DPM Chapter 39-Big Bang Part 3
Translated by Snowfall77

It was the first time Wu Xingyun had been called since he’d been captured and he couldn’t help his elation.

“Ghost soldier Wu Xingyun, reporting!” Wu Xingyun’s speech slightly trembled.

There came a familiar voice.

“Wu Xingyun. Are you……alright?” Wen Nuo sounded a little muffled.

“I’m fine. But the Night Shard is escaping!” Wu Xingyun’s tone anxious. “His coordinates are……” Before Wu Xingyun could finish, Mozun interrupted: “Don’t you dare to report my coordinates now! I’ll leave you behind!”

However, because of the Sun God’s antiquated communication equipment, Wen Nuo didn’t hear Mozun’s threat.

“Wu Xingyun, I have already scanned your coordinates…” Wen Nuo continued. “You don’t have to report to me. I just want to say a few words to you.”

In the command room, Wen Nuo slowly reached out, pressing a series of buttons.

All nuclear weapons, ready.

His voice particularly gentle, Wen Nuo told Wu Xingyun: “I will take care of your family. I will take good care of your parents, you don’t have to worry about anything……”

Now vaguely realizing, Wu Xingyun didn’t ask anything, merely going: “Hmm.”

“Remember what I told you, that one night before your marriage? That the transmission points had been set up for the Andromeda galaxy? I could leave with you, we could go together, to a place without war……Even up to now, I still thought so. Unfortunately, everyone is destined to have something they must do……”

Wu Xingyun knew. A wave of sadness came over him. When he turned his head, looking through his helmet at Mozun in the mecha’s operating box, his grief intensified.

The enemy was protecting Wu Xingyun, while Wu Xingyun’s comrades were demanding his sacrifice.

If Wu Xingyun could choose again, he also would want to go to a place where there was no fighting, no war.

In that way, the gentle Company Commander would still be a figure of trust and attachment, and Mozun would never have appeared in Wu Xingyun’s life.

“Wu Xingyun, I can’t let go of the Night Shard. You may hate me, you may never forgive me, maybe I’ll feel guilty for a lifetime, but I’ve decided……You……Tell me what you want……”

Wu Xingyun did not speak.

Wen Nuo asked: “Don’t you have a request? I promise you I’ll find a way to see it done.”

The only answer was silence.

Also quiet now, Wen Nuo saw by the Ghost soldier coordinates that the Night Shard was about to fly out the Tri-Star zone. Wen Nuo couldn’t delay his decision any longer.

One last question. “Is there anything you want to tell me?”

“It doesn’t matter,” Wu Xingyun said, “I don’t blame you.”

One moment, then Wen Nuo said: “I will always remember you.” As his slender, pale hand pressed the launch button.

Tens of thousands of nuclear warheads flew to the center of the stellar system, exploding in unison.

The Sun God abruptly turned its body in mid-air, then the whole armor collapsed, falling, breaking into pieces. Mozun was ejected from the operating box, his first reaction to seize the hand of Wu Xingyun, pulling the soldier into his embrace.

An immense shock wave struck, the force pushing Wu Xingyun and Mozun towards the arc of light. The arc streaked through Mozun’s empty arm, immediately burning his skin to ashes, causing Mozun to almost completely lose consciousness. Wu Xingyun began slipping away from him.

Mozun made a grab for Wu Xingyun. The cold, smooth combat suit didn’t provide a good handle, still Mozun pulled on Wu Xingyun’s arm, until he could hold the soldier tightly to his chest once again. A diluted golden shield wrapped around the two people, heaved about in the waves and flames.

It was only the beginning. The enormous energy generated by the nuclear explosion attracted the three stars.

In an instant, the fuel of the three stars ignited, outer shell dissolving into their inner shells. Combined with the nuclear explosion, the three stars formed a new, rapidly erupting star.

Letting out an ear-splitting howl of desperation, all of Mozun’s strength was exhausted. Drawing power from the enormous shock wave, he fled.

He’d already existed in the cosmos for a long time. He understood clearly that this particular kind of explosion would ultimately form into a black hole.

A black hole, devouring everything, from which not even light could escape.

Many, many years ago, when he’d been an ordinary person, when his strength had been weak, he’d struggled day-to-day, skirting the edge of death. He’d been nothing but an small individual with no power, trying to survive.

Now, he seemed thrown back to that horrible time, feeble and tiny against the might of the universe, his own formidable force turned insufficient.

Yet, then and now, his will to survive spiked when faced with danger.

His inner reserves once again rose up. Unimaginably, he flew almost at the speed of light, trying to escape the terrible celestial bodies.

Being clung to, Wu Xingyun raised his head slightly, to look at the enemy.

When the moment had come, life and death decisions made, his comrades had chosen to sacrifice Wu Xingyun. While the enemy had chosen to save him.

Inwardly staggered, Wu Xingyun subconsciously turned on his suit’s power booster to help Mozun move faster.

The new star continued to rupture, and the two men continued to hopelessly retreat.

The state of matter in the celestial body changed, time slowed, stretching on and on. After ten days, the collapsing began, a nullity birthed, quickly forming into a spiraling void of never-ending, consuming darkness.

The black pit expanded quickly, huge stars rapidly swallowed, all matter of space debris attracted, Mozun and Wu Xingyun being no exception.

Mozun was almost finished, his energy shield disappeared, his body unwillingly dragged back by a unfathomable gravitational pull.

Persisting, he put his last dregs into a devastating burst, towing Wu Xingyun outward at a faster speed.

But in the end, his despairing speed didn’t last long. And Wu Xingyun had long since ran out of fuel.

The merciless gravity had caught Wu Xingyun’s body. Mozun held on tightly, yet the metal combat suit worn by the Ghost soldier was easily drawn in.

One useless arm, two legs that had lost all mobility, and the other arm half-paralyzed, Mozun still exhausted every last bit of strength he had, grasping Wu Xingyun.

A mutant’s power couldn’t contend with the power of the cosmos, though. He could only watch as the slick surface of Wu Xingyun’s combat suit slid bit by bit from his grip.

Shoulder, upper arm, forearm, wrist……

Staying delusional about the state of his strength, Mozun kept trying to pull Wu Xingyun back to him.

He would take Wu Xingyun and throw him out of the gravitational range, to safety beyond the event horizon.

Mozun couldn’t see Wu Xingyun’s face in those vainly attempted moments. Only his own expression reflected in the helmet’s visor.

Anxious, panicked, worried, afraid.

Was the soldier’s position in Mozun’s heart unexpectedly that important?

Mozun didn’t know, and he couldn’t puzzle it out. There was just one intent, one thought. He could never let go of that hand.

He shouted to Wu Xingyun, telling Wu Xingyun to hold onto him. However, there was no atmosphere, no working communication device, and sound could not travel.

In spite of that, Mozun kept howling, begging Wu Xingyun to not release his hand, even incoherently declaring his love.

Unable to hear any of it, Wu Xingyun watched Mozun’s bellowing countenance, saw Mozun strive so hard to the last, disregarding the danger. Saw that he was in Mozun’s heart, that he, in fact, occupied a very heavy position there.

Wu Xingyun’s fingers moved. It was easy to shake off Mozun’s hand.

The distance between the two quickly increased. Mozun no longer able to catch up to Wu Xingyun, who was falling back at impossible speed.

Without a last word, Wu Xingyun was absorbed. In the blink of an eye, he’d become part of the black domain.
