During breakfast, Gu Yan’an, who was a licensed physician, gave Qiao Zhiya a spirit-soothing medicine. She carefully asked him about his situation.

Qiao Zhiya took the medicine and thanked her, and hurriedly followed with convincing her that there was nothing wrong with his body – his magic power has been replenished, he was full of strength, and he can start the second round of treatment on Chu Rong at any time.

Chu Yan, who was sitting opposite him and eating pancakes, stopped when he heard this. He glanced at the blond’s rosy face, feeling very grateful at his friend. Chu Huai and Gu Yan’an looked at each other with joy on their faces. The old butler standing by the table twitched his eyebrows, looking at Qiao Zhiya as if he was looking at a savior.

The atmosphere at the dinner table was unprecedentedly harmonious, and Qiao Zhiya’s strategy of pleasing the Chu family to be allowed to treat Chu Rong was about to succeed.

“I’m done eating.” Chu Rong suddenly put down his chopsticks, forcefully breaking their “harmony” and “full tacit understanding”. He stretched out his arms and grabbed Qiao Zhiya, and forcefully led him out of the gate of the main house.

Everyone at the table silently watched him take Qiao Zhiya away, and then sighed in unison.

“It seems that the Lao’er is not willing. So let’s treat it slowly. Anyway, his illness has been around for a decade or so already, no need to rush it now.” Chu Huai said, reluctantly comforting everyone.

Gu Yan’an also quickly cleared up her emotions, and echoed her husband’s sentiment. “Let the two of them arrange this matter by themselves. Qiao is still young, and his strength cannot be tested and improved for safety. It is normal for Xiao Rong to worry. Haste makes waste.”

“…It’s not easy for Master Qiao Zhiya as well,” The old butler sighed as he thought of Qiao Zhiya’s weak and pitiful appearance when he was lying on the bed in the morning. It drew another deep sigh.

They all understood.

Chu Yan, who suddenly had an epiphany, put down his pancakes and snuck a glance at the door. With an excited whisper, he commented, “There is no rush to treat Erge’s disease, that’s the point of today’s discussion, right? Don’t you think it’s strange that Erge actually let Qiao go deep into his spiritual sea? Isn’t the self-defense mechanism of the spiritual sea the strongest when we are asleep? So, when I heard Erge say this in the morning, I almost thought I heard it wrong! Even if it’s because Qiao’s power is hard to detect and has healing power, it’s still unusual. The spiritual sea is notoriously private, even parents won’t easily be allowed to enter. The only exception is, you know… husband and wife pair! I bet that Erge was partially conscious when Qiao Zhiya’s magic power ran around. And when he woke up, he didn’t feel anything wrong. So, what does this imply?”

What does it imply? Of course absolute trust and…

This sentence woke everyone up to the core of the “anomaly”. Their rationality came back, and they started to excitedly gossip about Chu Rong’s future love live in a hushed voice.

Outside the main house, Chu Rong took Qiao Zhiya and strode into the building next door. He opened a training room, put him on the ground, and began to take off his coat.

The plan to use the Chu family to pester Chu Rong was halted. This led Qiao Zhiya into pouting because he was annoyed. Looking around the training hall, he immediately realized what he was going to do. Like a petulant child, he deliberately squatted on the ground, and said in a muffled voice, “If you’re not going to let me heal you, I won’t practice.”

He used his most bratty tone to emphasize his point.

Chu Rong paused as he unbuttoned his coat, looked down at the stupid Bald Chicken for a few seconds. He took out a nutrient supplement and a box of green fruits from his space button and threw them to him expressionlessly as he undid the remaining buttons. Finally, he took off his coat and threw them away. Going to the side, he activated an equipment in the training hall, pointed to the emerald jade hanging on his belt, and said, “Old rules, I will let you use both hands. You come at me to grab the emerald jade hanging on my waist. If you grab it, I will allow you to continue your treatment.”

Qiao Zhiya, who was about to have a cheeky temper tantrum and make him compromise, stopped when he heard the White-Haired Monster’s promise. His eyes lit up, and he immediately picked up the nutritional supplement and drank it in one gulp. He stood up and said, “You promised this, don’t go back on your word.”

“I won’t.” Chu Rong sneered, raised his hand and pulled at Qiao Zhiya’s ear, and motioned to the equipment next to him, “Go warm up first.”

Qiao Zhiya glanced at the jade in Chu Rong’s hand, and remembered their last spar. He steeled his resolve to win this time. He needed to treat the White-Haired Monster as soon as possible. He decided to act obedient for the time being, and smiled as he went to the training equipment for a warm up.

‘Really stupid.’ Chu Rong thought as he watched the Bald Chicken walk away. His mood improved; he played with the emerald jade hanging from his waist. He walked to the other side and started warming up.

Half an hour later, the two stood in the opposing part of an arena, ready to start the mock fight. The rest of the Chu family also came over together, scattered around in the training room and started their daily training.

Chu Rong frowned, glanced at the family members scattered in various directions, and adjusted the position of the jade around his waist. He looked at Qiao Zhiya who was waiting in full force, relaxed his brows, and turned his hands behind his back, signaling him to start.

Qiao Zhiya, who had been waiting for a long time, rushed over immediately, with the goal of winning!

Chu Rong, who had insight into his intentions, curled his lips. With practiced ease, he was easily able to dodge.

“Boom!”

“Plop!”

“Snap!”

“Crash!”

“Gululu—”

The two were fighting in full swing, and the people watching the show were equally as excited – as much as possible as they were currently training.

