November 5, 3020. At three in the morning, Jiang Chengyan, who had emerged from the interrogation room, stretched his waist and moved his somewhat stiff neck. He then said, “Just let him go back after the statement is taken.”

Yao Min bumped Jiang Chengyan’s shoulder and grinned, “Captain, it’s true that not only did you set out a confession, you also made Jiang Cheng feel grateful. Truly worthy of being an old fox in our team!”

Jiang Chengyan chuckled humourlessly, “You wicked girl. How dare you talk to me like that? I’m only thirty years old, I’m not that old.”

Maybe he hadn’t thought of it before, but now he’s starting to be concerned about it. This might be the case when you start falling In love with someone. You begin to care about age, dress, and even what to say. He has to think about it again and again, for fear that what he said might be the wrong thing and would make the other party angry.

Thinking of this, Jiang Chengyan walked to the window and glanced at the store across. There were only a few lights flickering in the darkness. Ling Huaan must now be quietly sitting by the cashier listening to a song.

“Captain, we’ve known each other for a long time now.”

Yao Min’s voice suddenly sounded in his ears which frightened Jiang Chengyan. Catching her squinting gaze, he felt an inexplicable guilt, and his mouth hardened. Girl, what’s in your head all day long? Can’t you stop being presumptuous?”

Yao Min bristled and said with dissatisfaction, “How am I presumptuous? Captain, don’t tell me you don’t have that kind of intention for Brother Ling?”

“Intention? In what aspect? I don’t know what you’re talking about. If you have time, you’d better think about how to deal with that man and woman in the interrogation room.” Jiang Chengyan played dumb.

“Captain, that’s a raw topic shift.” Yao Min glanced at the direction where the grocery store was located and reminded, “Captain, don’t blame me for not reminding you that although brother Ling is blind, he has a model figure and a house. There are many people who like him, but he’s usually a little cold, so he dissuades most of them. But that doesn’t mean no one pursues him. If you are still so hesitant, Brother Ling will be someone else’s sooner or later. Or you can just wait until you regret it bah.”

Jiang Chengyan unconsciously thought  of Yan Yu. That man not only looked handsome, he also took good care of Ling Huaan. The most important thing was that he’s still young, just in his twenties.

“Girl, how do you want to be coaxed if someone makes you angry?”

“Captain, did you make Brother Ling angry?”

Jiang Chengyan’s face reddened as he uttered ambiguously, “I…well.”

Yao Min said with amusement, “No way, Captain, you’re quite capable, ah. Brother Ling is so indifferent, yet you can make him angry.”

“That was only an instinctive reaction on my part.” Jiang Chengyan was a little embarrassed, and then said with chagrin, “Why am I wasting words with you, little girl. It’s getting late. Let’s go and meet Yao Jiang.”

Inside the interrogation room No. 2, Yao Jiang sat calmly in his chair with his head hung low, making it impossible to see his face. But the tightly clenched fists revealed his current emotions. The door was pushed open with a creaking sound. Yao Jiang subconsciously raised his head, but soon hung down again.

Yao Jiang snapped his head up to look at Jiang Chengyan and said, “Are you looking down on me?”

Jiang Chengyan smiled and said, “Yao Jiang, since we were able to catch you at Jiang Cheng’s house, it means that we already have the truth, yet you’re planning to make up stories with us here. Who is looking down on whom between us?”

Yao Jiang looked stagnant. Struggling emotions surfaced beneath his eyes, and after a moment of silence, he said, “I killed him.”

Jiang Chengyan was stunned, then successively asked, “Who did you kill? What time and where?”

There would be a struggle before you open your mouth. But once you flap it open, your heart would fall to the ground instead. Yao Jiang took a deep breath and calmly confessed, “I killed Jiang Changping at 10:30 pm on the 22nd, in his car.”

“How did you kill him? What was the murder weapon?”

“I strangled him with the seat belt.”

“What about Jiang Changping’s head, where did you hide it?”

“I burned it, and then I threw the ashes into the river.”

Jiang Chengyan frowned slightly and said, “What was your motive?”

“Because he deserved to die.” Yao Jiang’s emotions became excited, his eyes full of hatred. “He’s obviously a fucking faggot, yet he still wants to steal my Qiu Ran. Even if he steals her, he still doesn’t know how to cherish her and actually raised a man outside. Doesn’t such a slag deserve to die?”

“Even if he did something wrong, it’s not a reason for you to kill someone!” Jiang Chengyan’s eyes were deadly as he looked at Yao Jiang.

“So what if it wasn’t, he was still killed by me, and is still dead.” An almost morbid smile surfaced on Yao Jiang’s face and he said, “Do you know why beheading is usually the death penalty for ancient people?”

Jiang Chengyan grimaced at Yao Jiang, and had no intention of answering.

“Because people who die without a whole body can’t be reincarnated after death, they can only be a wandering ghost for the rest of their lives. Hahahaha…” Yao Jiang laughed triumphantly a few times and suddenly said with a grimace, “Such a kind of death is the only way to relieve hatred.”

Jiang Chengyan was silent for a while. His brow relaxed, and then asked, “How did you know Jiang Changping’s whereabouts? Did Li Qiuran tell you?”

