In the live broadcast room, viewers gradually recovered and quickly took action. Some went offline to check, others engaged in gossip, and some who remained skeptical of Qiao Zhiya’s statements went out to buy Energy Conversion Agents for testing.

In the laboratory, Qiao Zhiya threw the Energy Conversion Agent into the trash can, turned and opened the laboratory door, and unsurprisingly saw Chu Rong waiting outside.

“Did I make my statements clear?” He asked.

Chu Rong nodded, raised his hand and patted his hair, then replied, “You did. In several hours from now, the Federal citizens will know that there is a problem with this drug, and no one will use it anymore. You did well. “

“That’s good.” He tilted his head and nuzzled into Chu Rong’s palm. Then he raised his head and smiled at him.

He hoped things would flow like that. Even if this could become a scandal, he’ll accept it with open hands.

That night, large and small hospitals were flooded with panicked mecha pilots. At the same time, the forums were filled with discussions about XX3-type hormones and Energy Conversion Agent. In a short amount of time, Qiao Zhiya’s video became viral.

When the Ning family discovered something wrong the next day, the matter had been thoroughly fermented.

“Damn it!” Ning Tianya banged the armrest, anger brimming in his chest. He wished to rip apart Qiao Zhiya for what he had said. The XX3-type hormone was first discovered and applied for drugs used by the Ning family. Qiao Zhiya’s live broadcast was obviously aimed at the Ning family!

Ning Tianxing fast-forwarded all of Qiao Zhiya’s VODs, while cross-referencing the Ning family’s pharmaceutical income for related drugs. With a squint, he said, “This Qiao Zhiya is a bit interesting.”

“Dage, I–”

Ning Tianxing waved his hand, signaling him to halt his speech. He commanded, “At the moment, the citizens don’t know yet that the pharmacy zone is controlled by us and the patent is in our hands. We must first think of a way to transfer all the patents of problematic drugs to other parties. Then, we will instigate the public to do a smear campaign to tarnish Qiao Zhiya’s reputation, so nobody will trust his claim ever again.”

Ning Tianya hesitated and fell into thought. Then, he meekly said, “But Qiao Zhiya is Chu Rong’s fiance …”

“The smear campaign is done by the citizens.” Ning Tianxing raised his tea cup and said meaningfully: “The Chu family won’t have issues against the public.”

Ning Tianya froze, immediately understood what he meant, then got up to do it.

One day after public opinion fermentation, Qiao Zhiya was berated.

The pharmacy industry has been under the control of the Ning family for many years. The Ning family’s influence has long seeped into its core.

For example, make the composition of the drug more complicated so that the public couldn’t understand it. Even though everyone knew that certain compounds may cause harm to the human body, if everyone was using it, and it showed good results by making a lot of money, some people would take the lead. After that, others would follow, pretending not to know its detrimental effects. For instance, when someone deviates from the norm to reveal the truth, everyone would come out to criticize them, portraying them as spreading disinformation1spreading misinformation: unknowingly spreading wrong info; spreading disinformation: purposefully spreading wrong info to mislead the public.

Under normal circumstances, the minority couldn’t compete with the majority, newcomers couldn’t surpass authorities, so many people who revealed the truth eventually disappear without a trace, leaving behind those who are praised, mostly sycophants and scoundrels.

It’s like raising a Gu. When a jar is filled with venomous insects, the whole ecosystem becomes a toxic world. Then, should someone want to clean up the jar, there’s no need for the Gu master to take care of it themselves. Those venomous insects will jump up and attack the person attempting to clean it up.

Before, when Qiao Zhiya started his livestream, exposing some tricks of basic medicines, those in the industry making money this way were already discontented. However, considering Qiao Zhiya’s identity and that he only revealed basic things, and the leading Ning family didn’t show any reaction, the “Gu insects” kept silent.

Besides, there’s many ways to raise money even though those cheap medicines sales have declined. There’s no need to give more effort for such minuscule gain.

But now, Qiao Zhiya actually started to go after intermediate medicines, which they couldn’t bear.

Some pharmacists who discovered XX3-type hormones in the Ning family and started using it in drug-making also stepped forward. They cursed Qiao Zhiya, saying that a person without even a pharmacy qualification dared to come out and spread alarmist statements, misleading the public. They tried to whitewash XX3-type hormones, acknowledging that it indeed had the potential to cause paralysis and disability but arguing that as long as the dosage was not exceeded, using XX3-type hormones was completely legal and safe. They also claimed that one couldn’t just focus on the effects of a specific element in the drug; the entire drug had to be considered, and certain herbs could mitigate the side effects of XX3-type hormones.

After that, it seemed like they heard some rumors. A large group of pharmacy experts rushed out to criticize Qiao Zhiya’s recent livestream. Since he was an Exoplanet Native who had been in the Federation for less than two years and was still a mecha manufacturing student, he had no credentials to speak about drugs. They also accuse him of being a half-baked amateur seeking attention by talking nonsense.

After this wave of reasonable criticisms, the citizen’s focus was successfully shifted. Then, a large number of people came to nitpick Qiao Zhiya’s characters and non-related things. It eventually escalated into a personal attack.

