The Ning family was able to secure its position as the number one pharmaceutical company in the Federation because its achievements in pharmacy are truly unparalleled. The establishment of pharmacy as a distinct discipline, along with the evolution of the profession of pharmacists, owes much to the initiatives driven by the Ning family.

It can be said that in the field of pharmacy, no one can shake the status of the Ning family.

Qiao Zhiya flipped through the long drug patent list in his hand, and suddenly understood the reason why Ning family’s apology was so readily accepted by the public. With these patents in hand, closing stores for rectification was no big deal. It’s not their real money-maker – alongside taxes, their real source of income was these drug patents.

‘How many of these patents are derived from human experiments?’ he wondered.

His grip tightened, then he shook his head and shook off these thoughts. Starting directly from the patent of the first article, he opened his photon computer to buy this drug from an official channel.

After buying, his expression was even more gloomy – sure enough, those stores that were closed were just snacks. He bought from a government-affiliated store, and the Ning family took a cut because they own the formulation of the drug. This showed that the Ning family’s bottom line wasn’t threatened in the slightest.

The Ning family really did control the drugs of the Federation…

How terrifying this was – countless people purchase pharmaceuticals from them every day, firmly believing in the efficacy of the drugs they bring home. If the Ning family wanted to cause harm, it would indeed be incredibly convenient and straightforward.

After a continuous fall of his mood, he finally cheered up a bit, and even was more vigorous than before. ‘Never mind! The drugs are all here. With so many of them, there’s no way none of them aren’t problematic. As long as there’s a problem, Chu Rong should have a way to shut down this area for rectification!’

It was imperative to change the citizen’s blind faith towards the pharmaceutical industry first.

When he thought about it, he simply ordered all the thousands of drugs listed in the patent list. He had nothing to do in the meantime, so he might as well concentrate on studying these. He vowed to shut down all the Ning family’s drug distribution channels!

Boxes of medicine were transported to Qiao Zhiya’s laboratory. The old butler reported this to Chu Rong anxiously. When Chu Rong learned that, he tapped on the table and waved his hand to indicate that he would go with him, and let Qiao Zhiya focus on what he wanted.

His idea is simple – so long Qiao Zhiya was busy with this, he wouldn’t have time to mull over his loss.

After the first batch of drugs was delivered, Qiao Zhiya took out Qiuqiu and set aside a pile of purifying potions he made. Before this, all of the drugs he got were provided by Zhuang Yu. He hasn’t really touched them. Now, he wants to make good contact with the Ning family’s drugs from the inside out.

A week passed quickly. The online public opinion rapidly shifted from outright criticism of the Ning family, to one-sided conspiracy theories, and then to intense condemnation of the Xiang family. Finally, it reached a chaotic stage where various opinions coexisted—some criticized the Ning family, some defended them, others discussed conspiracy theories, and some engaged in unrelated topics. In essence, the public’s focus had drifted far away from the original incident.

Among others, the news of Qiao Zhiya’s suspected participation in the four-year Mecha Piloting Competition took a head start, but it was a small splash compared to the giant gossip around the Ning family. The heat quickly subsided.

On the weekend, Chu Yan went home to prepare for the game, while Qiao Zhiya finally came out of his lab.

“I’m telling you, the atmosphere at school is extremely strange right now. Most people keep their distance from the Ning family, but there’s a small group acting like they’ve gone mad, defending the Ning family at every turn. They’re like those braindead fans—yes, that term fits perfectly, braindead fans! Especially among the pharmacy students, it’s like they’ve taken the wrong medication. I suspect there’s some influence from the Ning family within the pharmacy department, manipulating the students.”

Chu Yan went to gossip as soon as he saw Qiao Zhiya, and his expression was filled with bewilderment mixed with disgust. After saying that, he added, “But they can’t keep this pace for a long time. The school’s managing body is ready to rectify the atmosphere. Master Shang takes the lead. Thank God he’s on our side.”

Qiao Zhiya had dark circles under his eyes. He didn’t respond to him. He sat down next to him with a low shoulder and drooping ears, and whispered, “Chu Yan, how can I open a live broadcast account on Star Network? Also, I want to open a social media account.”

“Huh? It’s very simple, you can set it up from the system page. Wait, why do you want to do this?” Chu Yan turned his head and finally saw the dark circles under his eyes, as if he hadn’t slept for ten days. Surprised, he asked, “What’s going on with you? How long has it been since you slept? Did Erge actually allow you to stay up late?”

