DPM Chapter 45-Ambiguous Part 2
Translated by Snowfall77

Wu Xingyun rolled in the bed, a fire burning in his heart.

He gave Ye Fan a hard glance, to find Ye Fan was still looking at himself.

“Annoying!” Wu Xingyun got out of his bed, gathering all the blankets and throwing them at Ye Fan. “Cover yourself!”

After staring blankly for about three seconds, Ye Fan snapped out of it, thinking that Wu Xingyun meant to come share Ye Fan’s bed. Ye Fan promptly made a big space for Wu Xingyun.

Wu Xingyun didn’t lie back down though. Instead the soldier straightened the clothes he hadn’t taken off, wiped the glass with his hand, and looked out.

Snow fell, the snowflakes thick against the black air, riotously dancing down.

“Yun, did you sleep well?” Ye Fan asked.

“Hmm.” Wu Xingyun didn’t turn around, he could sense Ye Fan’s staring.

Wu Xingyun felt somewhat suffocated, his mind chaotic with scenes of Mozun kissing him.

His feelings left him very irritable, wishing he could beat up a certain someone.

Especially when he felt that person’s eyes fixed on him. Wu Xingyun thought it might be comforting if he seized the enemy and kicked him hard.

His voice low, Wu Xingyun told Ye Fan: “I’m going out, I need some air. You go ahead and sleep.”

Ye Fan suddenly reached out a hand, pulling at Wu Xingyun.

It was then that Ye Fan discovered how very good his night vision was. He saw everything clearly.

The clarity of Wu Xingyun’s visage was the same as if the soldier were illuminated by a light beam. The emotion in the eyes. The lips.

They were so close that Ye Fan could feel the body heat emanating from the other. Ye Fan’s keen perception worked fast, even mentally sketching out the shape of the soldier’s thighs.

Snared, Ye Fan’s leg stealthily bent, arousal growing. In that second, he madly wanted to press Wu Xingyun under himself. Get a feel of the real thing.

Ye Fan’s hand used a little force, but Wu Xingyun immediately shook it off with greater force.

The door banged shut behind Wu Xingyun, and Ye Fan realized there was something a little amiss with him.

It absolutely wasn’t normal! Having such thoughts twice in one night.

Ye Fan put on his clothes and picked up all the blankets, worried that Wu Xingyun would be freezing outside.

Although Ye Fan was pretty sure that Wu Xingyun had cottoned on to Ye Fan’s dirty mind. Wu Xingyun would probably begin to shun Ye Fan.

Never mind. Even if Ye Fan was treated with disdain, that was better than Wu Xingyun being frozen to death.

Opening the door, Ye Fan saw Wu Xingyun sitting in the car, smoking a cigarette. Figuring Wu Xingyun must be awfully vexed, Ye Fan told himself he had to act more tactfully in the future. And hide his thoughts better.

Ye Fan took two deep breaths, pulled open the car door and sat in the passenger’s seat, saying: “Is there something brothering you?”

Wu Xingyun went: “Mmm.” Distracted, he was in mental tumult, and unprecedentedly jittery.

His twitchiness was particularly strong tonight, especially when Ye Fan was by his side.

He slapped the steering wheel hard, the shrill sound of the horn blasting.

Ye Fan didn’t speak for a while. Finally he asked: “What kind of person is your wife?”

Wu Xingyun didn’t react: “What wife?”

“Didn’t you say you were married?” Ye Fan replied.

Then Wu Xingyun understood who Ye Fan was asking about.

He thought for a moment before saying: “They’re—someone who needs a spanking.”

Ye Fan tried to digest this sentence for a spell, but couldn’t grasp its essence.

It wasn’t until some two thousand years later, when he knew who Wu Xingyun was, that Ye Fan realized what that sentence meant.

The two stayed silent in the dark a long time. Ye Fan felt there was something he should say. Yet he didn’t know what to say, or how to say it. Afraid of Wu Xingyun having a bad reaction, Ye Fan could only respond with: “Oh……If I meet them, I’ll give them a tough beating. If you can’t defeat them, I’ll help you.”

Wu Xingyun laughed. He tilted his head to look at Ye Fan, suddenly finding the young man amusing and easy to get along with.

At least easier than future Mozun.

When Ye Fan saw Wu Xingyun smile, his brain turned to mush. He kept wondering—if Wu Xingyun had a fight with his wife, who should Ye Fan help??

Surrounded by tranquility, a mournful scream abruptly came from afar, breaking the quiet.

It was the cry of a cat.

Wu Xingyun’s feelings of irritability and confusion vanished.

He started the car decisively, heading towards the sound.

Hearing the cat’s shriek, Wu Xingyun knew precisely the root of his turmoil.

Not because of Ye Fan. Not because of his own baffling emotions. But because an intuition of danger.

Driving the car, Wu Xingyun was completely sure the cat had met trouble.

In a big way.

Wu Xingyun’s night vision was poor, and though the snow had stopped, the white fog had descended again. With visibility less than five meters, Wu Xingyun was guided by Ye Fan.

Driving to the tunnel, at three hundred meters away, Ye Fan’s voice got heavy: “Rats, lots of rats……”

Wu Xingyun peered through the windshield, but couldn’t see anything.

Ye Fan cocked his head, his eyelids lowered, before coming to a speedy determination.

“Those rats have mutated again. They’re the size of a soccer ball……No, the size of buckets! Coming to our side……And the black cat, it’s been eaten by them. I sensed its breath leaving its body.”

Wu Xingyun hurriedly turned the steering wheel, tires squealing on the road. Leaving tire prints behind, they headed for the provincial capital.

It had been a distinctly unusual night.

The balance between the rats and the cat had been broken. Leading to an unfavorable outcome.

The rats had evolved to a higher intelligence and larger volume, killing their enemy, the cat. Now they would likely occupy the entire city.