“No!” Yao Jiang subconsciously denied it and said, “This matter has nothing to do with her. I’ve been following Jiang Changping, that’s why I know his whereabouts.”

“You’ve been following him? Do you know what Jiang Changping did on the 22nd? ”

Yao Jiang was momentarily stunned, then his face quickly returned to normal. “I don’t remember.”

“Where was the first crime scene?”

“In the park diagonally opposite Heping district.”

“How did you become familiar with Jiang Changping?”

“In the bar. In order to track and watch him, I used to work in the Bolang bar where he often goes.”

“On what grounds did you approach him so that he let you get into the car in the middle of the night unsuspectingly?”

Yao Jiang’s eyes rolled rapidly, obviously thinking hard, and answered, “When I worked in the bar, we became friends. I said I was in a bad mood and that I wanted to chat with him. Then I made an appointment in the park opposite Heping district.”

“What did you use to get in touch with him? Mobile phone, VX, or other contact details?”

“VX, but the chats were all deleted by me.”

“It doesn’t matter, VX chat records can be recovered even if they were deleted. What’s your account number?”

“I used permanent deletion. It can’t be recovered!”

“You just need to name your account number. As for whether it can be recovered, that’s our problem.”

Yao Jiang became agitated and shouted, “Are you guys done with this or not? I’ve already admitted that I’m the murderer, why do you keep asking questions?”

“Because we are police. It is our responsibility to safeguard the dignity of the law, find out the truth and give justice to the dead. Yao Jiang, the truth will never be buried. It’s not your call.”

“The truth is that I killed Jiang Changping, separated his body and threw it in the trash can near Xinmin district. That’s all I have to say.”

Jiang Chengyan took out his phone and opened the gallery, found the photos sent by Jiang Cheng, walked to Yao Jiang’s side, and said, “This picture was what instigated you to kill Jiang Cheng.”

Yao Jiang unconsciously glanced at the photo, but quickly hung his head and did not say anything.

“The photo was taken on the evening of the 23rd. Although the distance isn’t close, fortunately, the pixels are clear enough to see the characters on it. One is you, the other is Li Qiuran.” Jiang Chengyan paused for a moment and then said, “I think you should be familiar with this thing she gave you bah. Although the object isn’t big, it can be seen clearly that it’s a car key. I want to ask, since it was you who killed Jiang Changping, why do you still need to ask Li Qiuran for the car key?”

“Because I accidentally lost my car keys.”

Jiang Chengyan laughed and said, “Sure enough, this key is the key to Jiang Changping’s car.”

Yao Jiang was bewildered, and then said with an ugly face, “You swindled me!”

Jiang Chengyan half-lied, “There’s no need to regret it. Although I did use some practical means just now, I just knew the result in advance. After all, our police department’s technical department isn’t a vegetarian. As long as the picture is enlarged, it’s easy to know who this key belongs to.”

Yao Jiang gazed at Jiang Chengyan with indignation and fell silent again.

“Since Li Qiuran was willing to give you the car keys, that would show that she at least knows about it, right?” Seeing that Yao Jiang had no intention of answering, Jiang Chengyan smiled carelessly and said, “It doesn’t matter if you don’t answer. I already know what the truth is. Although there is no direct evidence, a complete chain of proof has been formed, so even if there is no confession, we can still convict her.”

“It was me who killed him.Iit has nothing to do with her, don’t you accuse her wrongly!” Yao Jiang shouted angrily, with an almost humble pleading in his tone.

Jiang Chengyan sighed and said, “Let’s go, there’s no need to ask anymore.”

Yao Min glanced at Yao Jiang and got up close behind. The two left the interrogation room amidst Yao Jiang’s screaming.

Outside the door, Yao Min asked in a whisper, “Captain, what are you playing at again?”

“What other ideas do I have to come up with?” Jiang Chengyan forced a bitter smile, “Can’t you see that he has already made up his mind to take the blame for Li Qiuran?”

“Then what else can we do? We don’t have direct evidence. Now Yao Jiang keeps pratting about how he killed the man. As long as Li Qiuran holds out and doesn’t say anything, we can only let that person go.”

“What to do? I want to know what to do, too.”

Yao Min couldn’t help but say emotionally, “Although I don’t agree with Yao Jiang’s approach, I have to admit that Yao Jiang really loves Li Qiuran so much that he can even plead guilty to homicide for her.”

Jiang Chengyan raised an eyebrow at her words and said, “What, envious?”

Yao Min nodded honestly and said, “Envious. If a man were to die for me, I’d be moved to tears.”

“If loving someone has to be humbled down to the dirt, I’d rather not love.”

Inside the grocery store, Ling Huaan was listening to a song when the bell attached on the door suddenly rang and Wang Lei entered through. He came to Ling Huaan’s side and said with a smile, “Boss, I’m here.”

Ling Huaan glanced at the direction of the police station and asked, “Well? Have they reached a final conclusion over there yet?”

Wang Lei truthfully recounted what happened in the police station and said, “Listening to that fool… Ahem, listening to Jiang dui’s voice, he’s now also at a loss.”

Without waiting for Ling Huaan’s response, Jiang Changping’s cold, eerie voice suddenly rang in his ears.
