DPM Chapter 82-The Death of Dai Rong Part 1
Translated by Snowfall77

Mozun sped to Dai Rong’s northwest base by himself, all preparation for the Federation landing halted for the time being. Wu Xingyun, accompanied by Liu Meng, returned to Xi’an.

Because of Federal interference, Wu Xingyun wouldn’t be able to communicate with Mozun. After talking it over with Liu Meng, it was decided to inform all the mutants about what was going on, so that they would know to be more cautious.

That same night, Mozun arrived at the desert base, his old friend Peng Dawei coming to meet him. From him, Mozun quickly discovered that the local mutants were unaware of the situation.

Peng Dawei had been present when the Federation had taken Dai Rong away and could give the clearest account of what had happened.

Mozun immediately started grilling Peng Dawei with questions. It only took a minute for Mozun to hear how Dai Rong had been tricked.

The Federation invited Dai Rong up to the moon to supposedly discuss specific details of the Federation’s return to Earth. Not unjustifiably considering himself strong and formidable, Dai Rong kept the appointment alone. And never returned.

Peng Dawei had watched the Federal ship take off with Dai Rong. When Dai Rong didn’t come back, Peng Dawei realized the Federation’s treachery. No matter how powerful a mutant was, he couldn’t break through the Earth’s atmosphere. He couldn’t set his feet on the moon. Therefore, Peng Dawei had appealed to Mozun for help.

Hearing all this, Mozun’s anger stormed inside him. He clenched his fists and frowned, but just like Peng Dawei, Mozun didn’t know how to solve the problem.

He couldn’t jump up to the moon to save his friend. Sure, he could travel the Earth, come and go as he pleased. But he couldn’t touch the Federation skulking up there on that satellite.

After circling the base once to try and clear his mind, Mozun slightly raised his head and said savagely: “Find a way to communicate with the Federation. I’m going to talk to them! Also, this can’t be concealed, so don’t try to hide it. Tell all the mutants here and get them ready.”

Anxious, Peng Dawei rejoined: “Is it helpful to tell them? I’m afraid there’ll be a riot……”

Mozun gave no explanations. He just gazed calmly at Peng Dawei: “Do what I tell you.”

At first, Peng Dawei was doubtful that he’d be able to reach the Federation. However, he found the signal between the Earth and the moon was fine, it was the signals on Earth that had been cut off from each other. It seemed the Federation had planned beforehand, and wouldn’t stop until they’d reached their goal.

The entire base gathered in the conference hall, and communication was quickly established with the Federation.

On the screen was three people from the previous Federal delegation. Vice President Lide, Ouyang Yi, and the translator.

“Give Qinglong back and I will let the past be the past,” said Mozun.

“What are you talking about?” Vice President Lide asked. “I don’t understand in the slightest.”

“Right.” Mozun smiled bitterly, “Qinglong had gone missing. I believe the Federation to be responsible. Don’t tell me that you’re not, I don’t care. Just send Qinglong back and I will ignore everything. But……if I don’t see him after three days, I will reduce that moon you’re on to smoke and ash.”

Vice President Lide was again left bewildered at Mozun’s refusal to let Lide speak back. Mozun’s arrogance enraged Lide, yet Lide was still somewhat scared of him too. The middle-aged man’s face twitched as it tried to contain his mixed emotions.

Ouyang Yi, on the other hand, let loose: “Night Shard, I know you’re strong, but don’t be so presumptuous! Your strength is limited to the Earth. Ordinary people, we’re just ordinary people, wanting to return to the Earth. Though only because of our sentiment, not because we couldn’t find elsewhere to go. When it comes to destruction, I’m afraid it’s us, the Federation, that could destroy the Earth. I urge to you to honestly cooperate. Let me tell you, the uranium used to make nuclear bombs? The moon’s supplies are double of that on Earth. Iron ore? Much more than what the Earth has. You want to fight? You aren’t the Federation’s opponents in the slightest!”

The quivering of Lide’s face muscles intensified. He genuinely feared that Ouyang Yi would lobby the council to turn their fuel for space travel into a nuclear warhead.

Mozun listened to Ouyang Yi’s intimidation indifferently, even indolently yawning. “Wow, destroying the good and bad alike. No biggie, I guess. Don’t forget though. Even if I can’t hop up to the moon, you left a lot of nuclear weapons down here when you ran away in such a hurry. Those old weapons got gravely contaminated. You’d surely like to experience them, wouldn’t you?”

“Ohhh.” Ouyang Yi was unimpressed. “You fly that plane, you throw those warheads at the moon. Haha, haha. I’ll die from my laughter. I’ll say it one more time. We didn’t take Qinglong. You want to threaten the Federation? You have no means!”

Slightly leaning his head to one side, Mozun gave an immediate order to a subordinate.

Half an hour later, the Federation requested to have another conversation.

Everyone on the Earth and the moon had seen the blinding white light exploding in space.

The Earth’s atmosphere had protected itself, there’d been virtually no impact. The moon, on the other hand, had its dust drifting like leaves in a wind, clouding people’s field of vision. Almost everyone had felt the jolt. Those who’d been close enough had coffee spill out of their cups.

When the Federation recontacted Earth, the grit and dust still hadn’t settled.

Most of the mutants had no idea what was going on. While those on the moon knew exactly what had happened. Just then—that had been a nuclear explosion. And checking the brightness and luminosity, many Federal scientist only needed a split second to calculate its exact energy value.

Therefore, now included in the talks with Earth was the President of the Federation and their top military commander.

The two sides began fresh negotiations.
