The noon banquet was only attended by friends and family, and everyone present was very supportive. Even Chu Yan and Xiang Kun, that pair of dogs and cats, behaved themselves, ensuring the harmony of this private banquet.

Every pore on Qiao Zhiya’s body radiated happiness. Although shy, he still insisted on entertaining the guests in person. His ears were constantly animatedly moving, his face was flushed, and he kept giving Chu Rong a bright show of love every so often.

Chu Rong’s usually-cold aura also dissipated. He always had a slight smile on his thin lips.

The scene where the two exchanged their rings was very eye-catching. Qiao Zhiya was in a white suit, while Chu Rong was in a black suit. This matching pair stood face-to-face, one with a flushed, shy face, and the other with the biggest smile many people ever saw on Chu Rong. They held hands together, in front of a majestic, yet quaint tree house. Snowflakes gently falling from the heavens, and now they dotted the protective barrier, giving them a serene white backdrop. It looked like an artwork.

Sitting in the front row, Chu Yan busied himself by taking many candid photos, then upload a couple of them to various social media accounts he rarely used. Helping Chu Rong to show off his affection to all citizens.

Recently, the atmosphere of the Starry Sky Forum was rather suffocating, all because of the theme voting. And that oppressiveness was washed away by this photo, the netizen finally found a sense of holiday cheer and spirit’s, instantly uplifting them. Seeing this good-looking pair looking all lovey-dovey, some of them became touched.

Many of the older generations watched Marshal Chu grow up from an upstanding young man to the Marshal he’s known today. Many netizens accompanied the Native Boy Qiao Zhiya who won the Star Network Mecha Manufacturing Competition and finally completely integrated into the Federation fully. Truly a match made in heavens, like a fairy tale come to life.

Chu Huai noticed Chu Yan’s small movements, deepening his smile. Instead of stopping him, he held Gu Yan’an hand close.

Gu Yan’an glanced at Chu Huai’s expression, then she leaned closer, radiating happiness.

Xiang Kun sat in the corner, watching the happy family. Remembering his family’s suffocating family atmosphere, a flash of envy and loss flashed in his eyes. He subconsciously raised his hand to touch the place where Chu Yan had just mercilessly beat him. As he did that, he clenched his sleeves.

‘Everyone grows up and can no longer live as carefree and wantonly as before… but why is ‘growing up’ necessary in the first place?’

In the center of the crowd, Qiao Zhiya shook his hands unhurriedly to help Chu Rong put on the ring. After that, Chu Rong held him close, pulling him into his arms.

“Take it easy, don’t cry today.” Chu Rong patted his back and whispered in his ear, “You’re happy today, aren’t you?”

Qiao Zhiya hugged him back, took a deep breath to calm his emotions, then nodded hard. A flash of heartache bloomed in his heart, but he didn’t want to show it on his face.

‘Such a happy scene, yet my parents aren’t here to accompany me…’ He was busy suppressing these emotions, holding Chu Rong more tightly, tilting his head and nuzzling against his chest. ‘It doesn’t matter, I will find a way home. I will.’

‘And when that time comes, I will take Chu Rong to give my marriage vow in front of Mom and Dad.’

After the banquet, Qiao Zhiya’s invited guests were taken to rest in the training hall arranged in advance. There, they could enjoy the entertainment provided. As for Chu Rong’s friends and relatives, Chu Huai took them to the guest house to rest.

At 6 pm, the formal engagement banquet was about to begin. Guests came in large droves, one after another. Chu Huai and Gu Yanan are greeted at the door of the Chu family banquet hall, which was decorated in advance. Chu Rong and Qiao Zhiya were currently changing their attire – for this more formal banquet, they have a different suit arranged.

“Wait a minute.” Qiao Zhiya pulled Chu Rong suddenly before he left the house. He immediately condensed his magic to draw an array on the back of his hand. Then, he kissed the center of the array as he said, “Mm, this will be fine.”

Chu Rong only felt warmth on the back of his hands, like being covered by a layer of heat pad, but it was gone before he could enjoy it. “What is this?”

