Chapter 95-Saer Reappeared Part 1
Translated by Snowfall77

Mozun and Wu Xingyun went to meet Wen Nuo. Wen Nuo was standing downstairs, looking much older than the two of them, hair dusted with grey. He also didn’t seem that surprised to see the two men together, merely giving Mozun a nod in greeting.

“This is my territory now,” Mozun told him, “You’ve got a lot of nerve showing your face here again!”

“I came here to tell Wu Xingyun something,” Wen Nuo calmly retorted, “I didn’t expect you’d be here with him.”

Mozun was about to expound on his monopolization of Wu Xingyun, but was interrupted by the soldier remarking to Wen Nuo: “Company Commander, you’ve been reinstated?!”

Wen Nuo’s striking Federation uniform was impossible to miss. People passing by were already sneaking looks, though they didn’t dare gawk too long.

Deciding to get to the point, Wen Nuo said: “Wu Xingyun, I’m here to see if you’ll come back to the Federation with me.”

Before Wu Xingyun could even get a word out, Mozun declared: “Impossible!”

Wen Nuo stared at Mozun and Mozun stared back.

Silently confronting each other for a long moment, Wen Nuo eventually backed down, sighing: “Never mind. Seeing you both here, I know……Wu Xingyun won’t come with me. Still, can we find a place to talk?”

The three men went to the courthouse, where the inner courtroom had been made into a council chamber for the mutants. High-up mutants in the Demon Army would use it to hash out important matters.

Liu Meng and Peng Dawei were already there. When they saw Wu Xingyun, they stood up and called to him: “Wu Xingyun! Wu Xingyun, come sit here!”

Taking in all the mutants surrounding him, occupying what had previously been the always illuminated Federal courtroom, Wen Nuo was deeply hit by the absurdity of it all.

A little over twenty years ago, Wen Nuo had defeated Ouyang Feng in this room, while also gaining more clout in the military.
Until he’d been banished to the farthest reaches of the Federation to grow yams.

Now, when he finally stood here again, a crowd of devils was swirling around him.

Things seemed even more ridiculous when he watched Wu Xingyun happily greeting the mutants while casually pulling at Mozun’s hand.

You were a Federation soldier! How can you be this intimate with the enemy……

Turning his face away from Wu Xingyun, Wen Nuo sedately took the seat that Mozun appointed him.

“I suppose you must have special business for you to be here now. Am I right?” Mozun asked in a supercilious tone.

Wen Nuo sensed the subtle force of Mozun’s question, the pressure of the mutant’s sheer presence. Heartily disliking the feeling, Wen Nuo reminded himself of the mission the Federation President had entrusted him with and forced himself to get on with it.

“Yes, I’m here with no ill will. Otherwise I wouldn’t have come by myself,” Wen Nuo told Mozun. “Although my original intention wasn’t to have an official meeting, but informal……It doesn’t matter. Since the leaders of the Demon Army are here, I’ll be straightforward.”

Indifferent, Mozun turned his head to Liu Meng, telling the younger mutant that he wanted to take Wu Xingyun to the Federal Archives. Therefore, Liu Meng and Peng Dawei should immediately capture the planet where the Federal Archives were located.

Wen Nuo persevered: “I’d been farming on the border of the Milky Way for about twenty years. But just last month I witnessed extraterrestrial life invading this galaxy. I don’t believe they’re friendly. I think they’re highly hostile to humanity……That’s the reason why……”

“You’ve always been stubbornly pro-war with the Alliance. Why this sudden desire to negotiate peace?” Mozun interjected.

“To……fight off a common enemy,” Wen Nuo replied.

Mozun gave a contemptuous snort: “That’s rich. Who was it who broke the peace last time? Who provoked that conflict? Who, with his own hands, tried to blow up the man who was the symbol of peace with a nuclear explosion?”

Seeing Wen Nuo’s face flush, Wu Xingyun shot a warning glance at Mozun. The soldier didn’t want Mozun taking things too far with his former company commander.

Returning Wu Xingyun’s look, the meaning of Mozun’s expression was obvious: “Why should I be polite to my ill-intentioned love rival?”

The other mutants there were used to Mozun and Wu Xingyun making eyes at each other. They thought nothing of it. Wen Nuo, however, felt forlorn observing the couple.

In the end, Mozun decided to indulge to his lover, quit while he was ahead, and not make things any more difficult for Wen Nuo. Mozun stood up and walked over to Wen Nuo, extending a hand in a gesture of goodwill: “Wen Nuo, you dared to come to us alone. I admire your guts and courage. But I can’t forgive what you did to Wu Xingyun in the past. Also, there are some matters I don’t think you have the authority to decide. Nevertheless, I understand the situation. Go back and tell your Federal government that I’ll have an official meeting with them in ten days to discuss this new problem.”

Wen Nuo stood up too, though he didn’t take Mozun’s proffered hand. Instead he took a step back: “I won’t shake hands with the enemy. Speaking for myself, I’m……willing to fight the Demon Army to the death.”

To Mozun’s complete indifference, Wen Nuo then turned and walked away. Only to suddenly stop at the door and look back at Wu Xingyun.

Complicated emotions filled Wen Nuo’s eyes. Unwillingness, disappointment, protectiveness, distress. All his sentiments hopelessly tangled together, Wen Nuo irrationally blurted: “I came to find you, can……can you talk to me privately?”
