In the laboratory, Qiao Zhiya glanced back and forth across the three beast materials. With hesitation in his move, he picked up the leftmost one.

Master Ren unexpectedly asked, “Are you sure you want to use the muscles of this Bird-tailed beast? You know, it’s not the best choice.”

“I know,” Qiao Zhiya replied, picking up the Thunder Wolf’s blood again, and continued, “No single beast material could achieve the result I wanted. So I wonder if I can combine them.”

Master Ren glanced at the two materials he picked up, analyzed the characteristics of each of the two materials, then nodded once he realized what Qiao Zhiya had seen. He could not help showing a smile, saying, “You are still very creative, I can’t think of that.”

Qiao Zhiya showed an embarrassed smile and said, “No, the existing mecha manufacturing system rarely uses animal materials. It’s natural for you to not think of it.”

“Don’t comfort me, I know my limits.” Master Ren waved his hands and urged him, “Come on, I can’t wait to see the effect.”

After studying for so many years, now he finally has a clue how to progress his experiment, of course he can’t pretend to be calm.

Qiao Zhiya was also looking forward to seeing the finished product, so he nodded and went to his laboratory with two materials in hand.

The conventional mecha manufacturing system generally used mineral materials, and animal materials were rarely used. Even if they were used, it would be the animal’s bone, feathers, or claws. Materials like muscles have never been used. Blood or toxins were more typical of the pharmaceutical.

The scope of application was also very narrow, mostly on protective covers and weapons.

Qiao Zhiya recalled that most existing textbooks did not even deal with a detailed classification description of the beast materials. They paid no attention to this kind of material. With a frown, he simply abandoned the rough and general beast materials processing method used in the Federation. He used his magic instead.

He first took out the muscles of the Bird-tailed beast, and then he used his magic to poke it. Soon, a sense of resistance came from the inside of the material – this is the energy left in the body of the alien beast, instinctively resisting the invasion of external forces. Generally, the stronger the sense of resistance, the greater the strength of the material itself.

Bone, claws, and such could be counted as “hard” materials. In contrast, “soft” materials like muscles and blood usually still have a trace of the alien beast’s original “consciousness” even after being severed from its body for quite some time.

If the beast itself is strong enough, even if it dies, its “consciousness” will be fully recorded in its blood. Then, this “consciousness” will resist and counterattack any attempt of prodding, as if it’s still alive.

This is the bloodline heritage of alien beasts, especially with strong spiritual power. It can be said that soft materials such as blood are the essence of the beast’s power. Unfortunately, the use of beast materials in this world is still in a very primitive and in primary stage, and they’re basically forgotten.

The Bird-tailed beast is just a medium-level beast. The energy contained in its body is not high. Qiao Zhiya quickly became accustomed to this sense of resistance, and then carefully spread his power little by little, acclimating the material and “training” it to not recognize his magic as a hostile force. After appeasing it, he quickly poured the Thunder Wolf’s blood into it.

At the moment the blood poured in, a very fierce “attack” swiftly rushed at him after detecting the fluctuation of his power. It’s full of murderous intentions, as if it was pouncing at the enemy in a tit-for-tat manner without letting it go. Qiao Zhiya knew that if he wanted to use this powerful beast material, he must first tame it. He must prove himself as its “superior”, scaring it into obedience.

This is the nature of the alien beasts. They obey only the strong, as the weak are all food in their eyes.

The Thunder Wolf is a high-level beast. The consciousness in the blood is very strong. Qiao Zhiya spent a lot of time taming it, and then carefully infused the blood into the severed blood veins of the Bird-tailed beast, making a brand-new material out of it.

His magic disappeared halfway, and Qiao Zhiya retracted his hand and looked at the strange red light on the console, and his ears drooped slightly – he really hated this approach of removing the left-over consciousness of the material. It felt as if he was killing the beast all over again.

But his annoyance was obviously superfluous, because the alien beast that provided the material has already died.

–However, this one had died long ago. What about others that he will need?

If this manual-piloting system made of beast materials is really successfully developed, then in order to promote this system and mass produce it, humans will definitely start collecting animal materials on a large scale. Then, what will happen to the alien beast? How can humans, who have seen how great this material is, ever let it go? Will they overexploit them until they hunt it down to extinction?

Nature is cruel, after all, it runs on the rule of the jungle – survival of the fittest1btw, “survival of the fittest” does not mean “survival of the strongest”. “Fit” here refers to how it can fit into its current environmental niche. Example: lions are very strong, but they won’t survive in the arctic because they don’t fit in that niche.. But if this foreseeable future is caused by him, he will never be able to forgive himself.

Both dwarves and elves are races that love nature. A beast, no matter how scary it is, is a child of nature. He can hunt them for his survival, but he can’t just kill them just to fulfill someone’s wish, even if that person is Chu Rong.

The excitement of finding a breakthrough disappeared a little. He touched the red muscles on the console. Imagining the death of this alien beast, he became downtrodden.

He really, really wanted to help Chu Rong to complete it. Chu Rong’s damaged spiritual power had gone for a decade, so he had mastered using manually-piloted mecha. But now, Chu Rong has recovered, and this research may be the cause of the slaughter of many lives. So…  what is the significance of his research on this? Is it just to fulfill the promise in his heart?

