Sorry for the late update! I seriously forgor that yesterday was Saturday, not Friday…

Character ListQiao Zhiya: Half-elf, half-dwarf MC.

Chu Rong: Marshal ML.

Ren Mo: aka Master Ren. A mecha master making full manually-piloted mecha.

Chu Yan: ML’s younger brother. Is the same age as MC, currently attending intermediate college.

Chu Huai: ML’s older brother, he’s in politics.

Gu Yan’an: Chu Huai’s wife. She’s a doctor.

Ning Kongran: A fifth-grader at intermediate college.

For Chu Yang, his holiday life has begun — the painful edition version, that is.

After finishing the training in the morning, Qiao Zhiya waved at the pale-faced Chu Yan, then retreated to take a shower and changed his clothes. He ran to the training room – thankfully alone – and took a piece of the mutated red tin ore.

——From today on, besides studying, he was going to do one more thing, which was to process the mutated red tin ore in batches!

The White-Haired Monster must have spent a lot of money to fund Zhuang Yu-jie’s stone grass concoction study. He had to find a way to help him with money. And if Qiao Zhiya had enough money, he could use them as extra funds for his study of the manually-piloted mecha!

As soon as the ore was taken out, the siren in the room began to roar wildly. He was takenby surprise for several whole seconds, then quickly put the radioactive ore back. However, he was too late. Chu Rong and Chu Yong, who had heard the siren, had already rushed over.

As soon as Chu Rong came in, he noticed the residual red tin ore radiation in the air, and hurriedly blocked Chu Yan outside by his body. He stood at the door and motioned for Qiao Zhiya to come over, and asked, “Are you playing with the mutated red tin ore?”

Chu Yan: “…” Play? Is the mutated red tin ore something playable?

Qiao Zhiya twitched his ears in guilt. He ran up to Chu Rong quickly and took out a soothing potion to signal him to drink it, then explained why he just took out that ore. Finally, he cautiously pleaded, “Can I use it for a while? I’ll make sure to clean up the radiation after I finish processing it.”

Chu Rong drank the potion to eliminate the effects of radiation, frowned and rubbed Qiao Zhiya’s bangs. He was silent for a while, and then relaxed, and said, “Be careful, call me if you are met with difficulties.”

“Yes!” Qiao Zhiya nodded immediately, and stepped forward to hug him gratefully.

Chu Rong hugged him back and cradled the youth’s head. He head, then patted him on the shoulder to signal him to let go before turning around and walking to the control panel to turn off the alarm. He also turned on the isolation protection setting and set up a monitoring robot in the corner.

Chu Yan, who was being dragged for being an innocent passerby, glanced at his brother’s dark and obviously unhappy expression. He couldn’t hold back his curiosity, and asked, “Erge, are you really going to let Qiao fiddle with the mutated red tin mine by himself? Wouldn’t the radiation…”

“It’s okay,” Chu Rong answered; his expression getting gloomier by the seconds. But he still said, “Let him do it, he knows his limit.”

‘…this level of tolerance…’ Chu Yan thought with a complicated expression.

In all honesty, Chu Yan always thought that Chu rong was the most likely person in his family to have a wife with an equally strict personality as his. Who would’ve guessed that he would fall for such an unprincipled (still prospective) wife like Qiao Zhiya? The world is unpredictable indeed…

With the permission of his guardian, Qiao Zhiya felt more at ease. He took out the mutated red tin ore again, recalling the way Luo Li wrapped the mecha with spiritual power to process the parts. He sat on the ground and started frantically flipping through his magic book.

If he wanted to mass-produce secondary mutated red tin ore, he would not be able to rely solely on his own magic power. He could only find a way to use other things to simulate the effect of combing ore with magic power.

If it were in the Magic Continent, this kind of simulation would be easy – just draw a few magic circles on the ore, and it would be done. But there’s no magic particles in the air here, so that kind of method couldn’t be sustained for a long time.

But Qiao Zhiya was sure there’s an alternate way to do this. Last time, he used a magic stone as the power source of the magic circles to a resounding success. Combined that with what Luo Li did yesterday, he had an idea that might work.

He needed to find a way to draw out the magic power inside the stone to power the magic circle just last time, but now, he needed that power to automatically process the ore. But that’s easier said than done. He needed the magic power not only to extend the duration of the functionality of the magic circle, but he also needed it to eliminate the radioactive properties of the ore, and to purify it until it’s good enough to be used.

On top of that, he needed to make the whole process automatic and forever looping.

Before, because he wanted to treat the White-Haired Monster at the shortest period of time, the formations he used were limited to the ones he knew. Now that he’s not restricted by such a deadline, he could find a better alternative to solve this situation.

It took almost an hour to flip through the book before he finally found a few combined arrays that were promising. He was forever grateful to his father for organizing his notebook so cleanly.

Combined arrays, as the name suggests, was a formation composed of several arrays linked together.

After choosing the formation, he first took out a large pile of magic stones as a backup, then familiarize himself with the drawing method of the formation several times. He took a deep breath, and began to draw around a huge chunk of mutated red tin ore – it was about the size of two basketballs.

First, he drew a refining magic circle to extract the magic power in the magic stone, then drew a traction magic circle so the power extracted can wrap the ore inside the circle. After that, a heating magic circle and a fusion magic circle were added to the mix, forcing the radioactive parts of the ore to be purged and assimilated to further power the circle. Finally, he drew a purification magic circle and a rendering magic circle to purify the ore and render the effect of the entire comprehensive magic circle.

