DPM Chapter 70-Reversal Part 2
Translated by Snowfall77

Waiting until Ye Fan had departed, Wang Qiang stated: “Elder brother, I don’t think Ye Fan is being sincere. He’s just afraid of me, so he doesn’t dare defy us. After tonight, he can’t stay here. It’s asking for trouble!”

Shaking his head and twirling his goatee at the same time, Wang Ruoxu rejoined: “I don’t believe that’s true. I ordinarily treat him well, I look after him. I think he just wants to repay my kindness. And moreover, I don’t believe he has any feelings for that Wu Yun……When couples face disaster, they tend to fall apart. It’s my favor that Ye Fan wants.”

“Humph!” Wang Qiang gave a deep groan. “Forget it, if you won’t believe, there’s nothing I can do about it. Wait here for Wu Yun. I’ll be outside keeping watch, in case of anything unexpected.”

Having said that, Wang Qiang got up and left the room.

He wasn’t an ordinary person like Wang Ruoxu. He was a mutant, though still with a vague sixth sense warning him.

Suffering a burst of anxiety in his chest, Wang Qiang didn’t know what was causing it.

So he inspected his weapons and equipment, circling back in his thoughts to the fact that Ye Fan’s strength was less than his own. In what way would Ye Fan actually be threatening? Maybe Ye Fan really did hand Wu Yun over in order to curry favor with Wang Ruoxu?

In the bathhouse, Ye Fan crouched down in front of Wu Xingyun, reaching out to untie the ropes that bound the soldier.

The ropes were very tight, and there were traces of blood on Wu Xingyun’s hands and feet.

Then Ye Fan helped Wu Xingyun massage his wrists and ankles.

Ye Fan had originally thought that when he came in to see Wu Xingyun, Wu Xingyun would angrily curse at him, barrage him with questions, or perhaps strike at him.

What was utterly unexpected was Wu Xingyun’s continued silence. Instead, when the ropes were all untied, Wu Xingyun abruptly embraced Ye Fan, fear making the soldier’s entire body faintly tremble.

Ye Fan opened his arms, wrapping them closely around Wu Xingyun in turn. When Ye Fan had first seen Wu Xingyun in the twilight, Ye Fan had wanted to explain his plan for what would happen during the night. But he’d been scared that explaining would reveal a weak spot that the Wang brothers could see and exploit.

Now, however, Wu Xingyun and himself were together, holding each other tight. Their hearts were already connected, there was no need to explain.

Furthermore, even if Wu Xingyun hadn’t known the details of Ye Fan’s plan, Wu Xingyun had still cooperated and put on a show.

After a long while, Wu Xingyun asked: “Why did you have me come back?”

Ye Fan smiled a little: “There’s many mutated wild animals out in the countryside, I was afraid you’d be in danger.”

“Oh.” In truth, Wu Xingyun was a bit resentful towards Ye Fan. Saying things like “nothing but a toy,” and so on. Now wasn’t the time to bicker though. Instead Wu Xingyun said in a small voice: “It doesn’t matter if you don’t succeed. You……Don’t be a showoff, worst comes to worst we can just run away from here.”

Bowing his head, Ye Fan kissed Wu Xingyun’s lips: “Be assured, I have it completely within my grasp. You rest here, no one with bother you. It’s all going to be over soon.”

“Mm.” Wu Xingyun truly was horribly tired. An unstoppable weariness engulfed him, his eyelids slowly closing as he sank into dreams.

Ye Fan carried Wu Xingyun to a dry corner of the bathhouse. Gazing at the man who was sound asleep, Ye Fan’s heart twisted with deepest ache and uncontrollable hatred. The mutant’s beautiful face gradually distorted, exposing a direly malevolent expression, like Death come again.

“They have to die.” Ye Fan whispered to himself between gritted teeth.

In the night, Ye Fan’s figure perfectly dissolved into the shadows.

When Ye Fan came to where Wang Qiang was, he wasn’t surprised to find Wang Qiang already laying down unconscious.

Ye Fan didn’t feel the need to say even half a word. No need to explain to the prone mutant everything Ye Fan had arranged. It wasn’t necessary to blab about the arduous work of infiltrating the other camp of hostile mutants, and then finding an incapacitating agent to specifically use on Wang Qiang. Let Wang Qiang die without ever realizing how Ye Fan, when talking with both brothers just earlier, had released the drug, having blocking his own nostrils beforehand.

