Seeing Chu Yan frozen in place, Qiao Zhiya pulled him. He asked, “Xiao Yan, what’s wrong with you?”

Chu Yan turned around and pushed Lin Zhen and Qiao Zhiya back, and said, “Let’s go, there’s nothing over there, let’s look for Star Sand in other places.”

“But such a strong white light, it should be a large concentration of Star Sand…” Qiao Zhiya was not easily fooled, and turned his head to look back while talking.

Lin Zhen was even more straightforward. Relying on his height and skill, he directly slipped away from Chu Yan’s grip.

But then, the ground shook. There was a crash hitting the wall – it shattered and fell down, raining dirt on everyone. The light shone over, revealing the scene on the other side of the wall – it was a mass of black, shiny things.

The giant snake poked its head over at some point, looked down at them again, and turned its gaze back and forth, finally falling on Qiao Zhiya. Its blood-red pupils were filled with dangerous glint, and it hissed loudly.

“What did you feed my child?”

Lin Zhen’s expression changed drastically, and he hurriedly protected Qiao Zhiya and Chu Yan with the team members. He looked at the monstrous snake in front of him, his posture in full defense.

Seeing that he didn’t fool the snake, Chu Yan hurriedly stood up and tried to communicate, “Tha-that, excuse me, w-we didn’t dig up your home on purpose. Please don’t attack, don’t attack, we will repair your home for you. “As he spoke, he motioned for Qiao Zhiya to translate, and stabilize the snake first.

The giant snake felt that they were provoking it, and its originally mild attitude immediately turned fierce. It hissed again, but it sounded like a roar. “My child won’t eat anymore! Damn human, what did you use to seduce it!”

An oppressive force fell on everyone.

Lin Zhen’s expression became even uglier, and Chu Yan also felt that something was wrong. They began to slowly pull Qiao Zhiya back.

Qiao Zhiya didn’t expect that they would actually dig into Xiao Hei’s mother’s lair. After snapping back to alertness, he fully understood what the giant snake meant. He quickly released his magic power to protect everyone from being hurt by the power of the giant snake, and then comforted Lin Zhen and Chu Yan. He tentatively took two steps, condensed the magic power on his fingertips, waved his head, looked into the eyes of the giant snake and replied, “This is something that can nourish the body. At that time, your child was very weak, so I had to use this to temporarily stabilize its physical condition.”

The wood-elemental magic was warm and soft, completely different from the sharp and cold spiritual power of the snake’s. The giant snake lowered its head, fixed its eyes on his fingers, its eyes became redder. Its power faintly agitated, as if ready to wipe off the finger that tempted its child.

Lin Zhen was keenly aware of its attacking intention. He pulled Qiao Zhiya further back, so he could protect the youth better. Chu Yan touched the space button of the mecha, nervously watched the giant snake’s every move, and was ready to fight — compared with before, the current giant snake has obviously become more aggressive.

The pressure in the air increased again.

As the pressure became even more suffocating, it was broken with a screeching sound. The Star Sand under the giant snake’s body was suddenly gathered into a small container, and then Xiao Hei got out of it. The little snake slid down to Qiao Zhiya’s feet while hissing and screaming. It slithered along his body and climbed onto his hand, bit his fingertips that had the condensed magic power, hung on it, and refused to budge.

Everyone: “…”

“Damn you!”

The giant snake hissed in anger, its body began to slither alongside its explosive emotions. Its tail smacked the cave floor irritably, splashing a layer of beautiful sand waves of the Star Sand, and its eyes were fixed on its child. It wanted to attack Qiao Zhiya, but was afraid of hurting Xiao Hei.

“I knew that Xiao Hei is an ungrateful snake. Why did it add fuel to the flames like this?” Chu Yan’s spiritual strength was disturbed by the snake’s hissing, and his face turned pale. He wanted to strangle this stupid snake who provoked its mother’s wrath at them!

Qiao Zhiya was also helpless with Xiao Hei’s behavior. Mothers who have lost their children are easily irritated. They were undoubtedly poking the snake’s inverse scales. (from a legend that says dragons have this inverse scale on its body that nobody (but a select few) can touch. If you touch it, you will face the dragon’s wrath.)

The snake must be calmed down first.