“That’s the array that will introduce you to my parents.” Qiao Zhiya replied, and touched the back of his hand again, and raised his head and smiled at him. Although he knew he would probably not succeed, he explained in detail, “It has my magic on it, and through that my parents can sense you, and at night they might come running into you to talk to you about– wait, sense? “

He suddenly thought of something, and quickly let go of Chu Rong’s hand. He pulled out a pile of magic array books and mecha design drawings from his storage ring, and sat cross-legged on the ground and turned his head upside down.

Chu Rong watched and watched his little fiance who immediately changed from kissing his hand to burying his head into his books. Regardless of his attire or the occasion, he still managed to focus on his mecha work. Immediately, Chu Rong felt a bit displeased. He asked, “What are you doing?”

“Shh, don’t make a noise.”

Qiao Zhiya waved his hand timidly, picked up the book and started flipping through it. He quickly said as he sorted out his thoughts: “I just thought of something suddenly. The reason why the spiritual driving system can make the driver and the machine achieve perfect synchronization is because the spiritual power is a very efficient information transferring medium. I have been trying to find a substitute out of the human body that also can sync with both the pilot and the mecha, but it seems that my previous train of thoughts were horrendously wrong. If such a material existed in the first place, humans must’ve long found it already! So it can’t be something from humans or a material that has been cataloged. This must be something that has spiritual power, but not from humans. Using that, I can create an artificial ‘spiritual’ link between the pilot and the mecha, just like this magic array, where I use my magic to introduce you to my parents. So we can— eh?”

Suddenly the book in his hand disappeared, and he looked up.

Chu Rong looked at him with a stormy face, pointed to the door of the suite, and pointed to the ring on his hand, and asked quietly, “Bald Chicken, have you forgotten where we are and what we were going to do?”

Qiao Zhiya first wondered, then reacted violently once he realized. His ears stood stiff, looking at his own cross-legged sitting position, then his now-rumpled suit. He quickly stood up and rushed into Chu Rong’s arms, burying his head pitifully as if begging for mercy.

“Ah.”

Chu Rong didn’t buy his act. He raised his hand and held his head, and threatened to pinch his ears. He said coldly, “I’m giving you a minute to collect your books and other trinkets. Otherwise…” As he said that, he slid his hand into tracing the youth’s spine, down to his hips, where he rubbed it gently.

Qiao Zhiya’s ears and body were stiff, remembering what Chu Rong said about bunnies mating, his whole face was flushed. He broke away from hugging Chu Rong and immediately putting everything into its proper place. After that, he linked his arms with Chu Rong’s then pulled him towards the door. “Let’s go, let’s go. Dage and others are waiting for us.”

Chu Rong took a deep look at him. He felt the weight of Qiao Zhiya’s hand holding his arm, then walked forward and opened the door.

With Chu Huai here, the atmosphere in the banquet hall was pretty good. At least everyone showed a kind gesture on their faces, hiding their internal calculations and politicking in secret.

After Chu Rong showed up with Qiao Zhiya, everyone applauded and congratulated. They all gave the two of them what they should give.

Qiao Zhiya is not very used to this kind of occasion, especially when he’s the one under the spotlight. He felt that many of them put him under such intense scrutiny, making him a little uncomfortable. Fortunately, Chu Rong was always by his side, and the simulator on his ear was also releasing his spiritual power. Others did not dare to approach him easily, always greeting Chu Rong first.

In the evening at the banquet, Chu Rong avoided the ring exchange, and only took Qiao Zhiya off the scene and took him back to the suite upstairs to rest. In his eyes, the little banquet at noon was the real engagement banquet between him and Qiao Zhiya. In the evening, it was just public entertainment that had to be dealt with. There was no need for Qiao Zhiya to suffer.

This decision aligned with what Qiao Zhiya wished too. After contacting Chu Yan and the old butler to make sure that the guests he had invited were well placed, he immediately took out his magic array book that he had only flipped halfway through before, and continued to read.

Then as he flipped through it, the excitement in his eyes disappeared.

That eureka moment he had before is correct. However, there are big problems in his way.

Although there were many Perception magic arrays using third-party power as the medium, few people apply them directly to the human body. Firstly, it was because different people have different constitutions, so each array has to be customized. Secondly, not everyone can afford to draw the Perception magic array directly on the body. Many people could feel nauseous or sick when they get a new “sense” on top of what they have, especially when this new sense is artificial. And lastly, there’s always a chance of backlash due to the conflicting power of the array, the medium, and the human’s own spiritual power.
