Ning Tianya: Ning family’s head. Former Chairman.

Long Ruifeng: the President.

An Xei: The Emperor’s younger brother. A Prince and a scholar. Married to Ning Tianwu.

An Mhu: ex-Third Imperial Prince. Now the current Emperor.

Ning Tianya and Long Ruifeng fell into silence, calmed down their anger, and looked at the video call interface that appeared in mid-air.

In the corner, Elder You, the head of the You family, sat quietly with a blank expression. He appeared as if he didn’t hear any of these disputes, immersed in his own world.

In the battlefield, mechas coordinated with small warships, and the impulsive and mindless Zergs were soon bewildered by the ever-changing formations of the Chu family army, gradually being annihilated one by one.

“This manually-piloted mecha is really easy to use. Sadly, the response speed is a tad slower than I would like.” After the situation stabilized, any more lively member of Fan Xiangnan’s squadron commented as they sigh.

“It’s really easy to use.” A deep voice echoed, his tone implying excitement.

He was one of the fighters without spiritual power cultivated by Chu Rong. After years of hard work, he finally drove a mecha to the battlefield, making his dream come true. He has no regrets in this life.

Fan Xiangnan didn’t stop them from chatting during this war – the war that shouldn’t have happened in the first place. He felt slightly relaxed.

These manually-piloted mechas were hastily constructed from Qiao Zhiya’s research under the supervision of Master Ren after several sleepless nights, once the encirclement operation was nearing finalization. At that time, Chu Huai delayed responding to the encirclement invitation precisely for this reason.

With time running short, the allocation and test-driving of the mechas were completed en route to the Empire. The soldiers only had a brief familiarization with the mechas on the training ground before heading into battle. Fortunately, the system framework provided by Qiao and the tailored configurations of the mechas were very effective. Although the synchronization system was slightly delayed, as long as everyone was careful and quick to react, basic combat was still manageable.

The Goddess of Fortune still smiles upon them, it seems.

He swung his weapon again, killing another incoming Zerg, and was about to command everyone to change formation to provide support elsewhere when he heard several team members couldn’t help but exclaim in shock.

His intuition told him something was wrong. He quickly expanded his field of vision to observe the battlefield, and the relaxed mindset he had just emerged with immediately vanished, replaced by a sense of gravity and despair that settled over him.

In the conference room of the Imperial Royal flagship, the figure of An Xei appeared in mid-air, casually stating, “The Chu family only has a small, insignificant mecha squad. Why are you all in such a hurry? So what if the Xiang and Wei families discover issues with the medicine? Once they’re all dead, who will know the truth? Didn’t I tell you to cut off external communication to the battlefield in advance? With no news leaking out, can’t you be more mature and calm?”

‘Once they’re all dead?’

Long Ruifeng’s eyes widened, initially finding the suggestion terrifying. After all, those were still the members of the Four Great Families; it wouldn’t be so easy to suppress them. However, soon a sense of satisfaction, tinged with a bloody anticipation, rose from within him, rapidly expanding.

Yeah, if those pesky people are all dead, won’t this world become more beautiful? What is the fragile human being in front of the powerful Zerg? Just let the Zerg kill all those pests, kill those who have been belittling him…

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but glance at Ning Tianya, his gaze momentarily distorted before quickly suppressing it, striving to maintain a normal tone as he said, “But the Xiang and Wei families have taken precautions early. The team they sent this time is obviously not elite. Even the person in charge is just a loyal follower they cultivated. Even if we eliminate them, it won’t cause too much damage to the strength of the Xiang and Wei families. And there’s Chu Huai from the Chu family—”

“Grind them down slowly. A game is only fun if the pace is right. Haste makes waste, remember that.” An Xei interrupted him, looking visibly disgusted by Long Ruifeng’s impatience. He glanced at Ning Tianya and the newly-crowned Emperor and said, “Do you know what to do?”

Ning Tianya gave a dismissive glance at Long Ruifeng, nodded, and got up and said, “I’ll go back to the Ning family’s flagship to arrange the medicines.”

The new Emperor blanked for a moment. After An Xei hung up the communication, he collapsed and fell to the chair. His eyes closed shut, clearly passing out.

“What is that?”

One of the squadron members asked.

