When his consciousness became clear again, Qiao Zhiya found himself standing in the courtyard of the Chu family’s house. But this courtyard was a little different from the one he usually saw every day, plus, a lot of children’s toys have been added.

“Dage! Dage! I’m going too!”

A child’s voice came from the direction of the door of the main house. He thought of moving, and he immediately moved to where he wanted.

A younger version of Chu Huai stood in the middle of the uniform wearing a typical preschool uniform. He was helplessly flailing around as he stuck himself to a younger Chu Huai’s leg. Chu Huai coaxed the child, “Xiao Yan, Gege is going to school. I’ll see you on the weekend.”

This child version of Chu Yan was very cute – full of baby fat, but he appeared even naughtier.

“No! I want to go to school too!”

Chu Yan hugged his leg tighter, opened his mouth and began to wail. He also tried to climb up Chu Huai’s body as if it was a tree, trying to clung himself to Chu Huai’s arm.

Chu Huai couldn’t help him, and he was afraid he would fall, so he had to bend over to support his back, and looked at the communicator from time to time, as if to rush to do something.

“Dage, you shouldn’t spoil him too much, he’ll get used to it.”

A cold-toned boy’s voice suddenly came from behind, and Qiao Zhiya turned to look around, then stopped in place.

A small white-haired teenager around his early teens had appeared behind him at some point. The young teenager was wearing a training outfit, his hair sticking to his forehead because of his sweat. It’s obvious that he was just finishing his training.

It was as if he had not seen Qiao Zhiya standing out in front of him. He went straight past him, walking over to Chu Huai. He mercilessly pried off Chu Yan from Chu Huai, and frowned, “Chu Yan, you have grown up. You’re not allowed to cry any more, otherwise I’ll beat you up.”

Chu Yan was obviously very afraid of him and did not dare to pretend to be pitiful. He blinked his eyes at Chu Huai, signalling for help.

Already knowing his true face, Chu Huai shook his head with a smile, crouched and patented his head. “Dage  will come back to see you next weekend and bring you a gift. Will a warship model be good? I’ll put one together for you myself.

Chu Yan’s eyes lit up immediately and said, “I want it to be like the one at home!”

“Yes.” Chu Huai agreed, pinching his face, and stood up again to look at the frowning young man. His smile deepened, and he took out a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from his forehead and said, ” Xiao Rong, you don’t have to train that hard. Your bones haven’t grown strong yet, keep your exercise at a moderate level. Do you have any gifts you want? Dage will bring it back for you next weekend.”

This teenaged Chu Rong seemed to have a worse temper compared to now. He frowned in impatience, waved his hand and said, “Why are you more nagging than Mom? Go, go, go, go, I’m not Xiao Yan, I don’t want a gift.”

“That’s okay.” Chu Huai had a “I can’t help it” expression. He gave him a handkerchief and hurried out of the door.

Qiao Zhiya looked at this teenaged Chu Rong, who was actually very gentle and careful. He held Chu Yan firmly, preventing him from squirming and running away, then wiped him with a handkerchief. Despite his stinky face, he clearly loved Chu Yan, and it showed in his movements.

Looking at this scene, Qiao Zhiya subconsciously smiled.

‘It turned out that Chu Rong was like this when he was a teen… That’s great.’

After Chu Huai left, only Chu Rong and Chu Yan were left at the entrance of the main house. Just when Qiao Zhiya thought that Chu Rong would pull Chu Yan into the house like the fierce look he showed before, Chu Rong suddenly squatted down and pinched Chu Yan’s chubby face, frowning and asking, “You want to go to school?”

Chu Yan stared at him with wide eyes. He knew he cannot behave in a spoiled manner, so he honestly nodded.

Chu Rong showed a distressed expression, and then seemed to think of something, saying, “Okay, I’ll take you to school. But you have to promise me that you can’t cry in the future. You’re a big boy, crying is shameful.”

Chu Yan, who was bearish and silly as a child, sniffed and nodded his head obediently. He had heard this sentence from his brother multiple times.

“Let’s go.” Chu Rong was satisfied and took his hand, although his expression was still stinky.

Qiao Zhiya watched Chu Rong take out a hover car and climbed up with Chu Yan, then drove directly out of Chu family’s house, but there was no one in the family who followed or stopped him. He looked in a hurry, and Qiao Zhiya wanted to follow. However, the scene immediately changed, and suddenly he stood in the middle of an early childhood center in a shopping mall.

He was a little embarrassed as he realized that he was in Chu Rong’s memory at this time – not really time-travelling. So, he looked around for Chu Rong and Chu Yan.

In front of the digital education board, Chu Rong accompanied Chu Yan to sit at the small table and watched him follow the teaching system to learn the numbers and get rewards. His fingers were always impatiently on his knees, and his face was still a little irritable — obviously, Ancestor Chu’s patience has been bad since childhood, but he put up with it for his little brother.

Qiao Zhiya’s anxious heart fell back, remembering that Chu Huai once said that Chu Rong was more fond of Chu Yan when he was a child, and that Chu Rong had always taken good care of him. His heart felt warm and he could not help but step forward and sit with Chu Rong at the small table.

