I couldn’t help a feeling of pity from filling me as the girl disappeared into the darkness of the Void Dungeon. She was a rather innocent girl, who fell prey to the jealousy and desires of powerful people that were used to taking what they wanted. Her only hope was that the Prince saved her… but now it was too late. He was blissfully unaware of the terrible fate that had fallen on the girl.

Still, after watching something like that happen, the desire to enact some divine punishment rose in me. I couldn’t just descend on the world and do as I pleased… but I could… ‘convince’ the world to do what I wanted.

It was rather simple. If there was likely to be a storm somewhere, it wouldn’t be an issue if I forced it to happen a day or two before. The world wouldn’t notice such a change, and the impact would be minimal—if not nonexistent. So, if… say… a lightning… happened to strike someone that was outside during a storm, then it would be seen as nothing more than a natural accident.

The Duke’s daughter was still some distance away from her home, as expected, since no noble lord wanted to have his home close to such a dangerous place. So… with a little bit of Godly intervention… The clouds that were supposed to be over their road the next day, suddenly shifted to be right on top of them, and with a flick of my will, rain started pouring down on them.

“What the—” one of the knights exclaimed as he looked at the sudden rain. “The sky was clear just a moment ago.”

“Ugh, hurry it up then. I don’t want to look like a wet dog for His Highness,” the Duke’s daughter said with annoyance from the window of the horse-pulled carriage.

“Yes, ma’am, we’ll be there shortly!” exclaimed the knight that had lost his sword.

They picked up the pace, despite that being a terrible idea during a storm—not that it mattered to me. Then, with a touch here, and a poke there… a bright blue-white lightning traveled from the clouds and made its way to the ground, right at the place where the Duke’s daughter was going.

“AAH—!” someone shouted, horses whined with their hooves up in the air, and a wet thud of something hitting the muddy ground was heard.

I had missed my target. The lightning hit the knight that lost his sword, burning the man inside the armor and leaving nothing but a lifeless body on the ground.

“No way…!” exclaimed the second knight as he looked incredulous at the dead man.

“What happened!?” shouted the Duke’s daughter, slightly opening the window from her carriage.

“M-my lady—He’s dead! Lightning struck him!” replied the knight pointing a finger at the corpse.

The Duke’s daughter looked at the body on the ground for a moment, she was amazed for a moment, but quickly realized that she was supposed to be at her home, so with a shake of her head, she commanded the remaining knight. “Nothing we can do about this. Leave him. I have better things to do.”

“But, my lady, he was the son of—”

“I don’t care. I’m the Duke’s daughter, and I’m much more important. Let his family know that he got struck by lightning if you want to, but right now, you’re supposed to take me home,” the young lady interrupted. “Now, move!”

“Yes!” exclaimed the remaining knight, and with quick movements, urged the horses to run once more.

I could try to strike them with another lightning, but just pushing this storm closer and forcing a lighting to strike where I wanted was more than I would prefer to do. The world hadn’t reacted to what I did but that didn’t mean that I could keep pushing it, so I just ignored them and let them go on their way. There will be other opportunities to do something to her.

I turned my attention to the Void Dungeon. It was such a pity for that girl. I wondered if she was already dead, if she was currently fighting for her life, or if she was just laying defeated on the ground, crying about the fate that she suffered. Something that I hadn’t considered, however, was that she might be having the time of her life beyond that veil, and everything in there was bliss and joy.

A rather laughable notion, since every World Dungeon was a place of death and combat.

Curiosity was getting the better of me the more I thought about it… and as I focused my attention on that black void, I wondered if there was a way to get in there and have a look without personally descending into the world…

Perhaps… I could just walk in there. Not with my Godly body, but with something else; something that carried my will. A small familiar, born from my power should do the trick. Maybe something like a dragon? No, that’s far too big and powerful, the world would notice right away what I’m doing, especially after the little storm I forced.

A humanoid might work… but those are far too complex for me to create one without the world noticing.

Maybe an ant. That’s something that the world wouldn’t care about, but that’s too small and weak to survive anywhere, especially in the insides of an unknown Void Dungeon…

How about… a cat? That seems small enough for the world to turn a blind eye, and it’s nimble enough to command it to my will. Yes, that would work.

I focused my powers in front of the Void Dungeon, thinking of the image of a proper cat. A dark fog gathered, first as if a cloud suddenly appeared, then more like a mist, and finally settling in something that looked like a shadow.

Said shadow coalesced into a small cat. Jet-black fur, small nimble legs, three tails that swayed from side to side all at different rhythms, and when it opened its eyes, a pair of bright red-irises glowed in the darkness that surrounded the Void Dungeon.

It didn’t look like a normal cat should look… but it didn’t matter, for it was going to be my vessel into the Void Dungeon, and nobody should be able to care about how it looked.

With my will injected into it, I got a feeling of the being that I created. It was rather strange seeing the world from such a small being, but moving around with it didn’t feel restrictive. It was fast, it was hard to see, and it was quiet. Perfect for exploration.

As I shifted my attention to the black veil of the Void Dungeon, I felt the world turn its attention to me. It seemed like even this tiny creation of mine was enough for it to take notice.

It was a rather strange feeling. It felt like the swaying trees were watching me; the ground under me was touching me with intentional curiosity; and as if the wind blowing around me was asking questions.

‘Who are you?’ It felt like it asked. ‘What are you doing?’

None of those words were ushered, and none of those things were actually happening, but for me, it felt like someone was doing all of that. But I didn’t have the means to answer the world in the same way without causing more trouble, so the best thing for me to do was to move on.

With a few quick steps, I jumped into the black veil of the Void Dungeon, and the world around me disappeared.

It was a rather strange feeling, since to force my way in, I had to focus my attention completely on the task at hand. The Void Dungeon was trying to repel me. However, try as it may, it has no chance against me, so with a bit of force, me in my cat form pushed right in, leaving behind the whispers of the world.

Now, a piece of my mind was inside this cat, and through it, I was going to explore this unknown place.

There was nothing to worry about the dangers inside. My real existence still remained outside, so if anything important needed my attention, I could just abandon this cat and shift my consciousness  outside as if I had never gone inside in the first place, and the cat would just remain dormant until I took control of it once more—that is, as long as it still had a form… If it was destroyed, I’d have to make another one, and whatever power I used would be lost, but it didn’t matter as it wasn’t as much anyway.

After a moment of complete darkness, I finally popped somewhere, and there, I took in the new ‘world’ around me.
