DPM Chapter 99-Union
Translated by Snowfall77

Even as the Federation perceived Mozun’s continued absence as an evasion, seething in a mixture of anger and discouragement, Liu Meng also felt that something was amiss.

Uneasy, he secretly sent mutants to the border where Mozun had last been seen.

Yet there was nothing to be found.

The wreckage of warships not yet salvaged floated aimlessly, but Mozun, Wu Xingyun, and the Saer seemed to have abruptly vanished.

As if they’d never been there in the first place.

Mozun himself never expected that he would be gone away for so long.

On that day he’d taken action at a crucial moment. Initially it’d been to protect Wu Xingyun, but as his force had collided with the other’s force, his competitive spirit had awakened.

The two dragon-like beams of light had wrestled in the sky, unceasingly striking at each other. When Mozun’s power erupted to the utmost limit, so too did the other’s power burst out.

A silent scene blossoming in the depths of the cosmos, two lights were rapidly twisting into a single shape, collapsing into a point, then violently exploding.

The ensuing radiation ripped through light years, destroying every living thing in its path except for Wu Xingyun, Mozun, and the glowing Saer figure.

When space reverted to peaceful stillness, Wu Xingyun saw that the Saer person was no longer shining.

Now with a more ordinary body hue, the Saer slowly floated towards Mozun who was hovering in place.

Despite the fact that he’d been around mutants for a long time, along with the fact that mutants tended to be more visually perfect than the average humans of the Federation, Wu Xingyun had still never seen a creature so divinely flawless.

The Saer was draped with a faintly glowing white garment that sloped across the waist, delicately concealing the lower half.

The face appeared noble and inviolable, the body gracefully smooth like a living sculpture carved by the gods.

Staring at the alien, Wu Xingyun couldn’t stop the sense of awe that came over him.

Stopping before Mozun, the Saer opened its mouth, but neither Mozun or Wu Xingyun could understand what it was trying to say.

The figure seemed to adjust its language several times until Wu Xingyun finally heard its voice.

The sound of it was strange. Rather than someone speaking into Wu Xingyun’s ear, it felt like someone was speaking into his mind.

“Hello, I am called Saman. I am one of the Deity’s people. Who are you? Are you my relative?”

Astonished, Mozun and Wu Xingyun instinctually glanced at each other. However Wu Xingyun was still invisible. Then Saman spoke again: “Who are you looking at? Is there anyone else here?”

Using his energy, Wu Xingyun’s silhouette gradually emerged.

Wu Xingyun’s making himself visible appeared to frighten Saman. The Saer flew closer, looking Wu Xingyun up and down, its lips faintly trembling.

It pointed one finger at Wu Xingyun and pointed another at Mozun. Although its lips didn’t move, both men heard it at the same time.

“This is……this is a Dark Temple warrior?” Saman gazed at Wu Xingyun, eyes filled with suspicion. “Why is he with you? Didn’t he betray the Deity long ago?”

Not understanding half the meaning of Saman’s blather, Mozun and Wu Xingyun could only listen, not knowing how to communicate back. Even if they had about ten thousand questions weighing on them that they couldn’t ask.

After making another circle around Wu Xingyun, Saman then eyed Mozun head to toe, finally shaking its head: “Very strange, you’re obviously my relative, but……why are you putting on an act with me? And you look different from the rest of our people……Will you take offense if I invite you to my planet? It’s horrible that you don’t have a spirit link with me……How could this have happened?”

Saman made a ‘follow me’ gesture towards the two men.

Exchanging a long look, Wu Xingyun and Mozun understood each other. Going with Saman would quite likely be dangerous, however there was always the chance that the Saer were not their enemy.

Gaining a deeper understanding of this alien race need not be forfeited.

The two men nodded back to Saman, who exposed a beautiful smile. Spreading open one palm, a white beam of light arose out of Saman’s hand.

The white light formed a spot, the spot became an immense oval-shaped surface.

Rays of white glowed around the edges of the oval, yet the center was pure black without a sliver of light.

Wu Xingyun recognized it immediately. A transmission point.

How long had it taken the Federation to make a transmission point? The space stations, the nuclear energy—how many human and material resources?

While this Saman of the Saer simply turned over a palm and made one. The ability was too amazing, it left a person breathless.

When they’d waited about ten minutes, a sleek golden spaceship appeared from the transmission point.

Wu Xingyun marveled at the beauty of the ship, an impeccable fusion of technology and art, very unlike Federation ships which lacked any kind of aesthetic presentation.

A hatch gradually become transparent, and Saman entered the ship first.

Hesitating for a second, Mozun followed, and Wu Xingyun went in last.

Once they were all inside, Mozun felt nothing amiss. However for Wu Xingyun who was used to Federation ships, it felt all wrong.

The interior was too simple and clear, there were hundreds of gold mecha inside, and most significantly, the atmosphere was foul.

