Chapter 19: Shameless Plagiarism! (1)

The vineyards of Napa Valley, renowned as one of the largest wine supply regions in the United States, undeniably possess breathtaking beauty. Riding a horse through the vineyards adds a unique flavor to the experience, which is greatly enjoyed by the many tourists who visit. Therefore, it is inevitable that the film includes scenes shot in this location.

"CUT!" With Charles' voice, Dennis hurriedly pulled on the reins, but the horse continued to pace back and forth. It was only when the nearby horse trainer came to help that the horse finally settled down.

Meanwhile, Angela, who was also riding a horse ahead, had already stopped her horse. Her equestrian skills were nothing remarkable, but she managed to handle herself well, which surprised the crew. Of course, these basic riding skills were not brought about by her rebirth. In her previous life, she was a NEET. How could she have practiced horseback riding? But now...

Speaking of which, Angela wished that everyone's attention would shift elsewhere. In recent days, there were always those who, unaware of the details, would playfully ask her when she would finish writing her script. In the eyes of these uninformed individuals, the aspiring young screenwriter was adorable.

Although she was the one who insisted on including the clause in the contract that she couldn't be openly revealed as the screenwriter, it still bothered her. However, since she had a good relationship with everyone, her best response was to "kill" them with her eyes. This frustrated the little girl, but what frustrated her even more was that even Jessica, who knew the truth, occasionally joined in teasing her. If possible, she really wanted to pin Jessica down and give her buttocks a good spanking!

"I'm just being impulsive. I'm just letting my imagination run wild. I'm just... Ugh, what am I thinking?" The little girl covered her face with a sigh.

Every time she acted on impulse, she would disregard the consequences. "Sleepless in Seattle" was released in 1993, meaning the filming must have taken place in 1992. The script was likely written even earlier. And now, she had carelessly created her own version. What if the original author had already completed their script and was currently seeking investments? What's even worse is that several people already knew the general plot, especially Miss Ryan. If she were to disregard what she had written and continue with her own version, who knows what kind of uproar it would cause after the release of "Sleepless in Seattle."

"Impulsiveness is of the devil!" Angela chastised herself. Although Nancy didn't explicitly say anything, it was evident that the few pages of the script and the general plot that Miss Meg had shared with her had piqued her interest. What should she do? She genuinely wanted to groan out loud.

Speaking of which, she didn't know how to describe this situation. The most memorable part of "Sleepless in Seattle" for Angela was the ending. After Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks finally met on the rooftop of the Empire State Building, their eyes locked on each other as they walked into the elevator without breaking their gaze. The lines Miss Ryan had just recited had little to do with the scene in the hotel from "Sleepless in Seattle." Who knows how the little girl had made that connection.

"Angie, what are you pondering?" Jessica ran over with a smile.

Angela glanced at her while still sitting on the ground, cupping her face, she replied, "Why don't you ask how the new script is progressing now?"

"Oh, yes, how is the new script coming along?" Jessica asked in a serious tone. Sensing that Angela was about to playfully pounce on her, she quickly took a few steps back and stuck out her tongue. "Alright, the director has instructed us to head to the valley for the camping scene. Let's hurry."

Finally, there was some good news. Angela shrugged her shoulders, temporarily setting aside her worries.

The camping scene was pivotal. In this scene, Nick would ultimately chooses his daughter and reconcile with his ex-wife, triggered by a prank their two daughters played at night. Since they had to shoot a nighttime scene, it was evident that the crew would have to spend a night in the woods. This meant real camping, something Angela had never experienced in her past or present life. In her past life, she didn't have the opportunity, and in her present life, her parents didn't have the time. Even at her grandfather's estate, Angela had never attempted to spend a night in a tent with a sleeping bag. So, it was indeed good news!

Just as she anticipated, after the crew completed their shooting tasks, Nancy organized a campfire party. Everyone was in high spirits. The staff was thrilled because Mrs. Meyers rarely allowed them such a break on a workday. Meg and Dennis were delighted because, as newlyweds, they could finally enjoy some quality time together and engage in intimate conversations. Charles and Nancy were happy because today's shooting tasks were completed ahead of schedule in a satisfactory manner.

However, the little girl... was not happy. She suddenly found herself at a loss for what to do. Look, the adults were drinking beer and engaging in conversations about topics only they could understand. Even Sparrow was whisked away by the photographer, Phineas.

Although her soul was that of an "old guy" how could she possibly join their conversation? As for drinking alcohol... well, forget it. She wasn't of legal age yet, and besides, she didn't enjoy drinking.

Meanwhile, Jessica was engrossed in a lively discussion with Jennifer, asking her intriguing questions. Angela couldn't help but feel a tinge of dissatisfaction, as she found herself sitting alone by the campfire, absentmindedly poking at the flames with a stick. She longed for the company of her older sister, knowing that with her around, she would never feel so bored.

Just then, a melodious guitar sound wafted through the air, accompanied by a gentle singing voice. Angela looked over and saw that Dennis had somehow acquired a guitar, cradling it in his arms as he played and sang for his beloved wife. Meg, with her head resting on her hand, gazed affectionately at her husband, completely captivated by his singing. Gradually, everyone else was drawn in as well. Although Dennis' singing was average, the deep emotions he poured into each note resonated with everyone. Thus, when he finished singing, a round of applause erupted.

