I’m back!! This chapter gets a little too detailed/technical on the forging/weapons-making side, so I have to edit it extensively until it makes sense and isn’t too repetitive.

While Yuan Xiu and Chu Yan were still chattering at the door, Xiang Kun had already walked out from the next door with a strong young man.

“I heard that your precious energy blade is broken?”

When passing by the door of the two, Xiang Kun taunted the crazed Chu Yan without fear of death. His original plan was to run away after stimulating them. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of Qiao Zhiya who came out of the living room with a cloud on his face. As soon as he saw the blond student, the provocative look on his face poofed. He frowned, glared at Chu Yan, and huffed, “Why is this native here?”

“!!” Chu Yan choked. With subdued anger, he stabbed Yuan Xiu behind him to let him go. Then he straightened his messed up clothes, took a step sideways to block Qiao Zhiya who was approaching, and also put on a calm face. With a slightly provocative look, he glanced back and forth between Xiang Kun and Liu Hongzi, who also glared at him back. Chu Yan mustered his fiercest look, snorted coldly, and said mockingly, “Ah, so the two losers teamed up. What is your team’s name? Super loser?”

“You!” Xiang Kun immediately exploded impatiently, his delicate face twisting into an angry look.

Liu Hongzi raised his hand without saying a word, clenched his fist and threw it directly at Chu Yan’s face.

“Damn it! It’s really a fight!” Yuan Xiu exclaimed, pulling Qiao Zhiya back to make room for Chu Yan to fight.

Liu Hongzi’s name might sound ancient and literary, but he looked very strong and rough. His body was full of bulging muscles, he was half a head taller than Chu Yan. His punch was fast enough to have a whistling sound as it flew into Chu Yan’s face.

Qiao Zhiya’s eyes sharpened, and seeing that Chu Yan did not hide at all, but instead raised his fist into his face level. It was a classic boxing posture, the one that Qiao Zhiya remembered. Thinking of Chu Yan’s match the day after tomorrow, he hurriedly broke away from Yuan Xiu’s hand with ingenuity, dodged over, and firmly grasped Liu Hongzi’s hand from the side. He abruptly blocked his fist at a distance of 20 centimeters from Chu Yan’s face.

“What do you want!” He yelled sharply, but because the voice itself was too soft, it had no deterrent effect.

Chu Yan, who was ready to fight back: “Uh…??”

Yuan Xiu, who was easily broken free: “???”

Xiang Kun, who was standing beside Liu Hongzi, ready to attack Chu Yan: “Huh???”

“!!!”

“Private fights are not allowed, or I will report it to the dormitory manager.” Qiao Zhiya frowned and warned solemnly, bumping Chu Yan behind his shoulder to protect him. The blond’s eyes swept across the faces of Xiang Kun and Liu Hongzi threateningly. With his free left hand, he took out a piece of black stone known for its hardness from the storage ring and crushed it lightly, then shook Liu Hongzi’s arm, which could not be retracted no matter how hard he tried, and said, “If you are injured now, you will not be able to catch up with the game the day after tomorrow. Do you want to get a zero across the board for your final exam?”

Everyone’s eyes fell on the black stone that was crushed like tofu, and their eyes were filled with fear.

“Fuck… it’s crushed…” Yuan Xiu could only comment. If he remembered it correctly, it was a black stone, so hard that it could only be cut by a machine. This Qiao Zhiya… scary.

Chu Yan immediately stunned, then laughed crazily. He pretended to hide behind Qiao Zhiya, glanced at Liu Hongzi’s face that flushed like a pig’s liver, and said deliberately, “Yes, yes, be careful or else you’ll get zero points for injuries. Even if you are tired of being the second placer, you can’t directly jump down all the way to the bottom placer, yes? Hehehe~”

Xiang Kun was a student in the mecha manufacturing department. He understood the hardness of the black stone better than them, and he could tell that the one crushed by Qiao Zhiya was a black stone that had not been processed by the machine. The original stone was even harder than the processed one.

