The preparation time was three minutes. Qiao Zhiya lit up the mecha and first took out his hammer to try it out. Then he took out the modified bow and a small crossbow, hung the bow on the waist while the crossbow was buckled on the wrist.

His bow was very large, and it looked very conspicuous when hanging from the mecha’s waist. However, the audience couldn’t find where his arrows were.

Was that bow just a decoration? But that felt wrong, as Qiao also used bow and arrows during his VR matches. But then, where is his arrow? Did he forget to bring them? And that little crossbow? It looked so small, is it a toy?

On top of that, the action of this black mecha felt a bit weird… it felt… too human-like?

The audience was puzzled, and his opponent Liu Hongzi was also very puzzled, but he quickly left his extra thoughts behind. He took two more steps in place, and took out the weapon he was the most proficient at, a set of advanced artillery.

The advanced artillery system was a commonly used weapon with the advantages of a wide attack range, significant power, and a short charging time. However, it has notable drawbacks such as strong recoil, insufficient endurance, and the necessity for dual-handed operation.

The audience’s eyes swept back and forth between Liu Hongzi, who carried a huge cannon on his shoulder, and Qiao Zhiya, who was standing empty-handed. Many of them wondered: ‘Why is Qiao Zhiya not readying his weapon? Is he even ready to battle?’

The three minutes passed by in a flash. The countdown appeared in the center of the field, and the partition wall outside the initial area flashed. Once the countdown reaches zero, it disappears.

Liu Hongzi moved at the moment when the partition wall disappeared. He first stepped down to prevent a possible Qiao Zhiya attack, and then aimed the gun directly at Qiao Zhiya, firing continuously.

Qiao Zhiya’s response was also very fast, and he immediately left his initial place and lifted his wrist as he approached Liu Hongzi to make a slight twisting motion. However, unexpectedly, the sound of the artillery explosion did not occur. Instead, there was a strange swishing sound, accompanied by gasps from the audience. Liu Hongzi was propelled into the air after the projectile was launched.

Qiao Zhiya’s throwing action paused, sensing that something was wrong. He immediately looked at the small screen and noticed that the projectile, instead of exploding upon landing, transformed into a massive net. The net touched the ground and turned it into sand, spreading rapidly. Unnoticed, it had already reached his feet and adhered to the armor of his mecha. The sand began climbing and penetrating the mecha’s surface, creating significant resistance in the legs, substantially slowing down his movement.

“It’s gravity-altering powder! Liu Hongzi actually changed the projectiles before the match and replaced them with so many of these! This gravity powder leaves some residual traces in the barrel during launch, significantly affecting the weapon’s power. Is he crazy?”

As his match had finished, Chu Yan, who climbed to the special VIP seats and was watching the match with Chu Rong, couldn’t help but get anxious. He exclaimed more nervously than when he was competing on the field himself. “Qiao has too little experience in real mecha battles. Usually, he practices with us, completely lacking experience in dealing with such tricks. It’s over now, completely over. As the mecha gets more and more stuck with gravity powder, his movements will become slower until he can’t move anymore. He won’t be able to ascend, and Qiao will become a sitting duck.”

Chu Rong watched Qiao Zhiya move slowly, and finally stopped, Qiao Zhiya frowned deeply.

The audience quickly noticed the situation, first in confusion and then nervously cheering for Qiao Zhiya. Their expressions showed concern—being at a disadvantage right from the start, it seemed like this match might be in jeopardy.

Liu Hongzi flew to midair long before the gravity powder spread across the court. At this time, seeing that Qiao Zhiya was trapped and unable to move, he smiled with satisfaction and began to fire off his guns.

After losing last time, he carefully studied Qiao Zhiya’s match recordings and discovered that not only was his battle style wild and primitive, but his thinking was also quite primitive. Despite being in a mecha battle, Qiao Zhiya rarely utilized the mecha’s flight capabilities. Instead of using aerial maneuvers to evade, he preferred ground movements, as if he were engaging in a real-person battle. The occasional instances of taking to the air seemed to be a last resort when pressured by opponents.

Just now he deliberately fired the ammunition very low and fired it in order to force Qiao Zhiya to move forward, ignoring the strangeness of the ammunition. Qiao Zhiya, just as he predicted, ran straight forward without even thinking of flying.

“Foolish.”

He sneered, a hint of pleasure flashed in his eyes.

Exoplanet Natives are indeed just that – even if they’re geniuses, they couldn’t change their nature. The limitations of their minds cannot be changed in a lifetime.

As Liu Hongzi changed his ammunition, Qiao Zhiya in the audience surprisingly remained quiet, as if he had already given up the struggle. Enjoying the moment, Liu Hongzi took the opportunity to savor the sight of the black mecha being slaughtered at his mercy, and gleefully aimed the cannon at him.

‘Such arrogance. Didn’t even prepare arrows, thinking you’ve got an easy win? Goodbye, disgusting Native.’

He said in his heart and pressed the launch button.

The audience didn’t expect Qiao Zhiya to lose so quickly and passively. The cheers dwindled, and some couldn’t bear to watch the black mecha being hit by the shells. Chu Yan was also extremely anxious, scratching his head and face, unable to sit still.

Only Chu Rong’s eyes flickered suddenly, and his frown deepened.

The projectile with its flame tail rushed straight towards Qiao Zhiya, exploding!

The audience sighed with regret, Chu Yan pulled at his hair in despair, Chu Rong raised an eyebrow calmly, and Liu Hongzi smiled, ready to welcome the victory determined by the system.

“Don’t daydream, move your target.”

The system’s judgment did not sound, but Qiao Zhiya’s voice first came out from the smoke and dust formed after the explosion.

