Chapter 233 Benevolent or Evil?

Since when had Xiang Ning been this strong?! That was an explosive piece of news! To think that he could cause the beasts that were affected by Balamu to be frozen in fear—it was nothing compared to how he had chased them away last time!

Xiang Ning held the Devourer like a war god. No one could believe that a teenager like him could face countless beasts and still remain calm.

He slowly walked toward the minotaur. He didn’t really want to kill people, but he knew that if you were soft, you would be bullied. That was one of the first things he had learned as an orphan. While the world was indeed filled with good people, he still needed to take measures to ensure that no one would harm him or his sister. Only then would he manage to survive the bad environment he was living in.

“Sorry.” Whatever Xiang Ning was doing, whether it be good or bad, he couldn’t care less.

The minotaur looked up and a final tear rolled down its cheek as the sweet release of death greeted it.

The livestream abruptly ended.

Looking at the dead minotaur, Xiang Ning said nothing as he walked over to Balamu. He slowly climbed up to his head.

“In the eyes of humans, am I evil?” Balamu used the last of its strength to communicate.

Xiang Ning shook his head.

“Hoho, in human time, I’ve been here for sixty years, struggling to find a method to head back to my own planet. Unfortunately, I failed. She was right, I’ll die here. I’ve never killed anyone of my own volition throughout the past sixty years....” Balamu's voice grew faint.

Xiang Ning shook his head. He didn’t care about the meaning or its history. He only knew that as long as Balamu was alive, his home would be in danger. Xiang Ning was just one man. If it weren’t for Fang Rou wanting to rescue her brother, he wouldn’t be here either. This was life.

“Hoho, humans. You walk upon the path of extinction…” Balamu said as it closed its eyes for the last time.

Sensing the death of their master, the other beasts cried out in grief. It was as if they were sending him off, hoping his spirit would rest among the stars once again. Xiang Ning raised the Devourer and stabbed into its skull, revealing a silvery-white beast core. It was slightly different from those he had seen before, but Xiang Ning thought little of it. Different beasts, different cores, right?

“This is your second life. I don’t know who ‘she’ is, nor do I know where you came from, but you’ll continue on in the Devourer.” The black goo enveloped Balamu’s beast core as Xiang Ning struggled to control it. He slowly merged the two cores and felt the weapon growing stronger.

When the final bit of the beast core had been absorbed, the liquid gradually transformed from its original black color to a silvery white. There were even hints of purple. But Xiang Ning didn’t manage to see the end of the transformation. The moment he felt that the Devourer had stabilized, he immediately fainted.

Li Yunfei appeared by Xiang Ning’s side the moment he passed out. He instructed the rest of his men to transport Balamu’s body. Li Yunfei was extremely worried about Xiang Ning’s condition. Not only had he fainted, he had opened up four of his gates and his body was all skin and bones. Li Yunfei held his hand and checked his pulse; it was weak, but at least it wasn’t irregular.

He picked up the Devourer and carried Xiang Ning down from Balamu’s corpse. When he heard his men screaming, he turned around and saw that Balamu’s corpse was disintegrating into a black mist.

He ordered his men to retreat and took Xiang Ning away as fast as he could. He wasn’t sure whether that black mist was corrosive or not, but he wouldn’t take the chance.

Once everyone arrived back at their camp, he immediately ordered them to pack up and retreat. “Everyone get ready! We fall back now!”

Xiang Ning was placed on a stretcher and taken to the infirmary truck. Fang Hao was already sitting inside and sighed in relief when he saw Xiang Ning had returned. But when he saw how skinny Xiang Ning was, he almost cried out in fear. “Hey! Don’t die on me! How am I going to talk to my sister if you die?! She’ll hate me for life!” Fang Hao tried slapping Xiang Ning awake.

The nurse frowned. She was in the middle of inserting an IV into Xiang Ning and saw how rough Fang Hao was treating Xiang Ning, then slapped him. While she didn’t advocate violence, sometimes it was needed. Her slap was strong enough that even Fang Hao, a tier four martial artist, fell to the ground.

Because of the limited space, he was already crouching to make room for Xiang Ning. And now he had been sat on the floor due to the nurse. He was still holding his face and feeling all silly. When he came to his senses he wanted to shout at her, but decided against it when he saw how cute she was.

His anger was wiped clean.

“What the fuck are you looking at? Since you’re fine, go find the other nurse to help you! Get the fuck out now!” Apparently she had a spicy personality, too.

Fang Hao, the leader of an exploratory squad, a tier four martial artist, the future successor of the Thunder Dojo, and probably a tier seven martial artist in waiting, could only grab a bottle of anti-inflammatory medicine and walk out of the ambulance.

He suddenly returned and peeked inside the ambulance. “Uh, is he alright then?”

“Don’t know, now scram!”

“Alright, alright, I won’t bother you anymore.” Fang Hao felt like he had turned into a child again and walked away. Still, he remained nearby. He was truly worried about Xiang Ning.

After around a few minutes, the nurse walked out of the ambulance. She had intended to go and submit a report to Li Yunfei about Xiang Ning’s condition when she saw Fang Hao still holding the bottle of medicine at the side of the road. “Why’re you still standing here? Are you fucking lost?”

“Erm… that… wait, just listen to me…” Fang Hao stammered like an idiot.

“Argh, fine.... Just sit over there and I’ll come back to you. Don’t shout like an idiot anymore. And… I apologize for slapping you just now. It’s just that you were too noisy,” The nurse apologized.

Fang Hao was smitten.
