"You'll love living here, it's very interesting," Allison, Elizabeth's young niece, said cheerfully as she bounced around in Emily's room.

Emily lay silent on the bed, seemingly uninterested in anything.

"Oh, by the way, this is Petey," Allison smiled warmly, handing the doll she brought with her to Emily.

Emily turned her head and faintly said, "Thank you," before sitting up and accepting the doll.

Upon observing the room Allison was drawn to the doll that was placed in the corner. Unable to resist, she picked it up and exclaimed, "It's beautiful. Does she have a name?"

However, Emily remained with her back turned, showing no reaction at all. Sensing that something was amiss, Allison put down the doll and asked, "You... don't like to talk much, do you?"

"You shouldn't have come here," Emily's voice sounded deep and eerie.

"Why?" Amy asked, puzzled.

Emily slowly turned around, her face looking ominous. She lifted the doll that Allison had given her to her head, and the doll's face had been twisted and disfigured. "You'll get hurt," she said ominously.

"Cut! Excellent!" David clapped his hands, and the scene was wrapped up in one take, a source of encouragement for everyone.

However, Scarlett nearly stumbled upon hearing the word "Cut." The oppressive and eerie feeling she had experienced from Angela just moments ago made her legs feel weak.

If the director hadn't called out in time, she might have ended up sitting on the floor. It was truly terrifying... But then again, wasn't this precisely what making a movie was all about?

Scarlett suddenly felt a rush of excitement. The movie-making process was undeniably fascinating, a whole different world compared to stage plays. She wanted to approach Angela and share her own experiences, but when she raised her head, she saw Angela still sitting quietly on the bed, her eyes distant, emanating an unsettling vibe.

At that moment, Al, who had been observing among the crew, walked up and lifted Angela into his arms. Angela struggled initially, but Al gently comforted her until she finally calmed down and came back to her senses.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Al," Angela said softly, leaning against him.

"It's alright. But I think..." Al wanted to offer some comforting words, but someone tapped his shoulder. Looking up, it was Jodie. She didn't say anything, just pointed to herself and then gestured to the crew members who had started to leave quietly. Al understood the message and nodded, released his hold on the little girl, and stepped aside for Jodie.

"Hey, Angela, you did a great job just now," Jodie said as she sat down in front of her.

"Thank you, Jodie," Angela's spirits seemed to have lifted slightly.

"I sense that something might be bothering you. Can you talk to me about it?" Jodie gently inquired.

The little girl bit her lip and remained silent. She couldn't fathom why this scene, which she had modified had nearly consumed her emotions!

In the original《Hide and Seek》the director used a shallow focus to emphasize the mangled doll, creating a terrifying atmosphere. Angela had chosen to change it in her script, having the doll and the daughter's head side by side to heighten the abnormality of the little girl. Indeed, this alteration put the young actress's acting skills to the test.

After these few days of filming, Angela had initially thought it wouldn't be too challenging. However, as she immersed herself in the role and completed the scenes, she felt as if she had fallen into quicksand. It was as though something was pulling her soul out of her body and engulfing her.

If Al hadn't snapped her out of it, who knows what might have happened next.

Gazing into Jodie's azure eyes, the little girl had the impulse to confide her in, to share the troubles she had experienced during this period. Yet, as the words approached her lips, they were instinctively swallowed back. A voice seemed to repeat in her ears: Never reveal anything!

Thus, after a moment of silence, Angela smiled bitterly and said, "Jodie, you're not Clarice after all."

Jodie gazed at Angela and shrugged after a while. "Okay, I won't ask anymore, but I think if you need to you can talk to me anytime, alright?"

Angela nodded.

Next, the crew paused the little girl's shooting. In addition to granting her some much-needed rest and preparation time for the evening shoot, Mrs. Brown surprisingly gave her a day off. Angela was accompanied by Grace and Sparrow as they strolled around Woodland Town.

Joining them was Scarlett who had already finished her scenes for the day and her mother, Mrs. Johansson, who used to work as a film producer and held a great affinity for acting.

They didn't spend an extensive amount of time wandering the streets, yet Angela's mental state felt somewhat alleviated. With the lively Scarlett by her side, she couldn't simply withdraw into her character of Emily.

Scarlett's carefree and unrestricted nature provided a refreshing distraction, engaging Angela in incessant chatter along the way. Although it could be exasperating, Angela also experienced a sense of relief that had been absent for a long time. However, she still maintained some distance and refrained from too much physical contact with Scarlett.

Afterward, Scarlett and her mother returned to New York. Her role had limited screen time, and the most crucial scene with Angela had already been shot. Since that was completed, there was no need for her to stay any longer. This time, they didn't rush like they did during Christmas. The two girls exchanged addresses, and although Angela didn't want to she still couldn't refuse.

As night fell, the crew prepared to shoot the pivotal scenes: the father killing Elizabeth, the daughter frightened and calling for the female psychiatrist, the female psychiatrist hurrying to the scene, the confrontation with the split-personality father and finally, the psychiatrist and Emily escaping into a nearby cave, where the psychiatrist shoots and kills the father.