Angela, who had been itching to try it, leaned over quickly and pretended to examine the guitar in her hands. Then, she exclaimed in surprise, "A handmade wooden guitar from Ashburn Company?"

After acknowledging the applause and thanking everyone, Dennis had already noticed the little girl. After spending so many days together and acting in numerous scenes, he had grown fond of her. Particularly after hearing from his wife about the girl's screenwriting skills the day before, he was very curious about her. He immediately raised the guitar and asked, "Want to give it a try?"

"Is it okay?" Angela blinked her eyes, seeking confirmation.

"Sure, go ahead," Dennis smiled and handed her the guitar. He could tell that the little girl was someone who loved music.

"Thank you." Angela didn't hesitate and took the guitar, slinging it over her shoulder. After testing the scales and familiarizing herself with the instrument, she pondered for a moment before strumming the strings and softly singing:

"I'm a big big girl

in a big big world

It's not a big big thing if you leave me

but I do do feel

that I too too

will miss you much

miss you much..."

[Note: The song]

Her clear and natural voice resonated through the air, devoid of stage fright or pretense. It immediately captured everyone's attention. Along with the girl's singing, everyone couldn't help but get lost in the emotions of love and separation, entangled in their thoughts.

Yes, this was Emilia's famous song, "Big Big World." Although typically accompanied by a piano, the little girl played it well on the guitar and managed to evoke the same essence. Despite not showcasing the song's inherent sadness, she chose a different approach, infusing her performance with a unique flavor. It had to be admitted that the little girl indeed possessed talent in music.

As the song came to an end, everyone applauded enthusiastically. Feeling a sense of pride, Angela thanked everyone, and then she heard someone say, "Angela, sing another one!"

Caught up in the excitement, the little girl didn't think twice and replied, "Okay, how about a French song?"

Clearing her throat, she strummed the strings and began to sing:

"Hélène

Je m'appelle Hélène

Je suis une fille

Comme les autres..."

[Note: The song]

It was a delightful song. "Je m'appelle Hélène" had dominated the French singles chart for 25 weeks in Angela's past life. Its influence was no less significant than that of "Big Big World."

There was a moment of hesitation, but the applause remained enthusiastic. Angela secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She regretted her choice of singing this song, considering that not many crew members understood French. However, even though they couldn't comprehend the lyrics, it didn't hinder their appreciation for the music itself. So, everyone didn't hesitate to offer their applause.

"Quite surprising, Angela. Whose song is this? It seems like none of us have heard it before," Dennis applauded and inquired with a smile.

"Oh, I wrote it myself," Angela answered without changing her expression, shamelessly attributing someone else's work to herself.

"You wrote it yourself?" Sweetheart Sister, sitting next to her husband, once again expressed her surprise. Although she had learned from the script a few days ago that the little girl could indeed write scripts, she never imagined she could also compose songs.

"That's not surprising, Miss Ryan. When she was in school, Angela had thoughts of forming a band," Jessica chimed in. "She had written several songs back then and forced us to rehearse with her."

"Can you form a band in elementary school?" Meg seemed a bit perplexed.

"We should be grateful that you couldn't, otherwise, who knows how she would have tortured us... although the songs were good," Jessica shrugged.

"Angela, can you play the song Jessica mentioned?" Dennis became interested and looked at the little girl.

"Well..." Angela scratched her head and said with a smile, "It might be a bit troublesome. That song sounds better on an electric guitar, and an acoustic guitar doesn't have that same feeling."

"That's easy," Dennis smiled and got up, heading towards the luggage bag, puzzling the little girl with his intention.

"He always carries his precious guitar with him," Meg explained and then gazed at her husband with tenderness. "That way, he can sing to me anytime."

"Awesome." The little girl stuck out her tongue and thought to herself, seeing how close they were now, who knows... well, forget it, she shouldn't say anything. Angela turned to Jessica and waved the acoustic guitar in her hand. "Hey, dear, come and help."

"Do you... need me?" Jessica shrank back and asked.

"Of course, you know, it sounds best when two people play this song together. I remember teaching you before, right?" Angela squinted and said, "Even if it's been a while since you practiced, you can still accompany, right? You can still sing the chorus, right?"

"Okay, okay, I'll play then." Jessica knew she had let it slip, even though she was more inclined to sing than play. Angela didn't spare her from torment when she wanted to form a band back then, she reluctantly took the guitar and began tuning it.

Soon, Dennis returned with his electric guitar, an all-black Fender limited edition. With a rosewood fretboard and a body made of peach blossom heartwood, it exuded a stylish vibe.

"Wow, it's a Fender limited edition." Upon receiving the electric guitar, Angela who was familiar with instruments, couldn't help but exclaim in surprise. She quickly plugged in the battery-powered source and tested the feel, which was excellent.

"Alright, then, Jessica, let's begin!" Angela winked at Jessica, and with a flick of her hand, she strummed the strings.
