Qiao Zhiya put down his hammer and took a look. There was only an hour and a half left. He was busy refining the Whiskers Grass essence before throwing all the parts into it.

After doing this, he took out a forged table prepared in advance, and put down his small hammer. Instead, he took out a big hammer from the toolbox provided to the players by the competition officials, and used that to modify his small hammer.

The engine needed to be perfect. The small hammer he used was good enough to modify the previous parts, but he never used it to install the said parts. He prepared a set of self-made tools for this engine production. He originally had a specialized hammer, which was the same as this small hammer, but bringing that was against the rules. So he could only modify a small hammer during the competition.

Time was running out, so he needed to hurry up.

The audience saw that he finally stopped making parts, and thought he finally realized that there was not enough time to start the formal assembly. However, they didn’t expect him to bring out an antique-looking forging table… and used that to modify his small hammer.

This move of giving up was a bit too pathetic. He even messed up his own tools!

Despite the incoming deadline, Qiao Zhiya was still “fooling around”, and the audience started to get frustrated. Some of the viewers who couldn’t stand watching even leave the audience seat with a heavy heart. The rest of the audience had no expectation of him getting promoted… but they never thought that Qiao Zhiya would be eliminated like this! He had been doing useless things instead of the engine production, his loss was too humiliating!

Master Shang frowned, both in confusion and worry.

“Ah, junior brother, why aren’t you in a hurry to assemble the engine? What is the use of the hammer? During the assembly, the hammer is not a very useful tool, there’s better tools to do that more efficiently.” Luo Li put away his optimism and frowned.

Master Shang shook his head, and couldn’t figure out what this unexpectedly young apprentice was planning this time. “Take a closer look, I don’t think he will actually sabotage his own work.”

Time passed minute by excruciating minute. As the countdown ticked down to the last hour, Qiao Zhiya finally ended the transformation of the small hammer, looking up at the time. He then took out a large box, put it in alongside the soaked parts.

The audience guessed helplessly and speechlessly. ‘What is this? What’s in the box? A good engine?’

‘Haha, this joke is not funny at all.’

Qiao Zhiya poured out all the parts and arranged them in the order of installation, which took him ten minutes.

There are only fifty minutes left in the game, and the audience began a chat amongst themselves:

“I no longer have any expectations.”

“Yeah, there’s no need for him to actually compete. Let’s just accompany him to the end.”

In the corner of the auditorium, Yuan Xiu was eager to hold Chu Yan’s arm with a grim expression. “I used up all my pocket money to bet on Qiao’s promotion. If he loses…”

Chu Yan hurriedly pulled off Yuan Xiu’s iron claw-like grip, then rubbed his sore arms. He tried to calm his best friend down. “You have to believe in Qiao’s strength. There’s still about an hour left, don’t worry.”

“It’s fifty minutes left! Forty-nine now!! If you lose everything, your Erge will reimburse you, so of course you wouldn’t worry!” Yuan Xiu couldn’t calm down at all, his temper almost burst out.

Chu Yan moved quietly to the side, but in fact he was a little anxious – he also used up all his coffers to bet on Qiao Zhiya’s promotion.

On the other side, Qiu Guangji slumped in the audience seat, and his soul has returned to the heavens above. This year’s betting scene had been crazy, and if he lost it all now… he’s not sure if he would still be alive.

After the parts were lined up, Qiao Zhiya opened a large box next to it, exposing a strange set of tools inside.

The little curiosity that the audience had just raised was immediately extinguished – it’s clear Qiao Zhiya would continue to play around. He even had his toys ready.

Then the next second, their slumped bodies sat straight. He seemed to be… moving strangely?

In front of the workbench, Qiao Zhiya condensed his magic power, then simulated it into a spiritual power. He divided it into several strands and used them to control several tools at the same time. After doing this, he continued to do the same with his other hand.

After that, a miraculous showing began.

The parts and tools connected by a thin thread of spiritual power cross back and forth in the air. The dazzling parts were installed one by one without any pause. A white light flashes between each installation of the parts, signaling a perfect fusion occurring using spiritual power.

Piece by piece, layer after layer, the arranged parts on the workbench disappeared at a terrible speed, and the engine dragged by the spiritual force thread in the air slowly formed, and became bigger and bigger, showing the correct shape of an engine.

What the fuck!

The audience was shocked, glanced at the installation scene in front of their face. Seeing the myriad threads of dancing spiritual power, they almost couldn’t believe their eyes.

What in the ever loving fuck is this!! What kind of tawdry operation is this!!

Except for asking “what”, they don’t know what to say!

It was already considered great if someone could maintain the stability of their spiritual power output. But this boy – an Exoplanet Native who only recently awakened his power – could  actually divide his spiritual power and control one, two, three, four… innumerable! Amount! Of them! Perfectly! At the same time!!

Oh my God, how did this Native boy do it! Why isn’t his brain melting! An engine is so complicated, that every known mecha maker is always very careful and slow when assembling it! But he actually used this production method to treat it casually!

The audience’s jaw dropped, brain exploding, and started to scream: “Jiayou!”

It started a chain reaction, and it led to numerous people screaming the same, as if they were finally awake from a crazy dream.

“Jiayou! Jiayou! If it can be assembled successfully, if he can be promoted… Oh my god, this is a miracle!”

Many of them suspected that Qiao Zhiya threw his game before, and they felt like they were now enlightened. This Native boy’s declaration previously was not a joke! He really wanted to do his best and get promoted! He was also confident he could do it with his strength!