The exact same stench of the thick Saer fog that had befallen the Earth.

“Welcome,” said Saman, “I think we should be able to communicate better now.”

With atmosphere, voices could spread. Wu Xingyun and Mozun cleared their throats, happy to hear their own sound.

“Yes,” Mozun told Saman, “I have many questions for you.”

As Mozun was speaking, Wu Xingyun, in order to conserve his energy, stopped maintaining his visibility.

Yet as soon as the soldier started turning semitransparent, Saman acted uneasy: “Pardon me……you, could you not hide in the shadows? It……makes me very nervous.”

Baffled, Wu Xingyun asked: “Why?”

Having just seen Saman demonstrate its prowess, Wu Xingyun couldn’t imagine how he’d pose any possible threat to Saman. Invisible or visible, what did Saman have to be nervous about?

Saman sighed but offered no explanation. A moment passed and Saman inquired: “Are you……what the hell they are……creatures of the Milky Way? Or are you people of the Deity?”

“We are human,” Mozun told the Saer.

“Human? And what is that?” Saman inquired.

“The species that resides in the Milky Way galaxy, the people who have settled it. The planet Earth in the Milky Way was our original home.” Mozun explained.

Saman’s expression grew very doubtful: “You mean those creatures who have four limbs like the people of the Deity, but no intelligence? And only know how to slaughter each other? Those things are meaningless, let’s not speak of them.”

Like someone discussing a nasty slug, Saman’s face was filled with utter disgust—clearing dismissing humanity as insignificant, beneath contempt, and vile.

Unhappiness surged in Mozun’s and Wu Xingyun’s heart, yet this was first contact with an alien race. Perhaps not all Saer viewed humans the same way.

But Mozun found he couldn’t hold back: “I am one of those creatures!”

Saman tilted its head and eyed Mozun. A moment later, the Saer shook its head: “No, you are not…..you are one of our light elders. You’re like me, you are my kind!”

Taken aback, Mozun replied: “I don’t really understand what you mean……Still, I used to be an ordinary human being until a series of events changed me to what I am now.”

“A series of events?” Saman only looked more confused.

Mozun explained what had happened to him on Earth simply, including the special book he’d obtained from Wang Ruoxu.

Not wanting to talk about the book too much, Mozun merely mentioned that it was written by someone from the Andromeda Galaxy. Saman’s face turned pained and it blurted out: “That’s… that’s Mijia! How is Mijia?”

Mozun could only give his surmisal that Mijia was already dead.

Listening to everything Mozun had to say, Saman was quiet for a long while afterwards. Long moments passed until Saman slightly raised its head, peering out into the boundless universe.

“So it turns out you are the disciple of Mijia……That’s why you possess such abilities. It must be the will of the Deity,” Saman declared.

“The Deity’s will?” Mozun wasn’t clear on Saman’s meaning. “Who is the Deity?”

“The Deity is our spirit form, enshrined and worshipped in our temple, guiding all that the Saer do from birth to death.” As Saman spoke unhurriedly, the Saer spaceship was already approaching an annular planet.

Glancing out a porthole, Mozun got the impression that the planet had been artificially constructed.

And as they flew closer and closer, the sheer size of the planet gave Mozun some misgivings.

Noting Mozun’s expression, Saman promptly explained: “This is the new home for us, the Saer explorers. We created it and it’s only two thousand light years away from the Milky Way.”

The ship settled into a dock, the hatch gradually opened. Saman walked out and then turned to face Mozun: “Welcome home.”

Neither Wu Xingyun or Mozun liked the strange sound of that. What did it mean—welcome home?!

But they’d already come this far. They shouldn’t rashly run before they’d fully figured out what was going on.

Mozun slowly exited the spaceship, Wu Xingyun, now invisible, beside him.

Outside the ship was a level ground covered with verdant trees and lush vegetation.

Off in the distance was a small mountain, dotted with countless awe-inspiring buildings, each one more beautiful and brilliant than the last.

On the ground by the spaceship there were four more Saer who appeared almost identical to Saman. Draped in gold robes and purple cloaks, their heads were adorned with high crowns.

Behind the four new Saer, there were more golden mecha, swords in hand, movements synchronized. Facing Mozun, they gave him a little bow in welcome.

“Saman, is this the light elder you spoke of?” The four crowned Saer asked.

“Yes,” Saman nodded, “This is Mijia’s disciple. I will introduce you.”

Moving from left to right, Saman continued: “These Saer are like us, they are light elders. This is Nawei and Xingling, they are a pair. And this is Kaha and Kuode, they are also a pair. There are only a few of us light elders here. As soon as they knew of your arrival, they came to welcome you specially.”

Having said that, Saman then pulled Mozun to its side: “This light elder is called Mozun. Mozun will replace Mijia as my pair, after which we will live here forever.”