After trying out a few shots and ensuring that all three main actors were in their respective zones David smoothly completed the initial chase scenes inside the cave. Although Angela still experienced moments of drifting off after filming, she didn't get completely lost in her role as she did in the morning.

"Alright, now this is the last scene, and once we're done, we can wrap up for the day," David announced loudly. It was getting late, and time was limited especially for Angela. If they couldn't finish today, they'd have to drag it to tomorrow night, which wasn't ideal, considering they only had the New York scenes left to shoot.

"David, the rock structure inside the cave isn't dense enough for us to hang large lighting equipment," Bonari walked over and said.

David gestured towards the cave entrance. "Can't we use tripods to support them?"

"Of course, but it will only achieve about two-thirds of the effect you want," Bonari shrugged.

David pondered for a moment, then went to the cave entrance again to take a look. "In that case, just hang small equipment, and let the lighting be as dim as possible, to create strong contrasts. But, of course, not so dark that we can't see anything."

With this issue resolved, the preparations were almost complete. Al, Jodie, and Angela had also finished getting ready. Even so, David had already instructed someone to prepare hot water earlier. After all, Al and the others would be soaking in water later, and the temperature in New York in February was quite low.

After trying a few shots before they entered the cave, David officially began filming.

The father chased his daughter into the rocky cave. Soon after, the female psychiatrist, who had come to find the gun, cornered the father in the cave. She was almost killed by him, but his daughter's appearance confused the father.

The psychiatrist narrowly escaped danger and retrieved the gun. Facing the aggressive father once again, she pulled the trigger after a tense moment, and the sound of the gunshot echoed through the cave. The father fell into the water in the cave, and the female psychiatrist embraced Emily in tears. The cave fell silent, and the music from the music box floating on the water's surface echoed.

"Ha-" Originally, David was about to call a halt, but in the next second, he shouted, "Be careful!"

The lighting hanging above Jodie and Angela suddenly gave way. Everyone was startled, and Jodie barely had time to raise her head when, in that split second she felt a force pushing her away. There was a loud crash, and the lighting rigging struck the rocks, shattering the glass. Both Jodie and Angela fell into the water, creating a massive splash.

"Quick, go check on them to see if they're injured!" David shouted, and the crew members quickly jumped into the water and ran toward the two girls. Al, who had been portraying the "floating corpse," also hurriedly got up and followed.

Soon, with the support of several crew members, Jodie and Angela got out of the water. Both of them looked visibly shaken but fortunately, neither of them was injured. David suppressed his anger and had someone quickly escort the two women back to their rooms.

Angela let out a strong sneeze and pulled the blanket wrapped around her body tighter. It was awful being soaked in ice-cold water, and she truly admired Al for playing the "floating corpse" for so long.

Listening attentively, she could faintly hear David's angry voice. Thinking back to that moment, she felt a lingering sense of fright. At the time, she had no idea what had caused the accident, but she instinctively felt the danger and pushed Jodie forcefully.

Fortunately, they were only frightened, but she couldn't help but shudder when considering what might have happened if she hadn't acted quickly. The consequences could have been unimaginable.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door. Grace, who had been with Angela, got up to answer it, and it was Jodie who came in. She was wearing thick pajamas, just like Angela, having changed all her clothes.

"Hi, Jodie."

"Hey, Angela."

The two greeted each other, and after Jodie sat down in front of Angela, they both asked in unison, "Are you okay?"

This made them pause for a moment, but soon they burst into laughter together. Jodie then said gently, "Thank you, Angela."

"It's nothing. I believe if the situation were reversed, you would have protected me too," Angela replied sincerely, a small smile forming at the corner of her mouth.

Jodie gazed at her green eyes for a moment before raising her head and saying to Grace, "Miss Grace, can I talk to Angela alone?"

"Of course, go ahead." Grace nodded, then walked out and closed the door.

Angela looked at Jodie curiously, wondering what she wanted to say. But Jodie didn't say anything, she just gazed at her intensely, as if her eyes could delve into Angela's heart leaving the little girl feeling a bit uneasy.

Just as she was about to ask what was going on, Jodie suddenly reached out and embraced her gently rubbing her face against Angela's.

Angela felt her face flush, and that instinctive feeling she had subconsciously rejected resurfaced again, though not as intense as before. She wanted to push Jodie away, but her body felt weak and powerless.

Then, she felt Jodie's lips lightly brush against her face, causing her breathing to quicken.

Jodie whispered softly in her ear, "I understand your struggles, Angela. I also know what you're trying to push away. From the moment we first met, I knew who you are and what you feel. So I want to tell you that some things can't be discarded just because you wish to. Instead of trying to cut them off, why not embrace them? Since they exist, they must have their own value."

Then, Angela felt Jodie gently touch her lips, and those deep blue eyes appeared again as if declaring, "Angela, we share the same soul!"
