January came and with that many changes to the world happened. For starters, a strange letter came to Magnus' house, it was directed to Adam. Opening it he found a logo of a colourful apple and with that was a letter and certificate of ownership of 10% stocks in Apple.
This was the time when Adam remembered the man he helped a long time ago by giving him money to set up his own company. Well, he just put the letter in his locker and forgot about it, for he had made a crazy nice discovery about space. There were rings around Uranus. When he published his findings, a lot of researchers checked and did find it to be true.
Other than this, Grace and Adam came together to design life-saving machines, they invented the high tech machine for angiography, one that showed things much clearer and in detail. Making it easier for doctors to perform and decreasing any risk of infections.
Magnus' companies were booming, FutureTek was releasing computers every year, they made their great processors and only included them in their own computers because they were too strong and needed special hardware that other companies didn't provide in their computers.
The major point, however, for the company was how they were developing technology for their eventual space mission. The British Government was supportive of this development and made necessary laws to help boost private space companies. Who were they to stop some rich guy from spending money on tech?
Slowly, the business environment in the UK became better and better, selective immigration also started, taking the best talents from around the world and giving them the chance to either study, do research or start a business.
Not only that, Magnus knew the pain of getting your invention patented, it was a costly process because each country had their own patent laws and registry. Hence, if one wanted to really patent something they would have to file for patents in various countries.
For this, Magnus forced a solution, as the United Nations was his bitch already, he made them pass a thing called Unified Patent Portal. Most of the countries around the world signed into it. With this, a mega patent library was made with all patents from around the world in it. After that, the United Nations Patents Portal would become the world's biggest patent managing company. This would decrease the cost of patenting to the extreme.
At the start of January 1977, the Silicon Valley of the UK, Plymouth city, now called Cybercity, was completed. 60 per cent owned by FutureTek Industries and 40 per cent owned by the government. The place was made to be the safest with the best public transport and security systems. Companies flocked there to open their offices or small research and development departments. Most of it was related to computers, however.
For any other kind of innovation and development, there were various cities around the country. Zimbabwe was the biggest place for any kind of manufacturing right now due to other mineral-rich African countries being nearby.
This year, the GDP of the UK was supposed to be 355 Billion USD(In reality it was 263). However, at the same time, the US would just touch 2 trillion, further widening the gap between the two.
Magnus knew that if the UK wanted to get out of the American influence then it needed to get richer and better, but that would take time.
And it was now that he realised that he should not have killed the New York Mafia or even asked the Americans for help. He lost the chance to set up a puppet US president.
Because of the eradication of Communism from a few Asian countries, along with it the reunification of Korea, US President Gerald Ford was able to secure another term. [A/N: This is where history diverges.]
Gerald Ford was not a popular president, but thanks to Magnus' actions akin to dropping an axe on his own foot, Gerald won. But Magnus was going to make sure not to help any such presidents from now on.

It was 15th January of 1977, Magnus' birthday was here and as always he threw a party. Now was the time for his next plan to make sure that Hogwarts never goes corrupt as it did before, especially the Slytherin house.
Right inside the school, he started putting a few paintings discreetly, these paintings were of old wizards but they were made so they could be connected to the outer world. Most were in the Slytherin house.
This was necessary as it would work as an early alarm system if any Slytherin student tried to tilt towards the dark side. From what Magnus understood, Slytherin was so full of purebloods because most pureblood kids have prior private coaching, and in these classes, they are mostly unrestricted, a pureblood family usually owns a lot of books, many of them are related to dark magic.
So slowly, the kid tries to expand through the knowledge, not to mention, until now, most pureblood families truly believed they were superior and were okay with dark magic.
This was changed now, ever since Magnus' purge of Wizengamot in 1973, most such families have tried to please him by renouncing their pledge to the dark lord and giving their dark magic-related books to the ministry. These books mostly included illegal ones.
Slowly time passed and Magnus found himself walking towards the Room of Requirement with Ragnar. They were discussing how to find other Horcruxes, as they hoped to end this whole Voldemort menace before leaving school.
"Man, I wish there was some way to just wave the wand and things would appear in front of you," Ragnar muttered.
"Actually, it might be possible, as long as you have enough magic to cover the entire planet under the magic blanket then you can accio anything from anywhere in the world." Magnus hypothesised.
"I hope you can get that strong someday. I wonder if Merlin could do something like this. Must have been dope, I could just swing my wand and say 'Playboy Magazine issue number 69' and it would come to my arms." Ragnar dreamily said.

Magnus hit him behind the head, "Can you ever not be horny?"
"Look who is calling me horny, one who practically slithers like snakes with Emma every night." Ragnar barked back.
At this, Magnus proudly replied, "At least I got someone to slither with, while you can only jerk off to your 2D photographs."
"Hey, I love those 2D girls, I salute their daring hearts, to appear naked in front of the world just for money," Ragnar defended.

While bickering, they entered, but as soon as they looked around, they froze, Ragnar cursed, "Where the hell did you bring us now?"
There was so much around, mostly broken furniture, rotting books, lots of potion bottles, boxes, canons, armours, swords and lots of magical items. Magnus exclaimed just then, "Fuck, look, in that cage, that skeleton has 5-legs!"
Magnus too had no bloody idea where he was, "Rag, either we found shit... or the greatest treasure in Hogwarts."

Out of nowhere a ball of wood slammed onto Ragnar's stomach, "Argh... motherf... who hit me?!"
"It's not who, it's what. Look, there are Winged catapults." Magnus pointed at the strange wooden things flying in the air. Strange how they had life in them even after probably being trapped there for too long.
"Let's look around, I am excited to see where we end up being. And if my guess is right, we'll probably hit the jackpot." Magnus moved in.
"What exactly are we looking for?" Ragnar asked him, still in pain.
