DPM Chapter 87-Death Part 2
Translated by Snowfall77

“Little Ye Fan, when you find this letter, I’ll probably already be dead. It’s fine if you hate me or repent of ever helping me. I can’t know how you feel now. Your life ought to continue for a long, long time. But it will be lonely. Know that I died peacefully, resenting no one and without regrets. Except for feeling sorry to you. I hope we can meet again, thousands of years from now. I believe that the present decision I’ve made will help you then. As for Dai Rong……My life is what I owe him. If there’s a next life, I am willing to pay him back. I also hope you can bury him properly. The body of every mutant is more valuable than you imagine.—Luo Ying.”

Staring blankly at the letter in his hands, Mozun recalled the many ways he’d thought Luo Ying’s situation might turn out. Maybe she’d be executed by the Federation, maybe she’d bluff her way through, or try to claim the new mutations she’d caused were a coincidence.

He’d just never expected her to commit suicide. New grief overwhelmed him, made worse by the fact that he couldn’t clearly understand everything she’d written.

Moments stretched on until Mozun finally left, slowly walking outside.

The other mutants had moved on, making another attempt on breaking through Federation defenses. Only Wu Xingyun remained, deliberately showing his form, posture ramrod straight.

“Where’s Luo Ying? What did you find?” Wu Xingyun asked.

Extending his arms, Mozun pulled Wu Xingyun into his embrace, trying to ease the dull smothering ache in his chest. A minute went by before Mozun said calmly: “She is dead.”

Feeling Mozun’s tears drip onto his face, Wu Xingyun stroked Mozun’s cheek: “You, don’t be too sad.”

“She was the last of what I considered family……When I would think of her still being alive, I could pretend that the world’s last days hadn’t actually come. Perhaps I’d wake up one day, and everything would be like it was before, I’d be at school, back with my classmates……” Mozun’s throat choked up and he stopped talking.

There was a long silence before he spoke again, voice muffled: “Luckily, you’re here……you’re here by my side.” Mozun gripped Wu Xingyun’s hand so tightly, Wu Xingyun thought his bones were about to break.

“The Federation, they have no one else I care about.” Mozun’s eyes glazed over, “There’s no more need to show them any mercy.”

From beginning to end, Wu Xingyun was on Mozun’s heels. When Mozun needed it, Wu Xingyun held his hand, turning the mutant invisible.

Mozun stormed ahead, easily snapping soldiers’ guns into pieces, and crossing the firing line to get into another bunker.

The Federation’s new ship was taking off for the second time, making a graceful arc in midair. But this time Mozun didn’t want to let them slip away. He soared into the sky, chasing after the ship.

Such an unforeseen event left the Federation gobsmacked. The ship’s pilots were terrified, while the grand, important officials of the government and military were about to crumble into pieces from fright.

“What the hell is that?!!” The president, pointing at a screen that showed Mozun flying through space after them, painfully shrieked: “Damn it, it’s a ghost!”

“He’s getting closer. He’s getting closer! What should we do?!”

Nearly everyone watching the scene on the ship understood the truth. If the Night Shard caught up with the ship before it made its leap, they were all going to die in outer space.

“Shoot! Shoot!” The Marshal frantically roared: “What are you waiting for? Shoot!”

The pilots exchanged dismayed glances, and the captain stuttered: “We’re……We’re a transport vessel, not a……We’re not equipped with weapons!”

“No?! Then what’s this?” The president helpfully jabbed a finger at a button labeled ‘BMP.’

“That’s……a newly developed ‘black hole’ bomb. It can form small scale black holes……but we can’t use it. It’s for in case of emergencies! If we use that thing, the moon could be blown to bits. We mustn’t……”

“Why not?! That demon is catching up to us from behind. Can’t you see him getting closer?”

“But……but there’s still Federal people on the moon……”

People’s faces turned pale.

They hadn’t forgotten the circumstances from ten years before. When humanity’s ‘elite’ had abandoned the rest of their species, absconding to the moon.

Was it all going to play out the same way again?

There was only a brief suffocating silence before people frantically made the popular choice.

“I agree!”

“I agree.”

“I agree also!”

Several hands joined together to press the button. The ship’s speed abruptly accelerated while something at its tail slowly raised, forming a white halo.

Not noticing the halo, Mozun also increased his speed. Next he pulled Wu Xingyun up beside him. They couldn’t talk to each other in space, but Wu Xingyun could tell what Mozun wanted to happen.

He wanted Wu Xingyun to make him invisible, then the mutant would stealthily grab the ship and drag it back to Earth.

Because Mozun didn’t understand what the white-haloed raised gun barrel at the ship’s tail meant. But Wu Xingyun couldn’t have known clearer.

That type of weapon had made its way to a Federation military museum.

In early stages, it’d been used as a weapon against mutants. Later, when mutants were faster and even more skilled, black hole bombs became obsolete. Especially once the small black holes created started frequently devouring the Federation’s own warships.

Therefore that type of bomb had been quietly pulled off the stage of history.

However……the present Night Shard wasn’t comparable to the Night Shard Wu Xingyun had known first.

If the bomb hit Mozun at such a short distance…… he’d be shattered and torn. Never mind that he’d just experienced another breakthrough, it still didn’t mean that he’d reached his future strength yet.

Wu Xingyun didn’t pause to think. Didn’t bother to ponder the options. He threw off Mozun’s hand, and with his own force, moved in a separate direction. Using his energy from the center of his forehead, the soldier’s whole figure gradually materialized.

“What’s that?!” A pilot exclaimed, deeply startled by the sudden presence of Wu Xingyun.

“It’s the invisible man! It has be an invisible man! It was making the Night Shard invisible!” The Federation made a rapid determination. “Attack this new target!”

The ship’s large rear gun barrel quickly adjusted its aim. Before Mozun could react, an immense beam of light enclosed Wu Xingyun.

The moment the shell sparked, without hesitation, Mozun expended every last ounce he had to cover Wu Xingyun with an energy shield.

In the quiet of outer space, the beam of light swiftly shrunk to a point before blossoming like fireworks that spread out in a wild wave.

The heavens and earth were mute as humanity, having made their most terrible weapon, used it for the first time.

Not only destroying those they’d deserted, they obliterated the moon, the satellite that through countless beautiful nights had evoked countless hopeful reveries since ancient times.

As it was reduced to broken fragments, all the ordinary people on the moon died.

The mutants desperately evaded the gravitational pull of the new black hole.

While the Federation ship had leapt light-years away the moment of explosion.

Mozun, having exhausted all his power and abilities, plummeted to the Earth.

(Translator note-BMP stands for a series of 8 tests that a lab will run on your blood. But I don’t know that BHB works any better, so I left the button BMP.)