“That’s a Zerg.” Fan Xiangnan answered, watching the black hole that suddenly appeared from the periphery of the He family’s army. His heart felt cold. “Is the Ning family and the Empire crazy?”

With so many Zerg, all of the human beings here wouldn’t be able to escape its encirclement. Do the Empire and the Ning family want to die together?

“Look! The black hole where the Zerg Queen is located is expanding! It’s about to release another wave of Zergs!” exclaimed another squad member closer to the black hole.

Yuan Lie in the warship quickly realized that the situation was wrong. He discovered that the Empire flagship suddenly cut off communication with them, and all external communications suddenly malfunctioned.

“Signal blockade,” came the voice of He Hongjun, cold and sharp like the edge of a blade sliding across a surface. “They want to wipe us out in one fell swoop.”

The situation took a turn for the worse as a dense horde of Zergs, seemingly endless, surged from the outskirts of the battlefield towards the center. Meanwhile, on the other side, the black hole where the Zerg Queen was located had fully expanded, spewing out a massive pile of new Zergs, enveloping the battlefield in an ominous darkness.

The soldiers fighting in outer space had no time to return to the warship. They were surrounded by the dense Zergs.

Some of the Zergs even reached the warships, beginning to gnaw at their hulls. They showed no fear of death; as soon as the first batch was killed by gunfire, the second batch immediately took their place, behaving like a group of manipulated fanatics.

“Members, gather! Don’t disperse! Protect each other! Hurry!”

The captains of the various squads roared and tried to protect their comrades.

“Look! The Ning, You, and the Empire’s flagship aren’t targeted by the Zerg! What the fuck is happening!”  Some soldiers found something wrong and exclaimed.

Chu Yan ordered the warship to ram into a Zerg that was about to attack a teammate, his eyes filled with resentment—why else would these Zergs be here if not for the efforts of the Ning family and the Empire? They must have a way to prevent these ugly creatures from attacking themselves!

Cursing inwardly, he didn’t say anything on the communication channel. He only upped the frequency of his attacks towards the horde of Zergs.

“We must open the warship hatches and let everyone come back in! Otherwise, they’ll all die out there!” Zhuang Yu, who was allowed to stay in the command room as an exception, exclaimed anxiously.

Yuan Lie didn’t blame her for speaking up suddenly. With clenched teeth and a tense expression, he said, “No! The Zergs are tearing at the hull of the warship. Once we open the hatches, all the non-combat personnel in the ship who have no means of self-defense will be killed.”

Zhuang Yu was stunned as she looked at the comrades surrounded by the dense swarm of Zergs, only occasionally glimpsed through the detection instruments. Fear and despair welled up from the depths of her heart, and she shook her head in disbelief, “No, we’ve already rushed to produce the mechas, we’ve already…”

‘There are too many Zergs.’

The same thought echoed in the minds of all the soldiers, but they didn’t falter. They fought on, continuing the battle. The more Zergs they killed, the greater the hope that their comrades would survive. So they couldn’t stop. They absolutely could not stop.

“Kill them!”

Someone suddenly screamed, adrenaline pumping in their blood. The soldiers suddenly feel encouraged, shooting their weapons even more fiercely towards the Zergs.

The black flagship halted in midair, finally breaking free from the asteroid belt’s range. After moving forward for a while, the previously extinguished signal system suddenly lit up again.

Chu Rong immediately dialed the Chu family’s communication number, while Qiao Zhiya dialed Chu Yan’s number.

At the Chu residence, Chu Huai was initially puzzled when he saw the emergency communication light in the study, which hadn’t lit up for over a decade, suddenly flash. Then, he abruptly realized something and rushed over, almost frantically answering the communication.

The video call interface popped up, and Chu Rong’s figure appeared in the air.

After holding his breath for over two months, Chu Huai suddenly released it all, causing his body to wobble unsteadily, nearly falling to the ground.

Chu Rong looked at Chu Huai, who appeared visibly distressed, and Gu Yan’an, who sat beside him with a pale face and a distant look in her eyes. His heart skipped a beat and he quickly asked, “Dage, what’s going on at home?”

Before Chu Huai could reply, the old butler suddenly pushed the door open and stumbled in, saying, “Eldest Young Master, we’ve lost contact. We can’t reach Lieutenant General Yuan Lie, nor Young Master Xiangnan, nor Third Young Master. We can’t reach any of them.”

