Chapter 285: Magnus, the real brother.

Dumbledore had found Magnus and they were returning to Hogsmeade. It was told to everyone via Dumbledore's Patronus. So all those involved in the search were told to return to regroup and treat their injuries.
"You really taught Lucius a very good lesson." Ragnar praised the dejected Severus. But Severus didn't even say anything as his mind was just thinking about his mother. He was happy that Magnus was safe, at least he was able to help by stopping Lucius.
Tired and depressed, he returned to Hogsmeade with Ragnar. He just wanted to go to his dorm room and fall asleep right now, as the more he stayed up the more he thought about what would happen to his mother now.
"SEV!"
~I should go sleep, her voice is echoing in my mind.~ he muttered to himself.
"SEVERUS!"
This time the voice felt too real. He lifted his head and looked in the direction of the sound. His body immediately froze that instant.
"M...Mum?" He exclaimed, emotions taking over his body like a tsunami, he ran to her at full speed.
Not knowing if this was real or just the fragmentation of his imagination, he hugged her. And she was indeed real. A drop of tears fell from his eyes on Eileen's shoulder.
"How... how are you? Did they do anything to you?" he hastily asked her.
She caressed his face, "I was helped by Mr Adrian here, he attacked the place I was held and helped me escape."
Adrian? Severus knew this man, he looked at the man standing not far from him and Eileen, "How?"
Adrian solemnly explained everything, "You should thank His Majesty for this. He learned about what had happened to you and secretly worked to find Miss Eileen's location. Then the moment he was attacked here he ordered me to go and save her.
"It was very hard to pinpoint her location but we did find her in a jungle in Albania in the end."
Severus was appalled, realising that Magnus had knowingly entered the fight just so his mother could be saved. His eyes reddened knowing this, "Since... when did he know about this?"
"It's been a while now, I think a month and a half. That was when he told me about starting this investigation. We had to keep everything a secret to make sure they didn't learn about us sniffing around.
"His Majesty must have used legilimency on you. He was able to pinpoint the location with the help of the time of the day and the position of the moon and the stars in your memory. But it took a lot of work and brainstorming." Adrian explained in detail.
Ragnar knew about what was going on with Severus, but Magnus had not even told him about reading Severus' mind and what happened to his mother. But he was not angry, he knew that Magnus must have had his reasons.
Slughorn was new to this, "What exactly happened?"
Eileen explained as she was in a much better state than Severus, "I was kidnapped by Voldemort, professor. He threatened Severus to spy on Magnus until they attack and kill him. Sev couldn't say anything to anyone because of the dark mark they placed on him which lets Voldemort spy on him."
Slughorn was shocked, right under his nose one of his students was facing such misfortune, it was his failure as the teacher. "And... Magnus knew about his attack?"
Severus silently muttered, "Yes... he knew..."
"EVERYONE! THEY'RE BACK!" just then someone shouted. They all looked and found Magnus and Dumbledore walking towards them. It took them so long to arrive here for some reason. But Magnus seemed to be walking by himself, albeit being soaked in blood and riddled with injuries.

Magnus didn't allow Dumbledore to apparate him away. The reason was that he wanted some time to think about his next actions, and the calmness of the jungle helped him a lot.
He was trying to understand, that finally now that Voldemort had attacked him with his whole army, it's an act of war against the United Kingdom Itself, at least the magical side of it.
Attacking a royal means treason, and the punishment for treason was death, both here and in the muggle world. So slowly Magnus came to a decision that he would announce in the emergency Wizengamoth session. Anybody who would go against him would now be deemed a supporter of Voldemort publicly and then dealt with.
~I was too easy on them, it seems.~ he thought and continued to walk. Eventually, they came out of the forest and arrived at the location everyone had gathered. He was very tired, but he couldn't sit down just yet as he needed to confirm just one more thing.
And finally, he did. He saw Eileen Prince standing beside Severus, this meant his plan was successful. Suddenly weakness washed over his body and he fell to his knees with a smile. Severus was the first to come to him and likewise fell on his kneel, he gave him a tight brotherly hug.
"THANK YOU, MAGNUS... I will never be able to repay you... thank you." he talked fast and full of emotions, something he had not shown since the start of the school year.
Magnus smiled and patted his back tiredly, "Haha... did you forget what I said in the letter that time? 'We're brothers, I got your back'. And as a good brother, it was my duty to help you when in need." [A/N: He said this in Chapter 100.]
Severus' mind overcame with emotions and a small tear slid down his face onto Magnus' shoulder. ~What brothers? Not even real brothers put their lives at risk for one another~ he thought.
"When?... when did you look in my head?" Severus asked him.
Magnus chuckled, "People don't fall unconscious after being hit by a stunning charm, Sev."
Severus had a moment of realisation. He remembered the day he sparred with Magnus and fell unconscious after being hit. It was a very bizarre event that even he couldn't explain.
"No wonder I don't remember feeling you inside me," Severus muttered.
*BAM*
Magnus knocked on his back jokingly, "What the hell man, think before you say something... ugh... that was so inappropriate."
Severus fell into silence for a moment, calming himself. He was extremely grateful to him. "Thank you, my brother."
Magnus faced the sky and thought about everything that happened. He felt a sense of regret. So he addressed it. [Image]
"I should apologise to you, Sev. My short sightedness resulted in this. I should have given your mother security. I promise that anything like this will not happen ever again." Magnus apologised. This was a big regret in his heart since he found out about Severus' situation.
Severus shook his head, "No, I'm equally responsible. I didn't anticipate this and let my mother live in danger."
Magnus sighed and muttered in a low voice, "We're all dumbasses. Too inexperienced to fight a war. Heh... Funny enough, I'm not eligible to vote but it's okay to fight. It's a strange world we live in. We gotta... Plan our next steps. But first... Sleep..."
Severus nodded, "Yeah, you're right, Magnus."

Severus suddenly felt Magnus's head going limp on his shoulder. Scared that something happened, he got out of the hug and looked at his face. [Image]

He calmed down, seeing he was just sleeping. Severus gritted his teeth, "You've become too strong Magnus, how can we even dream of reaching your level. How can we even help you?"
He called school staff and let them take Magnus to the Infirmary. There they'd put some blood replenishing potions in him. Ragnar would administer them himself.
With Magnus' return, the Battle came to an end. Now was the time to calculate the losses. The wizarding world was sure to be shocked in the morning when the newspapers will reach them with articles about today.
The various magical communities in the world will either show their anger at Voldemort or their mockery at the Ministry of Magic for being so useless. It was true after all, that in no other place in the world such crazy wizards come to power. It's always something happening in the British territory or in Europe.
Dumbledore, along with other Order members, searched the Hogsmeade village to find anyone injured or dead.
It was reasonable to say that they didn't fight this battle unscathed. But the actual number of fatalities would only be known later.

Many apparitions came and people stood in their places. Voldemort was at the forefront with a happy smile. Behind him stood his loyal followers.
It took a few minutes for everyone to arrive there. However, when Voldemort tried to see who the survivors were, his face contorted as his most loyal Death Eaters was missing.
He faced Bellatrix and screeched, "WHERE IS RODOLPHUS?!"