“I didn’t stay up late.” Qiao Zhiya shook his head, not dwelling on that topic. He lowered his head, took out an electronic notebook from his storage ring, and said, “I want to open a live broadcast to discuss this. In the government’s pharmaceutical area, there are a total of 238 problematic drugs. There are 52 drugs with actual effects that don’t match the label, 178 that mislead the public via marketing, 7 with unwritten severe side effects, and 2 with special effects that are not suitable for general use… These problematic drugs are concentrated from the Ning family’s patents in recent years. In addition, the drugs the Ning family provided to the military for free during the war also have issues. This needs a separate explanation. I’m really tired; I’ll take a nap. Call me when Chu Rong finishes the meeting or the competition is about to start.”

After his explanation, he threw the electronic notebook into Chu Yan’s arms and fell asleep on the sofa.

He didn’t stay up late these days. Yesterday, Chu Rong. Fan Xiangnan, and others went to the meeting all night, so he sneaked out of his bedroom and ran to the laboratory to complete the last research on Ning family’s drugs. Technically, he didn’t stay up all night, he just woke up extra early in the morning.

After listening to his detailed explanation with a stunned expression, Chu Yan kept his head down to look at the electronic book in his hand. After a momentary lapse in thoughts, he jolted up. He didn’t care that Chu Rong was in a meeting – he rushed up there immediately.

Qiao Zhiya heard his mother’s voice again vaguely and wanted to respond, but because he was too tired, his consciousness fell into the darkness uncontrollably.

When he woke up, he found that he had returned to his room, his clothes were changed to pajamas, and a familiar person was lying beside him. The room was dark. He froze, thinking that he was late for the afternoon competition. Reflexively, he sat up in panic.

Chu Rong noticed his movement and immediately woke up from his own light sleep. He opened his eyes and took a look at the time. He also sat up, kissed the groggy youth’s forehead, then frowned. “Have lunch first. This time, I’ll let you go from pulling an all-nighter.”

After they woke up, the night mode set in the room was lifted immediately, and the sunlight poured in from the cracks between the curtains. Qiao Zhiya looked back at Chu Rong, who had also been too busy to sleep peacefully recently. He moved his lips, but no words spilled out. Instead, he hugged him.

“What’s wrong?” Chu Rong hugged him back, touched the back of his head, still with a frown on his face. He tried to push down his soft-hearted feelings, and instead gently scolded the blond youth. “I can let you act spoiled to get away from many things, but not disregard your health by staying up all night. There’s no next time.”

‘But you stayed up all night, and for so many days…’ Qiao Zhiya swallowed this sentence, tilted his head and nuzzled his neck, carefully releasing his healing magic, hoping to relieve his fatigue.

The two kept silent for a while, before washing up and eating lunch. Chu Rong did not mention anything about the Ning family, and Qiao Zhiya also did not mention it. The atmosphere was warm and cozy.

“Everything will be discussed after the afternoon competition.” Chu Rong escorted Georgia to the Star Network Cabin, bent down to kiss his forehead, and said, “Do your best in the competition. Sorry, I don’t have time to go up and watch.”

Qiao Zhiya shook his head, hugged him, and laid in the star net cabin.

Chu Yan had already logged in before him. When he saw him online, he immediately teleported to his side. He first taught him to open a social media account, and how to open a live broadcast from there. After that, they both waited together until the competition started.

When a chatterbox became unusually quiet, Qiao Zhiya immediately noticed something’s wrong. He asked, “Xiao Yan, you…”

“Shhh, no need to talk about things that may or may not be true.” Chu Yan interrupted him, raised his arm to slung it over his shoulder, and said, “I know you and Erge have been busy with important matters lately. I can’t help much, so I’ll just be more sensible. Good luck in the competition.”

Qiao Zhiya froze, his lips cocked, and nodded strongly, “Hmm! Jiayou!”

With the experience of the first round of competition, Qiao Zhiya was no longer nervous in the second round of competition. His fighting rhythm became more flexible and natural.

In this round, the players he met were stronger. He could no longer one-hit-kill them like before. There were several games that became drawn-up before he won. He even lost a couple of times.

And the reason for his loss… he completely treated mecha combat as a hand-to-hand fight, considering the mecha’s body as his own. However, since the mecha’s body was not customized according to his body proportions, the lengths of the limbs and torso were somewhat different. This caused him to fail to accurately grasp the attack angle many times when he attacked, and in the end, someone took advantage of this and counteracted his moves.

To be more specific, there is a significant difference in body proportions between adult human males and dwarf males. Even if their arms and legs have a golden ratio and are equally long when proportionally stretched, differences in shoulder width and upper body length still lead to variations in the proportions of hands and feet.

While he successfully advanced to the next round, Qiao Zhiya was unhappy, although he would not admit it.

He silently noted in his notebook: [Manually-piloted mecha has strict requirements on the body size of the mecha]

He held the space button containing Rongtian with drooping ears. After remaining silent for a period of time, he went offline.
