Despite being hoisted up, Qiao Zhiya frantically kicked and struggled, determined to uphold the dignity of his duel challenge.

Chu Rong exerted his dominance, patting Qiao Zhiya’s butt as a warning. “Don’t move,” he cautioned.

So Qiao Zhiya immediately gave up, his ears and face turning even redder. He softened his body, grabbing onto Chu Rong’s shirt hem and burying his face in it. ‘H-how dare he spanked me! Th-that’s too much! Foul!’

Feeling the tug on his shirt, Chu Rong became concerned that the position might be uncomfortable for Qiao Zhiya, so he quickly turned him around and held him close, face to face, in his arms.

Qiao Zhiya’s eyes widened, staring at him with a pouting expression, resembling that of a sulking monkey.

Chu Rong frowned even more, raised his hand and placed it on his forehead. ‘Ah, it’s really heatstroke, that’s why his face is so red.’

Bah.

Qiao Zhiya suddenly leaned forward and took a bite out of him.

Chu Rong stopped and looked down at him.

“I want to duel!” Qiao Zhiya solemnly emphasized.

Chu Rong’s expression became even grimmer. He sped up his steps towards the infirmary.

The training hall was not far from the infirmary, and by the time they exchanged these few words, they had already arrived.

Seeing Chu Rong holding Qiao Zhiya with a grim expression, Zhuang Yu thought something serious had happened and quickly dropped what she was doing to greet them.

Half an hour later, she held a stack of test results, smiling on the outside but cursing inwardly as she escorted both of them out of the infirmary, cutting short any further examinations. She also slipped a few candies to Qiao Zhiya and, with a half-smile, half-frown, said, “Sir, I’m very busy, very busy indeed. Do you understand what I mean? Because of the pharmaceutical reform, I’ll be busy this year, maybe even until next year.”

She had zero time to waste!

After saying this, she closed the door to the medical room, clearly demonstrating a “top-down” approach for the first time.

Qiao Zhiya looked very confused. “Chu Rong, what’s wrong with Zhuang Yu? Also, why did you take me here to check?”

Chu Rong glanced at him, noticing his normal complexion, and furrowed his brows. He took his hand and said, “It’s nothing. It’s almost noon, let’s go have lunch first.”

The two went back to the main house and ate lunch. The atmosphere was normal during the meal. When Chu Rong arranged for Qiao Zhiya to take a nap, he still insisted: “Chu Rong, we still haven’t dueled! “

Chu Rong silently watched him, knowing that he was actually fine physically. With his intelligence finally coming back online, he leaned forward suddenly and gave him a kiss.

Qiao Zhiya, who was attacked suddenly, was taken aback. His eyes widened, his ears straightened, then he looked at Chu Rong blankly. After a while, his face flushed crimson, then he grabbed the quilt and hid himself, but he was still calling for a duel despite his voice being muffled.

‘It turned out not to be a heatstroke. He’s just stupid.’

Chu Rong narrowed his eyes, grabbed the quilt, pulled him over, and lifted him up, heading towards the mecha combat arena. ‘It seems the Bald Chicken’s tantrum was probably due to being spoiled too much, and a good scolding would likely solve it.’

The two of them each climbed into their respective manually-piloted mechas. This time, Chu Rong showed no mercy, relentlessly controlling his mecha to pin down Elf repeatedly, delivering fatal blows whenever possible without any sentimentality. He even, for the first time, brought out weapons.

Qiao Zhiya finally got a real taste of Chu Rong’s terrifying skills in mecha piloting. Despite his short reach of his weapons, he just couldn’t seem to grasp Chu Rong’s vulnerabilities and was repeatedly subdued by the black dagger he had crafted for Chu Rong.

It’s like a cat teasing a mouse. He is the mouse while Chu Rong is the cat. No matter where he attacks, there’s always a dagger waiting for him.

With each defeat, the pink bubbles in his mind disappeared entirely, and Qiao Zhiya’s expression grew increasingly tense. His attacks became fiercer, and the battle genes buried deep within his blood were triggered. Elf the mecha began to resemble a real-life elf, its movements evolving from mere ferocity to something more delicate and graceful.

‘——Without finesse, I’ll lose even more miserably!’

The sound of the mechas battling echoed throughout the entire afternoon, and in the end, it was Chu Rong who carried Qiao Zhiya out of the mech arena.

Early the next morning, Chu Rong refused to give Qiao Zhiya a chance to get sick again. He immediately took him to the mecha battle hall.

For four days in a row, Chu Rong took Qiao Zhiya to the Mech Battle Hall early in the morning. Then after a tyrannical training session, he gave Qiao Zhiya a bath and a massage. Then, while laying down on bed, Chu Rong helped Qiao Zhiya via a thorough analysis of his mistakes.

