Yuan Xiu: Chu Yan’s bestfriend.

Qiu Guangji: Ning Kongran’s best friend.

Bearded Teacher aka Master Shang: Qiao Zhiya’s Mecha teacher in VR. Chu Rong’s mother’s teacher. Is currently a mecha manufacturing teacher.

Luo Li: Qiao Zhiya’s senior older brother. He won the online Mecha Manufacturing Contest. Now Qiao Zhiya’s (and Sang Bu’s) homeroom teacher.

Long Ruifeng: the President.

Long Baorou: the President’s daughter.

An Leen: Imperial Princess.

An Tyn: Imperial Prince, An Leen’s twin brother.

The Xiang-Wei found that the recent atmosphere of the Chu family was a bit strange. They kept rectifying and adjusting their own army, and the personnel changes were very frequent. The two families made a lot of guesses and looked around, but they couldn’t find the reason why. All they could do was to prepare for all kinds of situations, if the Chu family decided to suddenly attack them.

The President lost the support of the You family and was powerless. At the same time, there was news from the Empire that the old Emperor decided to recall Prince An Tyn and Princess An Leen because of the recent turmoil of the Empire’s political landscape. He cited that due to his first son’s sudden coup, he decided to more strictly cultivate his remaining children.

A few days later, it was confirmed that besides the Imperial Twins, several other Imperial students would also leave with them at the end of the current semester.

This represents the complete breakdown of the alliance between the President and the Empire. Obviously, the President’s previous approach with the First Prince angered the Emperor. The old Emperor cleared up all those officials and reorganized everything.

On this day, Princess An Leen did not go to the seventh round of the Star Network Mecha Manufacture Match. Instead, she sat in a hotel room in the military trade area with Prince An Tyn and exchanged information about the Empire.

“It’s finally here.”

An Leen, who looked more mature than before, gently turned the tea cup in front of her. She casted aside her extravagant clothes and accessories, opting to only wear her simple school uniform. With her long hair tied up, she looked like a different person, with a hint of valor between her brows that she didn’t have before.

“I used to think that the Empire was the best, but now I find that the Federation is so good, I don’t want to go back.” She sighed, watching her hands roughened by the morning exercises every day, showing a hint of trembling.

She once mocked Long Baorou as a “fake princess”. Now, it seemed that the ignorant person was actually herself. Even if Long Baorou was a fake princess, she was better than her. She could be herself, and chose her own path in life. She didn’t need to fake her entire personality all the time. She didn’t have blood-related siblings that appear nice on the outside, but secretly stabbed her in the back.

She’s envious of such freedom.

The Imperial Royal Family maintained an ancient tradition. The Emperor could have multiple wives. Her mother was just a civilian girl that was collected on the Emperor’s whim. She had no political power or wealth.

An Leen once thought that she was the most honorable of all her sisters, as she was the Emperor’s most favored daughter. Yet the truth slapped her hard in the face.

In order to win over an upstart noble, her father actually wanted her to marry an uncle that was older than her by multiple times. It could be said that this “study abroad” trip saved her. At the time, she was so aggressive in pursuing Chu Rong for this reason also.

“Ge, you are right. We have no way back. This time, Father will definitely marry me off. And you…” She looked at An Tyn with sad eyes, “There is one less prince. But there’s still the Second, the Third, and the Fourth… what will you do?”

Similarly, An Tyn, who had become more mature, reached out and took her hand. His tone was firm. “No, you will not be married off at all, and I will be fine. I was confused before, always holding the identity of a ‘Prince’. No need to worry, we have a way to escape. Everything will be resolved.”

An Leen understood what An Tyn left unsaid. She anxiously asked, “What do you want to do? Don’t be impulsive.”

“Nothing, I’ll just apologize to the Chu family.” Prince An Tyn clenched her hand tightly and laughed at himself, saying, “This time I have carefully observed the situation of everyone in the Federation and found that your choice was not wrong. Chu Rong is indeed the most worthy person to win over. However, our previous method is used wrongly and we have put ourselves in the wrong position.”

“Ge?” An Leen became more worried.

An Tyn smiled at her, then got up and hugged her. “Don’t be afraid, I will protect you.”

The content of the seventh round of the competition was to build a mecha’s arms. This is an important piece. It is the key to the mecha’s flexibility in using weapons. Qiao Zhiya did it very seriously and completed the game before the timer ran out.

