“Boom!”

The mecha let out a spin attack, the one Irere used before, but in a much more flexible and domineering way. Then, he let out a clear Chu-style leg sweep, tripping his opponent until they fell to the ground. The brown mecha then pulled a sword, much longer than the opponent’s own sword, and pointed it to the power core area.

“Forfeit, else I’ll stab it through. Then, you can only use your spare mecha for your next game.”

The gentle youth’s voice came out from the brown mecha, faintly tinged with a hint of disdain typical of the strong.

His opponent moved reluctantly, realizing that the tip of the sword was already pressed against the mecha’s armor and their weapon had slipped from their grasp. With a resigned gesture, they raised his hands in surrender.

The referee immediately announced Qiao Zhiya’s victory, and the audience cheered. Qiao Zhiya folded his sword, bent over to lift his opponent, and whispered, “Sorry.”

Being pressured and forced to forfeit like that would definitely not sit well with them.

His opponent patted his shoulder very kindly and said, “Thank you.”

So the audience cheers even more intensely. This was one of the reasons why they like Qiao Zhiya very much. If possible, Qiao Zhiya would try not to damage his opponent’s mecha too much, so they could continue to fight with their main mecha. It’s very different from many others, who usually went out their way to destroy their opponent’s mecha.

Ending the fourth day of the game with victory, Qiao Zhiya was firmly in 4th place in the rankings.  Chu Yan climbed to 5th because of the previous 5th place’s drop in rankings. Both of them actually steadily occupied play-offs placements.

In the auditorium, Chu Rong frowned, his expression was a bit ugly.

Qiao Zhiya’s progress was too obvious. High-intensity learning or fighting could always prompt him to grow faster. Chu Yan has also improved a lot in the game, but the results of both of their progress have made it difficult for Chu Rong and Chu Huai to feel happy.

The finals were survival-style battle royale. If they really enter, Chu Yan and Qiao Zhiya will not face such a dignified battle, but various terrible insidious traps.

Qiao Zhiya and Chu Yan were very excited at dinner, but the adults were a little silent.

But all they did was to remain silent. The current achievements were earned by the children through their own efforts. They couldn’t forcefully erase them just because of their own worries.

It depends on tomorrow’s game.

Chu Rong and Chu Huai looked at each other, and they saw the implicit message in the other’s eyes.

The next day, this round was about to yield its results.

There were many people who watched the competition on this day. Chu Huai and Gu Yan’an took a leave to watch in real-time. In fact, many people from big families also came to watch the competition.

Wei Yu of the Wei family sat in the corner and looked at the stadium with envy. In fact, he really wanted to participate in this competition, but because his parents forbade him, he could only give up.

Every time at moments like this, he couldn’t help but envy Chu Yan. Children from large families all had their own constraints, but Chu Yan, he always lived freely and boldly.

The morning game started, and the players started their final struggle.

Chu Yan had a bad start, losing 2 matches in a row, falling out of the top 5 and placing 7th. Qiao Zhiya lost 1 match and won 1 match, his rankings stayed the same, but if he was to lose 1 match, he would be on 5th.

After that, both of them won their next 2 matches, but the rankings weren’t changed.

The match continued in the afternoon. Chu Yan and Qiao Zhiya’s first two opponents were not strong. After winning 2 points, the ranking remained the same. At the same time, a player named Cao Xia emerged suddenly, winning 4 matches in the morning and 4 matches in the afternoon. This surge in points leap-frogged him to 6th place, very close to the current 5th place.

In the next 2 matches, Chu Yan played well. He scored 2 points in a row. Qiao Zhiya lost 1 and won 1, so his total points remained the same. Cao Xia encountered Chu Yan, losing the match and failing to earn any points. As a result, the rankings shifted again, with Chu Yan securing the top position, firmly holding onto 5th place.

The scores of the 5th and 6th place were too close, and the last finals place was contested, and everyone’s attention shifted.

In his second-to-last match, Chu Yan encountered a weaker player and easily won. Qiao Zhiya and Cao Xia also each scored 1 point, but the 4th ranker and 3rd ranker both lost their game, losing them 1 point – the 4th ranker lost their position, while the 3rd remained unchanged. Chu Yan became 4th, while the former 4th ranker tied with Qiao Zhiya for 5th place, while Cao Xia was 6th place.

Gu Yan’an felt her heart couldn’t take it anymore and dared not look at the rankings. She had initially thought the worst outcome would be only one of the two children making it to the play-offs. Now, seeing that both of them were likely to advance, she didn’t know what to do.

“There’s still one more match. If they lose, there’s a chance neither of them will advance,” Chu Huai frowned, trying to reassure Gu Yan’an. Having participated in this competition before, he didn’t want both of children to make it to the finals.

