Chu Rong glanced at the car door left open by Chu Yan, reached out and took out a small box from the space button there, and stuffed it into Qiao Zhiya’s hand. He gestured towards the mysterious box as he said, “Go, don’t delay the report.”

After the car door opened, passing students occasionally glanced in curiosity towards them. This made Qiao Zhiya also agree on not delaying things further. He swallowed down his question regarding the box Chu Rong gave him, nodded, and got out of the car to catch up with Chu Yan.

Chu Rong, who wanted to watch him enter the school gate, paused when he saw this. Without speaking anymore words, he closed the car door, and left first.

“Welp, he’s gone. Finally,” Chu Yan rolled his eyes, looked at the box in Qiao Zhiya’s hand, and asked curiously, “What is this?”

“I don’t know.” Qiao Zhiya withdrew his gaze from Chu Yan, then opened the box. He was stunned to see a whole row of spiritual power simulators1earring-shaped device that could emit spiritual power to use them for day-to-day usage. Basically, Chu Rong has to store his spiritual power inside the device for Qiao Zhiya to use. inside. Feeling soft and sour, he said in a low voice, “They said that after his pollution value drops, he should avoid using his spiritual power altogether… and yet, that White-Haired Monster…”

Chu Yan was also shocked by his second brother’s rare thoughtfulness. He heard Qiao Zhiya’s trembling voice, and quickly put his arms around the blond-haired youth’s shoulders. Because he was feeling awkward, he deliberately raised his voice and said, “Let’s go, let’s not waste anymore time! Yeah, I.. uh, I will take you to report first. Then we can go shopping after completing the formalities. We have… err, we are quite busy today!”

The gloomy mood dissipated immediately. Qiao Zhiya held back his excessive emotions, and put away the small box. He looked towards the spacious gate of the intermediate college, and the light of expectation rose again in his eyes.

Qiao Zhiya completed the formalities in record speed. Thankfully, the procedures were clear and the teachers were helpful towards him. He got a new student card and could log-in to the student’s exclusive school server. His account was bound to his student ID. All activities, including entering and leaving the dormitory, must be carried out through this server through his communicator. This student server-slash-client2think of it like a student-exclusive app. did act as his pass for the school.

“Our school’s client is different from other schools. It has a little connection with the military department. You should pay more attention when using it. Although the military department will not monitor a student’s itinerary, if you make a big mistake, the military department will call your student client to check your activities inside the school,” Chu Yan told him in a casual manner as he drove his school scooter.

He then saw Qiao Zhiya’s nervous face, so he hurriedly comforted him, “But! This is just a very, very rare case! Everyone usually attends classes on campus honestly, and can’t make mistakes if they want to. This protocol is kinda a safety-net for the students done by the military. Like, at least it has strong firewall and anti-virus capabilities, so everyone can use it to communicate without the fear of getting hacked. If you encounter danger outside the school, you can also use this client to call for help, and the military department will respond immediately.”

Qiao Zhiya thought about it for the same reason, and felt a little relieved. He came here to study. So long he didn’t mess around, he wouldn’t alert the military on him.

After turning off his student client, he got on the scooter that Chu Yan had taken out, and reached out his hand curiously to touch the scooter that looked like a square box.

The vehicle3Ngl, at first I thought it looked like a motorbike because it used the term “scooter”. But I think it looks like those mini-cars instead. was not big, just enough for two people. There were two doors on each side. The overhead window was transparent, which was convenient for observing the outside situation. Compared to the hover car, it had slower speed. However, it was more stable and safe, with a more sophisticated AI technology to prevent any vehicle accidents.

“The one above our heads is a protective cover. If you want to feel the outside air, you can put it away. Though, don’t worry, despite its size, it has very good temperature control.” Chu Yan pressed a button, closed the car window, and put it on auto-pilot mode. Along the drive, he pointed to various buildings along the road, and explained, “You can also use your student client as a navigator, all school scooters are compatible with it. There are electronic guide signs at every intersection in the campus area, so you don’t have to be afraid of getting lost. Just check the navigation when you can’t find the direction, or input your destination query on the electronic guide signs.”