This time Chu Rong didn’t watch the full game and only made a bet to show his support before going offline — he has been too busy lately.

After a few more days, the Ning family heard news that Elder Ning had relapsed and his health deteriorated. As a grandson, Ning Kong’an decided to stay at the Ning family as a sign of filial piety in place of his mother. He didn’t return to the Empire for the time being.

The old Emperor who learned of this matter praised his filial piety vigorously, and sent a batch of rare medicinal materials for Elder Ning.

Immediately after, Jian chose to stay in the Federation on the grounds of his poor health, as he couldn’t stand too much interstellar travel. This was too unreasonable, but the old Emperor still agreed, and indirectly expressed kindness and tolerance towards the Imperial High Advisor.

Jexiu and Charmmi were to return to the Empire alongside the Imperial Twins. Jexiu challenged Chu Yan multiple times while he still could and got defeated. Charmmi secretly participated in the Mecha Manufacturing Competition but lost in the fourth round. In the end, only Ning Kong’an and Jian stayed.

Time slowly slipped away as the situation in the Federation shifted to the worse. However, the mecha competition still went on unimpeded.

Qiao Zhiya passed the next few rounds of competitions. He skillfully crafted special-grade parts of intermediate-level and advanced-level. He also modified a lot of them. This refreshed the audience’s perception of his strength.

From autumn to winter, the Star Network Mecha Manufacturing Tournament ushered in the most important round of competition before the final – engine production.

At the end of the countdown, a large pile of materials and spare parts appeared on the console. Qiao Zhiya took a look at the betting odds – it had widened to his favor as the competition went on. He gave the audience a customary bow.

The audience had watched him since the beginning. They had long thought of him as their own child. They understood that engine production was not easy, so they did not want him to be pressured. Before he muted the audience, they tried to encourage him, letting him know that he just needed to do his best, not to be stressed, and it’s not shameful to fail after getting this high in the competition.

Qiao Zhiya wasn’t worried. He smiled at them, then looked at Chu Rong sitting in the front row, and for the first time said something other than thanks.

“I’ll be promoted,” he said confidently, pointing to the odds above his head, narrowing his eyes and smiling brightly, “I have to help Chu Rong to make money.”

After waving, he turned and muted the audience by putting up a soundproof barrier.

The audience froze as they looked at the odds. Complicated feelings washed over their minds, but they ended up cheering loudly and encouraged Qiao Zhiya.

Those accusations of the Marshal’s spending so much money because he wanted to manipulate the competition officials disappeared. At this point, it’s clear Chu Rong’s betting wasn’t for that, and instead just a sign to show his support towards his fiance. Plus, any sign of cheating would be too conspicuous.

It really is true love.

The audience was sighing, and suddenly hoped that Qiao Zhiya could win all the time, until he could make a complete mecha that the system would judge as the winning one.

Qiao Zhiya’s skillful operations were still a delight to watch. Luo Li leaned on the chair and couldn’t help shaking his legs. He asked, “Master, why haven’t you formally accepted him as my junior brother?”

Master Shang’s face was dark, and he stared at him from the side, trying to sound calm as he explained the situation.

Luo Li gleefully wheezed. It’s clear that his master’s attempt at digging Qiao Zhiya was a failure. There’s no way that old man Ren wouldn’t be possessive towards his precious apprentice.

The engine that Qiao Zhiya wanted to make was also larger than usual. Because engines were delicate and intricate, “feeding” wasn’t the appropriate way to make it bulkier. Instead, he designed one from scratch, and therefore, the materials provided from the competition wasn’t enough.

At first, the audience saw him working on the materials and thought that he was trying to “feed” as usual, as he was calm as always. Looking at the results, they began to mumble – ‘Why does Qiao Zhiya keep making small parts? There shouldn’t be a point in making those, right?’

Half an hour passed and Qiao Zhiya was making small parts. Another half an hour passed, and he still did the same. Of course, this only made the audience even more worried.

Because the engine was more complicated, the time of this round was slightly extended – 3 hours in total. However, Qiao Zhiya has used half of that only to make small parts. In theory, even if he started to install the engine now, he shouldn’t have enough time.

The audience began to whisper to one another, making a commotion. They started to get pessimistic:

‘Qiao Zhiya’s first sentence was actually a joke, right? He knew he was going to be eliminated this time, so he started violently giving up?’
