The bright sun hung in the sky, ruthlessly, it hammered its heat on the citizenry of Mondstadt and caused many to take shade from the dreadful temperature. A wind blew, coursing through numerous people's hairs and hides, causing them to sigh in comfort, but it did not take note of them.

It continued through Mondstadt and brushed past a house that was two stories tall, flickering the curtains and causing the sweltering heat to invade the room. Inside the room was a young girl.

Her eyebrows crinkled and she blew out a mist of silver, but if one looked closer they could see hints of blue and black within. Her eyelids trembled, caught in elevation toward their host's desires to reveal two bright blue orbs that held a hint of green within.

The girl shook her head allowing her raven hair to rest on her shoulders, her white dress contrasting into a beautiful scene.

"So, today is the day," Emmy said. Her fingers lay on her lips as she thought about something that would happen today.

[Indeed. The Host will train her friends in the art of Energy. If need be the system will assist. No need to be shy.]

"I am not shy," Emmy said, she began to tie her hair into a low ponytail before she stopped, "I'll ask for help if I require it. Hmm, this hairstyle is a bit too... convoluted? Anyway, I don't like it, I'll keep the short bob for now."

The girl patted her hair at the sides for a while and then nodded, satisfied with the bare minimum of work she just did in a failed attempt of trying a new hairstyle. This didn't bother her at all, she got off the chair and grabbed her bag before she began her journey to the adventurers guild.

She had just gotten outside when she got jumped by her blonde cutie of a friend, the force nearly sent them both onto the ground but Emmy held them up with practiced ease after she regain her balance, a testament to the number of times she had to do this one activity.

She didn't hate it though, she realized. Her friend was soft and warm, she was perfect for her to cuddle.

"Emmy," The girl's eyes sparkled, her face in Emmy's neck due to their height difference, her hair rubbed fondly against her chin, "How are you? Did you eat already?"

"Nope!"

"Hah~," Fischl got off her chest, looked at her, and sighed as if she was in misery about something. The girl held up a basket Emmy hadn't noticed she had earlier, but she didn't even notice when Fischl jumped into her arms, so to miss such a thing was practically a given.

"I made all of us some lunch and thankfully unlike a certain someone," Emmy avoided her stare and the girl huffed, "I made extra for all of us. Since all of you are pigs who like food and eat triple the size of your stomachs."

Emmy felt a bit weird today as if she was missing something. She looked at Fischl closely as her mind wandered on the last 5 minutes of conversation and then she came up with an answer.

"Fischl, what happened to the way you talked?"

The girl blinked, obviously not one to expect such a question directed her way and then she flushed, her eyes darted around nervously and she brought up the large basket to her face. Emmy chuckled at her friend's expense.

"After I spent all that time honing my Fischl speech too, it's a shame that Amy doesn't use it anymore," Emmy said, a grin on her face as she leaned forward.

"I-, Hmph! For what shall I the Prinzessin respond to your tricks oh familiar friend,"

And she was back.

"Well now that our dear lady has resurrected, may we be off?"

"Certainly," Fischl said, a nod and a hand grasped later, the two girls headed toward the adventurers guild.

All the while Emmy thought of what happened a few days ago prompted by the sudden ich she felt on her neck and she adjusted the dress upwards as if to hide something from the world.

[It has passed Host.]

"Huk-," Emmy coughed and wiped the blood off her mouth as the system began to clean the room of all scents and liquids that would suggest that a young girl was tortured by her own body.

As for what Emmy had to say about some interdimensional torture device?

"This is pretty tame. My imagination conjured up way more terrifying possible outcomes for this first phase, but maybe it's because it might be the first among many others to come that it is so tame."

[The Host is taking this quite nicely.]

"I mean I predicted this a long time ago so I did have time to at least give myself some sort of mental boost to endure, your suggestive speech also confirmed my theories, and if you haven't noticed, which you probably have. I used some energy to heal myself and boost my physical prowess before I was hit with the pain."

[Even so, it should not have been possible to endure such pain at your age.]

"Ah, that couldn't count as much pain once I prepared for it. I was ready and I already endured much worse."

[Worse?]

"Check for yourself. With your ability, you should be able to see my memories or something similar right? But don't go too deep yeah?"

[Checking Mental Data Banks of User Emmy Edgar...]

[Data Bank: Kidnapping Incident Found. Date: 3 years ago.]

[Scanning...]

'That's quick! Even I have to take some time to find it and it's my memories!' Emmy thought, slightly more knowledgeable of the system's capabilities. Maybe, it wasn't lying when it said it was Nigh-Omnipotent.

[Host...]

The system spoke once more and what seemed to be the machine equivalent of sadness came through its screen and into her mind. Emmy shook her head, for one it was to bar any questions or words the system would say to her and another was to shake off the thought that might come to her about that incident.

It was the day Emmy completely lost faith in the so-called gods who ruled this world and the day she no longer saw her fellow man as something to interact with but something to be crushed or avoided.

Emmy giggled even as her body stiffened and tears glistened through the cracks of her closed eyes but she did not allow them to fall. She seldom did, for it would only remind her of the hopelessness she felt on that day along with the sensation of her drifting emotions.

"I'll be fine, don't I have Fischl and the boys now? Their my friends, they always will whether they like it or..." Emmy chuckled her eyes swirled with deep darkness, blue and black marched into a hurricane of eldrich sentiment, "Not."

*****

[The Host is quite a frightening child.]

'You jest,' Emmy's cheeks flushed and the heat felt unbearable as her friend stared at them in confusion, causing them to glow with more intensity.

[The System is truthful.]