On the other hand, Chu Rong frowned upon hearing this, his gaze falling on the name “Cao Xia”, the current 6th ranker. If his expectations were correct, Qiao Zhiya’s final opponent should be this person, and most likely, he would lose.

In their last match, Qiao Zhiya’s opponent turned out to be the dark-horse Cao Xia. After a close match, Qiao Zhiya lost.

As for Chu Yan, his last opponent was Ling Yingxu, and the match ended in his loss.

But unexpectedly, the 3rd ranker and the 5th ranker (tied with Qiao Zhiya) both lost their matches. As a result, Cao Xia, who had only earned 1 point previously, climbed to 3rd place, pushing the former 3rd to 4th , Chu Yan to 5th, and Qiao Zhiya to a regrettable 6th place.

Chu Huai sighed and patted Gu Yan’an to assure her, saying, “It’s okay, only Xiao Yan goes to play-offs. We can let him compete so he can exercise more.”

As the two were conversing, the referee suddenly issued a ban to the 3rd ranker. The reason being, the 3rd ranker resorted to unethical means in the last two matches, fearing loss, and recklessly used banned psychostimulants. This was detected during the system’s performance review, resulting in their disqualification.

After learning this news, the expressions of the audience turned somewhat peculiar. The ex-3rd ranker’s actions were seen as an attempt to gain an unfair advantage, but it backfired spectacularly. By resorting to stimulants, not only did they fail to win the matches, but they also lost the position they had earned, making their actions seem rather foolish.

So all the 4th rankers advanced one place – Qiao Zhiya became 5th, although he was still tied with another contestant.

“Oh my God.”

Gu Yan’an covered her face, her heart beats irregularly.

“Don’t worry, it’s a tie , maybe–”

Chu Huai’s comforting words were cut short as the top 5 positions didn’t allow for ties. Therefore, the system automatically began its analysis and judgment. Qiao Zhiya’s mecha was intact, while the competitor tied with him had both their main and spare mechas damaged. As the last two matches were played using official mechas provided by the organizers, the system ultimately judged Qiao Zhiya to have better overall strength, placing him 5h. The tied competitor was pushed down to 6th place, and the rankings of the subsequent competitors were adjusted accordingly.

The audience was left bewildered by the twists and turns of the rankings. After a moment of silence, they erupted into joyous cheers. Fireworks celebrating the occasion lit up from various corners, but the expressions of the Chu family parents became increasingly grim.

Qiao Zhiya was also bewildered. He watched himself become 5th place and asked stupidly, “Why am I 5th? Is the system wrong?”

“It’s impossible for the system to have messed up.” Chu Yan raised his arm and draped it over his friend’s shoulder, looking at the ranking board. He imitated Chu Rong’s enigmatic expression and said, “Qiao, can you believe it? We made it to the finals.”

Qiao Zhiya shook his head. In fact, he felt like this was a dream.

“But we made it in!” Chu Uan glanced at him, boldly tugged at his ear, and his lips slowly curled upward, unable to contain his excitement as he hugged him tightly and began to shake him vigorously, exclaiming, “We made it to the play-offs! Can you believe it? We’re in the final round!”

Qiao Zhiya was shaken silly by him, but his emotions were infected by Chu Yan, and he also wore a smile.

This state remained until Qiao Zhiya’s qualifying round award ceremony. He was with Chu Rong, who seemed quite normal, and they returned home for dinner, took a shower, and obediently lay down in bed.

With a sudden weight beside him, he perked up his ears and moved to embrace, but his body was preemptively pressed down onto the bed. Chu Rong hovered above him, chillingly asking, “Are you happy to have made it to the play-offs?”

As if a cold wind swept through, dispersing the fog in his mind, Qiao Zhiya suddenly became clear-headed. He stared wide-eyed at the seemingly dangerous Chu Rong, feeling a tightening in his chest. He shook his head slowly and began to inch backward, stuttering, “N-no… w-we should sleep now.”

Chu Rong pulled him back, pinning him down with his legs. His hand traced along Qiao Zhiya’s cheek to his ear, giving it a gentle pinch before sliding down behind his ear, brushing against his neck, then following the contours of his chest down to his waist. With a slight pressure, he slotted their hips together. Chu Rong lowered his head and said deeply, “No rush. It’s only 9 PM. Weren’t you always eager to help me before? Today, let me teach you.”

Feeling the intimate closeness of their bodies, Qiao Zhiya’s eyes widened even more, and his heart rate began to accelerate rapidly. Remembering how Chu Rong used to endure so patiently before, he closed his eyes, blushing, and reached out his hand to explore further down.

Chu Rong’s body became stiff, his eyes darkened, and he stopped talking nonsense. He held down the youth’s hand and kissed it.

