The pharmaceutical industry has begun a real reshuffle. As more and more shutdowns were revealed, the Ning family’s reputation has reached rock bottom. Although most of the medicines patented by the Ning family were beneficial and harmless, the citizens still spontaneously boycotted all the drugs made by the Ning family. Subsequently, many people organize various protests at the gate of the Ning family’s pharmaceutical city.

On the second day of the closure of the pharmacy sector, Qiao Zhiya posted an announcement, targeted to those who experienced physical issues thanks to the drugs. It’s best for them to go to hospital for a thorough check-up. From now on, they should not take medicines by themselves, and instead only take them under doctor’s order, barring very common ailments like colds.

Another weekend came, and Qiao Zhiya successfully advanced another round in the Mecha Piloting Competition with his trustworthy sledgehammer in hand.

Unbeknownst to him, he had already surged into the top 10,000 in the Capital Planet Competition Zone, entering the ranks of ordinary junior experts. As long as he could endure through another round of point matches, he would advance to the finals.

After the game, he got out of the star net cabin, and was immediately hugged by Chu Rong, who was outside. The taller man took him directly to a large laboratorium near the training hall.

The laboratory was clearly new. It had a complete set of mecha-making equipment and tools in it.

“This is…” His ears fluttered as he looked back at Chu Rong.

Chu Rong put him down, took out a space button and handed it to him, and said, “The materials are ready. Starting today, this belongs to you.”

After digesting those words for a moment, Qiao Zhiya’s eyes lit up, brimming with excitement. He glanced at the pile of materials inside the space button, then ran over to inspect all the instruments in the room. They are all clearly modified according to his size and habits. He looked back at Chu Rong.

Chu Rong’s lips curved up. He instructed: “However, you must eat on time and sleep on time. No all-nighters.”

Does that mean as long as he ensures these two points, he can do whatever he wants in the laboratory the rest of the time?

“Chu Rong!”

Qiao Zhiya’s ears perked up as he called him.

“What is it?” Chu Rong responded, stretching his arms towards him.

Qiao Zhiya hurled himself forward without hesitation. After the outbreak of the Ning family’s pharmacy scandal, this was the first time he felt this happy. He hugged him tight and tilted his neck excitedly. “You are so good! Thank you!”

‘No, how could someone who let their loved one be criticized for so long without being able to do anything about it be considered good?’

Chu Rong hugged back, feeling a desire to sigh bubbling up. He bowed his head and kissed the top of his head, and gently touched his spine without speaking.

Detecting that he wasn’t in the right mood, Qiao Zhiya’s excitement diminished. He worriedly looked up and asked, “What’s wrong with you?”

“It’s nothing.” Chu Rong shook his head, pressing the back of his head to prevent him from tilting it up to see the sudden vulnerability on his face. He deliberately tugged his ear and said, “Just suddenly felt like eating the food you cook.”

Qiao Zhiya shook his ears reflexively in protest of his “teasing”. He buried his face into the crook of Chu Rong’s neck, still clearly very exuberant. “Alright, I’ll cook for you tonight. What do you want? Pork chops? Soup?”

Looking back, it seems that he hasn’t cooked for Chu Rong for a long time, and hasn’t had a good meal with Chu Rong together too. Last time they ate together was… ah yeah, the day he found out that there was something wrong with the Ning family’s medicine…

Ah, right, the Ning family.

“Both.” Chu Rong kissed his ears, when he found that his raised ears collapsed a little. He frowned, loosened his grip, and rubbed his hair. “What’s wrong?”

Qiao Zhiya looked up at him, with anxiety in his eyes, and asked, “Is it really okay to stop the live broadcast? And what about the Ning family now… Mmh–.”

Chu Rong reached out and squeezed his lips, staring at him with squinted eyes.

Qiao Zhiya somehow suddenly felt guilty. His ears fluttered in disappointment. But he still took a step forward, hugging Chu Rong’s waist again.

“You’ve done everything you can, and you’ve done it well. Leave the rest to me and Dage. Focus on what you love to do, and no more wandering thoughts, can you do that?” Chu Rong spoke, leaning down to touch foreheads with him, his hand still pinching his mouth.

Qiao Zhiya nodded quickly, knowing that Chu Rong said this out of worry and love for him.

Chu Rong was satisfied, gently moved his hand, freeing his lips, then touched his own. He snorted softly.

Qiao Zhiya’s gaze followed his lips. He remembered that the two of them hadn’t played this “kiss it when you touch the lips” game for a long time. His face blushed slightly, obediently letting go of thoughts about the Ning family. His ears curled in shyness, he closed his eyes, tilted his head, and leaned in.

Chu Rong’s lips hooked in satisfaction. He hugged the youth close, then began to respond in earnest.

A few days later, the pharmaceutical sector suddenly posted a list, listing all the problematic drugs sold there. The names of these drugs were detailed along with their respective harms and the names of the patent holders. The Ning family… was almost in all those lists.

The turmoil in the pharmaceutical industry continues. The Ning family was dying, while the Chu family continued their suppression. Qiao Zhiya, with Chu Rong’s intentional connivance, avoided these disturbances and happily continued his mecha manufacturing fun.

After three days of processing all the materials, Qiao Zhiya squatted in the laboratory and officially started making Rongtian.