This Exoplanet Native was more powerful than he thought. He definitely wasn’t held back by his third-degree disability and needed to be protected by others. Thinking of what his elder brother said at home, he patted Liu Hongzi unwillingly, and said, “Let’s go”

Glaring at Qiao Zhiya, then looking at Chu Yan who was hiding behind Qiao Zhiya, he gritted his teeth and said angrily, “Don’t be complacent, Chu San! This time the second placer won’t be us anymore. I’m going to make sure you’ll never win first place! Heh, you can cry for your weapons now.”

After speaking, he turned around and left, regardless of whether Liu Hongzi’s arm was still in Qiao Zhiya’s hand.

Hearing the word “weapon”, Qiao Zhiya frowned. He let go when Liu Hongzi pulled back his hand again, stared fiercely at him to leave, then closed the door and turned around. The seriousness on his face collapsed into a worry. With an adorable frown, he asked Chu Yan,  “Xiao Yan, did that big man come here often to trouble you just now? And that Xiang Kun…”

Yuan Xiu stared dumbfounded at his transformation from a little tiger back into a little rabbit in a matter of a second. He covered his heart area, feeling like it almost jumped out from the sheer fear and shock — as expected, as long as they were connected with the Chu family, they couldn’t be normal.

“No, no, a reckless man like Liu Hongzi can only be cruel. I usually ignore him, and besides, I don’t have time to talk to him. I need to train.” Chu Yan spoke lies without blinking, and patted Qiao Zhiya’s shoulder twice in a comforting gesture, “Don’t worry, I will definitely win the first place this time, and I will piss them off! Hahaha!”

Then, he got up and continued, “I didn’t expect that kid Xiang Kun to help Liu Hongzi. He used to be a complete loner. He thought that the students in our Campus A were not worthy of his skills. Although he has a bit of a temper, he is still a member of the Xiang family. I hate to admit it, but he was rather skilled in mecha manufacturing.”

“In my analysis, looking at your condition objectively – your main weapon, the energy blade was broken, and you haven’t gotten used to your new one. In the likely case that Liu Hongzi got a new weapon thanks to Xiang Kun, you are… more likely to lose.”

Chu Yan was dissatisfied and glared at him as a result. He barked back, “Are you so unconfident in my strength? Weapons are not good enough to determine the result! As long as I can maximize my strengths and cover up my weaknesses, I can use my skills to kill them. What are you talking about Yuan Xiu? Huh?”

“…hey, that was just an analysis! I know you worked hard.” Yuan Xiu immediately said after giving Qiao Zhiya a wink as a signal.

‘What face is there to hold on to now, won’t it be more shameful if you lose?’

Qiao Zhiya, who had been listening silently without making a sound, noticed the change in Yuan Xiu’s expression. With a tense face, he side-eyed Chu Yan who was optimistic with his own strength. Thinking of the energy blade that was about to be repaired, he felt hesitant to say anything for now.

After tidying up the room, Chu Yan and Yuan Xiu went to the training hall of Campus A for training, while Qiao Zhiya came to the trade area and rented a laboratory again.

It took two hours to sort out the last part of the energy blade to be repaired. He took a long breath and took out a magic stone to replenish his magic power. Looking at the energy blade that had been repaired in front of him, he reached out and touched it gently. After hesitating for a moment, he put it away first.

After returning to the dormitory, the three of them got together to have a lively meal. Then, Chu Yan and Yuan Xiu got together to think about tactics, while Qiao Zhiya went back to his temporary dormitory room to take classes on the VR World. Of course, he kept this as a secret, to the point he had to lie to Yuan Xiu who thought he was going to bed early. After all, the matter of him using his supposedly-empty “spiritual” power has to be kept on the hush-hush.

Early the next morning, Chu Yan and Yuan Xiu rushed to the main auditorium to participate in the opening ceremony of the final competition in Campus A. Qiao Zhiya did not join in the fun, but came to the trade area again, set the communicator to the “do not disturb” mode, and took out the energy blade.

The energy blade, which has been alienated from its internal structure, has returned to its previous power. Because it has been tempered by magic powers, its performance was higher than before. It must be enough for the competition.

But… remembering Yuan Xiu’s analysis, he became concerned. With Xiao Yan’s personality, losing to Liu Hongzi and Xiang Kun would definitely be hard for him. In order to deal with the possible secret weapon, he planned to add a layer of insurance to the energy blade.

