Hundred – Volume 11 – Intermission Approximately 50,000 years ago Part 1

Intermission

Approximately 50,000 years ago, Part 1

(I’m alive, somehow——)

That was the first thing she thought when waking up from the cold sleep. When looking at it, and although a light scar remained, the wound on the shoulder she suffered from the pincers of a Savage also regenerated.

(I wonder how much time passed)

Thinking so, she touched the monitor.

Looking at it, Maria doubted her eyes.

– You’re kidding, right?

It’s because around a million of years have passed since she departed from Planet Notre Dame.

(No way, that’s…)

Maria became dumbfounded for a while.

What has become of Notre Dame now?

She can’t imagine it at all.

The fact that no rescue came during that time corners Maria even more.

(… even so…)

Even so, if she’s alive, then she should be able to return to Notre Dame at that time.

It’s almost certain that there should be a way.

Believing so, Maria booted the main computer of the escape pod first.

Then, she emitted a rescue signal.

She acts in accordance with the crisis management manual.

She waits for a while, but there’s no response.

(It’s no use, then the next)

She kept emitting the rescue signal and moved onto the next data item.

It’s to verify the environment of this planet.

The result is——everything is in order.

It means that there’s no problem if she goes out.

In the first place, the cold sleep was cancelled because the health of Maria was stabilized and with outside being safe, those two points satisfied the condition of being able to come out from the pod. That’s what Maria understood with the crisis management manual.

Speaking of other things she understood, the length of a day of this planet isn’t much different from Planet Notre Dame’s.

After that, Maria checks the situation outside.

This is also an action in accordance with the crisis management manual.

Using the camera of the escape pod, Maria projected on the monitor the outside scenery.

– It’s beautiful…

Being deeply moved emotionally, she ends up muttering.

It’s a very beautiful green.

The sonar notifies her that there are no enemies in the vicinity.

If that’s the case, she would like to go outside. She wants to come into contact with the nature after a long time.

Her heart and body were telling her so.

Opening the hatch to go outside, Maria took a deep breath.

She can actually feel from the bottom of her heart that such thing is saying to her that she’s alive.

The air——.

The air is very tasty.

Returning to the escape pod once again, she decided to ascertain the condition of the escape pod.

– It’s broken…

The condition of the escape pod was bad, it appears that it was almost like a miracle that the main computer and the cold sleep equipment were functioning.

It’s not like she’s able to move from this place, not to mention to return to her planet.

It’s a hopeless situation.

Certainly, her own knowledge of the spaceship is what she was taught.

If it’s a simple failure, then she can repair it by following the instructions of the main computer, but even in this state it’s impossible already. She can only rely on a professional or a robot.

So now, speaking of the things that can be done by her, are to keep transmitting the rescue signal and to continue praying for someone who could catch it.

That’s why, Maria keeps praying.

——since the past, Glenn has come to save her.

No, it doesn’t have to be Glenn.

By someone catching the rescue signal, then she will return——.

She will return to Planet Notre Dame of approximately a million years ago.

Even if that possibility wasn’t even 1%, the only thing that Maria could do was to pray and pray.

                            ※※※

Three days have passed since Maria started transmitting the rescue signal.

But there’s no response at all.

Only birds and animals came to the side of the escape pod, and the contact of intelligent life wasn’t the same as the response of the rescue signal.

Perhaps, there are no intellectual life forms on this planet or the ones next to it.

Such uneasiness crosses her mind.

If it comes to that, then there might be a possibility that she will have to continue waiting for rescue on this planet in that condition for who knows how many years.

There’s a bed in this escape pod, but water and food are necessary to live.

Only water and nutrient capsules for approximately a month are at hand——if those come to an end, what will be waiting for her is death.

She doesn’t want to die, of course.

If worst comes to worst, there’s also the way to go into cold sleep again until she’s rescued.

However, that will also end up leading to use the energy of the escape pod and that is a waste.

The remaining battery of the escape pod wasn’t that much either.

It will be impossible to transmit a rescue signal if it runs out, so it had better to be outside as much as she can.

(I will live!)

Maria persuades herself.

(I will definitely survive and I will absolutely return to Planet Notre Dame!)

For the sake of that, what she also needs is water and food.

To secure those two, Maria started to move.