Not having the least bit of interest in chatting with Wang Qiang, who was at death’s door, about his long-prepared plan, Ye Fan merely reflected to himself that while he would have liked a little to see Wang Qiang’s beseeching, fawning face, hear the mutant beg for forgiveness, it was best to be absolutely on the safe side and not give the opponent any chances.

Therefore, Ye Fan kept things simple. He picked up the long blade that had fallen at Wang Qiang’s side, raised his hand and slit Wang Qiang’s throat.

Then, using more force, Ye Fan decapitated Wang Qiang’s corpse.

Carrying that fierce-looking, now blood-stained head, Ye Fan strolled into Wang Ruoxu’s greenhouse.

The glass door to Wang Ruoxu’s room wouldn’t open, so Ye Fan gave it one kick. The door smashed to pieces, sharp pieces of glass splattering to the floor.

As a typical person would be, an already drowsy Wang Ruoxu was snapped wide awake by the loud crash. Opening his somewhat vacant eyes, Wang Ruoxu saw a man covered in blood, carrying a head, emerging from the darkness.

The man’s face was stern, destructive, traced with sinisterness, as if he’d just risen from hell’s depths.

Thump. The round head dropped, rolling to Wang Ruoxu’s feet.

Ye Fan spoke casually, calmly: “Where are the books you use to practice? You best tell me, otherwise you’ll end up the same as your brother.”

Only then did Wang Ruoxu realize that the head he’d picked up was Wang Qiang’s. Scared out of his mind, Wang Ruoxu shrieked: “Help! Save me……Someone come!”

Regarding the screaming man coldly, Ye Fan’s blade sliced down, separating one of Wang Ruoxu’s arms from the body: “I don’t have the patience to chitchat with you. You don’t want to say……Alright, I’ll find them myself.”

Wang Ruoxu screeched, staring at his sundered arm in disbelief. Unreconciled, he flopped to the ground in agony, crawling towards the lost arm, blood staining the tiles. As he crept, he shouted: “Somebody, somebody! Where are you damned people?!”

Ye Fan employed the blade again, taking Wang Ruoxu’s other arm. Then, half-squatting in front of the prostrate Wang Ruoxu, Ye Fan lifted the man’s chin slightly: “I cut off Wang Qiang’s head, there is no one else here who is my opponent. I’ll ask one last time, where are the Taoist books you use to practice? If you don’t speak, I’ll send you straight to hell.”

Almost senseless from fear, Wang Ruoxu finally saw the truth, Ye Fan—the man was a bastard and an ingrate, who would actually murder himself……

Wishing he could lose consciousness from the pain, yet unable to, Wang Ruoxu stammered out the words: “A hidden space, underneath this room……Don’t, don’t kill me……I’m usually good to you……Spare my life……I’ll give you the key……You said, you said you won’t kill if I say it……The key only works if I’m alive……”

But Ye Fan extended his foot and pressed it down on Wang Ruoxu’s head, gracefully severing it from the man’s neck.

Voice remaining utterly calm, Ye Fan serenely told the corpse: “I did say that. Now……go to hell.”

In that way, Wang Ruoxu died with everlasting regrets.

Kicking Wang Ruoxu’s carcass aside, Ye Fan lifted up the central blood-soaked futon and saw the hidden space.

It was about one cubic meter, sealed in glass, and locked.

Ye Fan sneered to himself. He didn’t have a key, nor did he want one.

Bang. Ye Fan punched the glass and it burst apart.

Easily taking out the books Wang Ruoxu had treasured, Ye Fan placed them in his pack. Then he returned to the bathhouse to find Wu Xingyun.

Wu Xingyun had partly fallen asleep thanks the fumes of the incapacitating agent on Ye Fan’s clothes. Now he woke up to find Ye Fan covered in blood. From head to toe, Ye Fan reeked of recent death. Wu Xingyun couldn’t help being a little apprehensive, asking: “Are we going to run away?”

Ye Fan stepped forward, pulled at Wu Xingyun’s hand, and clasping it tightly, stated with firm determination: “I intend to take over this place. Beginning now, no one will dare bully you again! Any person who disrespects you……I will cut off their head.”
