Next week, I’ll be subjecting myself with overtimes to ensure I can get my leave without worrying much of my work (I’m going to a con!). So, I’ll be off next week! See you on the 28th~

Qiao Zhiya suddenly looked back, suppressing his fear, while dodging quickly to avoid the attack of the ugly Zerg. He spread his magic to form a barrier to protect the participants below. At the same time, he took out his bow, aimed at the head of the nearest Zerg, and let out the arrow flew.

“Woosh—”

The arrow, flying with extra forward force, penetrated the hard shell of the Zerg, and burrow its way straight through its brain. The giant insect-like creature plummeted to the ground below.

However, he’ss too late – there were too many Zergs, while the participants were too scattered. In the blink of an eye, a participant’s mecha was bitten by a landing Zerg. Terrible crunching sounds echoed, as the armor of the mecha was slowly – but surely – eaten, until it reached the cockpit area.

Seeing this, Qiao Zhiya flew back to rescue them. But to his left, another wave of Zergs were about to land, one of them swooping towards him without hesitation.

“No!”

The mother of one of the participants trapped on the flagship covered her face in despair and fell to the ground.

The last participant who had the ability to fight back was also attacked. The remaining participants would sooner or later become lambs for slaughter in front of the Zergs.

Many of them had vivid memories of Zergs plundering the land, wantonly killing and eating humans. A sense of dread hung heavily in the air.

“Bang bang bang!”

However, what they thought was inevitable – the Zerg eating the fallen participant – did not happen. Instead, the battlefield was filled with sounds of heavy artillery firing.

‘This is…’ The mother of the participant who fell to the ground looked up at the live broadcast. The light of hope in her eyes lit once again when she saw the familiar black-gold mecha flying. She murmured, “He’s…”

“It’s Marshal Chu!”

Someone shouted, and that sound pulled many of them from hopelessness. One by one, they all looked at the live broadcast, as if they were seeing a savior descending to earth. When the black-gold mecha appeared near the participants, it immediately killed the several Zergs that were about to attack the brown mecha.

This black-gold color! This familiar double-barreled gun! He’s really Chu Rong, the Marshal Chu Rong who killed the Zerg Queen! They’re saved! The participants have been saved!

Everyone stared at the black-gold mecha, who was raining down attacks towards the incoming Zerg. Light of hope bloomed inside their hearts.

Qiao Zhiya knew that some Zergs were attacking him from behind. But the Zerg below had already bitten the participant’s cockpit, and he had to save them first.

He accurately shot the Zerg’s head. After the attack, he immediately wanted to dodge to avoid the sneak attack, but he found that the attacking Zergs were unexpectedly fast. But then, something caught him from behind, so quick that he couldn’t react in time. That thing instantly vacated him from the attacking Zerg’s way.

‘Wait, caught me?’

His heart skipped beats. Not long after, his magic sensed a familiar aura. He turned his head to look at his back.

“Wait here and protect yourself.”

The familiar deep voice came from the black-gold mecha. He then was taken away from the center of the Zerg wave. Moments after he landed, a protective barrier was erected. Then the black-gold mecha returned to the battlefield and rushed to the participants who were targeted by the Zergs.

The Zerg seemed to be aware of the threat. They collectively rushed towards the black-gold mecha, moving more aggressively than before.

Qiao Zhiya’s joy at seeing Chu Rong immediately dissipated. He stepped forward with concern, only to be stopped by the protective barrier before realizing it. Quickly suppressing other emotions, he deactivated the barrier and took out his bow and arrows — there was no way he would just stand by; this wasn’t Chu Rong’s fight alone.

There was a whistling sound behind him. Chu Rong’s heart stirred. He moved with the shot, quickly taking out the approaching Zergs. He glanced sideways to see one Zerg falling to the ground with an arrow stuck in its body. His heavy heart eased slightly. With a brief glance at the brown mecha standing in the distance with a bow, he continued charging towards the participants.

The two of them cooperated seamlessly: one maneuvered within the Zerg ranks while the other provided long-range support with arrows, quickly creating an opening. Chu Rong swiftly approached the spot where the participants had fallen, driving away the nearby Zergs with a few shots. After precisely deploying several protective barriers, he raised his voice to remind them, “To those still conscious, immediately lock your spiritual energy. These fake Zergs emit spiritual power waves to exert pressure on your mind.”

The remaining conscious participants immediately locked back their spiritual energy upon hearing this command. They quickly realized that the overwhelming sense of threat that had rendered them immobile and in agony earlier had disappeared. Their bodies regained their freedom of movement, although they could no longer operate their mechas.