After being confused for a while, he finally thought of something—

Since he made this because of a promise, can’t he just make a manually-piloted mecha only for Chu Rong? After that, he’ll persuade Chu Rong to not mass produce this, making this mecha purely a secret between them?

After all, a manual-piloted mecha system seemed to have become less necessary.

His eyes lit up a little, as he consciously found a way to not harm those alien beasts. He lowered his head and looked at the red muscles on the table. He will study this system first. When the research is done, he will go to Chu Rong and talk about it. Chu Rong is a good person, he will understand his thoughts and agree to his request.

A week passed in a hurry. Finally, the voting on the festival theme came to fruition. Eventually, the Ning family’s proposal overwhelmed the Xiang family’s with a small advantage of around a dozen-or so votes.

Immediately, the Four Great Families and the Presidential Palace had a discussion with the citizens about what sort of activities they wanted for this year. Everyone decided to hold a medicinal plant exhibition to allow the people to spend this year’s festivities surrounded by the calming aromas of medicinal flowers.

The greenhouse just built by the Chu family just came in handy. Batches of medicinal plants were transported over, filling all corners of the Chu family house.

After Qiao Zhiya finished his research and came out of the laboratory, he was immediately shocked by the sight of plants everywhere in the house. Seeing that Chu Yan came in with a pot of familiar plants, he hurried over to ask what was going on.

Chu Yan put the flower pot on the coffee table, stepped back and slumped on the sofa listlessly. He looked annoyed and tired. “You finally came out of your cave. Nothing happened, don’t worry. Everyone is just preparing for the festival. We need to move that pile of pots outside to the Chu family’s exhibition area in the Star Celebration Square for tomorrow.”

Qiao Zhiya, who had been studying the manual driving system for a long time, really didn’t know about the activities. Seeing Chu Yan’s condition, he took out a potion and handed it to him, trying to help him regain his energy.

Chu Yan took the potion but did not drink it. It seemed like something had suddenly occurred to him. He patted his forehead and said, “Yes, I almost forgot. Zhuang-jie called you over and said that I would talk to you about the Stone Grass potion.”

Stone Grass?

Qiao Zhiya looked down at the pot of Stone Grass that was moved in by Chu Yan on the coffee table. He was confused – why was he suddenly talking about this?

Soon, without waiting for him to go to Zhuang Yu, she learned that Qiao Zhiya had come out of his seclusion and immediately ran to him. She gave him two documents in a hurry, saying “Hurry up, sign here. These days you were sequestered in your lab, and the Marshal forbid me from bothering you. The submission deadline is almost expiring, I’m almost dying from worry.”

Qiao Zhiya was too busy pouring her a glass of water to apologize. He then flipped through the documents in his hand and quickly scanned it. Seeing that it was a pharmaceutical use authorization and purchase contract of the Stone Grass potion, he asked in confusion, “Zhuang Yu-jie, I said that you can use his potion as you wished. No need to pay for it.”

“It’s not me who buys it, it’s the Chu family.” Zhuang Yu took a sip and calmed herself down, then proceed to explain it in detail. breath and eased his breath, explaining in detail: “It was all because of the Ning family. The pharmaceutical industry is already full of chaos, and yet they are still stirring things up. Sir wants to clear up the currently messy pharma industry, so he decided to offer the Stone Grass potion for free during this exhibition, which means he’ll publicly introduce it. Then after the festival, he wanted to sell it at a low price, impacting the medicine market so the Ning family’s inflated prices would settle down.”

Qiao Zhiya heard this and understood why Chu Rong was so busy nowadays. He immediately signed the legal document, saying, “Honestly, there’s no need for you to buy it. The production method and formulation is all developed by you, Zhuang Yu-jie. I’m not qualified to collect the money.”

Zhuang Yu raised an eyebrow and pushed the contract back, saying, “This is what Sir wants. My formulation is based on your original potion, plus Marshal Chu has already paid me the research fee, so the patent is yours. If you have a differing opinion, please take it to him.”

Qiao Zhiya froze and asked, “Research fees?”

Zhuang Yu saw this reaction and knew that Chu Rong must not have told him about it. She couldn’t help showing a meaningful smile, and replied with a teasing tone, “Yeah, the research fee. Since the beginning, Sir has ‘paid’ me to research the manufacturing process and optimization of the Stone Grass potion, so the medicine itself is yours. I’m just a R&D member who was hired. Sir has been thinking about you since then. He doesn’t want you to eat a loss.”

This teasing made Qiao Zhiya flustered. He remembered that last night Chu Rong was so angry that he was still thinking about improving the system before going to bed. With a reddened cheek, he pushed the contract back at Zhuang Yu and whispered, “Wait a moment.” Then he got up and walked to the corner to call Chu Rong.

Ten minutes later, he walked back with an even redder face. His fluttering ears were crystal clear to Zhuang Yu. “Take the formulation and use it as you wish. I have donated the rights to use and produce to the Chu family. I’ll give you the updated contract later.”

“I knew it would be like this. You and the Marshal has been one family in the end. Aiyah, you can just blow something on his pillowside to get things done2she speaks as if QZY is a concubine/Empress who influence CR from the bed (after sex) lol.”

Zhuang Yu deliberately raised her voice to “complain” and saw that Qiao Zhiya was so flustered that he wanted to dig a hole to the center of the earth and jumped into it. She felt refreshed despite still being burdened by this Ning family matter. Finally, she returned to the infirmary with a spring on her steps, documents in hand.
