“The three sun houses are in motion. They must have already sent word to the winter mainland.”

Today, Milo of the Esid Merchants donned a uniform, pretending to be a knight as he strapped on a sword. But in truth, he was not skilled in swordsmanship to the extent of being recognized as a knight of Delrose.

“There is no need to sever communication,” he said.

“Yes, we will provide regular updates as we gather more information,” came the expected response. Milo bowed his head. He had thought that the Sun Houses would have no knowledge of the happenings in Deloz.

However, Milo had already established their whereabouts long ago. No matter how secluded they remained, they could not escape the flow of goods consumed by people.

Moreover, for those hailing from the winter region, it was not an easy task to settle in the south and reside there. Thus, they had to rely on the Esid Merchants, who conducted trade throughout the northern and central regions.

“And here is the latest information on the activities of the three houses,” Milo announced, setting down the neatly organized papers. Aden’s eyes quickly scanned the documents.

These days had been hectic for him. He needed to have a precise understanding of how the people of Delrose were faring under the sun. As of yet, he had not visited the Sun Houses, so reports were his sole source of information.

For Aden, who possessed unique abilities, it was only natural that he would be unable to fully utilize his powers without a thorough understanding of his environment.

“The Blue Nos Mansion has been relocated to the south,” Aden pointed out, drawing attention to something significant. Milo fell into a brief silence.

“Yes, it seems there are those who cannot bear the heat,” he replied.

Aden narrowed his eyes, contemplating the situation. “And what about us?”

The people of Biflten were scattered throughout the sun. Although exchanges tended to dwindle significantly during this time, it did not mean that they were completely oblivious to the happenings in the sun.

Reports continued to pour in through the established communication network established by the former Duke and Aden’s father. While some of the information may not be currently useful, it is crucial to maintain reliable channels.

For instance, Blue Nose handled information gathering in the south, Ello and Mille covered the west and east, respectively, and Deloz held command in the central region. It was a network that relied on mutual trust.

Aden chuckled upon reading about Nos’ supposed diligent work in the south. “Since we oversee the central region, there have been no reports of any issues thus far. If any problems arise, we immediately relay them back to winter.”

Aden nodded, acknowledging the strategy in place.

“In the southern region, do not allow anyone who has spent less than five years in the sun to venture down there,” Milo stated, his voice filled with uncertainty.

“In that case, our manpower will be significantly limited,” he added, knowing full well the challenges they faced. The number of individuals willing to come to the sun was already scarce. Finding someone to assist the mistress proved to be an even greater challenge, as there were no individuals who had returned from the sun’s embrace in the Biflten Mansion of the winter province.

The majority of Delroses in the sun had gathered under Esid’s command. It was the outcome of twenty years spent solely monitoring central information.

“Nevertheless, I have no desire to sacrifice Deloz,” Aden murmured, his gaze fixated on the Blue Nos papers. Among those who had descended from the sun, those who were unable to withstand the intense heat, succumbing to illness or collapse, were not sent back to winter. It was due to a lack of staff.

“I will follow your orders,” Milo assured him. The chief would never send Deloz to their demise, and thus, Milo trusted his commands implicitly.

“And if you receive word of difficulties, immediately adjust the number of individuals and conduct periodic checks on their well-being.”

“Understood,” Milo replied with a nod.

“Ensure that all those heading to hot regions are equally informed,” Aden continued, his tone firm.

Milo politely acknowledged the instruction. “Yes, understood.”

The sunlight in the sun was undoubtedly different from that of winter. It was ironic that, despite having lived in the cold embrace of winter, it was now challenging to bask in the warmth of the sun. Sunlight was not meant to be a harbinger of death for humans. Unlike blizzards, it was far gentler in nature. Aden narrowed his eyes, pondering how different things could have been if he had been able to exert his authority even under the sun. Deloz would not have suffered as they did.

“And a letter has arrived from the madam,” came the next report. Aden hesitated for a moment.

“From whom?” he inquired.

“It is from Countess Dannet,” the report confirmed.

The name did not ring any bells in Aden’s mind, and he swiftly reached his conclusion. “Not an enemy,” he stated, his Delrose sensibilities attuned to detecting ill will.