Thinking this way, he first withdrew the magic power of his fingertips, pulled Xiao Hei off then put it on the ground. He looked at the giant snake, spread the magic power again, and increased the concentration, explaining, “I didn’t mean to rob your child. In truth, I hope this child can grow up safely beside its mother. You can feel that my power has a healing capability, and it is not a sinister substance used to tempt beasts.”

The pressure was so thick, making it hard to breathe. But Qiao Zhiya managed to concentrate this magic power, and it successfully alerted Xiao Hei. It poked its head up, and happily wandered around the place where the magic power was floating, looking like it had overdosed on drugs.

The giant snake used to resist the magic power because of the child, but now passively sensed his power. It immediately realized what was wrong, its eyes moved, and slowly stopped slithering. It bowed its head and wrapped Xiao Hei in it, hissing, “Get out of here, and never get any closer.”

“Okay, we promise we won’t intrude again.” Qiao Zhiya breathed a sigh of relief and took a step back.

The pressure in the air dropped, and Lin Zhen noticed it immediately. He aggressively whispered, gasping in between words, “What’s going on?

Qiao Zhiya signaled everyone to back off, and said, “Let’s go first, it has been appeased for the time being.”

Lin Zhen nodded, glanced at the giant snake that was still staring at them. He first pushed Chu Yan to the side of the earth wall, and then held Qiao Zhiya’s hand. He led his team back slowly.

“But the Star Sand…” Chu Yan muttered in a low voice, but quickly swallowed it back.

Although the object of their mission was within reach, preserving their life was leagues ahead in the scale of priority. This Star Sandwas is the private property of the giant snake. They wanted to grab the Star Sand from under the giant snake’s buttocks, which was tantamount to pulling a tooth out of a tiger’s mouth.

Qiao Zhiya also glanced at the Star Sand wistfully. Thinking that it was something that Chu Rong needed very much, and felt a little reluctant, but… He forced himself to look back, and cooperated with Lin Zhen to retreat.

Compared with Star Sand, his companion’s life was much, much more important.

Just when everyone was about to leave completely, Xiao Hei, who was engulfed by the giant snake, somehow broke free. It slid down again, and hung on Qiao Zhiya flexibly and skillfully, as if he didn’t want him to leave.

Lin Zhen stopped, the giant snake’s red pupils widened, and the pressure in the air increased again.

Qiao Zhiya: “…”

“Fuck!” Chu Yan couldn’t help but swear.

The snake hissed again. This time the giant snake was unwilling to communicate, flicked its tail angrily, opened its mouth wide and rushed straight at the crowd. Lin Zhen was shocked, and wanted to take out his mecha, but found that the mecha couldn’t be taken out because of the narrow cavern!

“Third Young Master, go first!”

He decisively pushed Chu Yan further away from the cave, and then pressed Qiao Zhiya’s shoulder hard, trying to throw him to Chu Yan’s side.

At this very moment, Qiao Zhiya’s magical power suddenly increased, and he broke free from Lin Zhen’s hand. He rushed forward to stand in front of the giant snake, blocking the giant snake’s blow with the only earth attack spell he knew.

“Your child just likes to eat my power! It’s not going to follow me!”

He roared loudly, suppressing all the magic power into his voice. He bent slightly to assume a non-aggressive posture, looked up at the giant beast, and said anxiously, “Your child may be about to shed its skin. So it wants my power because it can help it shed. Please calm down!”

He then lifted Xiao Hei up and brought him closer to the giant snake, indicating that he had no intention of snatching the child.

He has just discovered that the Star Sand on the ground was mixed with some shed skins – it should be used as an abrasive material that can help the shedding process, especially because the giant snake’s scales were special. As soon as the giant snake found Xiao Hei, it brought it here, and kept driving them away, probably to prepare for Xiao Hei’s shedding.

The giant snake’s attack suddenly stopped, and its eyes were fixed on Xiao Hei who was still in his hand. It began to wriggle anxiously, it hissed as it tried to communicate with its child. It seemed to understand that Qiao Zhiya was telling the truth, especially because the little snake was taking the initiative to go after his magic power.

Lin Zhen was taken aback by Qiao Zhiya’s actions. Chu Yan squeezed back directly, eager to step forward to pull Qiao Zhiya back, but was stopped by Lin Zhen who had regained his senses.

“Wait, Qiao seems to be communicating with this strange beast, don’t provoke it!”