The content was a typical preschool education, supplemented by a couple of games in-between study sessions. Chu Yan was very happy. When he finished his studies and wanted to go home, he still did not want to leave, but this time he obediently did not cry, but asked Chu Rong and was rejected. After the answer, he followed Chu Rong very obediently and went out.

The two got in the car outside the mall, and Qiao Zhiya quickly followed.

“Dage is going to be admitted to the Federal Military Academy this year. He will be very busy, so you have to be well-behaved.”

Inside the car, Chu Rong held Chu Yan’s chubby hand as he educated him. He then continued, “Come over to me if you want to. The Intermediate College class is very easy, I have time for you.”

Chu Yan gave him a hesitant look, and whispered, “But Erge, you have to train. Mom said you are tired from training…”

Chu Rong paused for a moment, then his expression eased, he raised his hand and touched his head. “I’m not tired, I still have time to play with you.”

“It’s to accompany me to class.” Chu Yan corrected.

Chu Rong messed up Chu Yan’s short hair and was about to continue talking. But then, his hover car suddenly issued a harsh alarm. With a change of expression, he was busy holding Chu Yan in his arms, and Qiao Zhiya was startled, his thoughts were drawn from the warmth of the brothers.

The hover car suddenly shook after the alarm sounded, apparently being attacked from outside. Chu Rong was busy opening the multi-layered protective barrier of the car, but did not expect that the suspension car to shake again, and the barrier was directly broken, the power system was destroyed, and it went straight down.

“Damned Empire!”

He hissed, hugged the frightened Chu Yan, and opened the door of the hover car and jumped out.

At this point the hover car drove just above an ornamental lake, full of water below.

Qiao Zhiya was frightened when he saw the situation, and he jumped down to try to save them. He instinctively tried to throw Qiuqiu, but came out empty. Then he realized again that he only saw part of the memory, which happened in the past. He cannot affect anything.

After Chu Rong jumped, the hover car exploded. He hugged Chu Yan and fell freely. After leaving the enemy’s attack range, he immediately pulled out his mecha and a silver-colored net. Using the net, he could ease his falling speed. Then he entered the cockpit sturdily, and when the mecha was about to fall into the lake, he manipulated the mecha to fly out.

Behind them, a large, heavily-suspended vehicle, apparently modified, was in hot pursuit.

Qiao Zhiya found that his perspective cut into the inside of the mecha’s cockpit. Chu Rong drove the mecha with a grave situation, constantly sending a distress signal to his family. When he found there was only one vehicle chasing him, he was relieved.

But soon, his expression froze.

The mecha’s alarm sounded suddenly, while the screen in the cockpit began to flash, and the mecha’s speed became slower.

“They have a spiritual power disturbance device? Isn’t this shit illegal?!”

Chu Rong cursed, busy giving his protective helmet to Chu Yan. As his fingers quickly operated on the mecha’s console, his face paled, but thankfully, he could increase the speed of his mecha.

Qiao Zhiya, who already had a full understanding of mechas, immediately understood – because of that device, Chu Rong simply increased his spiritual power output to stabilize his connection with the mecha.

“It’s too dangerous!” He couldn’t help but scream.

In the case when someone’s spiritual power is being disturbed while they’re connected to the mecha in an high-intensity driving, it would greatly damage the pilot’s own spiritual sea. The flow is disturbed, and much spiritual power is wasted on nothing. The consequences are very serious!

Qiao Zhiya wanted to help but he could only watch. His thoughts were chaotic, the scene in front of him suddenly changed, and the mecha disappeared into an alley. Chu Rong was holding Chu Yan hidden in the corner of a building, his face was a little pale, but his expression was very grave.

There were footsteps approaching, and then a hover car with the Chu family crest came down from the sky, followed by a small convoy, so the footsteps hurried away again.

Seeing the arrival of his family, Chu Rong finally felt relieved, and actually passed out.

Qiao Zhiya’s breath was taken in a sigh of relief, and in front of him, the scene changed again.

This time, he appeared in the study of the Chu family. A more grown-up – but still a teen – Chu Rong turned anxiously, looking at something like a battle report, and said calmly, “I’m going to the frontline.”

“You’re not allowed to go anywhere, be obedient and to go to school!” Chu Huai, who had already reached adulthood, frowned and directly dismissed his words. He raised his hand and rubbed his brow, saying, “You’re not a regular soldier, what can you offer with your enlistment? Moreover, the Zerg appear completely at random, and this Capital Planet needs people to guard it.”

Chu Rong frowned and didn’t speak again.

The screen is turning faster and faster, just like the atmosphere that became more and more tense after the Zerg suddenly appeared.

This time, Chu Rong appeared even older, probably on the cusp of adulthood. The people of the Chu family went to the front line one by one. Qiao Zhiya finally saw the appearance of Mr. and Mrs. Chu. And he also saw that the main house, which once upon a time, was lively and filled with many relatives, slowly became empty.