Chu Yan looked at his erge who was “flirtatious” with Qiao Zhiya from the corner of his eye. It’s clear the Marshal was only playing around – his movement was slower with clear tells, which kinda made Chu Yan want to gag. He whispered to Chu Huai, “Dage, why do I feel that Erge is deliberately taking advantage of Qiao… you know, eating his tofu with some movement? Look at that ‘pressing’ move he just used. Tsk tsk tsk…”

“Lao’er is not that kind of person,” Chu Huai also took advantage of the situation to stop his very perfunctory training movements, and retorted with a serious face. He glanced at Chu Rong who threw Qiao Zhiya to the ground and pressed his legs down again, and his calm facade cracked a little. Unable to hold on, he coughed and said, “Lao’er can’t use his hands, he can only use his legs. Qiao likes to attack close to the body, so when he fights, it will inevitably appear that their distance is suspiciously too close. Laosan, don’t think too much about it.”

Chu Yan looked at him with a disgusted face, he said in a drawn-out tone, “Heh, what kind of stupid reason is that? I’m neither blind nor five years old! So even if Erge is not taking advantage of Qiao, he is deliberately teasing him. Which was not the case when he practiced with me.”

Remembering the training sessions with Chu Rong easily brought Chu Yan to bitter tears. This was so unfair! He was being tossed around like a wet rag, while Qiao was just gently being pushed! He was flying because he was thrown, while Qiao was just held down on the ground! In short, this was double-standard! He was unreconciled!

“Go, go, what do you need to do, Laosan.” Chu Huai waved him away like a fly, and then glanced at his younger brother who was obviously full of relaxed smiles in the field, but wanted to put on a disgusted face to concentrate. He couldn’t help showing a kindly smile like an old father. “Qiao is still young, and your Erge may not be enlightened yet. Let them get along like this first, and cultivate their relationship slowly. You are not allowed to make trouble, or your bank account will be frozen!”

This threat was really vicious. Chu Yan shuddered when he heard his dage’s words. He retaliated by aiming from the side of Chu Huai’s guts, striking a sneak attack towards his dage’s lower body.

Chu Huai’s eyes sharpened and dodged neatly. He didn’t forget to childishly give his younger brother a middle finger. He also had a serene “fox smile”, which only enraged Chu Yan further.

As a result, there was another pair of mock battle. Seeing this, Gu Yan’an smiled and shook her head, and went to the sidelines to discuss the lunch menu with the old butler.

The morning sparring ended with the tragic result of Qiao Zhiya being crushed again. He couldn’t even brush against the ever-so-elusive emerald jade. He gave Chu Rong a dull look, lying on the cushion with his ears flattened, letting the sweat drip from his forehead to his eyes.

“Crying?” Chu Rong let go of him, stretched out his hands behind his back, and pinched his flattened ears upright.

“I didn’t cry.” Qiao Zhiya tilted his head and straightened his ears, still looking sullen.

Chu Rong pinched his pointed ears again. He was in an excellent mood, which led him into holding Qiao Zhiya’s waist tightly and lifting him up, making the youth sit in his arms. He walked away out of the room as he lectured, “Excellent! Go back to take a shower, and have your lunch. After that, I will take you to watch the mecha battle in the afternoon.”

Qiao Zhiya was unprepared when he was picked up in this manner. He hurriedly circled his arms around Chu Rong’s neck to stabilize his body. His ears stiffened in shock, then it flushed red as soon as he realized this strange and intimate posture.

This, this posture…

“You put me down.” He blushed and pulled Chu Rong’s clothes while flailing his legs around.

Qiao Zhiya has only been picked up this way by his father… when he was a child. This never happened again when he grew up. Before, the White-Haired Monster would only pick him up and at most, throw his over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Why… did he suddenly carry him this close? This was… if he was laying horizontally, this would be called a bridal carry, right?

Hearing this, Chu Rong looked at him with the corner of his eyes, and asked with an inscrutable expression, “Are you sure?”

In fact, it was very comfortable to be carried like this by the White-Haired Monster. He didn’t hate it, and actually felt being pampered this way. If anything, the mortification of realizing he wanted to be indulged this way was bigger than his embarrassment.

Thinking this way in his heart, he still nodded his face and insisted, “Let me go down, I will go by myself, this is too strange.” He would be laughed at.

Chu Rong was noncommittal, and put him down neatly.

Qiao Zhiya didn’t expect him to be so straightforward. It took him a couple of seconds to get his bearings and let go of his arms. He tried to stand still, but his knees suddenly gave way, and he fell down on his butt.

“!!!”

He widened his eyes and let out a strangled scream. His mind was still blank, and his reflex didn’t kick in.

Chu Rong quickly grabbed him before he rushed to the street, picked him up again, and said, “You have been fighting with me for a whole morning, and I kicked you a few times. Now you suddenly relax, and your muscles are probably too sore to contract properly. It’ll be fine in a while, so rest honestly.”

‘It turned out to be like this…’ Qiao Zhiya turned to look at Chu Rong, remembering the few times he kicked his leg lightly and hard. Afterwards, a strange thought popped up in his mind. Thinking about it, he blurted out and asked, “You kicked me on purpose? Do you want to carry me like this?”

Seeing that Chu Rong’s face darkened for a moment, he hurriedly closed her mouth, tilted his head and rubbed his head flatteringly at the White-Haired Monster. He appeared docile and obedient, once again circling his arms around Chu Rong’s neck and hugged him closer.

Chu Rong felt the soft and perky ears rubbed against his neck. It was itchy. A waft of plant-like scent trickled his nose, making him feel more… comfortable?

“Don’t act like a baby.” Ancestor Chu reprimanded him with a dark face and stretched out his arms to straighten his scrambling head.  He looked ahead and strode towards the main house, and coldly scolded him, “Next time, do warm-up exercises before training. Well, you can’t be perfunctory, or this will happen again in the future.”

Qiao Zhiya, who obviously had a proper warm-up exercise: “…”
