Chapter 1073 Impressing

The auctioneer cleared his throat, stepping forward as the bidding came to an end. The hall was a whirl of emotions, from awe to excitement, from disbelief to triumph.

"Ladies and gentlemen," he began, his voice commanding attention, "I must express my deepest gratitude for your enthusiastic participation in this session of Astra Arcane. Your bids have painted a vibrant tapestry of desire and passion, each stroke adding to the allure of the arcane we have unveiled."

He paused, allowing the words to settle before continuing. "However, a word of caution: once the gavel falls, the responsibility for the item, its fate, and its secrets lie with its new possessor. Astra Arcane cannot offer protection or guarantee beyond these halls. What you purchase, you possess fully, for better or for worse."

He gestured towards the descending curtain. "As we conclude this session, I remind you to consider your actions wisely. The world beyond these walls can be unforgiving, especially when the shadows of the arcane dance upon it."

With that, he offered a final bow, the velvet curtain descending to shroud the stage and its mysteries once more. The hall erupted into conversations, the anticipation and intensity of the auction still lingering in the air.

Wolfric, feeling the weight of the situation, leaned closer to Lyon, a sense of urgency in his eyes. "I understand your desire for the tome, Emperor Lyon. But Princess Yala, she's not to be trifled with. Offending her could be a severe drawback to our purpose here."

Lyon, resolute and unyielding, stared at the descending curtain where the tome now lay, his jaw set firmly. "Wolfric, I cannot afford to let this opportunity slip away. The secret within that book is crucial to Maria's whereabouts. I must obtain it."

He glanced at his companions, their faces a mix of concern and determination. Karina and Kesya nodded in agreement, recognizing the gravity of the situation. Selena and Cecile exchanged glances, ready for whatever may come.

Witnessing Lyon's unyielding resolve, Wolfric and Leopold exchanged a solemn glance. They understood the depth of Lyon's determination, and they also comprehended the precarious nature of their involvement. As monarchs of their respective realms, they bore burdens and responsibilities that restrained them from delving further into the intricate web of Hell's politics.

Silently acknowledging this, they sighed, a mixture of admiration and worry in their expressions. Leopold spoke first, his voice tinged with regret, "We cannot risk our kingdoms by getting entangled in this perilous pursuit, no matter how noble the cause. We must remain cautious and focused on our responsibilities as rulers."

Wolfric added, his tone heavy with the weight of their limitations, "Emperor Lyon, our hearts are with you, and we will aid you in any way that doesn't jeopardize our realms. But this, this path is one we cannot tread upon."

Lyon, though understanding, felt a pang of isolation at that moment. He nodded, appreciating their honesty and dedication to their realms. "Thank you, both of you. I understand. We'll proceed from here with our own strength and conviction."

As they exited the room together and descended to the ground floor, Lyon quickly found the tome he was looking for.

Amidst the crowd, their eyes met Princess Yala, a figure shrouded in an air of mystery. She donned a beautifully crafted mask that concealed the upper part of her face, leaving only her enigmatic eyes and the lower half exposed. The mask added an aura of allure to her demeanor, making her seem like a masked phantom, an enchanter of sorts.

Yala, a lady of regal grace and intellect, held the ancient tome tenderly, cradling it to her chest like a cherished secret. The book was securely clasped in her hands, her possessive grip a testament to the value she placed upon it. Lyon noticed the way she regarded the tome, akin to a bibliophile caressing a rare manuscript, and a flicker of admiration for her passion touched his thoughts.

As Lyon and his group made their way through the throng of buyers, the other attendees, recognizing the distinguished figures of Wolfric and Leopold, willingly made space for them. An unspoken acknowledgment of the status and prestige these two kings held in the infernal domains.

The atmosphere crackled with curiosity as Yala met Lyon's gaze once again, a silent invitation to engage in discourse amidst this maze of secrets. The buyers and cultivators surrounding her could sense the undercurrents of significance in this encounter as if the very fabric of destiny had woven them into a unique tapestry within the confines of the Astra Arcane auction.

"Ah, esteemed friends," Yala began in a tone that conveyed both warmth and a touch of playfulness. "How delightful to see you here. I trust the auction piqued your interest?"

The two kings greeted Princess Yala with the appropriate respect and courtesy befitting her status. However, as the conversation unfolded, Yala's eyes, as sharp as a hawk's, quickly revealed her true interest. It wasn't in monarchs or diplomacy; it was in Lyon.

"The fight is far from over," Lyon declared, his voice steady and resolute. "I will have that tome."

Yala couldn't help but be amused by Lyon's tenacity. It was a trait she could appreciate, even if it meant competing for the same prize. She smiled, her eyes glittering with intrigue.

As Lyon stood beside Princess Yala, the individuals in the crowd began to engage in subtle competition to impress her.

One of them, a tall and muscular man, flexed his muscles and said with a confident grin, "Princess, if you ever need protection, you can count on me. I'm known for my strength and valor."

A young woman with a graceful demeanor stepped forward and curtsied, saying, "Your Highness, I am skilled in various arts, from music to dance. Should you ever desire entertainment, please think of me."

Another man, who seemed quite wealthy, chimed in, "Princess Yala, my resources are at your disposal. If you require anything, whether it's rare treasures or protections, I can provide them."

Their attempts to impress the princess continued, each person trying to outdo the other in a bid to win her favor.

Sensing the atmosphere becoming increasingly competitive and potentially volatile, both King Wolfric and King Leopold tactfully excused themselves from the brewing contest for the princess's favor. They exchanged knowing glances, silently acknowledging that this was not the place for a diplomatic struggle.

With polite nods and courteous words, they made their way out of the crowd, steering clear of the escalating scene. They retreated to a quieter corner of the grand hall, watching as the ambitious individuals vied for Princess Yala's attention, hoping to make an impression that would last. Meanwhile, Lyon was as nonchalant as ever.

Princess Yala took notice of his bearing. His eyes were set on the stone on the tome she cradled. A sight that was rare to see. Whilst others cater to give the best impression there was, he was not. However, she let out an amused smile and let these individuals step forward whilst posing an aggressive stand toward Lyon.
