Chapter 100: Interview (2)

At that moment, the eager audience members raised their hands one after another.

"All right, the gentleman in the second row, fourth from the left," Susan pointed to one of them.

"I would like to ask you, Miss Angela, do your parents support or oppose you writing screenplays and acting in movies at such a young age?" The speaker was a calm, middle-aged Caucasian man.

"They neither support nor oppose it. It is all up to me. Of course, it's not without guidance. They always say they are behind me, ready to protect me from the storms if necessary. I love them!" Angela spoke sincerely, eliciting a touching response from everyone as they nodded in agreement.

"Truly heartwarming words. Your parents are very lucky indeed," Susan interjected appropriately, then turned her attention back to the audience. "All right, the girl in the front row, first seat from the right."

"Angela, I'm a big fan of the movies you've been in. I saw《The Parent Trap》and the recent《Hide and Seek.》I wanted to ask, are you going to stop acting in movies in the future because of your focus on screenwriting?" The speaker was a soft-spoken African-American girl who looked not much older than Angela.

"Thank you for your support. If there are suitable scripts, I will definitely accept roles," Angela replied with a smile, drawing laughter from the audience. Certainly, suitable scripts would never be in short supply.

"Next, the boy in the middle of the front row."

A slightly shy Caucasian boy, probably about fourteen or fifteen years old with a few freckles on his face, hesitated. After taking the microphone, he awkwardly scratched his head and finally said, "Angela, may I ask, will your future boyfriend be based on the characters you create?"

The entire audience was taken aback for a moment, followed by a burst of laughter that made both the boy and Angela blush. After a moment, Angela cleared her throat and said, "Um... not for now."

As the slightly disappointed boy sat back down, Susan continued the conversation smoothly, "All right, time is running out. Let's save the last question for our viewers at home."

Soon a call came in, a female voice on the line said, "Hello, Miss Susan, this is Theresa from San Francisco."

"Hello, Theresa. Do you have a question for Angela?"

"I would like to ask Miss Angela since she could create a script for Ms. Meg Ryan, why not create one tailored for Ms. Julia Roberts?"

"Oh, it seems Theresa is a fan of Ms. Julia Roberts," Susan chuckled and turned to Angela.

Angela grinned and scratched her cheek, then replied, "Is that right, Theresa? I mentioned earlier that I'm working on a script. Actually, that script is for Ms. Julia Roberts. I'm a big fan of her work as well. Although I can't reveal the plot right now, I can tell you that the title is《Runaway Bride》!"

"All right, thank you, Theresa from San Francisco," Susan turned her attention to the camera as the call ended. "Well then, today's《Face to Face》comes to a close. Our heartfelt thanks to Miss Angela Mason for joining us and making this evening so enjoyable. We'll be back next week at the same time!"

As the host's words ended, another round of applause rippled through the studio, marking the successful conclusion of the interview.

...

"Angie, are you really going to write a script for Julia Roberts?" Lily whispered next to her.

"I've already answered you eight times, Lily. Yes!" Angela sighed with a hint of exasperation.

"So why can't you tell us the plot?" Sally quickly interjected from the other side. "Are you afraid we'll give it away? Oh, don't worry, we definitely won't!"

"I don't believe you, Sally," Angela declared, "If you had come to me that day and asked me quietly instead of shouting in public, none of this would have happened."

"I didn't want to, I didn't know you didn't like people knowing you wrote screenplays," Sally said with a hint of resentment.

"And that's all the more reason why you should have come and asked me quietly!" Angela remained unmoved.

"All right, Angie, even if Sally is wrong, how long do you think you can keep it a secret? You're already in the papers, so it's only a matter of time before you're found out," Lily pulled no punches in revealing the truth.

Angela glared at Lily in mock annoyance and was about to retort when a soft, somewhat effeminate male voice interrupted, "Ladies, it's time for class. Could you please finish your work first? The paint is drying."

The three girls stuck their tongues out at each other, and Lily and Sally hurried back to their easels to continue painting. Angela also picked up her palette, mixed the paint, and turned to the man standing next to her.

He had a flat stubble and was about thirty years old, with a slight touch of effeminacy in his demeanor. He accompanied her with a smile and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Hugo. I don't think there will be another time."

"Oh, Angela, your painting is as good as ever. I don't think there's anything more I can teach you," Hugo didn't say much more, just looked at her work and sighed. Every time he sighed, Angela felt uncomfortable.

"I don't think so. I think everyone has something I can learn from." The girl forced a smile.

