The Duke’s Aide (2)
Serpence, who had been laughing for a while, got up as he calmed down. Seeing him gently wiping the wet corners of his eyes, I think he laughed so hard that tears came out.

Meanwhile, the brown-haired maid from earlier came back after bringing the cleaning tools. I approached her to help, but she declined saying that it was her job.

On the other hand, what if I lived in the mansion? I can sleep better, move at three o’clock, and I won’t get hit by a wagon while commuting alone to work!
‘If it was a Korean workplace close to home, I would’ve been forced to work overtime and I won’t be able to leave easily even on holidays.’
Serpence is truly a good fairy.
I often have to go out for a night drink without anyone knowing, there’s no way I’d like to have someone to stick around all the time like an aide.
In the first place, Serpence’s a guy who finds his aide cumbersome, but he’s probably only covering that because of his dignity as a duke. So all I have to do is work until dinner, eat dinner at the restaurant, crawl into a nearby lodging and get some rest!
What a perfect plan!
“There is nothing wrong with that.”
Serpence readily answered. From what I heard, it seems that the former aide also lived in this mansion, and it seems that unless you have a family, you rarely commute to work.
“But it doesn’t seem like you’re ready right now, so I’ll inform the butler first.”

A few steps ahead, I saw the maid from before, struggling as she rolled up a carpet that was taller than her own body.
While talking to me, Serpence seemed to be glancing at her behind me, and I think she was just waiting for me to say goodbye before I left.
‘Did you just finish cleaning?’
She seemed unsteady in her walk, so I quickly approached and supported her in holding the carpet. Upon closer inspection, apart from the carpet she held in her arms, in her hands too was a dustpan and a broom filled with the kettle shards.
“I’ll help.”
“It’s okay if you don’t!”
“It’s half my responsibility, I’ll hold a part.”
The maid responded loudly, and she almost stopped me from holding the carpet.
‘I think today is a day for manual labor.’
I walked behind her, carrying the carpet.
The good news is that my body is full of vitality, perhaps thanks to the divine power Serpence gave us earlier?
Thanks to that, I don’t think I will suffer from muscle pain tomorrow.
