier reported.

Wen Nuo’s fingers pinched white. Finally he looked up, his eyes heavy with decision.

“The Sun God is a mecha from many years ago. Its signal tracker wouldn’t be able to withstand such high temperatures. On the other hand……The Ghost combat suit’s coordinate system is very specialized. Search for the coordinates of the soldier Wu Xingyun.”

Surprised when he heard Wen Nuo’s command, Shi Fei looked at Wen Nuo incredulously: “You……You don’t mean to……”

Wen Nuo stood up, bowing slightly to Shi Fei: “Yes. You’re right. I intend to use a large-scale nuclear weapon to detonate the Tri-Star stellar system.”

“Wu Xingyun will die!” Shi Fei wasn’t a soft-hearted man, let alone an indecisive one. In order to win the war, he’d sacrificed soldiers many times. Still, he didn’t expect that one day they would send someone they’d tried to rescue at all costs, someone who’d personally helped Shi Fei, to his death. Shi Fei found it unacceptable.

Not someone who wavered easily, Wen Nuo’s tone stayed calm, trying to convince both Shi Fei and himself: “Concentrated nuclear weapons in the heart of the Tri-Star system will form a new source of energy. The energy source will spread rapidly and detonate the three stars. The Night Shard, even though he has the ability to navigate space unaided, won’t be able to avoid the explosion. Even if he could flee, he won’t be able to escape the black hole that will form after the explosion. He will die! We’ve sacrificed so many people’s lives, if we give up the opportunity before us, just for the sake of one person, everything we’ve done would be for nothing. Thing would only get worse if the Night Shard makes it back to the Alliance! I……I think if Wu Xingyun……If he’s carried away by the Night Shard, he’ll face worse……”

Wen Nuo’s hands were shaking the entire time, even as his brain clearly told him that this was the last chance. With an extremely high likelihood of success. And a good commander couldn’t make decisions based on personal emotions.

Silent, Shi Fei kept shaking his head, thinking that they mustn’t do it, but unable to come up with a better option.

“Report! The coordinates of the Ghost soldier hijacked by the Night Shard has been determined.”

Wen Nuo walked to Shi Fei: “Marshal! Sacrifice is inevitable in war. As long as it is worth it……A decision must be made.”

Gritting his teeth, Shi Fei still said nothing. He knew quite well that Wen Nuo was right, but he couldn’t bring himself to give the order.

Wen Nuo stopped trying to persuade Shi Fei, instead turning and walking over the communications staff. “Call the Ghost soldier, I want to talk to him.”

Currently being carried through the stellar storm, Wu Xingyun’s suit could not withstand such elemental blasts. The Sun God bent an arm, protecting Wu Xingyun in its embrace, with spiritual energy added as a defensive shield.

At first, Wu Xingyun had thought that Mozun was playing a trick, or that Mozun would suddenly change his mind and throw Wu Xingyun into a star. Yet when Wu Xingyun found himself sheltered at the chest of the golden armor, with golden energy covering him, Wu Xingyun knew that Mozun was safeguarding him.

“Don’t think I can’t bear to part with you.” Mozun’s indifferent tone sank into Wu Xingyun’s ears, the voice sounding weak and breathless. The Sun God was badly damaged, and surrounded by electromagnetic storms, making normal communication impossible. Even if the two were very close, speaking was intermittent. “I merely want to take you back to slowly torture you. To do what I want!”

Wu Xingyun didn’t reply, knowing full well that Mozun was only keeping alive Wu Xingyun for the sake of future punishment. Yet even in this perilous situation Mozun still thought that way? Was Mozun simply audacious, or rendered fearless from stupidity?

Pfff. One of the arms of the Sun God, that hadn’t retracted in time, was erased by the star’s light arc, turning it to flying ash. Wu Xingyun realized Mozun’s mental and spiritual energy had almost run out. Already unable to control the mecha’s arms, Mozun was on the point of dying. If Wen Nuo attacked at this time, the Federation would win. However, when Wu Xingyun turned his head, the fleet outside the stellar system were no longer visible.

Wu Xingyun’s heart gradually sank. Then, to his shock, he heard a voice, an intermittent call sound.

“Ghost soldier Wu Xingyun, headquarters call……Headquarters call……”