Finally, his work was finished. Several pieces of dried-out magic stone were scattered on the ground. He was about to strike while the iron was hot to activate the formation, but his attempt was haltedc by Chu Rong’s cold voice coming from the door.

“It’s time to eat.”

That snapped Qiao Zhiya out of concentration. He turned to look at the dark-faced Chu Rong at the door. But he was so close to finishing, so he hurriedly speeded up his attempt – he took out magic stones of different attributes and spread them at the focal point of each arrays, activated them in conjunction, then turned and hurried towards the door.

After finishing lunch as quickly as possible, Qiao Zhiya ran back to the training hall under Chu Rong’s unfriendly sight. When he was inside the room, he saw the mutated red tin ore in the middle of the array was slowly turning purple from the outside in.

Qiao Zhiya let out a noise in delight, and ran over to see it from close by.

In fact, he didn’t have much hope for this attempt. He was already prepared for a long-term struggle, so he didn’t keep an eye on it after activating the array. He didn’t expect that this combined formation would succeed in just one attempt!

He paid attention to the trajectory of the flow of magic power in the combined array, and was pleasantly surprised to find that, unlike the chaos he had imagined at the beginning, the last rendering formation that looked very negligible actually balanced the magic power flow between the various magic arrays very well. It made sure that the magic power didn’t overflow, and stay put within the circle and the ore. Basically, everything looped out nicely, and there’s no leakage of magic power.

It’s a success!

This combined array was more powerful than he imagined! And because of the effect of the fusion circle, after the magic power was spread on the ore, it naturally began to penetrate into the ore, driving the purified ore energy to spread evenly inward, which was much more stable than his own processing!

Marvelous!

He took out his father’s notebook again, kissed several times excitedly, so happy and grateful and proud. This is the work of his father, a genius elf magician who is constantly innovating in various magic circles!

Another few hours passed, and the mutated red tin ore in the array completely turned purple without any impurities. It looked like a huge chunk of purple gemstone.

And because the power of the formation was circulated rather than directly consumed, the magic stone in the refinement formation was not actually used up much. In other words, as long as the magic stone in the refining array was always sufficient, and there’s plenty of radioactive impurities inside the processed ores, this array could be left to run as an automatic secondary mutated red tin ore processing machine!!

This was a surprise. Qiao Zhiya simply put a new mutated red tin ore in the middle of the formation, then excitedly picked up the processed, pretty ore into his hand. He ran towards the training room next door and yelled in joy as he ran towards Chu Rong, “Chu Rong, Chu Rong! Look! I succeeded!! The red tin ore is fully processed!!”

Chu Rong had stopped when he heard Qiao Zhiya’s chaotic footsteps, and turned his head to look at the youth.

Chu Yan first bent down and supported his knees to take a breath and wiped off the sweat on his forehead before looking up. He was  startled by the scene of Qiao Zhiya running over with a big gemstone in his arms. “That’s a huge gemstone, Qiao. Where did you get it? This color is so pretty…”

Chu Rong frowned, stepped forward to take the secondary mutated red tin ore while his other hand tidied up Qiao Zhiya’s sweaty and messy bangs. “Don’t run around. Be careful to not fall. How did you process this? Don’t tell me you’ve run out of energy again?”

He thought that Qiao Zhiya wanted to play the mutated red tin ore because he was planning to create another weapon like the giant sword. He didn’t expect it to be something… potentially worse to Qiao Zhiya himself.

“No!” Qiao Zhiya shook his head, then nodded again. He excitedly replied, “I just drew a magic circle. The ore is processed by that magic circle. The array can be used continuously as long as there’s sufficient magic stone – I mean, jades, around. What I’m trying to say is, the secondary mutated red tin ore can finally be mass-produced!”

Chu Yan, who finally understood their conversation, was stunned speechless. He rushed to Chu Rong to see the secondary mutated red tin ore he was holding with one hand, and reached out to touch it carefully. After finding out it’s real, he patted Qiao Zhiya on the shoulder excitedly. He happily exclaimed, “Qiao, you are amazing! The secondary mutated red tin ore is so beautiful. I thought the color of the giant sword was something you added as a decoration, but it turned out to be the color of the ore itself. It’s incredible!”

Qiao Zhiya was embarrassed by his praise. His ears twitched in excitement and shyness, while his bright eyes were locked on to Chu Rong. His voice was full of expectation as he asked, “Did I help you? Is this useful? Can it help you make money? That array should be able to process other ores, you can try several more, not limited to this one.”

There’s something in Chu Rong’s mind that snapped when he finally understood the underlying motive of Qiao Zhiya. He pinched the youth’s constantly-fluttering ears and asked, “You are studying this for the sake of helping me make money?”

“Yup! So, did it help you?” Qiao Zhiya happily tilted his head so it rubbed into Chu Rong’s palm, like a cat begging for a pet and praise.

Chu Rong looked at his star-studded eyes, his Adam’s apple moved as he felt a spark start bubbling inside his chest. He continued to rub Qiao Zhiya’s ears and cheek, nodded, and said in a slow voice, “It helped, it was very useful, you are very powerful… and very good.”

‘So good that I want to hug you close and kiss you.’

Qiao Zhiya subconsciously detected the strangeness behind Chu Rong’s gaze, somehow making him blush uncontrollably. He suddenly didn’t know what to say, so he held back for a long time, turned around and ran back to the training room.

Chu Rong watched him leave, the corners of his mouth slightly raised, revealing a faint smile.

Chu Yan, who was treated as air by the two of them: “…” Ah! He can’t stay in this family anymore! He needs to run away from home again!!