On the fifth day, Chu Rong reduced the time spent battling with Qiao Zhiya, allowing him more time to work on new weapons and helping him analyze previous matches. Qiao Zhiya was fully absorbed in the process, as the battles and analysis of the past few days provided him with plenty of inspiration. He needed to make the most of his time to create new weapons and modify his mecha.

After getting Qiao Zhiya busy, Chu Rong dragged Chu Yan to the mecha battle hall and replicated the situation from the previous days. However, Chu Yan didn’t receive the same loving treatment as Qiao Zhiya. After being defeated, he had to return to the main residence to tidy up himself. Massages were done using massage machines, and he had to reflect on the battles and analyze them on his own. Only then would Chu Rong provide guidance based on the feedback he provided.

Half a month flashed in a hurry, and soon the play-offs arrived. Chu Rong took leave and personally accompanied them to the final competition venue on the border planet F90, where the final survival match would take place.

“Is it really okay for you to take a leave?” Qiao Zhiya expressed some concern and self-blame, feeling that he had delayed Chu Rong’s important tasks, saying, “The presidential election is about to start, and Dage also needs help.”

Today when they set off, he thought that it would be Dasao accompanying them to the competition, and Chu Rong was just there to see them off. However, he didn’t expect that in the end, Chu Rong also boarded the spaceship with them, while Gu Yan’an stayed outside.

Chu Rong patted his head and reassured, “It’s okay, I transferred Fan Xiangnan to Dage’s side to help. The competition was only half a month, and by then, the presidential election wouldn’t be over. I can come back then and help with the most important tasks.”

In fact, the real competition only took about 2 days. The rest of the time was actually for the return journey, and some extra buffer times if things went south. If things went well, they would return much earlier.

Qiao Zhiya listened to the explanation with a furrowed brow. Seeing his reaction, Chu Yan quickly took out the light brain and raised his voice, saying, “This final match will be broadcasted on the Starnet, not only for the Federation but also for the Empire’s audience. Qiao Zhiya, there are a hundred participants in total. What rank do you think we can achieve?”

For the past half month, Qiao Zhiya has been focused on making weapons and hasn’t paid much attention to the details of the finals. So, he didn’t know there would be a hundred participants. He expressed his surprise, saying, “A hundred people? That many?” He had thought there would be at most fifty participants.

“Not too many. There are 10 districts for both the Federation and the Empire, with the top 5 of each district participating. Considering the number of planets in the entire Blue Galaxy, this competition only divides the districts on some A-level and B-level planets. It’s already considered a proper reduction in scale.”

Chu Yan, noticing his attention shift, pulled out another sheet of paper containing the list of finalists. He pointed to several names that were circled in advance and said, “There are quite a few familiar faces in this competition. For example, this one, Jexiu, the son of General Neitaxi of the Empire. He used to be one of my defeated opponents when he studied in the Federation. I didn’t expect him to make it to the finals. And this one, Fan Qi, the young master of the Fan family, also a military academy student. However, he didn’t register in the Capital Planet district like us; instead, he signed up on the A03 planet where the Fan family’s headquarters are located, so we didn’t cross paths with him. There are also a few familiar classmates from the military academy scattered in the other regions. They probably thought the competition in the Capital Planet district would be fierce, so they all registered in other regions.”

Qiao Zhiya spends little time at school, so he didn’t know many people Chu Yan had pointed out. He only knew about Jexiu, and he only heard about Fan Qi in the passing and never saw the real person.

Chu Yan saw that he was confused, stopped the topic in time, and said, “I heard that the Third Prince of the Empire also reached the final. Now the Empire has high expectations for him. It is said that old Emperor even interested in making him the heir of the throne—”

Chu Rong gave him a slight glance, and reached out and squeezed the spiritual power simulator on Qiao Zhiya’s ear.

The sharp spiritual energy circled around the group, and Chu Yan immediately fell silent, knowing that gossip about the Empire was not suitable for discussion in such a public setting like a spaceship. His Erge was reminding him.

Qiao Zhiya looked back at Chu Rong in confusion, shaking his ears while wearing the simulator, and asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Just giving you some spiritual strength.” Chu Rong replied, rubbing his hair again, and continued, “The test of this game is survival. If you can’t keep going, forfeit immediately. Safety is more important.”

Qiao Zhiya glanced at Chu Yan who suddenly began to bury himself in his fruit plate, nodded obediently, and said, “Okay.”

If Xiao Yan is eliminated, he will certainly forfeit immediately. But if Xiao Yan is still playing, then he’ll stay by his side until the competition is over.

He could sense some of their worries, and as he considered himself older than Chu Yan, he felt the need to protect his younger brother.
