A good night's sleep is an impermissible luxury for Kyon. That's why he yawning tiredly and went to continue what he had begun. Despite the incident with Anna, he was in a good mood. That night he finally managed to master four elements. Now he is a rightful bender of pure energy, ether, darkness, and light! Even if they are only of the basic grade... In Rosarrio, people like him are called great geniuses. Now it's no big deal to gain the respect of the Stones. He just needed to find out what those elements were like.

His main goal didn't change. Kyon wanted to be officially acknowledged as an important person in the Stone family, to get a high rank and power over the rest. And, of course, he wanted to gain the trust of important people... The right connections opened any door for him, make it easier to get to the top of the world, which is a matter of course for him.

He was going to prove himself to the strongest young people of the Stones during the traditional fights at the party. Unfortunately for him, all other members of different families were going to be present as well. So, he had to get as strong and powerful as could be in minimum time.

The issue with the foundation, i.e. the unique body, had become urgent. In addition to unique features, the cultivated body significantly increases the development ceiling. The better the body ("E" "D" "C" "B" "A" "S"), the further and faster you can develop on the path of perfecting the soul.

It struck the guy as strange that in the treasury there were no recipes for a unique body, no medicine for it, no techniques, secret knowledge, secrets of family formations, no money and animal keys, either... There were only objects with formations inside. What a lame treasury!

He took the sound transmitter but then decided not to wake Juno who was peacefully sleeping. He put it aside, he'd better do the desired experiments with darkness and light. He had never used them before. Will these elements help him to become stronger? What are their unique features? How does a spatial attribute work? Kyon, of course, read books about it but it was so tempting to see it all with his own eyes and check how it all worked with his own keys.

The boy decided to start with the element of darkness. He released it into his hand. Black fog appeared in the center of his palm. When he looked at it, he got ill-disposed and bitter, he felt sullen, everything irritated him. The element clearly influenced his mind in an unknown way. The guy supposed that darkness emanated some invisible waves which affected the soul that in its turn guided the mind and body.

The swirling black fog didn't harm his skin and flesh. Kyon remembered that any released energy had the same frequency as the owner, so it had almost no effect on the body. For example, if you release heat, the insides do not turn to ashes. If you use darkness, the organs don't rot. And when releasing ether, the current flows through the body without harming the organism.

The guy wrapped his whole hand in a black fog. He waved it delivering blows to the void. His swings left a beautiful dark veil which was dangerous to inhale as it tempted to an eternal sleep... And let time gobble up your flesh and take it into oblivion.

{How depressing...} - An evil smile appeared on Kyon's face. If it has such an effect on him, what will it do to the enemies?

He caught an unsuspecting bug crawling up the wall. As the fog touched the insect's armored body, it trembled. In a flash, the carapace and legs became liquid, fell apart, decomposing at once and turning into homogenous yellowish liquid. Just a fraction of the moment and the bug died a terrible death.

The guy was delighted. The element of darkness was terrifying! He knew, though, the better the enemy and their bodies were developed, the harder it was for energy to get inside. Consequently, the result might be less effective. But still…

Kyon got rid of unnecessary thoughts and continued experiments. He infused darkness into a stone and tapped on it. The stone crumbled into crumbs. His knowledge from books was confirmed: darkness was good against flesh and physical objects as well. It reduced their endurance.

The guy wondered what would happen if he infused darkness into a weapon? Would it become as fragile?

{No, it won't ...} - The answer was obvious. The point is that inside the handle of any weapon there is a formation that automatically tunes the metal to the same frequency as the soul of its bearer. Not a single element can deform or ruin it. The sword is a real part of the body and soul, that is, it exists in harmony with the energy of its owner.

Kyon grinned and drew a long sword, enchanted for strength. He grabbed the handle... And frowned. {Oh shit! I completely forgot...}

Unfortunately, the sword, or rather the formation in it, did not accept the new owner. The frequency of the weapon remained neutral, different from the frequency of the guy. The matter is that the formation belongs to the Stone family, and the sword has restrictions that prevent strangers from using it properly. Only the Stones of 2nd rank and above can use it.

The first thought that came to his mind - why not destroy the formation and impose his own - was ruthlessly rejected, because in this case the sword would be damaged from the inside and would be useless. There it was the protection of the inheritance. It makes no sense to steal personal weapons without knowing the "code" of the formation.

Kyon groaned in frustration and put the sword back into the ring. That problem had a solution but he couldn't deal with it right now.

He went on doing the experiments with the element of darkness. Kyon understood that he couldn't possibly infuse darkness into a sword for a whole minute to make a powerful blow that could cut or disintegrate a strong enemy (by analogy with pulling a crossbow).

The black fog keeps in the weapon just a bit more than a second. Then it dissipates in the wind and can't stay inside any longer. However, it would be nice to prepare an attack for a couple of minutes to kill a powerful enemy with one blow.

Kyon wondered. {As far as I know, there are two ways to partially solve the problem - either to have a higher grade of the element or to use a skillful technique...} - In both cases, the charge of the attack can last longer, respectively, the blow will be much more powerful. But the question is - what idiot would ever give time to cast a spell?

A couple of hours flew by while he was doing the experiments. In the meantime, Kyon found out some useful information: the flesh begins to rot in contact with darkness; a solid physical object becomes fragile and the liquid completely loses its properties. Everything useful becomes an ugly useless mass. For example, the tea turns into rat poison, milk turns dark and sour, a cookie crumbles into gray sand, fit for nothing and smelling of ammonia.

When he combined darkness with another element, for example, pure energy or ether, nothing special happened and he didn't notice any negative effects. However, it didn't mean anything, as his energy was of the same frequency, therefore, it couldn't negatively affect him.

The guy understood perfectly well that darkness could be mixed with his other elements, but for that, he needed to learn the appropriate techniques, which were a combination of darkness and energy, darkness, and ether, darkness, power and ether... It all came down to using a technique.

Thanks to the books he read, Kyon knew that darkness absorbs the ether barrier but he needed a sparring partner to check its efficiency.

He recalled the silhouette of a sweet little angel that had been tortured by the attribute of darkness.

Kyon took the stock of his experiments. The element of darkness harms almost everything it contacts with. Everything but its owner and his energy... It's sort of the element of death, which is the negative side of life. But if darkness also works on ordinary stones, then everything in this world shows vitality. And even a zero constant can go into negative... Damn the local illogical laws of physics!

The guy finished his experiments with darkness. He did not invent anything special except infusing the attribute into an attack. All of his grandiose plans to find an infinitely destructive element were in question. He needed a sparring partner to estimate the true power of the attribute.

He still had to experiment with the element of light and the mixture of the two elements which created space.

Kyon infused the attribute of light into his palm. Fog appeared on the surface, glowing with soft sunlight, sending waves of peace to the soul. It gave him a feeling that everything was wonderful. Deep inside rose an unselfish desire to bring kindness, care and joie de vivre to the world. It was the absolute opposite of darkness.

The guy found a small spider nearby, "squeezed" a little web and checked its strength. Then he infused the attribute into the arachnid.

The spider was not hurt at all, only... A thin white cobweb shot from its bottom in an indecent stream.