"You're always so modest," Hugo chuckled softly, then put a hand on the easel. After looking around for a moment, he cleared his throat and asked, "Angela, I hear you're writing a screenplay for Miss Julia Roberts?"

The girl looked at her art teacher in astonishment, her mouth slightly agape, as if she could not close it. It was only when Mr. Hugo cleared his throat again that she snapped out of her daze, waving her hand a little nervously before finally calming down, nodding and saying, "Yes, Mr. Hugo."

"If possible, could you reveal a tiny bit of the contents?" Hugo blinked and pressed his index finger and thumb together in a pinching motion. "Just a little bit!"

"Um... I'm sorry, Mr. Hugo... I only have a rough idea right now. I haven't even written an outline yet, so..." Angela spread her hands apologetically.

"Alright, that's too bad," Mr. Hugo sighed, smiled and pointed ahead before leaving.

Angela let out a sigh of relief. That Mr. Hugo was a fan of her gossipy Sister surprised her, considering his effeminate demeanor. His delicate gestures and elegant fingers had even led her to suspect that he might be gay. So having him around wasn't something she was used to. After all, her sense of masculinity remained strong. But now... wait, did Julia not have same-sex fans? This thought sent a sudden shiver down Angela's spine.

Well, best not to dwell on it.

Although her big Sister hadn't quite regained her former popularity, she still had a considerable fan base. Today, thanks to Susan's inquiry about her script, there were probably dozens of people who had approached her about it.

It was a satisfying moment, and when she remembered last night when her shamelessly enthusiastic uncle had called to praise her as soon as she got home, she felt a little irritated. If it hadn't been for the subsequent calls from her godfather Brian, her aunts and uncles, as well as Natalie, Jessica, Lindsay, and others, she would have given him a good scolding!

The time at school passed quickly. Except for sporadic breaks when she was swamped with questions about the news, her classmates showed considerable restraint. It was obvious that the school was trying to deal with the situation. Angela believed that her father must be upset about Monday's events, but that was not her main concern.

At least her friends around her were returning to normal after a few days of excitement. However, Vicky and her group of attractive girls continued to chat animatedly among themselves, though they no longer singled out Angela.

"Are you coming back with me today?" Angela inquired, somewhat surprised.

"Yes, I'm going to the beach for some outdoor fun with Clara and the others," Lily replied with an apologetic look on her face.

"I wish I could join you," Angela pouted, glancing at the reporters stationed outside the school. The media had retreated, leaving only the paparazzi behind.

"Then come with us," Lily suggested, glancing at the reporters outside. "We can just ignore them."

"Sorry, Lily, I have to take care of something at home," Angela sighed. David, the driver, had informed her that Mr. Sparrow was waiting for her at home. She could easily guess the topic of conversation.

"That's too bad. Well, you should get back then," Lily smiled and said.

Angela nodded, waved to Lily, and then got into the car to head home. With David's skilled driving and his familiarity with Los Angeles, they eventually managed to shake off the reporters and ensure Angela's safe return home.

"So, what companies are interested in this script?" After exchanging pleasantries with Jennifer and learning that her parents wouldn't be home for dinner again tonight, Angela delved into discussions with Jack Sparrow.

"Several movie companies have expressed interest. Warner and Disney are particularly keen because of your previous collaborations. Paramount is more cautious, given your ongoing involvement with the《Forrest Gump》adaptation. They have tentatively made initial contact. As for others like Universal, Columbia, and MGM, they're just rumors at this point.

"Well, should I be excited about this? The script is still in its early stages," Angela mused, tapping her chin in satisfaction.

"In fact, George mentioned that he would have called you already if he hadn't been concerned that it might be too abrupt after last night," Sparrow smiled, his hands outstretched.

"Thank God he didn't, or he would have been quite a nuisance!" Angela arched her eyebrows and then, after a moment's thought, added, "Here's the plan, Uncle Sparrow. Please answer them, and I'll try to have a script ready within a month. You can then make your decision after reviewing it."

Then she sighed, "Gosh, I still have to write songs for my debut album and work on the《Forrest Gump》movie. How did things get so hectic all of a sudden?"

"Should I turn down other movie and commercial offers?" Sparrow asked at this point.

"Absolutely," Angela replied promptly.

"Very well, but... I think you should take a look at this movie offer before you make a decision." Sparrow said, pulling a thick script, over a hundred pages long, out of his briefcase and placing it on the coffee table.

Angela looked slightly surprised. "What is this?"

"A project from Mr. Spielberg!"