Qiao Zhiya recognized the appearance of various guide signs on the roadside, and nodded .

“This car has a limited speed and can’t drive fast, but it’s enough for school use. Remember to charge it regularly. It uses electricity. You should also prepare a few spare battery boxes in case of emergencies.” Chu Yan diligently explained everything he could think of to Qiao Zhiya in zest.

Qiao Zhiya continued to nod, and then smiled gratefully at him—Chu Yan looked unreliable, but he was actually a very considerate person.

The breeze blew head-on, lifted the boy’s bangs, and a slight smile appeared on the corner of the boy’s eyebrows and mouth. His fluffy, blond hair gave a nice fringe to his emerald-like green eyes. It dyed his beautiful face with a trace of innocence and tenderness, inviting others to approach.

‘Fuck.’

Chu Yan got a glimpse and instantly felt his face blushed. He quickly turned his head away and looked ahead. While his face was a little hot, his heart was a little cold – he now perfectly understood why his Erge was so nice to Qiao. This kind of beauty who wasn’t fully aware of how devastatingly beautiful he is was fucking lethal.

Before, the other party always kept his head down and looked a bit cautious, with long bangs blocking his forehead and obscuring his face. That made him blind to Qiao’s unfair good-looks! Fortunately, he likes girls, otherwise he might have to die in the hands of his own Erge!4CY: Fuck, Qiao looks so beautiful *blush*

CY: Thank God I’m straight tho.

Me: doubt

‘Oh shit.’

He then remembered that quite a number of boys in this school do like other boys. With Qiao’s stunning face and cute and lovable personality, he would be like sugar to ants.

Could the stinky old bacon of his Erge compete with the young and tender youngster here??

It’s over, it’s over, his Erge would probably lose. Let’s hope he won’t be too heartbroken…

“What’s wrong with you?” Seeing him suddenly turning his head to look ahead, Qiao Zhiya leaned over and asked worriedly, “Are you uncomfortable?”

Chu Yan finally snapped out of his thoughts, quickly raised the car window, and turned his head to look ahead in full concentration, “No, no, no. It’s just that I couldn’t open my eyes suddenly because of the wind. Qiao, your bangs are so beautifully cut, please keep it in that style, okay?”

“Ah?” Qiao Zhiya was stunned, and raised his hand to touch his freshly-cut bangs. He nodded and replied, “I know, my parents also said that I look good with bangs. I will keep them in this style then.” After speaking, he smiled again, as if thinking of something funny in his memory.

Chu Yan, who already knew about his life experience, lost all thoughts instantly when he heard his words. He looked at him sympathetically, raised his hand and patted him on the shoulder, and sighed in his heart— Qiao was like this, no wonder his Erge loved him so much. Chu Yan was also an orphan, but at least now he had two older brothers and a sister-in-law. But as for Qiao… well.

The shopping area in the campus was very large. It sold many commodities, and also some random shits that the students put up for sale. Chu Yan took Qiao Zhiya to the most central shopping mall, bought some daily necessities and registered the best school scooter for him. After that, he took Qiao Zhiya to Campus A to give him a tour, specifically to show the blond-haired youth the location of his dorm room. Finally, they went to the dormitory of Campus B.

Because Qiao Zhiya was enrolled in first-year class despite his age, he was singled out and placed in a senior dormitory building, where he became a roommate with a fifth-grade senior. Fortunately, although the dormitory was for two people, they have separate bedrooms. The bathroom was inside each bedrooms, and the roommates only shared the living room. So there should be no major hindrance if they ended up not getting along very well.

Qiao Zhiya’s roommate was not there when they arrived, and the two skipped the process of saying hello and recognizing the neighbors to go directly to Qiao Zhiya’s room.

The size of the dormitory room was medium, and the facilities in the room were simple. There was a table, a chair, and a wardrobe. The bathroom was just beside the wardrobe. The most interesting thing to note was a… capsule-shaped device that looked like the healing chamber he saw before. Qiao Zhiya had never seen it before, so he was a little curious.