Liu Hongzi froze, the audience froze, and then looked down unbelievably.

In the central area of the field, amidst the residual sparks from the explosion, the black mecha stood firmly. The gravity-altering powder surrounding him, centered on his position, had disappeared at some point, revealing a safe zone just enough for the black mecha to stand and move. He held a bow, aiming directly at Liao Hongzi.

What happened?

The audience was all stupid and then got excited.

“Little Cutie you are the best!”

Cheers and applause reappeared, Qiao’s fans couldn’t wait to jump up in joy. He didn’t lose! He also reversed the situation!

It’s unclear how Qiao Zhiya managed it, but at the moment, except for the area where the black mecha was standing, the rest of the field was covered with gravity-altering powder. In other words, Liu Hongzi couldn’t touch the ground! He could only float in mid-air, helplessly enduring the attacks!

And with Qiao Zhiya’s scarily accurate aim, it’s only a matter of time before Liu Hongzi got shot down – wait, Qiao Zhiya had no arrow. What’s the use of only aiming an empty bow!

Audience fans began to worry again, and Liu Hongzi’s expression calmed down after a moment of hesitation. A sneer of pride was revealed, his gun barrel was directed at Qiao Zhiya again. ‘Die, stupid Native!’

Facing the muzzle again, Qiao Zhiya did not escape, but began to pull the bowstring. The audience gasped the moment a white flame slowly formed in his hand, seated nicely on the bowstring.

This was actually an energy bow! Seeing this arrow glowing white, it must be the most advanced concentrated energy arrow!

Goodness, how did he manage that? These non-physical energy weapons usually require compression to take shape, but it seems this bow doesn’t have an energy reservoir.

“Of course, there’s no energy reservoir because the entire bow is the energy reservoir.” Chu Yan, who witnessed Qiao Zhiya crafted the weapon, boasted. Hearing the faint commotion and discussions from the audience, he couldn’t help but comment. Then, leaning back in his chair, he sighed, “Victory, victory. Liu Hongzi is such a dumbass, he actually gave such a huge advantage to Qiao.”

Qiao Zhiya’s biggest weakness lies in the lack of coordination between his mecha and himself, making him unsuitable for prolonged battles. Now, Liu Hongzi has turned the situation into a stand-off, highlighting Qiao Zhiya’s advantages. It can only be said that Liu Hongzi is indeed a considerate opponent.

Chu Rong gave him a faint look and asked, “Do you see how Qiao avoided the first shot?”

Chu Yan froze and sat up silently. He really didn’t know this.

“Boom–”

Liu Hongzi’s ammunition hit the energy arrow. The two collided in mid-air, blowing up into a dazzling “firework”. Then, a faint flash of light passed through the “firework” and flew straight towards the golden mecha, still hovering mid-air. Suddenly, an announcement popped up, declaring Qiao Zhiya as the winner.

“Did you just see what happened again?” Chu Rong continued to ask, squinting to hide the pride and joy in his eyes.

Chu Yan was stunned in place. “Wasn’t he hit? Why did Liu Hongzi fall to the ground, he–”

The explosion of smoke dispersed, and Liu Hongzi’s mecha was exposed. A flaming arrow jutted straight at the leg-waist linkage area, and before long, the arrow exploded. It left a small crater in the mecha, rendering it immobile.

“——He shot another one immediately after the first arrow was knocked off?” Chu Yan finally woke up and raised his hand to cover his face. “Oh my God, what a terrible firing speed. No wonder Qiao never practiced using firearms, there’s no ammunition of the same level that can achieve such firing speed … “

After a moment of shock, the audience burst into shouting cheers. Although they didn’t know how Qiao Zhiya won, it’s his victory. He only needed three minutes to win! Awesome!

Chu Rong, watching the black mecha in the arena retracting the bow, smiled and looked at Chu Yan. He said, “You got the second question right. Have you figured out how Qiao avoided the first shot?” Without waiting for his answer, he walked straight towards the exit.

Chu Yan watched him leave, and he couldn’t help but roll his eyes. ‘Don’t think that I can’t see that Erge was just bragging! Is he an adult? So shameless!’

But still, he didn’t know what happened to the first shot. He frowned, wondering how.

“First shot?”

During lunch, Chu Yan couldn’t help but ask this question. Qiao Zhiya put down his spoon and replied, “I didn’t dodge. I needed to use the thermal energy after its explosion to disperse the gravity powder. So, I just used a hammer to hit it and make it explode. However, my hammer got broken as a result. I’ll have to see if it can be repaired when I go back. If not, I’ll have to make a new one.”

‘Hi-hit it?’

Chu Yan was stunned. ‘Can such a thing even be possible?’

“Eat.” Chu Rong squeezed Qiao Zhiya’s ears that had flattened because he thought the hammer was broken. He gestured at the soup in his hand.

Qiao Zhiya came back to his senses, feeling happy about winning the match. He shook his ears, lowered his head, and focused on drinking his soup.

Chu Yan was still baffled. He rewinded Qiao Zhiya’s match in his mind again and again.

‘So, Qiao Zhiya didn’t stand still because of resignation or not knowing how to respond. Instead, he waited patiently for the gravity powder to spread completely. Then, he enticed Liu Hongzi to shoot at him. He utilized the high-intensity heat generated by the explosion to blow away and dissipate the gravity powder. Qiao had planned this solution from the moment he was stuck?’

He turned his head and looked at Qiao Zhiya’s well-behaved manner of drinking soup. His face was drawn, and he silently prayed that he would not be in the same group with Qiao in the subsequent matches. At that time, Qiao’s own mecha must have been done. He doesn’t want to fight against Qiao…