After replenishing his magic power, he covered himself and the energy blade with a protective cover, then squatted on the energy blade. With a condensed magic power on his fingertips, he began to draw a magic circle on the energy blade.

This was the second time he has drawn a magic circle on a weapon. The first time was for a giant sword, which almost got him into trouble. This time he thought about it for a long time, and decided to draw a magic circle on Chu Yan’s energy blade. However, he had made preparations in advance. By asking the bearded teacher and looking through the mineral encyclopedia, he found a translucent mineral that could be used to decorate weapons, and bought a lot of them online!

He decided to draw the most common augmentation magic array, which was not difficult. But because it covered a huge area, it required a lot of magic power and had to be done in one go. It was a challenge to the stability and patience of his magic power output.

Two hours later, when the last stroke landed, he withdrew his hand that was drenched in sweat. Instead of activating the formation, he took out a magic stone with a pale face to replenish his-almost dry magic pool, and took a breath before taking it out. He put a top-level metal-type magic stone in the center of the magical array, then activated the formation first. With that, he could try to mobilize the energy of the stone itself to carefully fuse the two parts together –so that the magic circle and the energy blade are connected into a whole, evenly covering every corner of the weapon.

After doing all this, Qiao Zhiya’s stomach was already screaming with hunger. He took out a nutrient solution and drank it. While doing that, he looked all over the energy blade, which now was covered with dark-and-golden gorgeous lines. He was quite satisfied with his work.

However, this attempt couldn’t be counted as successful, as its power was directly halved thanks to the lack of magic particles in the air. Plus, he didn’t need to bother to integrate the energy of the stone itself into the array to prolong the activation time of the formation. This meant that the formation would run out of energy faster than usual, especially because the weapon itself was huge.

Sure enough, model weapons were easier to make as they were smaller, and thus, could be strengthened by just drawing a basic magic circle. For example, the giant sword did not need him to add magic stones to increase its effect, and he did not need to find a way to fuse… Wait–

Why don’t he… just use the energy of the stone to fuel the magical array?

Qiao Zhiya was still fundamentally exhausted, and so his brain circuit was lagging. He sat up abruptly and looked at the energy blade. After realizing what he had done, he quickly squatted down on the energy blade again, stretched out his hand, and sensed the magic power circulation inside the energy blade. It slowly lit up, which made him shriek in joy.

Yes, how could he forget! The energy in the stone can also be added to the power cycle of the magical array, as they were fundamentally the same – energy was energy!

Although there were no magic particles flowing in the air in this world for some reason, the creatures themselves all contain the source of magic elements—life force! Although stone was not a living thing, but because of its own energy storage and indispensability to nature, it does contain some level of magical energy.

In the Magic Continent, everyone would use the magic array to assist in casting weapons. Some masters would try to carve a magic array into the weapon to improve the function and power of the weapon, such as his small hammer. But because “magic” itself was ubiquitous there, only a handful of people would use the stone to “power” the circuit of the array. Because compared to the power inside the stone, the magical particles in the air were much more abundant! Moreover, fusing these two parts was also a very exhausting task, and in the end, it wasn’t cost-effective enough to be a common practice.

But in here… it was a completely different story.

It was different from the giant sword, where he used the array only for the forging process. This time, the array was directly used for strengthening and giving extra effect on the energy blade. That’s why he needed to power it up.

By extension, if this method of fusion formation was applied to minerals, or to draw attack formations on weapons… the effect should be… explosive.

Oh… he couldn’t wait to experiment with it!!

He needed to make a continuous formation, so it could be self-sustaining. Which was quite a monumental task for an array newbie like him. Falling deep into his thoughts, the blond elf touched the dark golden lines on the energy blade that seemed to be shining, his little face flushed with excitement.

After studying this thoroughly, maybe he would be able to produce a large number of secondary mutant red tin ore, and Master Ren would no longer have to worry about the test data of the giant sword. The White-Haired Monster should also be very happy…

Qiao Zhiya’s eyes flashed with excitement as he blinked. He couldn’t help but show a big smile, too.