“That’s the star network cabin, or starnet cabin for short.” Chu Yan explained, and then remembered that he had no spiritual power, and hurriedly added, “The star network cabin is similar to the photon computer, like our communicator. It does need spiritual power to activate, though. It’s nothing unusual. If you think it takes up space , you can ask the dormitory manager to take it away.”

Star network cabin?

Qiao Zhiya remembered the introduction about this device when he browsed the Starnet using a photon computer. Hearing the spiritual power requirement, he understood that he wouldn’t be able to use it, so he didn’t bother, “I agree. I will inform the dorm manager later. It’s better they take it away, lest I accidentally break it.”

“Alrighty then, let’s go to the manager when we go downstairs to the cafeteria later.”  Chu Yan wished that he could take this thing away, so it wouldn’t keep reminding Qiao Zhiya of his third-degree disability.

The two tidied up the room a bit. Not long after, they left to eat in the cafeteria. Along the way, they informed their request to the manager.

After dinner, it was completely dark, Qiao Zhiya declined Chu Yan’s proposal to escort him back, and drove back to the dormitory by himself in his brand-new school scooter. The process went smoothly and there was no getting lost.

When he returned to the dormitory, his roommate still hadn’t come back, and the star network cabin was still there.  He inquired about it, and the manager said that the relevant personnel was taking a break today, so it would be collected away tomorrow.

He quickly expressed his understanding, thanked the manager and went back to the dormitory.

The grey-haired dormitory manager watched him leave. He recalled the small spiritual power simulator latched on the youth’s ear, and sighed slowly—all the children admitted here were the best of their field, hardworking and relatively obedient. For a youth like him to be admitted despite his third-degree disability… he must’ve worked very hard to overcome that.

Turning on the light in his dorm room, Qiao Zhiya felt it was too quiet for his comfort. He patted his face, trying to psyche himself up. He decided to freshen up and changed into his pajamas.

After washing up, he called Chu Rong via video chat. The Marshal answered it immediately, but because the older man was busy, he only greeted him before hung up again. He did inform Qiao Zhiya that he would call again when his work was done.

Qiao Zhiya looked at the place where the image of the White-Haired Monster flickered gone. He slowly slumped his shoulders, and lowered his head.

It’s the first day of school, and yet he couldn’t muster up any enthusiasm the moment he was alone.

Trapped in his own messy thoughts, Qiao Zhiya tried to snap out of it by checking tomorrow’s class schedule. He forced himself to read his textbook but couldn’t do it. His eyes wandered around in a daze, and finally settled on the star network cabin.

Many products and news he saw on the photon computer had a small star logo beside its name. After checking, apparently that star symbol means that the product/news could be viewed simultaneously on the starnet.

Different from the external network linked by the photon computer (called Starnet), this star network cabin had a different network for its user. It’s called the Internal Network or Internet5Starnet = our internet; while Internet = VR. It used spiritual power to link the user’s physical senses and projected them into a separate, virtual world. There, they could walk, shop, play, do any activities imaginable.

He had seen virtual dating videos recorded and uploaded by others on Starnet. If he hadn’t read the title, he would have thought the location was in the physical realm, not the virtual world. It looked very real and indistinguishable with naked eyes.

To be honest, he was very curious to try it for himself.

He got up and walked to the starnet cabin and  touched its cold, smooth, metallic door. Despite the hesitation in his heart, he decided to lay down inside the capsule. Chu Rong’s house didn’t have this device, and now, there was a ready-to-use starnet cabin in front of his eyes, so of course he would at least try it out.

After the user laid down, the cabin automatically closed. The indicator light turned on, and he could hear a series of beeps as the device turned on. He froze for a moment, then quickly raised his hand to push against the cabin door. At the same time, he raised his body and turned his head to see the structure of the star network cabin around his body.

“An unbound spiritual power signature has been detected. May I ask if you want to bind your account to this device?”