“Those with keyboard-piloting method installed on their mechas, use them to move to the side of other participants. Those without, exit your mechas and take cover inside the protective barrier.”

Chu Rong continued issuing orders, then turned around to once again stand in front of the second wave of oncoming Zergs.

The news of the reappearance of the Zerg quickly spread throughout the Federation. Chu Huai stared intently at the live broadcast until he saw Chu Rong appear, which slightly eased his tense nerves. Ignoring the continuous communication requests from the President, he ordered, “Something’s off with the competition. Cease attempts to contact Chu Rong. Deploy the military, including the teams currently stationed on nearby mining planets. Send them all over!”

“Yes!” Fan Xiangnan immediately responded and turned to walk outside.

Meanwhile in the Empire, upon learning of the reappearance of the Zerg, the old Emperor trembled, his face quickly flushing red, then his eyes rolled back, and he collapsed to the ground.

Screams abound, as the Imperial Palace descended into panic.

In the battlefield, the black holes in the air began to shrink, and the number of incoming Zerg was getting smaller and smaller.

The participants gathered together, the awake ones guarding the unconscious ones. They huddled inside several layers of protective barriers, watching as the black-gold mecha continued to battle the Zergs in the sky. Fear and the relief of surviving a disaster intertwined, and their voices began to tremble.

“Why can they still pilot their mechas?”

The asker of this question was one of the guards of the Third Prince. Neither he nor the Third Prince’s mechas were equipped with keyboard controls, so they had retracted from their mechas and were now standing inside the protective barrier. His words were audible to everyone present.

As soon as the black hole appeared, the air was filled with a plethora of spiritual energy-suppressing entities. Everyone was shaken and disconnected from their mechas, collapsing weakly on the ground. Only Qiao Zhiya and Chu Rong, who suddenly emerged, remained stable in their mechas and could continue to fight with ease. This naturally aroused curiosity among the others.

Upon hearing this, An Mhu, the Third Imperial Prince, glanced thoughtfully towards Chu Yan, who was still sitting in his mecha, guarding them. Not only Qiao Zhiya and Chu Rong but also this young master from the Chu family could still operate a mecha. Although he could only perform basic movements and not engage in combat, it was still much better than the others.

Having some understanding of what the Chu family was researching, Fan Qi turned his head towards the guard mentioned, giving him a casual glance. He said, “Don’t forget, Marshal Chu was still able to pilot a mecha even when his spiritual powers hadn’t fully recovered years ago. He even defeated your Empire’s top warrior.”

With those words, both the guard and the Third Prince’s expressions changed, frowning as they looked towards Fan Qi.

Fan Qi ignored their stares, his hands busy fiddling with the communicator as he continued trying to establish contact with the outside world.

With his bow and arrows depleted of energy and no more supplies left, Qiao Zhiya stowed away his bow and leaped high with his giant hammer. He charged towards a Zerg behind Chu Rong and forcefully brought down the hammer, smashing the insectoid creature’s head into a pulp, the force enough to make its bodily, viscous fluid sprayed everywhere.

“Uhm……”

A certain participant who had just regained consciousness opened their eyes to witness such a scene. Their eyes widened, their head tilted, and they promptly passed out again.

The attention of the other participants was drawn to the scene, allowing An Mhu to discreetly glance towards the corner of the protective barrier where a man with long hair lay. He lightly tapped the communicator in his hand.

The man with long hair heard the sound and opened his eyes. He exchanged a glance with An Mhu, then quietly got up and slipped away from the protective barrier, heading towards a distant location away from the scene.

Beside Fan Qi, Ling Yingxu turned his head upon hearing the movement, but all he saw was An Mhu retracting the communicator. He frowned, becoming even more vigilant.

Half an hour later, the black hole completely sealed shut, and the sky returned to normal. The last remaining Zergs were swiftly taken care of by Chu Rong. The black-gold mecha and the brown mecha landed together and approached the participants.

Chu Yan’s eyes lit up, and he quickly manipulated his mecha to meet them halfway. Seeing this, the other participants also got up and followed suit.

The audience who were still watching the live stream on the Starnet couldn’t help but cheer when they saw this—they were relieved. Wonderful! Their savior, Chu Rong, once again eradicated the Zergs and saved everyone!

As if to mock their naivety, the live stream suddenly started flickering, and the familiar hurricane rose again. All the cheers died down as everyone stared wide-eyed at the sky, which suddenly changed color on the live broadcast.