Chu Huai and Gu Yanan’s expressions changed greatly.

At the same time, a message saying “the other party could not be reached” came out of Qiao Zhiya’s communicator.

Chu Rong glanced back and forth at their expressions and then at the communicator in Qiao Zhiya’s hand, suddenly realizing what was happening. He immediately reached out and shut off the communication, while attempting to contact Fan Xiangnan and the others. At the same time, he changed the flagship’s direction, illuminating the first-level red alert lights, and charged towards the direction indicated by the red line!

“Ah!”

Hearing the teammates’ exclamations over the channel, Chu Yan immediately looked towards the direction where they were located. He saw their small warship had been damaged in the power area by the Zergs, and he felt a surge of alarm. He rushed forward, but suddenly, a gray mecha darted out from the side, stabilizing the small warship just in time1clarity: the gray mecha isn’t Chu Yan. It’s one of the manually-piloted mecha soldiers, as all of them are colored the standard gray. Chu Yan’s mecha is silver-gray.

Chu Yan felt relieved and said quickly, “No. 9034, abandon your vessel and come to me.”

The rescued team member breathed a sigh of relief and quickly responded, swiftly donning protective gear and activating the protective shield. With the protection of their comrades, they boarded Chu Yan’s warship.

With the relentless waves of attacks from the Zergs, more and more soldiers on the battlefield began to get injured. Fan Xiangnan glanced at the overwhelmed warships, his brow furrowed. He ordered, “Everyone, assemble at the coordinates I’ve marked! Gather together to form the secondary defense formation, quickly!”

All of the members heard the command and reacted immediately. They gathered together toward the coordinates according to the formation they had practiced before.

Soon, all the soldiers in the field gathered together, the wounded soldiers were at the center, the mecha soldiers were at the outer periphery, the small warships were stationed at the rear, opening fire from afar.

They moved towards the Chu family’s central warship while they were fighting, trying to help the warship clean up part of the Zerg and find a chance to return to the ship.

“Damn it, are the soldiers of the Chu family all monsters? How can they still hold on like this?” Long Ruifeng couldn’t help but feel anxious again as he watched the situation being stabilized once more by the Chu family’s forces.

On the communication channel, Ning Tianya, who had already returned to the Ning family flagship, had a face as calm as water. He glanced at the Xiang and Wei family flagships, which were being harassed by the Zergs and could only focus on self-defense, and then at the warships that were trying to cooperate with the Chu family’s forces for a retreat, coordinated by He Hongjun. He pressed a special button beside him.

‘——It seems we must resort to drastic measures.’

“Hiss hiss hiss—”

A particularly eerie screech from the Zergs suddenly echoed out, and at the same time, the Zerg Queen, who had been lurking within the black hole, slowly extended its head outward.

“Fuck! The Zerg Queen is coming out!” Yuan Lie’s expression became more grim.

The Zerg Queen’s body was about two to three times the size of a normal warship. If it really emerged out, then all of the soldiers fighting over there would be killed!

“The Ning family and the Empire are so determined to kill us.” He Hongjun hummed coldly and said, “Lao Yuan, open the black box.”

Yuan Lie trembled at the words, glancing at the Imperial Royal flagship and the Ning and You families’ flagships completely avoided by the Zergs behind him. He knew this was the last resort they could take. With gritted teeth, he pressed the black box recording device.

If they could use their sacrifice to reveal the truth to the people, to ensure the safety of those in the rear, then all of this would be worth it. They only hoped that after this battle, the Federation could usher in true peace after eliminating the traitors.

Inside the command room, Zhuang Yu had collapsed to the ground, blankly staring at the continuous Zerg in the display screen, tears dripping continuously.

The Zerg Queen already breached halfway through, revealing its bloated and grotesque appearance. The neural wave suppression became stronger.

Except for the Imperial Royal flagship and the Ning and You families’ flagships, the ships from all other families aimed their cannons at the black hole from which the Zerg Queen was about to emerge. They ignored the attacks from the small Zergs, preparing for the final battle.

The soldiers gathered outside also activated their remaining personal protective shields, looking towards the emerging Zerg Queen, all holding their breaths.

They all knew that the final battle was finally coming.

Sitting calmly on their cushy flagships, Long Ruifeng and Ning Tianya both had triumphant smiles.
