Tang Moyu knew that she couldn't deal with these people on her own and she needed to create an opening for Mr. Jia to flee from the commotion. Although she was sure that the bodyguards they brought with them were capable, they were literally outnumbered.

She weighed her options and decided to ask Jia Yuntao to return to the van and drive away with the other staff members of the shelter. Because she needed to look out for the old man's safety, Tang Moyu was handicapped in this situation and could only take a defensive stance.

"Mr. Jia, do you think you could go back to the van while I distract some of them?" She whispered to the old man standing behind her. The four bodyguards were overwhelmed by the attacks coming from the other party and she knew her help would be needed soon.

It seemed that these men weren't just all bark. It was surprising that they were able to fight decently with the bodyguards she had with her.

"But Miss Moyu, I cannot leave you like this." Jia Yuntao didn't have the heart to let Tang Moyu use herself as a distraction for him to escape.

What kind of man would he be if he allowed a woman to protect him? He might be old, but he wasn't totally useless.

"Don't worry about me, Mr. Jia. I'm capable of protecting myself. It's best if you escape first and seek help. We will hold them here. Please go and call the authorities." The empress tried to explain.

Jia Yuntao felt guilty that even now, Tang Moyu was taking the lead to protect what mattered to him the most. The shelter was something he built five years ago when his debts were cleared, allowing him to start anew in life with a clean slate.

However, he also understood why Tang Moyu was doing all of this.

"Oh no, darling. No one's leaving until we get what we want." One of the men aimed a punch towards Jia Yuntao, but with Tang Moyu's quick reflexes, she was able to pull the old man away, making the other man stumble forward.

"You!" He sneered at Tang Moyu. "Just wait until I get my hands on you!"

"That is if you're capable of getting a hold of me." Tang Moyu mocked him in return. "Leave now." She told Jia Yuntao.

"I'll leave everything to you then." He told Tang Moyu and ran away. He should be able to contact the authorities as soon as he gets away from here.

"The fun starts now. This ends here." Tang Moyu said before avoiding the hands that were about to grab her. She couldn't understand why Jia Yuntao hadn't dealt with these thugs and refused to inform her about them.

The man tried to grab Tang Moyu again, but she ducked and got the guy in the jaw with the hardest punch she could manage. Tang Moyu winced as she felt pain in her hand. Since it had been a while since she got into a street fight, plus with her busy schedule, she knew that her body wasn't in the best condition to fight.

She then kicked the man on his chest, forcing him to back away from her. She glanced at her bodyguards and saw that they were having trouble keeping everyone at bay.

Tang Moyu contemplated if this was the best she could do for the shelter. They may be able to defend the shelter today, but who can assure that these thugs wouldn't return and harass Mr. Jia again? She took a look at the direction where the old man went and saw that he was nowhere to be seen anymore.

This moment of hesitation was an error on the empress's part, as she was caught off guard by the man in front of her, who managed to get a grip on her, slamming her back against the concrete wall behind her.

Tang Moyu hissed in pain, her head was momentarily dizzy from the assault she'd received from the larger man. He was unlike those men she had beaten before, as he was definitely more experienced in street fighting than she was.

It was then she felt hands strangling her neck, pushing her up on the wall until her feet barely touched the ground. Tang Moyu struggled to hold her hands, attempting to loosen the grip on her throat.

'Shit. I got distracted. I lowered my guard.' Tang Moyu could blame no one but herself. She knew better than to lower her defenses in front of her opponent. She couldn't believe that she commited a rookie mistake at a time like this.

The grip on her throat tightened and she could hear the gruff voice of the man, taunting her.

"Little girl, you should have run away with that useless old man when you got the chance. Who told you to playa heroine, huh? You overestimated yourself, woman!"

Tang Moyu could feel that her throat was about to be crushed from the vice grip the man had on her neck. Her eyes were starting to lose its focus and the first thought that came through her mind was Feng Tianyi and her little buns who were probably waiting for their return.

She had to resist and find a way to free herself. She cannot allow this to continue any longer. Was there something she could do?

"Madam!" One of her bodyguards called after her upon seeing her grave situation. He forced himself to move forward, sending punches and kicks left and right in order to make way towards Tang Moyu.

Just as she thought that she was about to lose her grip in reality. She heard a voice screaming towards them. It was followed by a hit of a wooden stick behind the man who was strangling her.

Tang Moyu flopped down the ground and coughed uncontrollably as her breathing heaved. She caught the sight of Jia Yuntao, along with the two bodyguards that were accompanying her husband.

Her eyes then shifted to her husband, who sent a punch towards the same man who was strangling her earlier, knocking him down to the ground. Tang Moyu shivered at the look Feng Tianyi had on his face. It was as if she was looking at a demon who had just woken up from his long slumber.

"Tianyi…." She was stunned in her place, shocked as she stared blankly at her husband, who was now pummeling the other man with his fists, his eyes red with murderous intent.

Jia Yuntao helped the empress back on her feet and dragged her away. By the look on her face, he could tell that Tang Moyu had never witnessed Feng Tianyi in this state. He wondered if he should take her away, to help her avoid seeing the bloodbath that was sure to follow.

A kick on the stomach coming from the devil made the other man cry in agony while Feng Tianyi only stared at him coldly with a wooden stick he picked up earlier in one hand.

Tang Moyu was rendered speechless at the sight of her husband's violent actions. She had known about his past as the devil, but her mind couldn't accept that the ruthless and vicious man that was beating the hell out of her opponent earlier was the same gentle and kind man she'd fallen in love with.