After he finished speaking, he forcefully pushed Chu Yan back to the hole, and asked the team members to watch him. He stared at Qiao Zhiya, reading to leap into action the moment this negotiation soured.

“In addition to my own strength, I also have this.”

Seeing that the giant snake stopped attacking, Qiao Zhiya slowed down his speech, and slowly took out a potion. He opened it to let the smell of the potion out. He ignored Xiao Hei who was wriggling happily, eager to drink the potion. He continued, “This is a potion of my people. It also contains a lot of power that is good for soothing the emotions of beasts. If you need it, I can give it to you.”

Adding the magic power to the potion, Xiao Hei happily ate his fill. Its body slowly relaxed, and it lulled back to a peaceful sleep.

The giant snake was happy – its child was very active and naughty, but it was easily pacified into sleep like this. It slowly calmed down, lowered its head, and coiled up around its child to protect it.

Seeing that Qiao Zhiya kept the same posture the whole time without stopping, it hesitated for a moment before it took a sip of the potion. A gentle power coursed through its body, warming it up comfortably. It quietly looked at Qiao Zhiya in question and wonder, then stretched its head over to meet him. It used its forked tongue to sniff him, asking, “This is a very gentle force, are you my kin?”

‘Huh? The same kin?’

Qiao Zhiya tentatively retracted his hand. Seeing the snake only looked at him in this strangely gentle gaze, his ears twitched, feeling a little embarrassed.

Although this giant snake has gained some level of sapience, it hasn’t reached the level of humans. It thought that those who can communicate were of its kind.

“No,” He shook his head, with a smile on his face, he replied in Elvish – the language that Lin Zhen and the others couldn’t understand. “However, I’m not human. Look at my ears, they are different from human’s, so I won’t hurt you. If you need my help with anything, you can say it.”

The atmosphere became completely friendly.

The elf-dwarf boy and the giant snake started to properly communicate in an unfamiliar language. Their conversation seemed to be great, which confused Lin Zhen and the others.

“Captain,” One of the team members called in confusion.

Lin Zhen shook his head, motioning for him to keep silent, but did not let down his vigilance.

After some exchanges, Qiao Zhiya completely relaxed. He turned his head to signal Lin Zhen and others to rest in place, then took out various materials and pharmaceutical tools, and immersed himself in making the potion. The giant snake stood by his side, and its red eyes were facing Lin Zhen, as if afraid that they would disturb Qiao Zhiya.

Chu Yan was about to die from sheer anxiety. He struggled to go forward, wanting to be by Qiao Zhiya’s side. Lin Zhen frowned, glanced at the pharmaceutical tools in Qiao Zhiya’s hand, and guessed that Qiao Zhiya and the giant snake had reached a certain consensus. He hesitated, but ultimately decided to let the two have their privacy while they rested on the other side.

After making the potion, Qiao Zhiya drew a magic circle. Thanks to the potent power contained in the Star Sand, drawing a magic circle here should be able to last indefinitely. Even if the Star Sand is exhausted one day, there is still the power of the giant snake to support the array.

As soon as the formation was activated, a gentle force spread in the cave. The giant snake comfortably closed its eyes and stretched out its tongue.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome,” Qiao Zhiya clapped his hands and put the potion in the center of the magic circle. “These should be enough for Xiao Hei to shed his skin more than a dozen times. In return… may I have a portion of this sand?”

The giant snake gave him a gentle look, and slid its body to let out a small mound of Star Sand.

Lin Zhen and others stared dumbfounded at Qiao Zhiya, who took a large box and unhesitantly scooped a handful of Star Sand directly under the giant snake. They felt that they probably had hallucinations from exhaustion

They got the Star Sand like this? So easily?

Qiao Zhiya put the box in his storage ring. He then walked forward, closer to the giant snake. “Then I’ll be leaving. I will come to see you and Xiao Hei again when I have a chance. I will send someone to bring some potion and put it on the mountain, please remember to collect it.”

The giant snake stretched out its tongue as a sign of agreement. It rolled out Xiao Hei to show it to him, then swiped his tail. With that move, Qiao Zhiya and his team were all swept out of the cave.

The giant snake slithered off deeper into the cavern, then forced a cavern collapse, sealing the entrance from any human annoyances.