The brown and black-gold mechas came to a halt simultaneously. Qiao Zhiya’s ears perked up in alert, then his expression drastically changed. Without hesitation, he took out his bow and arrow dispenser and threw it at Chu Yan’s silver-gray mech. At the same time, his vision darkened, and the familiar black-gold mech suddenly embraced him.

“Don’t be afraid.”

Darkness descended, accompanied by a hissing sound that seemed to fill the entire sky. The last thing he saw before losing consciousness was the image of Chu Yan’s mecha being hit by the bow as he attempted to charge forward, the sudden change in expressions of the participants, and the appearance of dense black holes and ominous black limbs.

The sound of birdsong echoed in his ears as Qiao Zhiya’s eyelashes fluttered. Slowly, he opened his eyes, initially feeling groggy. Then, as he remembered what had happened before he lost consciousness, he suddenly sat up, feeling dizzy. His body went limp, and he fell back onto the bed made of leaves.

“Don’t move.”

The familiar voice sounded above his head, followed by his forehead being rubbed. Then, his body fell into a familiar embrace.

His mood immediately settled, and once the dizziness in his mind subsided, he quickly turned his head to look at the person holding him. His gaze met Chu Rong’s furrowed, worried face. He pursed his lips and opened his arms, embracing him back tightly.

Chu Rong quickly set down the water cup in his hand and returned the embrace, soothingly running his hand along his back. The anxiety that had been hanging over him all day finally lifted. He comforted him, saying, “It’s okay now, you’re safe. Everything’s fine.”

Qiao Zhiya tilted his head and nuzzled against his neck, exerting some pressure to ensure that his body temperature and pulse were normal. Finally calming down, he released him slightly and looked around at the unfamiliar forest scenery. Furrowing his brow, he asked, “Where are we? And what about those sudden dark things that appeared before I passed out?”

He only vaguely remembered that the fluctuations in the air suddenly felt wrong. Then, he was engulfed by darkness.

After that, he knew nothing.

“It’s a small black hole. When the new black hole suddenly appeared, we were sucked into it,” Chu Rong answered, furrowing his brow. He soothingly rubbed his ears and placed some food in front of him. “It seems like we’ve been brought to a primitive planet that hasn’t been discovered by humans. Communication devices are completely ineffective here, and we can’t determine our location. Let’s start by eating something to fill our stomachs. I’ll figure out a way to get us home, so don’t worry.”

Qiao Zhiya was momentarily stunned by his words but quickly processed them. Suddenly, a bold guess popped into his mind.

He always wondered if he had been brought to Chu Rong’s world by the black hole. Now that had crossed through the black hole to here, where communication devices were ineffective. Could it be… that ineffectiveness was caused because they’re currently in his world, in the magic continent?

His ears perked up as he immediately tuned into the magic. Soon enough, he detected magical fluctuations in the air here!

There is magic! On this strange primitive planet! Where the communication devices are ineffective!

With widened eyes, he didn’t waste any time talking. He quickly knelt down, concentrating to gather magic and began drawing a bloodline-search magic array.

With the help of magic elements in the air, the array quickly took shape. It even emitted a strong white soft light that even Chu Rong could see.

As soon as the light appeared, Chu Rong’s muscles tensed up, and protectively, he wrapped his hand around Qiao Zhiya’s shoulder. However, upon realizing that the soft white light was emanating from his fingertips, Chu Rong furrowed his brow, and his tense muscles relaxed. He watched his movements attentively.

After the array was completed, Qiao Zhiya plucked a hair and threw it into the array. He also bit his finger and dripped a drop of blood into it for assurance.

Chu Rong’s expression darkened. Without time to express his surprise, the blood was absorbed into the array while the hair began to spin. Grabbing his hand, Chu Rong took out a medical kit and started dressing his wound.

The hair spun rapidly for a few seconds, then with a soft pop, it self-ignited without fire, turning into a wisp of ash.

“How could this…” Hope froze in Qiao Zhiya’s eyes as he touched the ashes incredulously. He then sensed the magical elements in the air once again, furrowing his brow. Without hesitation, he began drawing the same magic array once more.

When he wanted to bite his finger again, Chu Rong held his shoulder and held him in his arms. Despite his deep frown, his tone was rather calming. “Qiao, calm down, I will take you back, don’t be afraid.”

The back of his head was held down. His nostrils were filled with Chu Rong’s familiar scent.

As the familiar scent wafted over, the hope in his eyes gradually extinguished. His body went limp, and he buried his face in Chu Rong’s embrace, letting his ears droop down.

He… didn’t return to his home world? Then… why is the air here filled with magical fluctuations?