He remembered the current situation of the Chu family’s house – all of the sub-houses, where those relatives lived, were now closed and empty. He felt sick.

Battles, injuries, Zerg that would come out of nowhere, new casualties every day, the situation kept changing from good to worse, from bad to hopeful. The Zerg were destroyed wave after wave, but could never be completely exterminated, as their ability to reproduce was just too strong. It was almost like an endless fight.

Qiao Zhiya also finally saw a real Zerg. It was huge and ugly, arrogantly killing people as it saw fit. Without mechas and all kinds of weapons, humanity – even with spiritual power – had no chance to fight against such monstrosity. They can only run away.

Obviously, it was a cruel and terrible scene, but he didn’t feel scared because the scenes of the war were all dim and fast-paced. Plus, the Zerg was blurred and incomplete, as if someone intentionally did not want him to see the complete passage of this memory.

After realizing this, he became more and more uncomfortable – Chu Rong was consciously protecting him who is now watching the memory, but who really protected Chu Rong after experiencing these?

The human-Zerg war that lasted for many years exploded to its peak after the Zerg Queen suddenly appeared. Humans desperately found that the Zerg Queen can actually pollute and interfere with spiritual power. No one can operate normally in front of it except those with S-level spiritual power and above.

Throughout the Federal Ministry of Military Affairs, the Chu family has the most S-level spiritual officers, so the Chu family stood at the forefront without hesitation.

Eighteen years old Chu Rong’s life was filled with endless war. It’s all he knew.

The Zerg Queen suddenly attacked, all the Zerg madly broke out, causing innumerable losses for the human race. The front line kept retreating. Only the Chu family stood steadfast in its defense, giving people a last bit of hope.

But soon, there was news on the front line that the Chu family was defeated – the Zerg Queen’s power was upgraded, and even the S-class spiritual power could stand a chance.

The people began to panic. The President ordered the evacuation and refused to give reinforcements to the Chu family. They only said that they would fight back after the madness of the worms had subsided. Now sending reinforcements was tantamount to sending them to die.

Chu Huai, who just entered the military internship, disobeyed the military order. After handing over Chu Yan to the old butler. He held the conviction of going as a reinforcement to the last remaining troops of the Chu family, even if it meant his death. However, Chu Huai was knocked out sneakily by Chu Rong. He then quickly drove his mecha alone towards the location of the flagship of the Chu family.

The scene suddenly blurred again, all the gruesome battle scenes all faded away, and when his vision cleared again, all that was left in front of Qiao Zhiya’s eyes was the gigantic corpse of the Zerg Queen, alongside the crooked and already disfigured black mecha in front of the corpse.

The surroundings were pitch black, but he could hear someone – or something – wailing and howling. And in front of his eyes, there was a hole with a white light around it, but the scene outside the hole was completely unrecognizable.

Qiao Zhiya suddenly realized that this was inside a black hole. Chu Rong was chased into the black hole and completely killed the Zerg Queen while the bug tried to escape by using this1this is… physically impossible, as black holes have massive gravity, so it would crush you before it could teleport you anywhere. But it has been a popular trope for many years, so….

“No, you can’t stay here.”

He was anxious as he rushed towards the mecha, trying to pull Chu Rong out of it… only to find that his hand passed directly through the shell of the mecha. Stunned, he fell to his knees in front of the mecha.

“Chu Rong, come out, you can’t die here.”

He tried in vain to move the mecha, his voice trembling in fear. Although he intellectually knew that this was just a memory, and Chu Rong will definitely escape alive in the end, he was still confused. His heart felt like it was about to stop beating.

The white hole was slowly closing in, the darkness was getting thicker and thicker. Just when he was almost in despair, the mecha in front of him suddenly moved, and he was so happy that his emotions fluctuate violently. He blinked his eyes, and the scene changed again.

Healing, funerals, and being judged as a disabled person—

The empty placation and false sympathies from the President and Four Great Families–

He was given the Marshal position, but it was like a handout because of his condition–

This ridiculous situation without spiritual power, without subordinates, only hollow honors.

Then he rebuilt the Chu family little by little, slowly gaining a foothold in the military department, facing all the doubts and ridicule of everyone. He climbed back to the top by relying only on his physical qualifications, replacing his father as the backbone of the Chu family.

All these difficult situations were skipped at a fast forward speed, as the Federation gradually restored the peace and prosperity before the war, and the Chu family once again secured the position of the top Four Great Families at a terrible speed.

This Chu Rong slowly became familiar to Qiao Zhiya, and then the scene changed into that fateful Mining Planet. Chu Rong, who was unable to use his spiritual power, sat in the mecha driven by Fan Xiangnan, and saw him who had just climbed out of the hole.

“Catch it.”

Sitting in the co-pilot seat, spoke with an inscrutable face, and the perspective shifted as if he had once again become that wretched outsider who had just escaped from the hole in the ground, staring blankly at the metal giant.

Suddenly again, his consciousness suddenly returned, and he opened his eyes.

“Woke up?”

Familiar greetings, then he was kissed in the forehead.