The next day, Qiao Zhiya did not go to the laboratory or study. Instead, he obediently stayed in the yard to play with his rabbits, his face flushed throughout.

Chu Yan, who had been tortured by Chu Huai, sneaked out of the house and saw him still sunbathing outside in the hot summer, with his face all red from the sun but still continuing to sunbathe. He walked over in confusion and asked, “What are you doing? Aren’t you hot?”

Qiao Zhiya shook his head, his face still very red and not talking.

Chu Yan became even more puzzled and simply sat down across from him, slouching on the table, and asked, “Did Erge scold you yesterday? Last night after dinner, Dasao talked my ear off. She almost cried at the end. Is the play-offs really that scary?”

The word “yesterday” seemed to trigger a strange switch in Qiao Zhiya. Now, not only his face but also his neck and ears turned red. Finally, he face-planted onto the table, using his arms to cover his face.

Shocked by his reaction, Chu Yan was worried that Qiao Zhiya might have heatstroke. He quickly sat up, opened a protective cover to shield them both, and lowered the temperature. Then, he cautiously poked Qiao Zhiyawith his finger, asking with concern, “Qiao, are you feeling dizzy? Do you need to go see Zhuang-jie?”

Qiao Zhiya shook his head, his voice muffled out of his arm, vaguely saying, “Male rabbit and male rabbit…”

“What?”

His voice was too low, Chu Yan couldn’t hear him clearly.

Qiao Zhiya however, seemed embarrassed by his own words. Suddenly sitting up, he waved his hand and said, “It’s nothing, I’m going to the lab. Chu Rong said the finals are too dangerous, so we can improve the performance of our weapons. I… I’m going to work on a new weapon.” With that, he quickly got up and dashed off at a fast pace.

Chu Yan watched as he smashed through his protective cover and ran away, as if he hadn’t seen the cover and felt no pain. His eyes widened almost to the point of popping out, and hesitating for a moment, he got up and tentatively bumped his head against the shield, puzzled, “It’s so easy to break through. Could it be a counterfeit product?”

“Bam!”

He squatted to the ground with tears in his eyes. Rubbing his sore head, he felt that either Qiao or him were crazy.

In the laboratory, Qiao Zhiya held two homemade mecha models. At first, he diligently studied the installation of new weapons and designed proportions. However, as he continued his research, his thoughts began to wander. His gaze gradually fell on the buttocks of the mecha models, and he even tried to adjust the legs of the mecha.

‘Last night Chu Rong seemed to be trying to prod around this place… though, he immediately retracted his finger, his hand really went to this place…’

Fair and tender fingers poked slowly at the mecha’s buttocks. He suddenly woke up and threw the mecha model to the workbench. His left hand slapped his own right hand, which had just touched something improper, then guiltily covered the model mecha with a piece of cloth.

‘No, it’s impossible. How could that place be used like that? That’s not how it works… But, there are some animals in the forest… Hmm… No, no, no, it’s still impossible. The model is clearly wrong, it couldn’t happen!’

‘But, but, if Chu Rong wants to use that place…’

He paused, turned his head, and looked at his own butt in the mirror. He tentatively reached out and touched his…

“Creak—”

The sound of the door being twisted open suddenly echoed, startling him. He quickly withdrew his hand and glanced blurry at the figure of Chu Rong appearing at the doorway. His heart pounded, too flustered to wonder why Chu Rong, who was supposed to be having a meeting in the study, had suddenly come over. He looked around in a panic and then hurriedly crawled into Elf’s cockpit, hiding himself.

Chu Rong frowned at the sight, recalling what Chu Yan had said about Qiao Zhiya foolishly sunbathing and possibly getting heatstroke. His expression grew more serious, and he strode over to the Elf, leaping up with the support of its arm to stop in front of the cockpit. He knocked on the door and said, “Qiao, come out.”

There was no movement in the cockpit, as if no one was inside.

Chu Rong became increasingly concerned and directly used his spiritual power to unlock the cockpit, pushing the door open.

Qiao Zhiya watched as the door was opened, regretting not having disabled Chu Rong’s access to the Elf’s cockpit. Feeling extremely embarrassed, his face flushed with heat. He lunged forward, solemnly retrieving a small branch from the storage compartment and throwing it to the ground. With a serious tone, he declared, “Chu Rong, let’s duel!”

The rules of the forest: the strong conquer the weak! If Chu Rong really wants to t-top him, then… he had to defeat him!

Chu Rong frowned as he locked eyes with him, squinting. Suddenly, he bent down, hoisted him onto his shoulders, and then jumped down from the Elf, striding purposefully towards the medical room. ‘ Chu Yan is right, this Bald Chicken really got a heatstroke and became stupid from it.’