Master Shang also briefly froze. He looked at the spiritual powers controlled by Qiao Zhiya, raised his hand and touched the fake beard on his face, sighing wistfully. “I’m old.”

This time Luo Li was too baffled to talk back to his master.

His level of spiritual power is S, and he mastered the fine control of spiritual power. He perfectly knows how difficult the thing Qiao Zhiya is doing now. He probably knows it better than most people.

‘This cheap master is really…’ He couldn’t even sigh, just watched intently, hoping to learn something from this extreme installation that his junior brother is doing.

Yuan Xiu in the corner had gone mad, and Chu Yan began to wonder.

Qiu Guangji, on the other side, sat up in shock and died. The burnt-up candle of hope in his heart reignited.

Qiao Zhiya was fully concentrating on his operation, completely ignoring the rest of the world. From time to time, he hit the modified parts with his transformed-hammer to make them more closely connected.

Before coming to the competition, he experimented with the process of making the engine in reality. At that time, it took two and a half hours — with the entire installation process taking him half an hour to forty minutes.

But at that time, he subconsciously used magic power during the installation, and saved time by not trying to simulate them into spiritual power.

Today, he made it with fifty minutes left. Can he finish it before the end of the game? He is actually a little bit tired, but it’s very taboo to get distracted while doing a spiritual power installation. Despite his fatigue, he held on.

The ticking-down timer suddenly felt suffocating. The audience’s eyes kept darting between Qiao Zhiya and the countdown board. Their nerves were tense, fried to the edges.

Forty minutes, thirty minutes, twenty minutes… The engine in front of Qiao Zhiya was already very large, and he had to use a lifting platform to raise himself up a bit to make it easier to observe the installation process.

It only became even more nail-biting as the timer continued to run out. Their eyes were staring closely at the still-dancing gallops in front of Qiao Zhiya, their bodies subconsciously leaning forward.

In the last ten minutes, there were not many spare parts left on the workbench, and the engine was basically formed. Obviously, this engine was also a lot larger than the standard-issue ones.

Qiao Zhiya frowned, slowing down a bit. This kind of fine operation consumed a lot of power. He had already used a bit of his magic power when processing the materials, and consumed part of it when he simulated the magic into spiritual power. So it’s only reasonable that his magic storage was about to reach rock-bottom. Plus, this is VR, and he can’t absorb magic stones to replenish it – those virtual magic stones are just normal jades.

Chu Rong, who had been watching calmly, noticed this subtle change in the youth’s expression. He himself frowned.  He took a look at the spiritual force in front of him, guessing that Qiao Zhiya might not have enough strength. Subconsciously, he leaned forward.

In the last five minutes, with three components left uninstalled, all the spiritual thread in Qiao Zhiya’s hand suddenly broke. The engine fell straight towards the console. The audience screamed.

At a critical moment, Qiao Zhiya stepped forward and gently placed the engine on the console. He then massaged his throbbing forehead, picked up the tools that had fallen on the console, and started manual installation.

“He can keep it up for so long, truly astounding.” Luo Li sighed, admiration tinkling inside his eyes.

If it was him, he definitely couldn’t hold on that long.

“There are four minutes left, and he still has three parts left. In total, there should be seven circuit connection points to be installed too. Time is very tight.” Master Shang’s tension was also shown clearly on his face.

One part done, two parts done… The audience watched as Qiao Zhiya trudged on and their shouts got louder every time. Finally, the whole amphitheater resounded in unison to cheer Qiao Zhiya.

A sudden rush of chicken blood injected into the audience, and they all stared in excitement at Qiao Zhiya’s action. They also started to count down, hoping for a miracle to occur.

When the countdown reached the last ten seconds, Qiao Zhiya’s movement became faster. At the last few seconds, he struck his hammer down one final time, then he looked up at the countdown board.

The number has jumped to “2”. At the next second, his evaluation jumped out:

[Round complete. Engine value: special-grade. Contestant has successfully advanced to the next round.]

The moment the prompt pops up, the countdown goes to zero and the round ends.

Qiao Zhiya was so relieved that he laughed.

The audience digested in silence for a few seconds, then ruptured into an ear-piercing excited scream, the loudest sound yet. Countless people stood up and threw hats and various objects at hand into the air, and some even paid to set up celebration fireworks, blooming beautifully in the virtual sky.

Ribbons and balloons floated across the sky, and various special effects that cost money were lifted up, decorating this player’s room like a festival celebration.

“Awesome!” Yuan Xiu couldn’t help but stand up, waved wildly on the stage, and shouted, “Qiao, you are the best!”

Chu Yan has begun to spend money on gifts.

In countless corners of the auditorium, the same praise was issued from different populations. Qiao Zhiya on the stage turned his head and looked at Chu Rong sitting in the front row. Seeing that he was applauding with a wide smile, Qiao Zhiya returned that gesture with an equally sunny smile. “I’m promoted!”

Chu Rong’s eyes were gentle and proud. “Yes, you are great.”

Despite being separated by a soundproof barrier, they both understood what the other meant. Qiao Zhiya immediately laughed even more brightly. He turned off the muting option and looked at the festive amphitheater. He raised his voice and said, “Thank you!”

The scream broke through the roof again, and Qiao Zhiya waved at them before logging off.

Chu Rong, sitting in the front row, suddenly frowned and followed suit.