Unlike the order in the Star Network Mecha Manufacturing Competition, where they started building mechas from basic components, Rongtian began to be built from its skeletal frame. Because the manual-piloting system required perfect synchronization, Qiao Zhiya decided to start from here, meticulously layering the alien beast veins onto the mecha, ensuring that the first manually-piloted mecha would never encounter synchronization issues.

A few days passed in a hurry, the weekend came, and the final round of the Mecha Piloting Competition’s preliminary round was about to begin.

Chu Yan rushed to the large laboratory to find Qiao Zhiya, ready to share with him the experience of the game. As soon as he entered the door, he was taken aback by a “human skeleton” standing in the middle, dozens of meters high.

“Wh-what is this?” He covered his chest, feeling that the jumpscares he experienced in his own home were getting more extreme as of lately.

Qiao Zhiya heard this exclamation just as he was probing the skeletal frame’s knee joints. When he saw Chu Yan coming, he waved at him with a smile and said, “Xiao Yan, you came at just the right time. I helped you design several mecha firearms. Come pick them.”

Mecha firearms?

Chu Yan’s eyes narrowed and he immediately threw the “giant human skeleton” terror behind his head and ran over happily.

As the final preliminary round of the Mecha Piloting Competition approached, his mecha still lacked a proper ranged weapon, and he was getting anxious. To his surprise, Qiao Zhiya had already thought about this for him.

The firearms Qiao Zhiya designed for Chu Yan were also rather simple and neat. In order to match Chu Yan’s Qiao Zhiya’s speedster fighting style, he ensured that all the weapons he designed were light, small, and convenient to carry.

Chu Yan flipped through the design drawings, finding each one appealing and struggling to make a decision. In the midst of his hesitation, his fingers accidentally pulled out a few pages, and then he froze.

After skimming through a few pages of drafts that he couldn’t understand, a design for a “firearm” clearly modified from a bow and arrow caught his eye.

The design was a work in progress, outlining the general shape of the weapon and providing some disassembly schematics. However, it was evident that the creator of this bow and arrow had put a lot of thought and care into the design. Even in the draft, intricate patterns and details adorned the weapon.

“Qiao.” He poked at Qiao Zhiya, who was rummaging through materials behind him.

Qiao Zhiya glanced back at him, then looked at the design in his hand. His face flushed, he reached out and snatched the electronic book, not daring to look at Chu Yan in the eyes.

There was something wrong with this expression.

“Qiao, is this the mecha weapon you designed for yourself?” Chu Yan moved forward in a hurry, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with his good friend. He rubbed his chin, and asked, “Did you design this as a preparation for your match?”

His careful thoughts were pried open. Qiao Zhiya scratched his electronic book immediately. With no more concealment, he looked at him and asked, “Is it a bit overestimating myself doing this?”

Obviously, he was a rookie who has not even driven a mecha in reality. There was also the final and cruelest round in the preliminary round, but he was thinking about designing a set of mecha weapons to participate in the finals.

Actually, he was already quite satisfied to have come this far. Rongtian had already been debugged after fighting many rounds during the competition. Even if he couldn’t make it through the final round of the preliminaries, it wouldn’t matter much. But… well, dwarves, apart from craftsmanship, also enjoy the thrill of battle. If he really made it to the finals… He lowered his head to look at the semi-finished design in his hand, his face turning even redder, but his ears perking up energetically.

Seeing his anticipation for the finals, Chu Yan gave a sly laugh, then patted his shoulder firmly and intentionally raised his voice, saying, “How could it be considered overestimating yourself? You were personally taught by Erge. Entering the finals is just normal, right! Come on, be more confident. I think this bow and arrow suits you well! By the way, for the finals, you’ll need your own mecha. Today is the last round of the preliminaries. If you pass, how do you plan to handle the mecha issue? Buy one or ask Master Ren?”

Qiao Zhiya silently turned the electronic book one more page, revealing the design of a small green mecha.

Chu Yan fell quiet and stared at his face.

Qiao Zhiya became even more embarrassed. He bowed his head down, saying, “I think this small mecha is more suitable for me. Rongtian is too tall, I can not fully exert its strength… Do you think this mecha looks good? “He raised his eyes and looked at him with bright eyes, full of expectation.

“…It looks very good!” Chu Yan avoided his eyes and dropped his gaze on the mecha design, which was obviously designed according to Qiao Zhiya’s body shape. The corner of mouth curved up, he didn’t have the heart to say what was against him. Instead, he boasted even louder. “It looks especially beautiful! So you have to work harder to reach the finals!”

With the affirmation of his peer, Qiao Zhiya finally became more confident and nodded seriously. “I will work hard! I will give my best in the final round of today!”

‘So, have you been holding back your true strength in the previous matches?’ Chu Yan thought.

Glancing at the brilliantly designed small green mecha, Chu Yan considered the time gap between the preliminaries and the finals, and contemplated the time required to manufacture a mecha. Chu Yan silently withdrew his hand and wiped his face. He began to think about how to secretly approach Master Ren and prepare a mecha for Qiao Zhiya in advance.

Even if he really made it to the finals, with such a short preparation time and the need to work on both Rongtian and weapons, Qiao Zhiya probably wouldn’t have time to prepare a mecha for himself. Moreover, even if he managed to prepare one, the color… it’s really too eye-catching, ah.