At the same time, a plethora of “black materials” about Qiao Zhiya suddenly appeared on the Star Network. It claimed that an Exoplanet Native like him couldn’t possibly rise to the position of the Marshal’s fiancé in such a short time without having ulterior motives. His rescue by Chu Rong was not a coincidence; instead, he deliberately approached Chu Rong, even subtly hinting that he was a spy sent by the Empire. According to the rumors, he got close to Chu Rong with the intention of stirring up trouble in the Federation. The recent conflict between the Chu and Ning families was attributed to Qiao Zhiya’s behind-the-scenes manipulation, with accusations that he aimed to divide the Four Major Families and create an opportunity for the Empire to intervene.

All sorts of messy speculations were flying around, Qiao Zhiya was discredited left and right. Many undecided citizens were swayed under this intense bombardment. Then, Qiao Zhiya fans couldn’t sit still and started to tear up with the anti-fans.

And so, a war of words began. The online atmosphere became very terrible, with insults flying at every corner. On the contrary, no one paid attention to the fuse that ignited the public opinion—the Energy Conversion Agent and the XX3-type hormone.

Qiao Zhiya, who had been expected to be slandered, ignored the various accusations and tightened his face. He only paid attention to those who did find physical problems after going to the hospital for examination, or had already had problems but did not react until now. He appealed to those mecha pilots, the true victim of this wack of a drug.

Since he could only be cooped inside in this kind of environment, he developed a Physical Repair Fluid in the laboratory and gave it to the Gu family. Then, he went out to get himself a pharmacist qualification.

The pharmacist qualification examination department also belongs to the Ning family. The arrival of Qiao Zhiya was not welcomed. The staff who had received instructions from the superiors long ago wanted to find an excuse to drive him away, but they were quickly scared off by Chu Rong, who came out of nowhere.

“Why did you come alone?” Chu Rong raised his hand and touched Qiao Zhiya’s ear, all the while glaring at the staff members with his harshest glare.

Qiao Zhiya did not expect that he would follow him. After a moment of surprise, he said, “Everyone is busy, so I went here by myself. Aren’t you going to the military?”

“The meeting was canceled at the last minute, so I thought I’d accompany you.” Chu Rong explained, then turned his gaze back toward the staff, making a suggestive remark, “I heard there’s an issue with the examination system here. Well, I’ve informed the maintenance department, and they should be here shortly.”

Marshal Chu personally intervened; their system couldn’t possibly have any issues. The excuses that were about to be uttered were silenced, and the hall fell silent for a moment.

“…Marshal, you’ve bothered yourself unnecessarily. The system just had a minor issue, and it has been resolved. The exam can start anytime.” The staff, frightened, dared not look at him and nervously provided an answer. They then gestured for Qiao Zhiya to follow them to complete the exam procedures.

Qiao Zhiya wanted to keep up, but was dragged back by Chu Rong.

“I haven’t had lunch yet, accompany me for a bit.” Chu Rong replied, glancing at the staff with a mysterious look. He then coldly said, “After lunch, the maintenance department should have arrived.” After that, he left with Qiao Zhiya in tow.

The staff was so frightened by his tone that their heart stopped beating. When he left, they immediately contacted their superiors and stopped thinking about tampering with the examination system.

After a simple lunch, the overhaul of the system has been completed.

After confirming that there was no problem, Chu Rong declined the staff to arrange a separate examination room specially for Qiao Zhiya, insisting that Qiao Zhiya had no problem completing his examinations with other candidates.

Qiao Zhiya quickly completed the junior exam, leaving those in the same exam room astonished by his skillful and rapid techniques.

The staff had no choice but to reluctantly hand the junior pharmacist certificate to Qiao Zhiya. Then, they immediately prepared to escort them out when Qiao Zhiya pushed the certificate back and said, “Now that I am a junior pharmacist and have the qualification to apply for the intermediate pharmacist exam, I would like to apply for today’s intermediate pharmacist qualification exam. Please help me with the procedures.”

The staff froze, but when they saw Chu Rong’s murderous look, their heart felt like it’s about to stop beating. They then rushed out a reluctant smile, and began to help him to take the pharmacist intermediate qualification examination.

Still waiting for others to take the intermediate qualification exam before allowing Qiao Zhiya and the others to enter together, half an hour later, Qiao Zhiya obtained the certificate for the intermediate pharmacist. He immediately applied for the advanced pharmacist qualification exam.

The staff member was unable to react normally. However, they helped him to go through the examination procedure of advanced pharmacist qualification, body and mind stiff with shock and disbelief.

In the end, Qiao Zhiya left with three certificates in hand. The staff in the entire pharmacy hall were all baffled beyond words. The people who took the same exam as Qiao Zhiya were also the same. The Ning family’s people all suddenly returned to their heads and ran towards the superior office.

Everyone did not expect that Qiao Zhiya really has the strength to obtain an advanced pharmacist qualification certificate, including the Ning family.

After receiving the news, Ning Tianya was shocked, while Ning Tianxing only gave a deep frown.

“Dage, what are we going to do now?”

Ning Tianxing waved his hand and said, “Chu Rong personally accompanied him to the exam and made various arrangements. We cannot continue releasing Qiao Zhiya’s black materials. We must give up the XX3-type hormones in response to Chu Rong’s future counterattack.”

They have to give up again?

The Ning family has given up enough things during this time. If they continue to give up, will the Ning family eventually be forced to a dead end?

“Not yet.” Ning Tianxing stared at him harshly.

Ning Tianya swallowed his question and got up to leave the study.
