In the evening, Chu Rong came back very late. Qiao Zhiya didn’t go to the laboratory late this night, but obediently waited for him in their bedroom.

As soon as the door was pushed open, Qiao Zhiya immediately looked up and saw Chu Rong appeared at the door, his eyes lit up, and he threw away the electronic notebook in his hand. He hung onto Chu Rong, hands clawing at the taller man’s neck and back. He then asked, “Are you tired? Do you eat a delicious dinner?”

Chu Rong was thrown back by his sudden jump, after he stabilized himself, he hugged the youth back. The cold expression on his face disappeared instantly. He raised his hands and rubbed the soft hair on the back of his head, and said, “I’m not tired. I have eaten. Why aren’t you in the lab, waiting for me? “

When Qiao Zhiya heard his answers, it became apparent to him that he had been too embroiled in his research these days. He nodded his head first, then tip-toed to kiss him. “Sorry, I won’t do this in the future.”

Chu Rong, who had not blamed him, listened to his apology with an expression that became even more gentle, lowered his head to kiss him back and said, “It’s okay, you haven’t been in the lab for a month, and you’re already very well behaved like this.”

Qiao Zhiya tilted his head again and pawed at him. Thinking of the purpose of waiting for him today, he squirreled out of his arms, then took Chu Rong’s hand. He tugged it as he walked to the table, excitedly saying, “I’ll show you something. “

Chu Rong liked the way Qiao Zhiya presented his treasure, so he sat obediently at the table and showed his anticipation towards his “surprise”.

Looking at him like this, Qiao Zhiya suddenly felt a little nervous, and carefully released a tall black mecha model from the storage ring after releasing his hand.

The model looks very familiar, almost the same as the mecha made by Qiao Zhiya on the VR world.

Chu Rong’s eyes immediately darted over the mecha. He asked, “What did you do?”

Qiao Zhiya nodded, without speaking, took out a water magic stone with a magic circle and three connecting wires on it, then opened a shell at the center of the back of the mecha model, and connected one of the wiring into the mecha’s interface. The other two wiring was connected to the magic stone itself and the magic circle circuitry.

Chu Rong realized what he was going to do, and subconsciously sat upright.

After finishing all the connections, Qiao Zhiya took out two strangely-textured finger-glove-like things and connected the connection line with each other. He gestured at Chu Rong to come over.

Chu Rong glanced at him and stretched out his hand with great confidence.

Qiao Zhiya fitted the finger-glove on Chu Rong’s fingers. After making sure it fitted snugly and the wiring were all correct, he carefully jump-started the magic array by giving it his magic power.

Chu Rong only felt that there was a wash of warmth followed by several jolts of coldness coming from the finger-gloves. After that, it cycled back to warmth. He felt something akin to “excitement” from the gloves.

“How is it feeling?” Qiao Zhiya looked at him nervously.

It was fitted very snugly to his skin, almost like a second layer of skin. After he adapted to it, it wasn’t uncomfortable. In fact, it felt a bit cozy, thanks to the human-like temperature from it.

Chu Rong tried to move his fingers. As soon as he was ready to move it, he saw that the mecha on the table also moved, so his eyes fixed on it immediately — just as he moved his fingers, the same finger of the mecha model also moved. Even the precise arc and angle of the movement was exactly the same.

In order to determine it, he moved his finger into a different direction, and the mecha model followed it again. He raised his arm, and the mecha model did the same. However, the movement of the mecha model looked a bit bizarre, maybe because of the difference in anatomy between him and the model.

Perfect synchronization. Although the actions weren’t exactly the same, there was no time-lag between input and output.

Chu Rong turned to look at Qiao Zhiya, his lips were tight, his eyes were deep, and there was some kind of intense emotion flowing inside.

“As you see, I found a way to achieve perfect synchronization, although only in a small area.”

Qiao Zhiya was embarrassed by his intense staring, so he bowed his head to avoid it. He helped Chu Rong to removed the finger-gloves and the connecting wires, then explained his findings in details:

“If this system is really successful, then the next thing we need to do is to modify the cockpit. This synchronization method completely gives up keyboard operation. But as the pilot must be standing in battle, the existing cockpit is too narrow. Of course, if you want to keep the keyboard operation, you can – after all, the pilot’s physical strength will be consumed quickly, so we must build a fail-safe method by making sure they can still drive the mecha via keyboard operation if they’re too tired. Also, this system will use water-based magic stones, which is sapphire, because it has the lowest active strength and it is also the calmest when it comes to foreign spiritual power. It will not lash back at anything. Because of that, we need to make sure there’s an additional device to replace the sapphire if it depletes during battle. This system must have several fail-safe, as it is very integral to the whole system. We need to carefully place it where it can’t be damaged during battle, but it’s easy enough to replace or fix it if nee— ah!”

Qiao Zhiya’s eyes widened, startled by Chu Rong’s sudden kiss.

Chu Rong held his back and kissed him deeply. After pressing his lips, he pried open the youth’s mouth, plundering his tongue and teeth. He then raised his hand to cover his eyes, prolonging the fierce kiss.

Perceiving his excitement, Qiao Zhiya slowly closed his widened eyes, relaxed and giving himself to Chu Rong. He responded to the kiss, feeling some satisfaction in his heart. He was very happy that he has researched something that can get such a passionate response from someone he loves.

“Thank you.”

At the end of the kiss, Chu Rong pressed him into his arms. His voice was a bit rumbly and wavered. He perched his chin on top of the youth’s head, his gaze fell on the mecha model sat on the table. He whispered and repeated: “Thank you, Qiao.”

Qiao Zhiya arched in his arms, raised his hand and touched his back, soothing Chu Rong’s visible emotional outburst.

The two hugged for a while, Chu Rong calmed down and did not let go of Qiao Zhiya. He let him sit on top of his lap, as he reached out and picked the mecha model on the table. “You can change the cockpit. Even if you have to remodel the mecha completely, you can do it. No need to worry about failure. I’ll ask Master Ren’s team to cooperate fully with you. “

Qiao Zhiya heard Chu Rong’s promise and looked up at him. He reorganized his previous thoughts, sorting out his words before saying, “Chu Rong, this system is made from the blood veins, muscles, and blood of alien beasts, combined with a magic array. You know, a magic array is something that only I can draw in the Federation, and magic is something I can only sense. Until we develop a method to use the magic circle extensively, this system is destined to be unpopular … “

“It’s fine.”

Chu Rong thought he was distressed by this. He tried to soothe Qiao Zhiya by kissing the top of his head. “We can slowly overcome this problem. I remember you said that the magic circle is essentially an energy that can communicate the power of nature. Maybe we can find a way to replace this aspect by fiddling with spiritual power. Magic circles are yours, I’ll keep it a secret forever if I have to.”

Qiao Zhiya was stunned, but he didn’t expect that he immediately thought of a solution to this problem. His mind short-circuited, but he finally remembered the point of his discontentment. “It’s not that… actually, I have been studying how to localize a magic array and such. What I really want to say is… Chu Rong, I will help you make a purely manually-piloted mecha, but… can you not mass produce it?”

Finally speaking out his requirements, he looked at Chu Rong a little nervously and watched his reaction carefully.

Ever since he knew Chu Rong, he keenly knew that the taller man had been intensely researching this matter, pouring countless time and money into it. He even cultivated a group of manual mecha pilots. It’s very clear that he wanted this kind of mecha to enter the market.

This request he made this time… is basically asking for Chu Rong to give up his decade-long “ambition”. Just now Chu Rong’s joy and excitement were obvious, and now, he suddenly became uncertain.

Looking at it from another perspective, what’s the difference between his current behavior and taking advantage of Chu Rong? He just gave Chu Rong a hope, but now he upfrontly asked him to give up his “ambition”.

But this request must be mentioned, he must be responsible for his work.

The two looked at each other, and unexpectedly, Chu Rong did not show any intense emotions about his “excessive” request. He only raised his hands and squeezed his flattened ears, and asked, “Why make this request? What are your concerns?”

Qiao Zhiya is not a willful person, and he rarely asks people to do what he wants. Today he suddenly said this, so there must be his own reasons. He believes in Qiao Zhiya, so of course he isn’t angry at him.

Qiao Zhiya was stunned, and his anxiety and tension were calmed by his gentle tolerance. He tilted his head and nuzzled into his palm, his heart suddenly feel settled. He pointed to the three connecting wires on the table, and said, “That’s my concern. Those beast-based materials I used.”

The smallest mecha was about 7-8 meters high. To set up an induction system that connected the entire body of the mecha, the number of muscles needed will be huge. He estimated that to make one mecha to this scale, at least a dozen of alien beasts must be hunted down. If he upscaled the number, even the thoughts of it sent chills down his spine. His heart tightened uncontrollably, it was as if it was he who was being coveted, hunted, skinned, and bled.

This thought had been running relentlessly inside his mind for a long time, getting worse day by day. He was beyond nervous.

“Once the manually-piloted mecha is open to the public market, we must account for the number of materials needed to upscale the production. With the current number of Blue Galaxy’s mecha pilots, some beasts will be hunted down to extinction to fulfill the market’s demand.” He said, his face tight and worried.

For example, Thunder Wolf, as a beast who lived alone, has a small number. Even if all of its population hunted down to make mecha, all of their blood could only make around 20,000 mechas. In comparison, there’s about several billions of mecha pilots and hopefuls. He dare not imagine how many high-level beasts like Thunder Wolf will be extinct in the future.

He looked up at Chu Rong and said, “The existing mecha system is already mature. Manually-piloted mecha may not be necessary, so can this never go to the public market and be mass produced? Let’s just make one for ourselves and perfect it, okay?”

After listening to his words quietly, Chu Rong raised his hand and rubbed his tensed eyebrows. He pondered for a while, then said, “Your concerns are not unfounded. I will find a way to solve this problem. What you need is alien beasts soft materials, right? The part that has high spiritual power activity? Then, as long as you find a way to artificially cultivate a similar material, this problem will be solved. And… manually-piloted mecha are necessary to be mass produced.”

Qiao Zhiya listened for a moment, then opened his eyes and asked eagerly, “Can this material be cultivated artificially? Is the technology mature?”

“Mature. Not only this kind of spiritually-active material, but even children can be cultivated. We only need a little bit of genes from both parents.” Chu Rong suddenly turned, his head bowed against his forehead, then continued in an ambiguously sensual tone, “So even if we are both “males”, a little “baby bunny” can still be born between us1just a reminder: Jian is one such child btw.”

‘Ba-baby bunny? A “baby bunny” that looks like Chu Rong???’

Qiao Zhiya couldn’t help but imagine a baby who looks like Chu Rong and calling him “Papa”. His little heart trembled, his face flushed, and he couldn’t stand this stimulus. He broke away from his arms and ran to the bathroom. “I-I will take a shower. It’s late, it’s time to sleep.”

Chu Rong’s lips upturned. He looked at his pajamas, and deliberately said, “That’s right, I want to take a shower, let’s go together.”

Qiao Zhiya had just stepped into the bathroom and shook his head. He didn’t even dare to look at him. He turned and walked towards the bed. He yawned very stiffly and said, “I suddenly remembered that I had taken a shower. Silly me. I’m sleepy. Good night.”

After speaking, he opened the quilt and hid himself on the bed, and even buried his head inside.

Chu Rong was very pleased by his cute, flustered look. He took a glance at the mecha model on the table, and then the bundle of quilt on top of the bed. He stepped forward, carried the whole quilt – of course, with Qiao Zhiya inside – regardless of the youth’s protest. He then whisked him away into the bathroom.

——This  cute fiance of his has helped him so much. He must “reward” the youth.

After a round of “comfortable” bath, Qiao Zhiya was already sleepy as he limply carried into the bed. But he managed to stay away regardless. He grabbed Chu Rong’s collar and asked, “Why is it necessary to mass produce manually-piloted mecha? Is this for all those pilots you cultivated?”

Chu Rong lay aside and flicked his hair, looked at him with half-lidded eyes, and shook his head, “No.”

“Why is that?” Qiao Zhiya asked curiously.

Chu Rong’s eyes moved away, as if recalling something, then he suddenly lay down and leaned his forehead over, touching his cheek, and said, “Qiao, I want to do this for a long time,  and as compensation for the last time I snooped through your memories without your consent, I’ve decided to open up my memories to you.”

By the time Qiao Zhiya began to hesitate, it was already too late to ask. A huge force suddenly surrounded him, his thoughts were drawn, and he was caught in a spiral of chaotic emotions uncontrollably.
